Unbelievable restaurant, if you’re in bexhill… VISIT! Authentic Latin American food all my family loved. Great hospitality too! Thanks guys :)

We visited here after reading great reviews. Regrettably what we have just experienced for £60 has been appalling. Two dishes arrived before drinks - they were actually intended for another table it later transpired. The seafood cocktail was barely defrosted seafood mix in a watery ‘sauce’, the waiter had no idea what the dishes were, the cocktails took forever to arrive..it goes on. When I complained I was told the chef was away and they were trying to cover things. They were failing miserably. I’m genuinely anticipating the possibility that we will have food plus from tonight. Do not believe the photos before on here - we saw nothing like those dishes tonight.

Popped in on the off chance this evening and was pleasantly surprised. Such lovely food and 2 for 1 cocktails! The staff were very friendly. We will definitely be returning.

A small restaurant in a busy shopping street just off the seafront and close to the De La Warr Pavilion. We visited prior to a show at the Pavilion. It was comfortably busy. Mexican/South American cuisine freshly prepared and served tapas style. Adequate choice of wine/beer. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. Would happily eat there again (but we live 40miles away).

Had a fantastic meal here. We got the 5 tapas for 4, which is enough to share between two people. There was a lovely selection of meat and seafood tapas. The food comes out when it's ready, which works out really well otherwise you would have too much tapas on the table. The staff were really friendly throughout the meal and a real credit to the restaurant. Would definitely visit again.

Beautiful rustic decor, authentic food and great service! We ordered 5 Tapas dishes for the price of 4. Each dish had its own unique flavour. I’ll definitely be visiting again.

We were visiting a friend in Bexhill on the Bank Holiday weekend and we suggested she book this restaurant on what turned out to be a very rainy Saturday lunchtime. The waiter very kindly took our soaking wet coats to hang up while we considered the drinks list. Two of us tried the South American beer (a bit pricey but it was imported) and the other went for a reliable Argentinian Malbec. The set price lunch menu (£14.95) provided enough choice for one vegetarian and two meat eaters. All the dishes chosen were cooked to order, tasty, fresh and in generous portions. We were not familiar with the cuisine but it seemed to be authentic and the waiter explained that it was predominantly Brazilian. We enjoyed the food and the personal service and would be happy to go again when in the town. The friend who lives there is sure to be a repeat customer.

Delicious, excellent quality food in relaxed surroundings. The tapas were amazing - fresh, light and spicy flavours. Highly recommended.

We have been here several times before and it never disappoints. Friendly service, delicious food and great place to be. Highly recommended, especially the beetroot tatar and the Brazilian chicken dumpling ( sorry, can't remember the name). We love coming here every time we visit Bexhill.

My partner found this little gem on the internet and we decided to come over to have dinner, we didn't book in advance but Benjy happily let us pick the table we wanted. As soon as we sat down Benjy came over with some water and the menus, my partner took some time to choose what he wanted as there were quite a few things he couldn't pick between, he eventually went with the squid and the beef skewer, I went with the beetroot tartre and the bread with herby oil, I can't understate how good the food was, I should have stopped eating about half way through the bread but I refused to waste any of it! The chef Malcolm is amazing and both the staff were brilliant! If you find yourself in Bexhill and are hungry, then you need to go and see the the range of amazing food that Malcolm cooks, I know for certain that I'm taking my partner back there to try the lunch time tapas....

Had a lovely tapas lunch very reasonable and freshly cooked. Nice bottle of white and very friendly service. Very enjoyable. Will return.

Wandered in on a rainy night in Bexhill. We had no booking but received a warm welcome. Wonderful range of dishes on offer, great flavours, and very easy to eat as a coeliac (gluten-free). Will definitely be back when next in the area.

Our first visit to this restaurant, after a local recommendation. Absolutely delicious curry ( Xinxim De Galicia), followed by an equally delicious desert ( Tres Leches). Will definitely be returning. Complements to the chef! One of the very best meals we’ve enjoyed in Bexhill. Thank you 😊👍

I don’t understand the reviews on here. Staff are very friendly and the food is good - but it’s absolutely not exceptional and prices are insanely high. Bison is a novelty but the price premium doesn’t make sense. My lamb was good - but not cooked in any special way or in an exceptional sauce and served on cold plates which meant everything cooled down quickly on the table. I doubt this will last as the novelty wears off and Bexhill locals search for better value - which is sad as it’s basically sound but pitched wrongly

Absolutely amazing restaurant, lovely friendly staff, the manageress has a lovely way with her staff and customers as does the young waitress. We took our 9 yr old here on Saturday night just gone, he decided on the crocodile , which he loved, husband had bison and myself the peanut lemon curry, all beautiful meals, the yuka chips are delish! All meals cooked and presented beautifully. Desserts were very nice too, we had the banana crepes. I just wish we could pick this restuarant up and re site it in Essex as we were away when we ate here! If you’re reading these reviews dithering whether to book , do it, you won’t be dissapointed !

Me and my fiancee visited Sobremesa restaurant for the first time on the 26/08/2021. We found the the restaurant on google and were very keen in trying 'a taste of Latin America'. Not knowing what to expect as we have never tried dishes from this area I wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. Every dish was cooked to perfection, well presented and the different amount of flavour in each dish that we had was amazing. We had steak tartare for starter. Bison, Crocodile as mains, chocoflan & tres leches for desert. Recommend all of it specially the crocodile (which is something that I never expected to eat in my life) and No it does not taste like chicken. The manager was very friendly and gave us good suggestions.

A lovely experience for our wedding anniversary. Lots of choices of dishes that I haven't come across before. Beautifully cooked and presented without being pretentious. It was all good, but my favourite was the tuna special, which was melt-in-the-mouth perfect. Knowledgeable and attentive staff who also made a few special touches for our anniversary.

Its great to have a restaurant in the neighbourhood that serves up tradition South American food. Sobremesa is such a great experience - the food is cooked with love you feel it in the food. I love this restaurant and the food is fantastic...

Lovely food and very welcoming, knowledgable staff. A good meal on a slightly damp and windy summer’s day. We will return next time we are in Bexhill. The fajita portion is large be warned!

Our first trip to Sobramesa last night was excellent.Kim and Sarah the waitresses were both extremely kind and personable, nothing was too much, they both also make some great cocktails. My partner and I shared the ocean basket which was delicious and HUGE! Yes we would recommend and yes we will 100% be going back!

WE came last night and had a fantastic time, the service was great and very friendly. WE started with a cocktail which i must say was amazing and we shared a starter, then i tackled the Cartel burger which was the most delicious burger i have ever had also my wife tried the Bison steak which she loved and was cooked perfect medium rare which pleased her. Will defiantly be back, thanx guys

We booked this restaurant as I was impressed with the unusual menu - Brazilian and South American twists but not your usual Mexican. I was getting tired of the same old British pub food and wanted something different to celebrate a wedding anniversary. Wasn't disappointed at all. Freshly cooked by a really good chef. My husband had the crab starter followed by lamb shank both were delicious and I had a delicious fish of the day which was plaice but flavoursome as it had been marinated accompanied with samphire (which I love) and sweet sauteed potatoes. The restaurant owner spoke to us and the service was excellent and friendly. And to crown it all they gave us a free selection of their desserts to celebrate. Would highly recommend this restaurant and wish we had one in our area. Unfortunately, East Sussex is more than a day trip!

A small restaurant, with friendly and helpful staff - our waitress was Kim. The service was very fast, and the food was excellent. The portions were massive, which is great, but if you want to go for three courses, I'd recommend shying away from having lunch beforehand.

We spent an evening here following a recommendation and had just the most fabulous time. The food was delicious, cocktails were amazing and the service was superb. The seafood sharing platter was overflowing with wonderful treats and we enjoyed every moment. We also tried desserts that we hadn’t ever tried before.We can’t wait to come back!

Visited last night for a lovely meal and Spanish guitar music. Very tasty starters and delicious main courses. Needing low-carb options was no problem and plenty of vegetables and salad were offered instead of potatoes/chips. They were very obliging.

We have visited this hidden gem many times over the past couple of years and can honestly say it’s one of our favourite restaurants. Always greeted with smiling faces from the wonderful staff. Cannot fault the food - the look, the flavour combinations, the fresh produce and it always tastes insanely good! We’ve bought four or five different groups of friends and family and everyone has always loved it! It’s the best food I’ve had outside of London. The new cocktails are a winner too! I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to try something a bit different that tastes wonderful! Can’t wait to go back already!

The restaurant could do with thorough clean, can barely see through the front windows! We was looking forward to our meal here after reading the reviews but we were both left really disappointed. It was very spicy and over priced.

The food sobremesa is really lovely, freshly cooked with lovely ingredients. Well worth a visit a little gem for Bexhill-On-Sea.

We chose this restaurant as my wife is from Peru and we wanted somewhere authentically Latino, and Sobremesa most certainly is! We were a little apprehensive at first as the Bexhill main street is quite tired and Sobremesa looked similar, however we stuck with it and were glad that we did. The food was excellent, the wine very tasty, and Kim our hostess certainly knew her trade inside out. Don't hestitate, go for it!

The menu choices were really interesting and very tasty. Staff very good and everything was well organised and felt safe.

Most highly recommendable restaurant. Fabulous food, delightful service and ammiable ambiance. The South American menu provides a unique dining experience. We had beef dishes and they were marvellous.

We have had several takeaway meals from this restaurant in the past 2 months and I cannot fault anything about the food or the service. We have had different meals and they have all been superb, the portions are large and well worth the money, especially the paellas which are outstanding. The owners are very friendly, approachable and willing to accommodate special requests. We would highly recommend this restaurant and plan to carry on enjoying meals from there.

Last week we ordered a take away. It was ready for collection on time as promised and was really delicious. We will be using the service again. Quality was superb.

I am a big fan the food is amazing, one of the best restaurants I have ever been too... I moved away from Bexhill earlier in the ear so worked out I was 25 mins away so chanced a take away .. the food is prepared fresh so it was still nice and hot when I got home.. wow the food was amazing... I can’t wait to go again..

Excellent, interesting food, beautifully presented. We walked past the restaurant during the day and it looked a little shabby and we almost cancelled our booking but we’re so glad we didn’t. Inside, at night, there was a lovely ambience and a warm welcome from staff. It makes a real change to be faced with an original menu and choices we’ve never previously tasted. We had to wait as the dishes were freshly prepared - which is fine - and we weren’t disappointed. The crocodile and duck breast starters were most notable. Give it a try - fresh, different and tasty. Around £90 for two with beers and wine.

We pre-booked this restaurant due to covid and we were not disappointed. The restaurant was situated right near our hotel ,The Driftwood (also highly of recommend), which was handy. The restaurant from the outside looks fun and cute, but it did not prepare us for the absolute taste sensation we were about to embark upon. Husband is a pescatarian and was well provided for in terms of vegetarian/fish dishes. I stepped out of my comfort zone and had the tuna and palm hearts tartare, which was other worldly in terms of taste, so fresh and different. I also had the Bison Rib eye, which was tender and delicious. Husband had nachos to start and Xinxim de Galinha vegan option as a main, both yummy and beautifully presented. Service was excellent and we had a really lovely time. Would return in a heart beat.

We had the Sunday special of the meat sofar (meat) paella which was pleasingly sticky and had some sharp flavours too. The tapas which we ate as starters were superb and an indication that we will really enjoy returning to try the a la carte. The cod was a revelation

Fantastic restaurant. 10 out of 10. Fully deserved 5 stars.Firstly, the restaurant is very clean, spacious and respects the Covid rules.The food is brilliant, I highly recommend. Fresh and tasty food, the portion sizes are great, the food is presented exceptionally well, my partner and I couldn't fault them & thoroughly enjoyed our meal.Font of house is very good. The waitress was very polite, friendly and helpful.I highly recommend - If you haven't tried them out then you should - perfect.Thank you :) will return soon.

Having eaten at Sobremesa previously and experienced an amazing culinary adventure we decided to try the Sunday Tapas and it was yet another memorable meal. We were greeted by Malcolm who is not only an incredible chef but a wonderful host. Not being familiar with the Tapas, Juliana, our friendly waitress, recommended the Gambas al Ajillo, Calamres Fritos Berenjenas Fritas and the Champinones al Ajillo all of which were flavoursome and distinctly unique, a great recommendation. We finished off the meal with a Dolce de Leche Cheesecake, which we shared and was another culinary delight. If you haven't already been to Sobremesa already suggest you give it a try, we can't wait to go back again!!

Visited Sobremesa on Saturday night and everything about it was fabulous! The atmosphere was lovely and cosy, and the food was DELICIOUS. I had the Xinxim curry and it was one of the best meals I’ve had. Plus the two waitresses who were working were so lovely and helpful too! Due to the 10pm curfew there was a lot of pressure on fitting in their bookings in a more reduced time window, but even though there was a bit of a wait on the food we left feeling very happy and wanting to return! Couldn’t recommend this place more!

Sensational !!! If you like meat the Bison Steak was fantastic. The whole night could not be faulted with great food and wonderful staff. Would recommend without question ....

Had a lovely meal including the best nachos we've had before, tasty enchiladas and crepes for dessert. All delicious and the waitress was so friendly and helpful.

Three tables set up for outside dining , had a wonderful meal , can reccomend the squid starter , all in all a lovely meal with lovely people

Myself and my partner went to this restaurant last night and had a lovely time. Despite the covid restrictions the restaurant was setup nicely with spacings and all the usual refinements of hand sanitiser. Both the hostess and the waitress were friendly, warm and helpful and the atmosphere was great. The food was amazing, I had the nachos to start and the enchiladas for main. Portion size out did me but was lovely. We will be back soon for the mojito’s which I’ve heard are amazing! Thanks guys

The Chef/Owner is really passionate about the food/service here and it really shows. Superb food if you're happy to wait a little. It will be worth it. Highly recommended.

We came here after looking at the other reviews on tripadvisor. We were not disappointed.The food is to die for, the Alpaca steak was one of the best meals I have had this year, and the pork tamales were beautiful.The dulche de leche cheesecake, is not to be missed either.Booking process was easy on the website, everything was socially distanced suitably, with the menu accessible via a qr code on our mobile phones.The staff are friendly. Service was a little slow, but that did not matter us.We will definitely be back the next time we are in the area.

Absolutely fantastic flavours with a South American bent - some truly unique and interesting ingredients and dishes. Our most conservative choice - nachos - the best we've had ever.

Visited on the 2nd day of reopening after lockdown. Booking is essential as tables are limited. Contact between staff & customers is reduced by menus via a QR code & all drinks & food orders being taken at the same time. There waa supposed to be an 1hr & 30 minute turn around, but luckily this was not adhered to as our main courses had not arrived after 90 minutes.The food was good & filling, they did run out of certain wine though.

Although we couldn't eat in, it was great to be able to get a takeaway from this fabulous place. The food was delicious and plentiful. Looking forward to when it reopens for dining in.

Ordered takeout from here and can not fault it one bit! Food was fresh, delicious, generous portion sizes and not overly priced. Will most definitely be ordering from here again!

We ordered a takeaway meal for a special Saturday evening. The food was beautifully wrapped to keep the heat. Paella was wonderful, rasty prawns, squid and mussels. The belly pork is to die for. Our chicken and lamb chop dishes were also very tasty..Portions are very generous. This has to be the best ready cooked meal to be had for miles around. It's already Bexhill's best restaurant. Try it.

You know it's going to be a good meal when you look at the menu and you want to try everything on it. I went with the burrito and it was absolutely delicious, and I was so impressed with the portion size. To make the whole experience even better when collecting our food we spoke to the owners who are truly lovely. Delicious food, fantastic menu, great value for money, and lovely owners - I don't know what else you could want when looking for a place to eat. Without question if you're looking for takeaway during lockdown this is the place to go to. Cannot wait for them to open up so we can return and work our way through their whole menu.

Tried the Coxinha, calamares and sea bass. All were lovely, especially the sea bass, all bones removed cooked in a leaf. Will definitely have them again. Great delivery service!

My wife had her birthday and in quarantine I had to attempt on doing something special and that would mean an extraordinary take away or delivery.The delivery was arranged 2 days in advance as I wanted to be sure it would happen on a specific date and time as it involved a meeting from different people around the world. The delivery was on time and the taste as excellent as in the restaurant.This is most certainly the best restaurant in Bexhill!!!

Home delivery of belly pork and chicken ximxim which was delicious! So helpful and friendly when ordering and arranging the delivery. First class!

We had a meal here on Saturday evening, this was our first time and definitely not the last. The food was amazing all freshly cooked to perfection. The flavours as well that went into our dishes were perfect. All the staff were very attentive, knowledgeable and helpful but not over the top in any way.I had the Crocodile which was a first, this is highly recommended.A great place, great food and great people what more can you ask for.

I went with my husband and two other couples last Sunday for lunch at Sobremesa. We had been saying for a while to go for Paella , it being one of my husbands favourite dishes . We have been to Sobremesa many times and it never ceases to amaze with its fabulous food and flavours . We took two other couples also Paella fans who had not been to Sobremesa before. It didn’t disappoint it was fantastic the prawns were so big and the flavour of the rice perfect.Also full marks for presentation . We all enjoyed it and one gentleman had the bison and was equally impressed . Definitely be back for Sunday lunch .

We visited as a family on a Sunday afternoon and enjoyed the Paella which was absolutely delicious.Again, the service was fantastic. So hospitable, and made to feel so welcome.We ordered the chocolate lava cake again which was beautifully molten. It's not too spicy for children either so would strongly recommend.A beautiful place run by beautiful people, we hope to be back soon.

Visited the restaurant for the first time last night. Wow, just so lovely and unpretentious! Kim and Lizzy looked after us so well and created a really relaxed environment for us to really enjoy the simply amazing food. All freshly prepared and cooked to order, which meant we waited a little longer, but so worth the wait. I wish I had found it sooner and will be returning.

Visiting family we enjoyed one of the best meals we’ve had in ages - just wish we had something of this standard in Wokingham. Mind you if we had they would be fully booked every day of the week with a months reservation list!

I have been dining at Sobramesa and had a wonderful experience. The staff is very friendly and professional, including the chef. Had the most amazing beef skewers with chimmirchurri sauce and seafood paella. Highly recommend! Don't forget to try the desserts too; the Dolce de lece is to die for as well as the banana crepes!

We booked for Valentines Day. The meal was excellent, wonderfully fresh ingredients. The service was excellent. The live music was also greatly appreciated. We will certainly be coming back soon

Really great food, really flavourful and very tasty, very very generous portions, the burger in particular is massive! The waitress was very friendly and answered all our questions. Would recommend!

I had heard a couple of friends rave about the food so we gave it a try one Friday evening. First thing to say is the service from Kim was excellent. Welcoming, friendly, professional and interested in the clientele. I had the ceviche as a starter and the slow cooked pork belly as a main, Both were delicious, with great depth of flavour and a great combination of textures. The pork just melted In the mouth. The food was a little salty but just about on the right side so as not to detract from the overall quality of the dish. A great find and we will be back.

Really tasty food full of flavour. BUT my main was so salty I couldn’t eat it. The people next to us said the same. I didn’t want to complain as it was my birthday and didn’t want to spoil the mood. Plus the waitress was so busy. 1 waitress for the whole restaurant which was full.

What a treat! Honestly some of the best restaurant food I have ever had. Generous portions. Presented beautifully & the tastes were delicious. Family restaurant run by delightful couple. Chef clearly loves what he does. We chose it randomly over pizza & so glad we did. My partner is vegetarian & had enchiladas & we shared the molton lava cake. Worth spending the extra & having starters too! Genuinely can’t recommend highly enough

Really enjoyed our meal here, we had the nachos for starters followed by enchiladas. Large portions which were very filling. The homemade guacamole’s was delicious.

Visited this delightful place on Sunday for a family celebration,the food was amazing and full of colour and flavour. The staff were friendly helpful and welcoming,if we lived closer it would become our local.

It is so nice to have a local really different restaurant serving  Latin American food of such great quality, with delicious fresh flavours. We have visited about 4 times, for various occasions and never been disappointed. We all had food envy with both starters and mains and ended up sharing round..Fabulous pescado con coco, beautifully cooked sea bream, with succulent seafood, while the braised lamb cooked in banana leaf was so tender and melt in the mouth, with spicy cabbage to provide an added twist.

This was a real treat. Great Brazilian food that was tasty and well presented. Lots of variety on the menu. Nice staff too.

I have held two birthdays this month at this restaurant, such a treat, food is excellent, and staff bend over backwards for you.

We had no expectations of this restaurant, but it was a great surprise. An unusual menu all cooked to order by a single guy in the kitchen. It was very tasty, good wine and a superfresh menu

my wife and i went for dinner on friday and the whole evening from start to end was fantastic. the two waitresses were super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu choices. The food was absolutely first class, sea bream ceviche was fresh and zesty and the king prawn starter was one of the best we have ever had.

We went here for dinner on a Saturday night with our good friends.

We had a paella this afternoon and if was extremely tasty- the best I have ever had. The dessert was also very good, as was the service. All in all a great experience and we will definitely be back for more!

Only two minor things prevented this from being a 5 star review. Firstly, we didn't get the olives we asked for pre-starter and secondly, the molten lava dessert was overcooked rather than molten.

You really must try this place. Every dish has the wow factor. Everything is cooked fresh and if you're willing to wait you will not be disappointed. Amazing chef/owner. Great service . We tried 4 different mains and desserts and they were all stunning. The best and largest burger I've ever seen. Can't believe we've got a place like this in Bexhill. Very highly recommend.

We've been here multiple times (not for a few weeks which we must rectify!) and it's consistently lovely. Anna is a wonderful hostess and her incredible chef husband cooks food to die for. It's not a cheap, fast, greasy food; it's well cooked, amazingly presented and thoughtful food. Well worth a visit.

A really excellent place with an extensive and really unusual menu and the staff were really attentive and professional.

This is no ordinary South American restaurant. Food is cooked to order so don’t be in a hurry. Absolutely delicious. We had paella but the menu included crocodile and python. Not a huge amount for a vegetarian but a great experience. The nachos are made on the premises and you can taste the difference. I would say though that both dishes I had were garlic heavy. Not a problem for me - but if going out after you may want to bring some mints! We are not local to this restaurant but are keen to return
