Sonia's Plaice in Caerphilly

over all the food was very nice! the sausage in batter was tasty batter was crispy and flavourful. the chicken curry and rice was nice but rice was real bland. only issue Id have is that the first was real oily and soggy. But would order again.

Lots of choice on menu, not overly expensive ike some (Pagoda Chinese). Nice food.

Food was lovely. Only downside they forgot my child’s meal so rang the restaurant and they said they would send it out but waited 30 minutes for it to be delivered. So me and my partner wouldn’t eat our food then without my daughter having her food as I can’t eat if my child ain’t got theirs. I thought there might have given something free as a sorry for forgetting it from the restaurant but nothing at all. Very disappointed as I don’t expect anything free. But a little something goes along way.

Ordered the grand slam breakfast fp it was a big portion couldn't finish it.but was pretty nice fp.big portion off small chips.

i normally rate Sonia's 5* but this was a real letdown. I ordered early for a tined delivery but it was 45 minutes late. I ordered 2 large fish and 2 large chips. the fish was tiny, more the size of a fish bite than a portion of fish let alone a large. tbe chips were also a very small portion of soggy mush. I don't know why it was so inferior to Sonias normal portion and quality and delivery time. Bery poor indeed. :(

chips was disgusting and cold and not eatable so threw them away this disgusting and they was stale chips not happy with this

Food was okay, arrived and curry had leaked out so was very messy. Tasted okay but not to normal standards.

You Took My Money,, But Didn't Give Me My Food..

I ordered fish chips and Irish curry for delivery. Delivery was on time and food still hot. Fish and chips was very greasy, chips was made with real potatoes but lots of black eyes still in them. Curry sauce was very nice. I wouldn’t order again as I have had a lot better.

Always has good food from here in the past but this time unfortunately the fish was not pleasant, soft mushy texture and couldn't eat it. The chips and fishcakes were fine though.

I am absolutely not happy with the food i ordered from here!! the fish wasn’t cooked well it was slimy and tasteless, the batter was soggy and under cooked! the battered ss aliy was over cooked and dry the food was inedible i will not order from here again.

this place has gone too expensive will order again when cheese isn't an extra 50p to put on curry and chips and a lot of other prices are adjusted but overall food is good just not good enough to empty my bank account over

really enjoyed my food reason why I put it was early as people forget that these guys do it all unlike some places who use just eat drivers for delivery and never turn up I'll be ordering again

Sent some wrong items delivered right ones as soon as they could. Disappointed with the home made curry I used to like it and it used to have mushrooms but no mushrooms and chicken tasted like it was form a tin

I’ve sadly learnt never to order in the evening. Comparing the food from day time to evening is like comparing food from The Ivy and McDonalds, the quality dramatically decreases in the evening. Batter on the sausage was wet and floppy no crispness to it at all, the chips were stale, and the jumbo sausage was cold. When I have orders around mid day, it’s the best chippy ever, so whoever works then clearly needs a raise and the rest need more training.

The ham and cheese melt was delicious and the fish was well cooked with a mound of chips. The Burger was huge....very enjoyable meal. Thank you.

The chips were awful the curry sauce was very thick with no taste the potato fritters were not eatable and the rissoles tasted like and looked like fish cakes not very happy at all

Food got thrown in the bin.. arrived late, cold burnt, and soggy from where it had been sat in wet papper.

Food was cold when it arrived. Chips were nice but the fish was soggy and didn’t taste nice at all. I’d be very surprised if it was cod as it tasted nothing like it. Very disappointed 😣

Sonia's plaice.. very friendly people.. I travel from Cardiff with a person that I support.. so he can sample their food..They go out of their way to engage in conversation. Last visit we dropped chips and sausage on floor. They provided a new portion with no charge.. and did not hesitate to clean the floor.. Great service. Thank you....

I think this is the first time the food ive had has had fault, usually its really delicious however the rice was hard and as a texture eater I couldn't bring myself to eat that part of the meal. The chips and curry sauce were still good, however I'm disappointed that I had to miss out on the rice

Delivery arrived early. Very large portions, however we found the quality poor and majority went in the bin.

Late and cold. Good job we have a microwave!! I ordered cheesy chips with beans... No cheese 🤬 grated my own and melted it the micro. May as well, made my own and saved my money. 3rd order from here, 1st was brilliant, 2nd, not as tasty and now this! Do I dare order again? Disappointed as I still don't have my main go to chippie around Caerphilly.

Mushy peas were dried out and fish soggy as a flip flop fresh out the sea! Disappointing as I’ve ordered here before and enjoyed the food.

I mostly have the GrandSlam brekky I eat half when it comes & then the other half in the evening as its super big.Always do my food the way I ask them too they're fab X Their salads are amazing too & also big. Im not a fan of bacon or fried bread but when I tried both from sonia's I was hooked ,I am hooked. Its never greasy & its cooked beautifully always arrives early & very hot. I have tried many other meals from there but as im not a massive eater or fan of eating when I want breakfast it's Mostly always sonias I order from. Try their festive rolls they're so stunning & also generous portions. I barely eat due to many illnesses & the meds I have 2 take but when I do feel hungry in the morning thats where I order from. The delivery people are so lovely & pleasant too ,so polite & caring. What more can I say other than this place is truly Amazing & Excellent in every way They're Fab~U~Licious. Love the food from Sonia's Plaice. Food is always freshly prepared and delivery is earlier than expected. The taste of the food is heavenly and would definitely recommend Sonia's Plaice to people as the food is high quality and delicious.

Restaurant rang me to inform me that they did not have an item agreed replacement, delivered later than target time by over half an hour, had to warm food up in the microwave before eating.

My ice cream with my cake was melted the cake was ruined the food was extremely cold, chicken nuggets were solid and was very very late. Honestly disappointed

Sadly battered sausage and chips tasted stale so had to throw them out, will be hesitant to try from again.

Fish was watery and batter wasn’t cooked, soggy and you could taste the flour, sorry guys, usually perfect

food was good but i paid £4.50 for a panini and only got half of one :/ do you eat the other half or sell it to someone else? i'd understand if it was £2.70 or something but £4.50 is way too much for half a sandwich also any plans of reducing the delivery charge?

The food was lovely but my partners burger came without the hash brown, onion rings and cruchy nacho bits, called the restaurant and a fresh one was made sent and out within 20 mins so rectified very quickly and to satisfaction

Disappointed that the food was like warm I had to reheat in microwave before eating otherwise great as usual thanks

When I go in to Sonia's Plaice to try something new I always get a very warm welcome. All the staff that I have seen are very polite, caring, well mannered ect. Sonia's plaice doesn't treat you as a customer, they treat you as family. 😃 They all have a sense of humour too! Plenty of friendly smiles as well 😍😉. The staff wrind each other up to which is hilarious & always makes me laugh when I'm in there ordering food. Sonia's Plaice have a brilliant selection of food so you won't get bored with just fish & chips. My daughter's (when they stay with me) enjoy Sonia's Plaice as much as I do! 😍. We enjoy going into Sonia's Plaice very much! Sonia's Plaice prices are excellent & the food is very yummy.

Worse meals ever from this shop usually very pleased with the food . The Salad/ham roll was hot as it was packed inside the hot food .The Fish was all batter hardly any fish and flowing with grease .the sausage in batter at to be removed as was not fully cooked.and lastly there was very small amounts of the chips .

Ordered three items at 1:30 pm. Got a message at 2:13pm saying my food was on the way. Then got a call from delivery driver who was not even at my house, at 2:45pm telling me they were busy and would be with me when they could. Told her thanks but by this point it was almost 3pm so I'd prefer a refund. Get another call from someone at the refusing to refund me . Just eat will only refund for the food so I about of pocket on delivery cost. Honestly this place is 5mins away! I ordered two things! How is it ever acceptable wait so long? I thought I'd give them another chance after they kept wrapping food in tin foil so it went soggy but clearly that was a huge mistake.

Asked on there to double check the order as previous was wrong and they still got it wrong. Food cold. Chips very dry. Bag of chips missing

The state of the food was atrocious when delivered, it looked as though it had been thrown around. The one meal had no curry sauce as it had been tipped out all over the other items in the bag, therefore it was dry and tasteless. The popcorn chicken was undercooked and therefore was binned straight away. Won’t be ordering from here again.
