Snap Dragon Chinese Restaurant in Cardiff

Very expensive for what it is. Egg fried rice is boiled rice with less than half an egg. Chips are cardboard fries. The service is terrible. Some 70 odd year old Chinese woman giving evil looks to anyone that isn't chinese. Won't be back. Twice as expensive as other local takeaways and the food is worse.

Really tasty meal. We had crispy beef which was gorgeous and chicken in black bean sauce with egg fried rice. Very friendly staff. We will definitely order again.

Has been my fave take-out for a while, we went for a sit-in last week, it was clean and cosy, the staff were wonderful and the food was amazing, can't fault this place

Very authentic Chinese food. Menu is filled with so many interesting choices. I'll definitely be back to try some more food here. Would highly recommend. Cash only though (not sure if this is a one off thing or not)

I ordered my meal online via Deliveroo. They were no help when I wanted to complain - hence this review. Usually food from this restaurant is superb. My Chinese daughter in law buys from here. This week I ordered sweet and sour king prawns plus fried rice. Sad to say the meal was awful. The flattened prawns coated in batter were so tough and rubbery that I had to cut them with scissors. Ate one then threw the others in the food bin as they were inedible. The fried rice was uninspiring so that joined the rest in the bin. I’m so annoyed paying for a meal which is inedible. 🤬

Was recommended to try this place. It's now our favourite Chinese we have ever had. Super tasty and fresh good portions sizes. Highly recommended to try.

Rubbish food. Not authentic Sichuan food. Tiny portions. Avoid. No dishes to recommend as they're all completely wrong. Go to So Good on Crwys Road for the best authentic Chinese experience.

Could be the best Chinese food in Cardiff. A huge selection of authentic dishes - primarily northern Chinese cuisine. Our favourites were the clay pot sizzling tofu, the cold chicken salad with chilli and the stirfried beef noodles. Super friendly staff and homely feel. Great value too.

Absolutely horrible experience!!!!😡 We ordered a hot pot and they told us we could pick anything as much as we wanted to put in our hot pot. All the things they gave us were FREAKING FROZEN and some of them were out of stock!!! A guy working there told us it was 22.99£ per adult and 1/2 price for children, we agreed. When we were paying, he told us children had to pay full price!?!?!?! We DID NOT agree! He told us his manager did not agree with the price he had told us before. We ordered to speak to the manager and he said he was the manager and asked if we could change anything. A few seconds later the other lady told us he wasn’t. I told her, “Why do we have to pay that much for FLIPPiNG FROZEN FOOD, including the sweet corns!?”🤬🤬🤬 She told us other restaurants do the same thing and she likes frozen food. I definitely don’t recommend you to eat in this restaurant. To be honest this restaurant has ruined the reputation of Chinese cuisine.

Horrible experience in any way.

Had an early dinner here with a friend on a week night. We were the first in the restaurant. There is an English menu (standard British 'Chinese' food) and a Chinese menu (with English descriptions). There are dishes you might not want to try, like pig intestines or beef maw, but there are plenty in the Chinese menu that should appeal to British tastes. The pork buns and dim sum will have to be tried another time. We had smoked pork and pancakes, chicken and cashew nuts, and a tasty veg dish of aubergine, potato and peppers. Bottomless rice and a drink each for £40. Really liked the veg and the pork pancakes, which were a bit like parathas rather than the type you get with duck and plum sauce. The service was fast and friendly. It's unassuming from outside, but I think i will definitely go back soon.

Ordered boiled water beef £9.80 & stewed lamb sour soup 10.80 with boiled rice 2.30.. Authentic China food.. Good value.. No SST.. Will come again if back in Cardiff

Great food. Very friendly service. Lovely authentic place full of locals. Which I always think is a good sign.

Ordered through deliveroo and some items didn’t arrive! When I called the restaurant to ask to have them delivered I was told no, they were too busy and my only option was to order and pay for them again! Attitude was awful and the food that did arrive was lukewarm at best and just not great. Would not order again.

Good food, not bad value if you have an appetite as you can have a lot of hot pot within a 2 hour period.

Ordered through deliveroo. Ordered sweet and sour pork it was cold, greasey and full of fat. The dumplings were cold, and the spare ribs were ok but cold. One of the worst meals we have had through deliveroo.

Got sweet and sour chicken and egg fried rice for my kids last night and was probably the best I have had in a long time. Very good quality. Owner/staff were very friendly.

Worst Chinese ive ever tasted- ordered through Deliveroo to hotel. Salt and pepper starter £12 dry as a bone and didnt taste of anything. Crispy chilli (cardboard) beef was dry and tasteless. Not sure it had ever seen any beef think it was just dry batter. Meals didnt come with any sides so ordered a side of chips which were frozen skinny chips which also had the same taste as the crispy chilli. Would not recommend over £30 for a takeaway for 2 in my opinion was disgraceful!

This restaurant does cook genuine Chinese food to the best of their knowledge. I know because I am a Chinese originated in mainland China and have travelled extensively in China. I went there with my husband to celebrate the Chinese New Year's Eve. We ordered Chinese hotpot. Half way through eating I discovered that the vegetables were not washed, especially the pak choi which was just cut up and put on the plate and given to us. There's obviously dirt and mud on each layer of the stems. I was put off straight away. I would have given this restaurant a 4-star for its authenticity but the unhygienic conditions of it made me want to give it a zero star if there's an option. What a shame.

Visited for the first time along with friends . Very happy with restaurant interior and ambience , food and service received. Decided to order from the standard menu, fresh delicious and good portions of food . Nice , clean and tidy restaurant, will definitely visit again very soon.

A place to go for authentic Chinese food and fantastic hospitality. There are two menus to choose from - one for more familiar food for Westerners, and one for tastes that are more similar to what you might find in China. Very friendly service and always amazed this place isn't talked about more. Have been twice so far and happy to go again.

Went there last Friday driving past earlier in week never noticed it before thought try this , as bit of foodie .Went there 5-30 pm did not book only small about 40 seats . at that time about 16 people eating.we were give 1 menu european but noticed another menu with most other tables had was Authentic Asian food have to be andventorus to try non euro but great food staff etc in two hours were there only us were non asian says it all . good value

The owner was very accomodating and even stayed open much past the advertised time till we finished. It was a lovely visit, we will definitely be back.

Fine dining it is not, a much more casual affair but let me put ut into context...we were the only non asian family in there...speaks volumes! The tastes, quality and quantity were amazing, and the owner couldn't do enough for us. With a sweet dish on the house for us to try (deep fried battered milk) it made for a fantastic experience. Highly recommended!

Came here with the family on a Thursday night, service was very good, food was excellent we were offered two different menu types , we chose off the traditional Chinese menu and were not dissapointed, Hats off we will definitely be coming back soon

True authentic Chinese restaurant! This is pretty rare in Cardiff, so I strongly advise to pay a visit to them! Great choice of food too :)

The crispy duck, one of their main dishes was really dry and looked like the just put it in a shredder. It is none like the pictures suggest.

Brilliant Chinese food! Dont forget to ask for the menu for Chinese people and you will explore the AUTHENTIC CHINESE FOOD!
