Som Tum in Powys

Was staying in the area and needed a takeout, saw a leaflet for this one and went for it! Food was amazing, generous portions, fresh tasting ingredients and the value for money was great, not to mention it was ready within half an hour of ordering!! Would definitely recommend

First of all I have no idea how this place has a 4.5 star ratings!! We have eaten a lot of Thai food in the past but this is by far the worst! We ordered a beef salad and got some sort of stir fry mince pork that smelled and tasted funny, ordered pork pad Thai and got this pale greasy looking noodles with gammon, ordered tempura tofu and got a red ammonia smelling tempura. Most of our food went into the bin and we’re now worrying wether we would caught some sort of sickness bug tomorrow. STAY AWAY!!! Don’t waste your money!

After seeing the previous reviews, we made a bee line to Som Tum. The owner is great, smiling, friendly and helpful. We placed quite a large order, but were unprepared for how large it came, in a plastic food crate and THREE carrier bags. Far too much for the four of us. We each ordered a starter, curry and noodle dish. Don’t compare it to your usual take away, the servings are much more generous. The lovely owner also gifted us a serving of vegetable tempura with dip - delicious, and two large bottles of drink. Amazing value. Why a four star review though? The Thai food was quite different to what we expected. The soup was so sharp and sour I could not finish it, and some of the dishes did not contain all the ingredients listed in the menu (a supply problem maybe?). Please don’t let this minor gripe put you off. Som Tum is great value, and the business deserves all the custom it can get.

With a selection of fresh ingredients, the thai lady that operates from this stall creates delicious authentic thai meals.The nearest place that is comparable is in Swansea Market.It is for takeaway only, so keep a look out for signs around Ystradgynlais on A4067 where she parks up.

I have to say when approaching this trailer take away, I wasn't desperately optimistic! However, the food was absolutely delicious. Spicy, authentic Thai flavour. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The menu is extensive. We have eaten from here twice so far and we will be going back regularly. A lovely surprise.

I approached Som Tum van after recommendations but was feeling cautious due to being coeliac; I now go there every time I am in the area. The food is tasty, filling, a great price and even her chips are perfect! Vegan friends also had a tasty, filling meal that they could trust.

We had a take away from Som Tum and it was absolutely delicious! All the food was prepared with fresh ingredients and all the dishes were really tasty. The lady that owns the place is lovely and was really helpful when ordering. I’ll definitely be returning for food here again.

The take away is from a trailer in the car park. There is a wide selection of choice and the chef (who also serves you) will make it as spicy as you request. It's a very, very reasonable meal and it is delicious.

Read reviews of Som Tum and being a Thai food lover had to give this a try whilst holidaying in Wales!!!AMAZING food, so authentic and June the owner was absolutely lovely!!! So friendly. In our very short stay we had 2 takeaways from SomTum and I can't recommend it enough. If you love authentic Thai food you must try June's!!!

Excellent food. Wonderful Chef. Easy to find Trailer from my home in Central Swansea. I give high recommendation to Som Tum take away food.

Really tasty, traditional Thai food. The lady cooking was friendly and helpful. The place is just a van in a pub car park!

Just happened to find this place through Trip Advisor and as I love Thai food I had to take a drive and give it a try.
