Smoke And Soul in Aberdeen City

We visited for a dinner before Lemon Tree event. It was busy night but staff did their best to stay on top of things and were very friendly still. Food was great. We had non alcoholic bear from tap and it was fabulous. Recommend visit for anyone looking for a good beer or very tasty 'beige' food.

Really poor food, good beer. Burger was low average with small poor fires. Not worth £10 let alone £20

Raw chicken burger, cold mac & cheese tatter tots instead of fries which i ordered 🤦🏻‍♂️ Waited 30mins for my takeaway. Needed to go ask what was happening with my food and was told they had made it already but it went cold so they were making me a new one. Got it 10mins later. Took it away but then seen I had tatter tots instead of fries. The mac and cheese was cold, took 2 bites of the chicken burger and then tasted and seen it was raw. Very disappointing. I've been to smoke and soul a few times and alway had a good meal but after that tonight I won't be back.

First time here. Friendly attentive staff. Fantastic range of craft beer, I had low alcohol AF which was lovely. I had the classic burger which was ace. The portion size was ideal for me, but I can imagine it might not be enough for a few hungry peeps. I shall be back for sure.

Burgers are disappointing and over priced, service is very poor and tables are dirty. Two burgers and drinks cost us £55, Super disappointing.

Mi pareja y yo visitamos Smoke and Soul sábado por la tarde para tomar unas copas antes de una comida más tarde en la noche. Pedí las alas de búfalo de su menú de bocados pequeños, 5 más o menos llegaron. Trabajé a través de las alas antes de morder la más grande y última, descubriendo que estaba cruda en el medio. Hablé con la camarera, le enseñé el ala y se fue a la cocina para avisarles. Ella volvió y me dijeron 'la cocina dice que era imposible, no puede estar cruda las alas están todo el tiempo cocinadas'. Una vez más, le enseñé el ala cruda y dije que si uno es el doble del tamaño de los otros, entonces un cocinero del tiempo no va a funcionar. Seré claro, el resto de las alas fueron cocinadas a la perfección pero meter todas las alas durante X minutos sin importar el tamaño es peligroso por esta misma razón. La camarera llevó el ala de vuelta a la cocina, y luego reapareció disculpándose de la cocina y ofreciendo otro plato de alas. Cortésmente rechazamos las alas, pagamos por nuestras bebidas y nos fuimos. Mi problema aquí no era sólo el ala cruda, sino la completa falta de rendición de cuentas o de presencia de la administración. Ningún gerente de bar, nadie de la cocina vino a hablar con nosotros, esta pobre camarera estaba de ida y vuelta entre la cocina y nosotros llevando un mensaje de ellos. El lugar no estaba ocupado, no estábamos allí para hacer una escena o conseguir bebidas gratis, pero por qué una disculpa de segunda mano de la cocina se consideró una respuesta apropiada a envenenar a alguien potencialmente es inaceptable con toda franqueza.

Chips - bueno Salsa de queso - bueno Hamburguesa - por encima de la media ¿Qué faltaba? Humo. ¡Vamos, compra una parrilla de pellets o un fumador offset de carbón o cambia tu nombre a humo infundido por pimentón!

La comida estaba bien, me hubiera gustado una empanada de mejor calidad en la hamburguesa, pero todavía decente. Sin embargo, las mesas estaban sucias sin un miembro del personal a la vista para limpiarlas. No volvería.

No es la mejor experiencia, nos topamos con Humo y Alma en Facebook en busca de grandes lugares en Edimburgo para que los niños coman. Intentamos apoyar un lugar independiente pero a £ 12 : 50 para una hamburguesa básica sin papas fritas acompañantes, etc, no puedo recomendar esto. Mis hijos necesitaban más comida de Sainsbury caminando de regreso al tranvía.

Just about good enough but no drink menus at the tables & better food in that style up the road at Maggie's Grill.

Como se llama, el fogón, esperas que se sirva un poco de carne decente de una barbacoa. Food arrived to quickly. Pouting ordered. Cheese was unheated meat had no heat in it, sauce was warm. Dissapointing. Despite the time elapsed since finishing the meal, no one has been to either check back or collect dirty plates. In the location's previous incarnation it was better. Improvement needed

Solo diner mid week looking to try something local and different to the 'other' Aberdeen brewery... The on-tap beer selection was wide and the food looked really tasty on the menu too and reading about the company got me amped for a good meal. The weissen was crisp and fresh, unfortunately the food was anything but. The buffalo chicken sandwich was cold and soggy, and really un-buffalo-y, both the fries and tomato salsa with the jalapeño poppers were plain bland. The jalapeño poppers themselves were better, crispy and hot. Admittedly, I was starving, so ate most of it but should have spoken up sooner. When asked how it was at the end, I shared this with my server and he (Euan I believe) took it on, I heard him share this with the kitchen and we resolved it there and then. Absolute asset to your business. It was quiet but I liked the style of the place, bet it's pretty good on the weekends and for events etc. (The music playing whilst I was there was really on point!) Wish the place every success (hence the 4 stars), but recommend they up the food QC and maybe tweak the menu.

Man, good burger joint. Nice range of smoked foods, with exceptional burger and fries. I usually hate cheese sauce, but they even pulled that off too. Some good IPA on tap too. Will go back!

We couldn’t get in. The place was as half full but our family were unable to get a table here for a drink. We get it’s a busy weekend but they could have at least offered a table for an hour. The staff member was friendly but did nothing to offer solutions. Maybe it’s because we had two small children with us. Also of note, 6 degrees north aren’t involved in this place now. It’s under new management/ownership.

Me and my friend went for a festive meal out over the Christmas period, while all the food was delicious and tasted great, along with a large selection of drinks. We did feel it wasn't the best value for money with the price point. At our time of visit, which was reserved in advance, there was a lot of work and scaffolding going on which didn't create the greatest ambiance. Had we known about this in advance we probably would have rescheduled or changed our minds.

4/5 for food, 3/5 cos it was so cold!! Came with friends for dinner on Saturday night. It's laid out in bench style with almost picnic tables. The building looks cool inside, however it's never a good sign when ALL the other diners are wearing puffa coats inside! The room was SO unbearably cold inside, I nearly left. There is a log burner style fire, but it was turned down very low to reduce the airflow in it, putting out less heat, and the fire went out while we were there. The guy who seemed to be running the shift actually had a woolly jumper and a woolly hat on throughout the service! If you're called the firepit, maybe use the name as a clue to heat up your restaurant! The food; I had loaded bourbon fries, which were good, but the cheese sauce was a bit split and looked gritty, however, the overall taste was amazing. My friends had a burger which looked great and a tapas plate which was a huge serving for great value and a good way to sample lots of things. The beer/cider was good and the servers were friendly. The food overall was pretty decent, but it went cold very quickly due to the temperature in the room, and we would have stayed for drinks etc, but we couldn't wait to get out of there to somewhere warmer for a heat. I'll maybe return, but only in summer.

Over priced, small portions and poor atmosphere: Had a burger and side-fries, totalling over £18 on Saturday early evening, 20th Jan 2024. The burger was a lack lustre for £14, plus small portion of fries at another ~£4. Its very overprices for what it is. At these prices one would expect a cracking burger, with some salad tucked inside to really make it feel like a premier burger. It was a dollop of pulled pork in a bun, with a bit of cheese, that’s was it. Small portions too, Staff were friendly enough, no issues there. Beer – 3x pints of Wanderlust – was again disappointing. When paying over £5 a pint you’d expect something fresh and special, it just tasted like a.n. other pint of draft cheap larger. The venue looked tired, and was chilly, even for a relatively warm evening outside. There’s a lovely wood burning stove inset into the wall in the pub For a Saturday evening, when paying premium prices, you should get a warm and cosy venue, with that fire burning. The venue looks uncared for and tired, particularly annoying when paying high end prices. The management need to sort this place out because it feels like its dying. Its low end, small portion pub grub, but at premium prices – very disappointing. I'd urge folks to find better places for a burger and chips on an evening out.

Went with some work colleagues on a Xmas get together a week prior to Xmas Day during the week. There were 18 of us split between 2 seating areas which were uncomfortable benches and the general area felt quite cold. Orders are taken at the bar so we ordered separately and that's were the experience went rapidly downhill. Can't say the beer was that good to be honest and we had to endure a wait of an hour to an hour and twenty minutes for food. 3 of our table got served first and then another 4 got theirs approx 40 minutes later with the last 2 guys getting theirs a further 20 minutes later. Our other table had exactly the same experience which was unacceptable to have a group eating at vastly different times. One of our group had the Xmas loaded fries whilst one had a Xmas loaded Yorkshire pudding. More or less the same ingredients yet the Yorkshire Pudding arrived exactly an hour after the fries. On complaining, the response was that because everyone ordered separately, this was the reason for the delay. I would suggest the regular outgoing of deliveroo orders would maybe cast a different light on that. Given the fact that my burger and measly portion of fries came to about £18-19, I can't say it was worth the wait..quite the opposite. It was my first time here and likely to be my last.

Pretty damn good poutine! I was surprised! A really nice and tasty gravy over actual cheese curds and chips. I had a pilsner with it. It was good. Not great, but good. The staff I interacted with were very nice people and helpful in that they answered my questions with a smile. I just had a small poutine, but now I want to go back and get a big one with brisket on it! 😋 I don't eat out often, but I can see myself coming back here soon.

Me and my son came here and were not disappointed..food outstanding. The smoke n soul burger was off the scale, the brisket soo tender. My boy had the bbq brisket melt sandwich and it was stuffed with tender brisket, he loved it. We shared a large plate of poutine also, again very tasty. I washed it all down with the wanderlust wheat beer and the dragon fruit sour beer. This place is great, cracking food, banging beers..I gave a 4 for atmosphere so you continually strive for perfection 😄. Shall of course be back, next time I'm in Aberdeen.

Smoke and soul is amazing! The smoke house nights are fantastic, well worth it. The bar is nice, its looking good now they have spruced it all up. Theres a huge selection of craft beers and ciders. We tried abut half of them. The staff a really good too, they offered us tastes of anything before we ordered our pints

Was really excited to go here after watching the crowd funding progress and hearing generally good reviews. The reality was somewhat different and very disappointing.. Arrived at 7:45 on a Saturday to find out that a place which prides itself on selling burgers has no burgers left! Lol. If you can’t order enough chuck steak or have enough cold storage you need to buck your ideas up. Ended up having a sandwich which was all bread and no filling. Tasty but disappointing. Cheap spongy brioche bun, also upstairs towards the toilets there were trays of cheap wholesale bottles.of mayo, mustard, ketchup etc on display. Which attests to how much effort goes into the product. However and most disturbingly of all, and this comes from a dog owner it’s simply UNACCEPTABLE to have dogs sitting on the benches customers use and be able to observe a customer feeding food to their dog at a table in a restaurant. When I spoke to some guy behind the bar (beard and glasses) and asked if this was ok, aggressively responded they were “dog friendly” sorry but basic hygiene standards should be applied. Won’t be back.

Have eaten here before and have ordered on Deliveroo a few times previously and was not disappointed on those occasions. This time round was much the same - fast, friendly service, well-presented tasty food and a wide selection of drinks to choose from. My only issue is that it was a little bit on the expensive side. Still really enjoyed what I had though. :)

Its just a bar nothing exciting, the beer isn't great. The food was very average, much better burgers available in Aberdeen. The person serving behind the bar was helpful and polite.

If you love "dirty food" then Smoke & Soul is definitely the place to try, I had been wanting to try them for a while, so finally decided to take a friend here. We didn't book in advance but were gladly welcomed in and seated upstairs. The bar/restaurant felt really vibrant and had a great atmosphere although last orders for food is 8:30pm which I feel is a little early. The food menu has something for everyone and the staff are really friendly, they advised us when ordering that they had no normal gravy left and all they could do is vegan gravy. Our burgers and poutine almost had a plant taste which I put down to the vegan style gravy. I did notice as well the burgers were more bun than the actual filling itself but the tater tots tasted brilliant. We weren't blown away with the food after all the hype from friends about Smoke & Soul but will definitely try it again.

Had the flat yorkie, the brisket stovies and the buffalo grilled cheese. Simply delicious. Great selection of craft beers too

Amazingly tasty food, a real find. Would go back as soon as can. Gorgeous building inside, very New Orleans-esque internally. Look forward to trying lunch menu with Yorkie wrap. Wish it was on main! Only star deducted was burger and sauce meal which doesn't include fries. For £15, would expect a small portion included 🙏

I fully enjoyed the burger, super tasty with the brisket on top. I think some added crispy onions and bbq sauce would take it over the top but it was still a top patty without. Decent chips as well. A satisfying experience with a nice Wanderlust to accompany it.

Food was overpriced and menu very limited. For prices of mains should come with fries. Was hoping food would be good as bread meats bread in central belt , but no where near. Also seating really uncomfortable and staff disinterested in customers, preferring to socialise with their mates.

I had a terrible experience ordering from this restaurant. The delivery drivers were asked to wait outside in the cold, which I found extremely inconsiderate. On top of that, the restaurant did not respond in a timely manner and was totally unprofessional in their communication. They didn't even provide an estimated time of arrival for my order. Overall, it was a ridiculous experience and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone

Nice place, very hip. Favourite is the pineapple beer. No ciders on tap though. We ordered food which took 45 mins to come, and a futher to one hour and 15 for our last member's food to arrive. Which was shocking. The food was small and over priced but tasty I think

Place was far too cold to be enjoyable. Had to eat with my scarf and jacket on.

Got the worst food delivered from them, £13:50 for a box of lukewarm chips with a small dollop of pulled pork. No sauce at all. What makes this a million times worse is that they also haven't responded to messages, emails, or Facebook posts expressing my dissatisfaction and disappointment.

Lovely bar! Menu has great options (I struggled to choose). Food was exceptional! Left stuffed. 100% will be back and recommend to all of my friends Value for money as the portions sizes were great and the quality of the food was second to none

Excellent Food and friendly staff.

A brief visit for an early solo dinner. I had the poutine with added brisket, and their own branded lager. The poutine was surprisingly authentic for not being in Canada, but could have used a little more gravy. The lager was good. Service efficient. I enjoyed what I had.

Such a great place to go for a relaxing atmosphere with a great selection of craft beers, tried the food for the first time in here and was well impressed at the quality and quantity, i had the burger with black pudding and pulled pork, fantastic. The service is always friendly and efficient, even the rest of the crowd that were in there were sublime lol ok maybe a bit too far but close, go see for yourself you wont be disappointed

Nice selection of beers, I had a nice wheat beer. Visited on a Sunday afternoon so was pretty quiet given a table and got served straight away. Pleasant atmosphere and would go again. The only thing negative I would say is that i wish the seating was a bit more comfortable to relax as the benches are a bit on the basic side.

We got the BBQ brisket cheese dirty fries to go and were impressed. Very tasty and good amount of Brisket 😋 popped in to collect and noticed it was busy so clearly popular. Wait was quick and noticed a dog laying at its owners feet so must be pet friendly which is a bonus. Would recommend and return if in Aberdeen.

Great real ales and fantastic food even swapped out real cheese for vegan cheese. Highly recommended

Really really good. Great service. We had the dirty fries and burger. Both were so good.sauces just added to the dishes. Kids both had Mac cheese and fries from the kids menu. Would highly recommend.

We really appreciated the wide selection of interesting craft beers. However, the food curbed our enthusiasm, as well as the general service (or lack thereof). First time around ordering we were told via text we had to pick other items. Then we waited an hour for the food to arrive with no notification or acknowledgement. Beers = good, Food itself = Not bad, lacking wow factor, needed salt.

Sehr gutes Pub im Herzen von Aberdeen mit kleiner aber feiner Menü Auswahl. Ebenso ist die Bierkarte Sehr umfangreich und lädt zum probieren ein. Das Ambiente ist leicht Industriell, Steampunk mäßig angehaucht. Was uns sehr gefallen hat. Die Mitarbeiter waren super nett.

Noisy, young persons bar. Looks like fun, food seems good, but not tried. Definitely for the in-crowd in Aberdeen. For me, not so good - designer beers and drinks, mobile phone menus and ordering just feels a bit distant and not personal. Nevermind, will definitely suit a younger age group.
