Snap Dragon Chinese Restaurant in Cardiff

Really tasty meal. We had crispy beef which was gorgeous and chicken in black bean sauce with egg fried rice. Very friendly staff. We will definitely order again.

I ordered my meal online via Deliveroo. They were no help when I wanted to complain - hence this review. Usually food from this restaurant is superb. My Chinese daughter in law buys from here. This week I ordered sweet and sour king prawns plus fried rice. Sad to say the meal was awful. The flattened prawns coated in batter were so tough and rubbery that I had to cut them with scissors. Ate one then threw the others in the food bin as they were inedible. The fried rice was uninspiring so that joined the rest in the bin. I’m so annoyed paying for a meal which is inedible. 🤬

Had an early dinner here with a friend on a week night. We were the first in the restaurant. There is an English menu (standard British 'Chinese' food) and a Chinese menu (with English descriptions). There are dishes you might not want to try, like pig intestines or beef maw, but there are plenty in the Chinese menu that should appeal to British tastes. The pork buns and dim sum will have to be tried another time. We had smoked pork and pancakes, chicken and cashew nuts, and a tasty veg dish of aubergine, potato and peppers. Bottomless rice and a drink each for £40. Really liked the veg and the pork pancakes, which were a bit like parathas rather than the type you get with duck and plum sauce. The service was fast and friendly. It's unassuming from outside, but I think i will definitely go back soon.

Ordered through deliveroo and some items didn’t arrive! When I called the restaurant to ask to have them delivered I was told no, they were too busy and my only option was to order and pay for them again! Attitude was awful and the food that did arrive was lukewarm at best and just not great. Would not order again.

Ordered through deliveroo. Ordered sweet and sour pork it was cold, greasey and full of fat. The dumplings were cold, and the spare ribs were ok but cold. One of the worst meals we have had through deliveroo.

Worst Chinese ive ever tasted- ordered through Deliveroo to hotel. Salt and pepper starter £12 dry as a bone and didnt taste of anything. Crispy chilli (cardboard) beef was dry and tasteless. Not sure it had ever seen any beef think it was just dry batter. Meals didnt come with any sides so ordered a side of chips which were frozen skinny chips which also had the same taste as the crispy chilli. Would not recommend over £30 for a takeaway for 2 in my opinion was disgraceful!

Visited for the first time along with friends . Very happy with restaurant interior and ambience , food and service received. Decided to order from the standard menu, fresh delicious and good portions of food . Nice , clean and tidy restaurant, will definitely visit again very soon.

A place to go for authentic Chinese food and fantastic hospitality. There are two menus to choose from - one for more familiar food for Westerners, and one for tastes that are more similar to what you might find in China. Very friendly service and always amazed this place isn't talked about more. Have been twice so far and happy to go again.

Went there last Friday driving past earlier in week never noticed it before thought try this , as bit of foodie .Went there 5-30 pm did not book only small about 40 seats . at that time about 16 people eating.we were give 1 menu european but noticed another menu with most other tables had was Authentic Asian food have to be andventorus to try non euro but great food staff etc in two hours were there only us were non asian says it all . good value

We are visitors to Cardiff an wanted a chinese, after a quick search, a few options came up and we are so glad we picked Snap Dragon. The food is simply outstanding. Fine dining it is not, a much more casual affair but let me put ut into context...we were the only non asian family in there...speaks volumes! The tastes, quality and quantity were amazing, and the owner couldn't do enough for us. With a sweet dish on the house for us to try (deep fried battered milk) it made for a fantastic experience. Highly recommended!

Came here with the family on a Thursday night, service was very good, food was excellent we were offered two different menu types , we chose off the traditional Chinese menu and were not dissapointed, Hats off we will definitely be coming back soon
