Never disappointed pizza are really good. Prices are reasonable. Ingredients are well balanced and the dought is tasty. They are not too much oil, which is a big plus. Then, I like the idea of recycling boxes.

Probably the best Margherita I have had in a long time, couldn't help but completely finish it, baked to perfection, perfect balance, great ingredients (which I believe are locally and sustainably sourced). People often say that Yard Sale has some of the best pizza in Clapton, but they are overlooking Sodo. Prices are what can be expected from a trendy pizzeria, these aren't Asda Smart Price. Must confess I don't like the Karma Kola drinks that Sodo and many other restaurants have adopted, they don't taste nice, have way too much sugar and come in tiny cans. Other than that this is a must go for pizza lovers in London.

I wish now I had complained. £4 for some 3-4 day old lettuce masquerading as a green salad with a few small shavings of Parmesan on top. Chefs that send this sort of food out are totally lacking any care and professionalism. I bet they wouldn’t like to eat it, still less pay £4 for it. That’s the negative over as the two pizzas were served hot and tasty but for £11 and £9 respectively could have been more generous with the amount of toppings. The service staff were friendly enough but overall a bit disappointing.

Lovely pizzas, fresh and good quality ingredients, pleasant staff. The place itself is nice and cosy at lunch.

We visit here regularly and it never disappoints. Amazing food, great wine and the guys that run the place are wonderful. All the pizzas are divine and the specials are always changing. If you are in the area GO!

Been coming here since it opened and pizzas are consistently fantastic. Great quality topping and interesting menu - weekly specials keep it fresh. They’re also kind to the kids when we come for an early dinner. Best pizza in the area (and there are a lot of pizza places!!)

I love this place, I have never had a pizza here that I haven't loved. Only problem is eating too much! Great atmosphere, nice service. They have gluten free, yet I am generally gluten free yet this pizza is too good to miss! Also love their tiramisu

Really great pizza up the wrong side of Clapton Road. I would definitely recommend both the sweet potato, feta and rosemary and the goats cheese varieties. The atmosphere is good, would probably opt for the Walthamstow branch for special occasions though.

This is a great restaurant. Pizzas are not your usual run-of-the-mill variety. Nor is the selection of beers on offer. I LOVED this place. Dine here. You will love it too.

Sodo serves great pizzas and it serves them fast and hot. The food can't be faulted, and nor can the wine - but the latter is a little expensive for this kind of place. It is small and it was busy, crowded and chaotic inside. That's fine, but the service wasn't quite as smooth and slick as it could be. It's fun, great for a quick meal in couples or with the kids, but hardly what I'd call relaxed.

Love having this on a doorstep. Still find it hard to not order the Lorena pizza - genuinely delicious. Can't resist a ginger ale with rum and the desserts are to die for. Such a warm, buzzing atmosphere. Recommend booking if you want to visit at the weekend for dinner.

Just the best pizza and the best tomato sauce. I come here at least once every two weeks. Margarita and beer. You don't need anything else. Delicious !

Pizza is alright.. Not a proper wood burning oven.Thin and quite crispy sorta Roman style pizza.Piping hot restaurant and not especially comfortable. Quite cramped and fairly noisy.Can be pretty chill sometimes though.

Last year this was one of my favourite pizza places in London. Still love the butternut squash pizza. But me and my flatmates, who used to go often, noticed that the quality and amount of ingredients has dropped. Was a lot better last summer. A bit of a disappoint really. Hoping it will get better again.

came in as soon as it opened at midday on Sunday for a hangover pizza! Served by a super friendly italian who was polite yet chirpy and made the short experience really lovely. I had a margarita (£6) and the boyf the full meat one (£10), both absolutely brilliant, perfect sourdough bases, crunchy and tasty and the toppings so fresh. A couple of really tasty sounding specials as well as the usual menu but was in such a state we kept it safe this time!We will be back soon.

Upon aimlessly drifting down Chatsworth Road and up past Clapton Pond, my treacle and I were looking for a bite to eat when we stumbled past a small shop front that had a very rustic charm to it. A visit to Sodo was decided upon and we went in. It was early on a Saturday evening at about 6pm so we were delighted to find a spare table in a place that was crowded. We sat down and helped ourselves to the water laid at our table. After pondering the menu which was very tempting and simple, we were told by the waitress that our table was reserved ! We were reseated at side table which was fine and decided to have a drink and takeaway as this new seating area would only be available for half an hour more. We had a fantastic rum and home made ginger ale whilst waiting and a plate of buffalo mozzarella and toast...........absolutely delicious. Pizzas to go and an invitation to come back again from the waitress only next time we need to reserve a table so as not to be disappointed. Absolutely marvellous place, small but great atmosphere and fantastic food. We shall return !!

We came here in a party of 5 on a Monday night for some food. We were not disappointed - the pizzas are excellent and I would highly recommend the meaty one. You can also modify the pizzas to include your own combination of toppings, and there are some excellent desserts on the menu (I recommend the chocolate brownie). The service was a little lacking but as it's a very informal setting it did not matter too much. I will be visiting the Walthamstow branch when it opens!

Great friendly vibe, nice low key atmosphere, and very good pizza. Proper long fermented sourdough base makes it light, crispy, tangy and digestible. Pizzas are just the right size so you don't feel too full after your meal. Toppings are just right. And all good value.

Outstanding pizzas, one of the best in the area. Good choice of beers and very friendly staff. You can't ask for more I suppose!? Only downside is that in the summer it can get pretty hot inside since the place is a bit small.

A genuine treat if you can get a table in this small, busy and atmospheric little restaurant. The pizzas are sublime, i'd recommend the specials and don't leave without sampling the tiramisu which is insane.

This was my first visit to Sodo and it did not disappoint. The restaurant has a lovely, laid back atmosphere with great staff who were all very attentive and hands on! The food was incredible - really authentic and super tasty! Great value too. Unfortunately I was too full to fit in a dessert but they sounded amazing - next time!

I live close to Sodo, so I'm lucky enough to be able to go regularly. The pizza is amazing - the best I've had anywhere, and far better than its unprepossessing location on Upper Clapton Road might otherwise suggest. Crisp, chewy sourdough base, tasty sauce and delicious toppings. The menu is short, but there is plenty of variety, including several vegetarian options. Small, cosy dining room. Pretty much the perfect neighbourhood pizza restaurant, and worth travelling to Clapton for.

This review is not about the clapton branch of sodo but their new venture in walthamstow (not searchable yet). Admittedly they have been open only a week or so but I had previously been to the clapton restaurant and so had high expectations for this one too. The pizza was quite bland, the dough did not have the tangy taste that it should have (has had from clapton branch) and I could only really taste the char of the oven. I was slightly disappointed by the pizza, but would try again to see if it improves over time, maybe I should give them more slack as they've just opened. Secondly, the seating was ridiculous, I've eaten in restaurants where you have to share tables, that's fine sometimes, but this was ridiculous, me and my partner where seated on the same table basically as another couple, who were trying to enjoy their evening alone. We had to move the table ourselves to give us just an inch more of personal space (literally), then the waiter seated another couple on the other side, an inch from my elbows, so we had to move the table back and forth to let them in, obviously everybody was nice about it, friendly customers, but it was a bit of a silly situation. We spoke to a waiter after our meal and said that the space was a real issue, he said they would be sorting it by shaving a couple of inches off the tables! No mention of not trying to seat 4 tables in an area that would tightly fit 3. The experience was unfortunate as I have had a lovely experience in their clapton restaurant, they just need to sort out the space issue! People don't really like having to whisper to each other to have a personal conversation! I just hope this doesn't mean they are thinking of profit over people for this restaurant, the experience is what keeps us coming back!!

Absolutely delicious pizza, went for butternut squash at waiters recommendation and wasn't disappointed! So yummy. Have had a fun dinner with friends here as well before Christmas. Great atmosphere, great service, great food. Oh, and happily surprised great coffee!

My housemate and I ordered a disappointing delivery from here last year (see review below) and were kindly invited by the manager Dan to try again for free. We went in earlier this week and were very impressed. The service was very friendly - the staff were very attentive but we didn't feel rushed. The pizza and wine were great and well priced. Thank you for invitingus in Dan, we'll be back.

We ordered Burratina, Lorena and Margherita for delivery and were very disappointed. My housemate had heard good things about the pizza here but perhaps it does not travel well or they do not make as much effort for customers receiving deliveries. The Burratina was delicious; however the two pizzas were very tasteless with hardly any toppings - the lorena had about 10 pine nuts in total and the margherita was basically just sourdough with a thin layer of tomato. There are too many other places to get pizza in Hoxton to give this place another chance.

Sodo does more than ply you with super pizza and wine - the restaurant is tiny and packed full of atmosphere which mean you're provided with an experience as well. Really knowledgeable and helpful staff who were chatty and friendly. Delicious pizza with a unique sauce and great, original toppings. Lots or veggies too - no boring Margherita for me! A great evening with friends.

Stopped here for lunch one Saturday afternoon away from the busy city centre. The pizzas were the best we have ever tried, the choice of ales and lagers were delicious and the puddings were perfect to end off a lovely relaxing meal, could easily have sat there chatting, drinking and eating until closing time. Staff were superb, so welcoming and helpful with anything we needed. Would definitely return.

Stumbled upon it by chance on a grey Sunday lunchtime. Enticed in by 'sourdough pizza' sign outside. Not disappointed! Great pizza on a thin, crispy sourdough base. Superb leaf salad. Great glass of red wine. These guys know what they are doing! I left feeling happy...

Sodo is 90% of the reason I continue to put up with London rents.It's laid back and delicious, fast and super friendly. It's one of my very favourite places.Ginger ale + cured meat pizza + affogato = bliss.

This place is great. Sourdough is the best in London.Base is fresh and perfectly cooked with a fantastic semolina coating. Great ingredients, fresh, minimal. Service is great - save in particular is ridiculously friendly but not in an annoying way. Tiramisu is well worth go. Cozy space. Take away not recommended however - pizza is not the same if not eaten fresh and hot immediately. Keel it up guys - you're killing it.

Upon walking into SODO you are instantly embraced with this warm feeling of comfort. I know it's just pizza restaurant but it is some of the best pizza I've ever had!Let's start with the DO. The freshly made sourdough acts as the perfect base for these wonderful pizza's. Once cooked the dough has an amazing crunch while still being chewy and soft. The slight chare on the crust adds that extra flavour which is needed for any great pizza. The kitchen were nice enough to once show me the next days dough still rising. It was like a window into a delicious future.Having tried all the pizzas the one I keep coming back to is the "Jon bon chovi". The mix of Chili's, anchovies, mozzarella and parsley create a wonderful symphony of flavour. Their chili oil is so good I've been forced to buy myself a bottle.The starters and desserts are all very good. With the burratta and tiramisu being my go to choice. And the staff treat you like family every time you come.It is a mix of the friendly staff and amazing food that keeps me coming back. I've been meaning to take photos for a while now but the sight of that pizza makes me forget all reason and logic.

We were there on Tuesday the 4th for early Dinner. The place is very, very small but seems nice and relaxing. Staff was absolutely fantastic, very friendly, smiling and relaxed. We ordered a meat plate to start, then pizzas Lorena and Sunny Goat.The meat plate was a bit dissapointing, the portion was very, very small with literally one little piece of bread cut on half, 1/8 of pickle, few slices of each meat that I believe it would not be enough even for one person while we had it to share between two. Based on the photo found on restaurant's facebook profie we got half of the portion expected. Then we were served the ordered pizza that was both very nice but not particularly "Wow". The dough was under seasoned what made a difference to the final product but the toppings was nice and rich that saved the general feeling about the Sodo. All together we had a very nice, relaxing time with absolutely fantastic, friendly Staff and nice, homemade but not extraordinary food.We give it a "very good" as we think it's much more than "average" but still think "good" would be much more accurate option for what Sodo is.However, we both thought that the place is worth it visiting and for sure is a very nice discover along Clapton, so far surrounded by million of Chicken or Chinese take aways.

But a bit hipster if you eat in. Love that they do take away and it's clearly a popular opinion as there's always lots of people with Sodo boxes on our street. Great pizza choices, different to your usual fare. Nice selection of drinks also. Worth a visit if you're looking for a nice restaurant in Upper Clapton.

I was really impressed with what they have done with such a small space. We sat close to kitchen and it was interesting to see them make the food. The pizza was tasty and filling. They were in such high demand that they started to run out of food towards the end of the evening and had to stop taking take away orders. Very impressive

Was looking forward to visiting this new local pizzeria, really lovely looking restaurant, intimate and cosy. Sadly pizza's were lacking in topping and very dry, I like my pizza's cheesey and this isn't the place for that, and maybe I'm just missing a trick. Great service and cute restaurant but it's a very simple pizza's that average on price at about £10 a pop, which is fine if it was a bloody delicious pizza taste explosion, but it ain't, and I do the rounds on the pizza scene.

This is such a simple pizza restaurant, but unbelievably good. Don't come here expecting a huge menu and American style pizza, do come here if you want authentic Italian Style pizza with only 6-7 different pizzas available but all of them cooked to perfection with quality ingredients.All of this topped off with friendly service, a lovely cosy atmosphere and pizzas being made and cooked in an open kitchen.Would recommend booking because it is always busy and often fully booked - absolutely little hidden gem of a place.

Nice selection of pizzas with fresh new additions to surprise you sometimes. Drinks are organic homemade and really tasty, service is amazing and the local is really cool... Recreated the essence of independent perfectly! I knows it sounds silly, but I'm always awaiting to finish to order my affogatto (sorry for the spell), is this amazing ice cream over some espresso coffee.... Best tiramisu in London! The service was great and the pizzas are the best you can get outside of Italy. On top of everything, you can even take a piece of the restaurant home with you as a souvenir - they offer the cool tomato sauce cans to take for free.

Great menu, limited choice so real quality. What they do they do very well. Staff friendly and professional. Go here regularly on Sunday evenings with the children, they love the meat platters. Sunday

Great sourdough pizza where you can taste the freshness. Had a combo of the Cured Meat, green salad and burratina, all of which were amazing. Staff are spot on and the selection of beers and wines really compliments the food. Definitely worth checking out

Where to start... the pizzas are delicious (personal favourite is the Cured Meat), with clearly a lot of attention paid to the quality of the ingredients. I'm also a fan of the homemade ginger ale! Staff are very friendly and service is ace, would recommend to anyone!

This is probably the best pizza I have ever had. The menu is small and simple, but it doesn't need anything more, they have everything you need. There is a good selection of craft beers and the staff are lovely as well, the manager even got the sourdough out and explained how they make it!

Listen I moved here from New York City about 6 months ago and this is some of the best pizza I've ever had. Ponder that. I keep eating it all the time so I figure I should do you all a solid and tell you about it. Get the Dirty Boy or the Lorena. Or really anything else. They're so creative with toppings and the most unexpected combinations are always the best. Oh yeah, also get the burritina thing as an appetizer. Its a big ball of fresh mozzarella cheese with basil and olive oil. Cut pieces of it and eat it with your pizza if you want to change your entire life for the better. The inside is really intimate and chic. If you're a guy, bring a girl here and start with a bottle of prosecco. She'll go bananas.

Full disclosure-- We'd been wanting to go to Sodo for a while since it's only ten minutes from home and I'd read such great things,so my expectations were really high. Usually that leads to disappointment but not so with Sodo. We started with some fabulous olives and a couple glasses of red. Pizza was amazing (winter goat and a special with burratina and Parma ham were both to die for), crispy, delicious crust, flavorful toppings and just the right amount of mozzarella and sauce. We were liberal with the chili oil placed on our table, which was nice and spicy. Finished the meal off with the drunken adffogato, but will definitely try the tiramisu next time as it also looked great. Reservations recommended especially on weekends/for groups as the place is small (we lucked out and got a table walking in, but wouldn't count on it). Service was friendly without hovering, and price was very good for quantity/quality-- 40£ plus service for starter, two pizzas, two glasses of wine and a dessert. If you haven't gone yet and live nearby you'll kick yourself for all the delicious pizza you missed out on, I know I'll be back soon.

We were visiting family in London and called in here for a pizza. I did not have high expectations given the location and the look of the building from outside but it turned out to be excellent. One of the best pizzas I have had in many years. The pizza base was delicious and the toppings tasty and plentiful. The home made ginger beer was very good too although a little too fiery for my taste. The staff were very friendly and the prices reasonable.

Small menu with just 7-8 delicious, authentic pizzas, run by some young Italian boys. Cheap as chips and such a charming little place, been 3-4 times and never been disappointed.

This cafe has one of the best pizza ever tried in London. The area is Upper Clapton and at first sight you wouldn't expect it to hide such a great pizza place. I wouldn't say they make the classic italian pizza but I can say the products are fresh, very selected, the mix of ingredients is clever and simple at the same time. They have few pizzas on the menu but special pizzas everyday. The room is cosy and comfy and the sweet atmosphere is completed with a very kind group of guys who serve you very quickly. We went there once, we retuned with friends, we will come back as soon as possible. The place is small, so you'd better book a table in advance.

The ginger beer (alcohol version) is just addictive! Mmmmm try the coffee with ice cream as dessert... Affogatto (sorry Italy, I tried....) named! You just will fall in love... This place is amazing. I've now tried all 4 of the main pizzas, and have been impressed with them all. Great value for money. In the summer they have a little yard out the back that you can dine in.

We live close to sodo but even if we didn't we would make the trip to go. I am a chef and hard to please but this is definitely the best pizza in London and the service is great. It's small so try to book ahead . Occasionally they don't make enough dough balls and run out so go earlier.

Definitely some of the best pizza I've had in London, they get it right with a simple menu, great atmosphere and personal friendly service. it is small and popular so I would recommend booking, especially later in the week

the pizza was really. probably the best ive ever had in london. id travel up to clapton to get it. House wine was decent. and the courtyard out the back is the perfect spot to sit (weather permitting)

My son advised us to go to this pizza cafe as he lives opposite and we were staying at his place. OH MY GOODNESS, this was definately the best ever pizza we have ever had.My daughter and myself went to eat there, it was busy when we arrived but the young man who owns it soon got us a table, we were lucky enough to get the last sourdough pizza ball for that day. We had the margerita pizza and the green salad with pine nuts. The portions were very generous and satisfied us, we had 2 rounds of drinks also and the bill was less than £25.00, a bargain! The staff were attentive and friendly, well recommended if you can get a table. Thanks to all at SODO for fantastic time.

This restaurant initially seems a little out of place sitting next to a load of betting shops, 1-pound stores etc. but I think it's the beginning of more and more 'gentrified' establishments to come in Clapton.These guys make their own tasty chilli oil, which for which I give them respect. The pizza is all made from scratch and has an authentic Italian taste and feel to it. We had the cured meats pizza, and it was evident they'd used some quality ingredients.This is one of those places that keeps their beer glasses in the freezer before they serve it to you. This makes a huge difference to how refreshing their already great selection of East London beers taste.As some others have said, perhaps the service could be a little chattier and friendlier, but it's not bad.If you're in the area and after pizza, this is the place to come.
