A nice Nigerian restaurant to try around Manchester city centre✅ Not enough food options though and they need to fix that “discretionary service charge” because it’s off-putting. Still worth a visit anyway

Best french toast you can have in Manchester. Perfect blend of flavours. Tried Black sheep and Pot kettle black french toast but was not impressed. But Soul and Surfs is just classic french toast.

I rarely get blown away but I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and this is the best food I’ve eaten in a while. The gizzards and jollof were phenomenal. The jollof was so spicy and smokey, the best I’ve ever had. The service also really made our experience, sorry I didn’t catch your name but the young girl at the front here on Saturday night 31/08 was an absolute sweetheart! Shoutout to the chefs for the amazing food, you have something so special here. Cannot recommend enough!

Staff are rude lazy and ignorant and the food wasn’t good lied to us about what menu was going to be on and we were waiting 40 minutes just to pay the bill worst restaurant I’ve ever been to

YUM! The plantains can’t help but be the star of the show—- would’ve eaten a basket full. The mac and cheese is fabulous…. Prawns were my absolute favorite but had to try the lobster too. The wings were absolutely annihilated by my friend. You have to get to Soul & Surf!

Food lacked a lot of flavour. Service was very poor, drinks took over 25 minutes to come out, food took nearly 40-50 minutes with only one other table present in the restaurant. Asked for a sauce half way through the meal, never came but charged me for it.

First time going after seeing Instagram posts... Did not disappoint! Food was so flavorsome! The best in Manchester I've been to so far. Venue is compact and cosy with great music and vibes. Manager was around when I was there. He was friendly communicted and interacted with customers nicely. The passion for the business was great to see. Informed us another venue on the arisen! Can't wait to check that out. Will definitely be going again!

Absolute best authentic soul food in Manchester! All flavours, the way they cook it and the atmosphere is unmatched. I will miss ordering both from Deliveroo and going in person. Aside from all the fantastic dishes, they also make great waffles?! I would say leave space for the waffles and get a take away to enjoy the rest of the big plates they offer as the main dishes.

When I first came here the food was great, but i got take out today and the chicken was dry and the plantain was very dry. Disappointed.

One of the best lobster tails I had in a while. Prawns incredible and the rice really cooked to perfection. Never forget the Mac N cheese… best staff … nice and lovely little joint. Highly recommended

The food was really nice and worth the price for the portions you get. The mac and cheese was a bit try and tasteless though unfortunately. It was empty, and as we arrived it didn’t seem like the staff were happy to welcome us. It was like they don’t want to serve. They don’t seem professional at all and prioritised their friends. Kinda disappointed been wanting to come here for so long as the food looks amazing on the videos. Food was bog standard defo not worth the £20 I paid, jollof rice was so dry and the salmon wasn’t cooked properly and was extremely small portion, the Mac And cheese would of been nice if it was grilled not microwaved as the cheese wasn’t crispy like Mac and cheese should be, food took over half an hour to come even though we was the only people in there. Customer service wasn’t great either the staff look miserable, which wasn’t very welcoming, the fact service charge is added really baffles me when the service is so bad, 🙈

I loved the restaurant's culinary experience. The quantity is excellent. The treatment was exquisite. I loved everything I ate. I compare desserts with different places and exte is in my first in my category for now in all of Manchester. Congratulations to the owners and their workers for the good work they do.

This was an amazing place to eat. We went for an early lunch and the food did not disappoint. Brilliant price, so tasty and great portion as well. I am do sad I am missing their upcoming brunch event - I would have been there in a heart beat. we ordered two daiquiris and zobos and two trays of the the Soul and Surf specials. Highly recommend. Also the music was A1 throughout our dining experience & such nice staff!

Nothing offered on arrival and seating. Was served after two groups, that I had arrived before. Then had to wait 40mins for food to come. When food arrived, lobster was tough and prawns were cold. I gave this feedback politely at the venue, but nothing was done and was fully charged for food. I shan't be back, sorry.

Tremendous crispy chicken wings with intense and aromatic jollof rice. My friend had the lobster tail and cajun prawns and said they were incredible too. Can't recommend it enough!

A little bit of a disappointment. While the mains of what we ordered was nice (shrimp great, chicken great, both full of flavor and cooked very nicely) the sides let things down a bit as the rice was a bit on the overdone side and the Mac and cheese was mushy and clearly had been nuked in a microwave.

Although the food was adequate, the service fell short. Our food was delayed for an hour. Also, very limited setting, gets noisy at times considering we had to be there for 2 hours 😏

The food was very good at a reasonable price. You can tell the place is new and although the staff is friendly they seem a bit unexperienced. The service is really slow. Book in advance if you want a table otherwise be ready to be seating at the mini bar which is really uncomfortable.

A friend booked this place for 3 on a Saturday evening, we all heard great reviews about the lobster tail. We all ordered the lobster tail with prawns. The food looked great when it came out but the jalloff rice was very very dry and lacking flavour or a kick and there were no other sauces available to dip anything in. It was a struggle to enjoy this meal. The lobster tail was chewy and flavourless which was disappointing. My friend asked for some sauce and the waitress looked as if we had just asked her to lay eggs. The service was not pleasant and felt rushed. We did get a spicy mayo sauce given to each of us but they charged us for this. Which was ridiculous. When another waitress came over to clear our table she didn't ask if we wanted dessert, she just said "I get the bill' Which was a statement not a question. We all felt uncomfortable and said yes, I would have actually gone for dessert as I left most of my jalloff rice untouched. However with this rudeness I just wanted to leave never to return again. The service charge was automatically added on the bill but did not show on the receipt which is misleading. This place is small and over rated and the service is absolutely horrible. Train your staff on basic customer service.

A nice little halal food place find! We ordered the salmon and king prawns surf box and the crispy chicken soul box which were amazing. However the portions for the salmon and prawn box weren't as generous as the chicken one, nevertheless the prawns was absolutely amazing and the chicken is probably the best crispy chicken I've had! It is a small place but that didn't bother us as it wasn't really busy either so we were comfortable - if you're going with a big group it might be best to call up beforehand. Would definitely revisit again!

Giving 5stars only because the food was delicious. Ordered the soul n surf special which I highly recommend. The lobster tail was a first for me it was beautiful. The crispy chicken wings were the best Iv had in a long time. Jollof rice was interesting however I did enjoy it. The staff were friendly and polite however the service was extremely slow. Had to get get up and go to the counter to order but was told to sit back down and order will be taken. Food took a while to arrive but it made up for it with the taste 👅. Improve on service and time and this place would be perfection

The interior is quite small and cramped when it gets busy, the tables are quite close together and not very big. We ordered a platter which comes with rice, mac and cheese and 2 sides. The food is halal. I wanted to try the lobster tail. It was nice and so were the prawns, plantain which I've never had before. Chicken wings were nice and crispy. Rice was ok. Food was nice but took quite some time to arrive. Service charge of 10% was added on but not explained beforehand, it was just added to the bill. I don't mind paying Service charge if Service is good but in this case I thought Service was average.

This was a great find. They had some unique options on the menu such as lobster tail and turkey wings. The restaurant is quite small so booking ahead is recommended. The food was tasty, the mains portion size were great and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. I've had to remove a star because the food took a while to come out (even though there weren't that many people in the restaurant at the time), and the portion size of the small bites was very small. For £6 I expected a few more wings. We ordered the Salmon and King Prawn Surf Box and peppered turkey wings.

Food was tasty and I enjoyed it. But the portions were fairly small. I wouldn’t say it’s a great value for money. The staff were nice but it took 50 minutes for us to get the food from when we ordered.

Ordered Peppered turkey, Gizdodo and Jollof rice. It was absolutely dissapointing and struggled to find anything good about it. Wings not spicy, jollof rice was not done, really dry and lacked seasoning. Gizzards were hard, tasteless and had barely any plantains or sauce. All and all, does not tasted of nothing but oil and not worth the money or effort. Also the restaurant should know that literally no one wants the end of wings in his meal. Very dissapointing.

Been wanting to go to this place for ages and was majorly disappointed. My lobster and prawns were cold. The jollof rice was not spicy enough and flavourless. Mac and cheese was okay but nothing to write home about. Pretty small portions and poor quality considering the price. Only thing I’d eat again was the prawns and the cocktails. The staff were really lovely however and I don’t mean this review as any disrespect to them. Toilet is not big enough for wheelchair users.

Food isn’t great. Lobster is good but that’s it. As someone used to authentic African food I was pretty disappointed. Very slow service - waited over an hour for food and at least 15 minutes for cocktails to be made. No apology for the slow service. Given that the food did not taste fresh and varied in temperature, I’m unsure as to why this is. Passionfruit daiquiri was more like banana than passionfruit. Also lacked any semblance of alcohol. Staff attitude to not allocating empty tables because of alleged reservations is confusing to say the least. Especially when tables were available to book at that time.. Overall, the restaurant is clearly very popular but more space and staff are needed. As well as more flavourful authentic cooking. Food - 1/5 Service - 1/5 Atmosphere - 3/5 purely for the music

Great meal; the food was delicious. I loved the atmosphere and sounds, but service was very slow, and while that can happen, I think coming over to check on patrons would be expected, offering water while you wait.

All I can say is 🤩 coming from a Nigerian background the Jollof and Gizzard was 10/10. Cleanliness was, well the taste speaks for its self . I’m a fussy eater an DONT tend to eat any Nigerian out.. as I like to taste proper clean food you can tell these people take pride in wat they do 💚🤍💚💯

I recently tried the Soul and Surf special box and was blown away by the amazing flavors and value for money! For just £30, I got a generous selection of Lobster tail, King prawns, Chicken Wings, Chips, Jollof rice, plantains, mac and cheese and coleslaw. The food was fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. The lobster tail and king prawns were cooked to perfection, and the chicken wings were crispy and juicy. The jollof rice and plantains had a lovely spicy kick, and the mac and cheese was so creamy and flavorful. The coleslaw was a refreshing contrast to all the savory flavors. Overall, the Soul and Surf special box was an absolute feast and fantastic value for money. I would highly recommend this to anyone who loves seafood and wants to try some authentic Caribbean flavours.

The restaurant is nice very cozy and the decoration was inspiring. The environment was numb very silent, the service was terrible the waiter never smiles looks like didn't want to be there. Didn't like how they set the table or the plastic cups. The food OMG I put so much expectation on this restaurant because I saw the videos on Instagram. The food was horrible, rice with no taste, the prawns and the lobster wasn't fresh over cooked with a bitter taste at the end the coleslaw wasn't fresh. The price was ok.

All of us thought it was the best breakfast we’d ever had. The flavours of the chicken sausages and turkey bacon were out of this world, and the bread had thus sweetness which was just so moreish. The French toast too was 10/10, as were our coffees, smoothies and milkshakes. Staff were incredibly lovely and helpful too, highly highly recommend

Great place to dine with contemporary interior ambiance and delicious meals. This inspirational wall for me was the highlight of my first visit 😊.

The place and food look very aesthetically pleasing, and you could not fault the presentation of the food when it arrived, and the taste of the waffles! However, the lady who took our order seemed to not enjoy her job, and we were asked to move from one end of the establishment to the other end, which didn’t really help when the place is cramped as there wasn’t really any room to move due to all the tables being together. I would also suggest there to be more prawns on the plate for £25.

Went to Soul & Surf Mcr on a Friday night. Just two of us, arrived just after 9pm without a booking. The people at S&S were really friendly and welcomed us in. The menu looked amazing! I ordered the largest option - lobster, prawns, wings, Mac & cheese … the works! It was really good. Flavour was on point and food was cooked perfectly. S&S were friendly throughout the evening. Only thing was gutted about was not being able to try their Biscoff Espresso Martini… another time because we will be back. Though next time is to try the breakfast

Went here for the first time today, Shared crispy chicken wings, fries, rice and a portion of mac and cheese with my fiancée, We struggled to finish it, There's absolutely no way, even on my best day, could I finish the chicken/fries/rice on my own! Absolutely stunning, really beautiful food, the service is excellent 👌 I'll definitely be coming back

Refreshingly different, relaxed and friendly dining experience. Portions not as overpoweringly huge as at another soul food outlet I've tried but just about the right amount for the more standard range of boxes, didn't try the top of the range one. We had salmon, prawns and various sides and found it all well cooked, tasty and nicely presented. I would recommend the gizzdodo in particular. What stood out was the friendly service by the lovely chef (no dirty looks for wanting to drink tap water) and the waffles - we only shared a small side to try them but they were hands down the best waffles I've ever eaten and like pure heroine. I found myself planning my next visit and fantasizing about buying a waffle iron afterwards. We will be back, ordering LARGE portions of waffles!!

This was such a good meal and they gave a really good portion. I ate half and left the rest for the next day. I had the cajun salmon, mac n cheese, plantain, cole slaw and steamed vegetables. They threw in some shrimp for me and it was all divine. I particular liked that the mac n cheese was not from the box but made from scratch. Although I took my food to go, the restaurant is a cozy little spot to eat and chill and I would definitely visit next time I'm in Manchester!

This is such a wonderful place to eat! The ambience is quite African (which is good for nostalgia) plus it’s halal and the food taste REALLY good, not to talk of AFFORDABILITY. The service is also great 👌🏾

Firstly the worker on the phone was struggling to make my order, the food was very average. The Mac and cheese was the only nice thing to eat. You get 3 wings and 4 prawns. Not alot of food for £30. The waffle was under cooked and the middle was soggy af. Overall this place is very catfish and not worth the money.
