Smile Thai Cafe & Takeaway in Swindon

Been here a few times and absolutely love the place, the food, the service, the staff are just amazing and I can not rate this place highly enough, the chef knows his stuff and you will seriously not find better Thai food anywhere in this country as good as this.

For Thai food Smile is the place to go in Swindon, whether you eat in or takeaway the food is delicious, great staff always friendly and very well priced. Check Smile out, you won't be disappointed.

Fantastic ‘hidden gem’ of a restaurant. Went for the first time last night for a friends birthday, it most definitely will be the first of many visits!!! Fabulous food, atmosphere and staff! A must for ‘foodies’ in and around Swindon.

We have been here before and rated 5. Unfortunately although the service and starters were great this time I have rated it down due to a hygiene issue. As we were finishing our starter one of the chefs came out from the kitchen into the toilet wearing the blue disposable gloves. He used the toilet and came out still wearing the blue gloves. Gross. The gloves should of been removed before using the toilet. This completely put us off our food so we cancelled our main courses. We told the waiting staff and they did apologise but this has put us off going again

Another visit to this little gem for a family birthday and it keeps on getting better and better each time we visit. Everything is cooked fresh and the service is amazing, I'd definitely recommend a visit to the best Thai restaurant in the area by far.

Absolutely the best decision I've made this week. Food was absolutely gorgeous. Ordered the beef pad kaprow, rice, noodles and spring rolls and asked for it thai style hot, the Chef understood the assignment lol. Really well made food. Lovely and fresh and served with a smile, As you would expect with the Name. I even ordered a takeaway for my trip home first thing. I will definitely go again when working in the area.

Such a lovely place - small and friendly with the most delicious food, beautifully presented. We had the somtam salad, pad Thai with duck, mixed starters and a couple of other dishes I can’t remember! We went for Thai heat and the chili was spot on. Can’t fault this place.

We visited here again last night for dinner and can not fault the place in any way at all The food and service was just fantastic and tasted so fresh and amazing. In my opinion, this is by far the best Thai restaurant you will find anywhere.

A fabulous family run restaurant. The food is amazing and very consistent. We have started coming regularly for the set lunch menu and it has always been amazing quality. The price is great value too. We took my mum and dad and they are now hooked too. Would highly recommend and we are looking forward to coming one evening to try the a la carte menu. 10 of us went to Smile last night and everything was just amazing, the food and service was just top notch and absolutely faultless. I've been before and it's always been good, but last night was another level of excellence. And to top it all off, there is a beer tower for those that like a cold beer.

We pre booked this place based on reviews we had seen prior to visiting Swindon. We opted for Satay and prawn tempura starters, satay not really that good but the tempura was excellent. For mains we had a large jasmine rice with a green curry and a massaman. Both curries were fabulous but the massaman really was exceptional. It's a surprise finding this place on a residential street just out of town but we're so glad we did. Definitely recommend eating here if you're in the area

Lovely little space and equally good staff. Generally the food is pretty good, however tonight was not the case. I ordered some seaweed which I love, and could happily eat buckets full. Incredibly disappointed to discover that the advertised seaweed on the menu was in fact deep fried cabbage, which smelt like cabbage and was dripping in oil. Pretty disgusting! Please don’t put ‘seaweed' on the menu when it's not seaweed. Write, ‘fried cabbage’. Trading standards and all that! For my main I ordered Noodle Kee Mao, good value for £9.50 and a good sized portion at that. The noodle dish was Stir-fried flat rice noodles with egg, chilli, bamboo shoot & basil. Big mistake for me. I should have realised that chilli being the second ingredient listed, meant that this was going to be a very hot dish, and way too hot for me. This wasn’t the fault of the restaurant by the way. I should have paid more attention when ordering. As it turned out my mouth was so painful that I couldn’t eat any more, so beware when selecting a dish with chilli. The amount of chilli can be reduced or completely omitted if you ask for it. Disappointing meal but usually the food here is very good.

Lovely hot food, really nice. Staff are friendly as well and welcome you. Quite difficult to fault in all honesty. Only 4 stars as service was on the slow side last time I went but usually its better.

Super little place very friendly really amazing authentic food prices quite reasonable and beautifully presented, . Even sold a selection of their sauces frozen to take away to do your own curries. Asked how they made their milky green tea and the chef came out to show us and explain the recipe. 100% will be back soon!

This is a very small restaurant, it is cosy, inviting and the staff are extremely friendly and the food arrives punctually and is beautifully prepared and extremely tasty. We were surprised to be able to book a table at relatively short notice and loved every minute of it

Consistently delicious food, packed with flavour and heat and well priced for portion size. Great hosts and £1 for BYOB is a another good feature. Would recommend both the special fried rice and phanaeng curry if you're a hungry boy (or girl) like me.

Been to this place a couple of times and the food is the best Thai food I have ever tasted. The food is all freshly cooked and so so tasty. The service is great and remember you have to take your own alcoholic drinks.

We had our first takeaway from Smiles Thai restaurant. We had heard good reviews on trip advisor and wow what a lovely first experience and it wont be the last. We had a penang curry jungle curry and a stir fry between us . The meal was absolutely gorgeous. The jungle curry was lovely and spicy and the penang curry my wife had was so tasty. I have been here over 20 times in the last 12 months, sometimes booked ahead, mostly called in at lunchtimes on the off chance there would be room for us, I can say it’s as authentic as any food I had when I visited Thailand, the chef is super fast, and the food super fresh and very tasty, the service has been friendly and helpful every single time. I must also add they are completely happy for you to take any drink you like with you (we normally take a bottle of Prosecco and a few bottles of beer) for a £1.50 per person corkage charge. Lastly the prices are reasonable.

A friend introduced me to this tiny Thai family Restaurant and take-away where you can take your own wine for corkage and which delivers to your home in the evening. The furniture and decor are basic and charming whilst the food and service are superb.It reminded me of my student days in terms of relaxation and I shall definitely return!

We were a bit disappointing as we only visited about a month ago and the meal was fantastic. This time the satay chicken was really dry, the sticky rice was gloopy, the pad thai was sticky/tasteless and the green curry was watery. Perhaps we just caught it on a bad night (Friday) or with different chef(s).

Another great meal, I've been slowly working my way through the menu and never disappointed, even the Spring rolls which I don't normally like are great here.

Myself and the family decided to visit here again, and this was because the food was amazing the last time we were here.

Popped into Smile tonight for a Green Thai Chicken curry and very disappointed at amount and the poor quality of chicken in the curry. I doubt whether there was more than an ounce of chicken and what vegetables there were were stewed. Sauce tasted good but nothing special but i had hoped for something more substantial. I now feel obliged to take my custom elsewhere.

'Smile' was recommended to us by some friends and it didn't disappoint. All four of us had different meals and we all thoroughly enjoyed every minute. We have been to the Far East many times and I can verify this restaurant in the real deal. It's quite small and nothing fancy, it's all about the the food!! I'd also have to add that the service was friendly and excellent.

SMILE is mainly a takeaway but they do have seating for probably around 20 or so customers? We ate in, and the atmosphere is lovey in here, walking distance from town. The small team of staff are pleasant and friendly and the food....well - it is just amazing! We were recommended Smile, and have returned again since.

Ordered a takeaway to eat with father-in-law as he is stuck in a care home, he likes to try quality food from all over the world and lived in Asia for a number of years. He was very impressed by the different flavours in one mouthful from the dishes. Very authentic. Our eyes did water at the spiciness of the jungle curry, it is HotHot.

5 of us visited on late notice to the small but welcoming restaurant. Was met by a smiling lady who was more than happy to accommodate us. The menu is really good value for money and the food that came was really tasty but clean, unlike a lot of takeaways in Swindon. Will be back. Was stuffed and only cost a tenner with a drink !

This is the best Thai food restaurant in Swindon as I have tasted food from all Thai restaurant. The flavours of the food is jus wow. Takes you back to Thailand if you ever been there. Most Thai restaurant have the same basic taste but the dishes served here are just too tasty and the aroma is yummy. I have recommended many of my friends to try the food and none of them have said they haven’t enjoyed the food, in fact they are now regular customers. Please see the pictures of food. Super little Thai Cafe with reasonably priced food, good, but not excessive portions, and packed full of flavour! Small but perfectly formed. We went for an after work meal as a group of eight and with a couple of hours notice, they fitted us in and were swift to serve us. Steady stream of families, couples, lone diners and groups passing through. Would definitely go again.

This small restaurant just off the town centre is a hidden gem. The food is fantastic and you can bring your own alcoholic drink with a corkage of £1.50 per person. They do a great lunchtime deal for £7.50 which includes a small starter, main course and soft drink and the main course is quite filling.

Tucked away on Eastcott Hill, this restaurant provided an excellent evening for our party (of 4). Inside there are not many tables, so booking in advance is highly recommended. Although seating is simple, it is comfortable and adds to the uniqueness of the place. The menu has plenty of choice for all diners (including lots of vegetarian and gluten free options) and is reasonably priced too. The Prawn Penang Curry I had was exquisite; it was flavoursome and had a lovely blend of spices.

We’re regular customers at Smile Cafe and the food and service has never faltered. Nothing is bland, and everything is well seasoned; it is truly authentic Thai cooking.

A Thai restaurant in Swindon? You can get bland UK Thai food anywhere or you can get the authentic stuff. This is more authentic than any other THai restaurant in the town; it's also friendly, efficient, allows you to bring your own booze, and not expensive. No wonder it's full - only 18 places and everyone smiling!

Went here on Friday 17th May at 6pm and was surprised that it was as busy as it was so early.

Ordered 2 take aways for collection from this restaurant and the food has been superb. Only a small place about 30 covers max but I didn’t eat in the restaurant. I’ve been to Smile a few times now and every time the food has been outstanding- plus the service is both excellent and very friendly. I’d suggest booking a table for large groups as the restaurant is small but you won’t regret it - really authentic Thai food cooked to perfection!

Bank holiday Monday had a show on at the Wyvern after and wanted to give the place a try. The food was very good indeed. Always been keen on thai food and this is now my favorite Thai in Swindon. I can see my partner and I using this place as a pre show dinner either at Wyvern or Cinema. Only complaint was service was kaotic at the start due to lack of staff, but settled down once the place emptied out a bit.

I booked for Saturday and when we arrived was told I booked for Friday. My wife listened to my booking call and confirmed Saturday. I also repeated the 830 Saturday booking on the phone. So not impressed at this mess up. Went to Los Gatos which was great!

Decided to have a family meal here based on a friends recommendation. Turned out to be one of my Uncle’s favourite places. The place is small yet does not feel cramped at all.

Slightly out of the town centre, this Thai cafe has a warm and comfortable ambience, and it serves really good food. The menu offers a good choice without feeling like a telephone directory. We have been there a few times, and the food has always been very good. The wine list is quite small, but it's good enough for most people and I have always liked whatever I have chosen. For a very modest corkage charge, you can bring your own wine.

Visited this place a few times now over the last year. Each time the food has been brilliant. A great number of dishes to choose from and I've never been disappointed with anything I have eaten, the same can be said of everyone I have taken here too. My wife and I were visiting family in Swindon and it was recommended we try Smile Thai - We were not disappointed at all. I had the hottest soup I’ve ever eaten and loved it! Lots of dishes sampled and enjoyed. Recommend booking as there are limited seats in this cozy place...

I am a food whore with a passion for Thailand and Thai food.....no need for a lengthy review, the food absolutely nails authenticity....The chef owner is Thai and from Bangkok ....he knows his Tom Yum from his Kway Teow....Highly recommend, utterly relaxed atmosphere, bring your own wine, lovely staff always 5* service and food - eaten here many times (yesterday was last time :)

I was here with my friend 1 week before. The place is small but tidy. Ordered Soup which had too much of soya sauce which made the soup having a weird smell. The starter was good and crispy. For main course, we had ordered red curry. The main course was good but had extra bit of pineapple due to which a lot of different taste could be felt in one dish... spicy, sweet and tangy. Overall experience was mixed. I have tasted Thai food across many places in world I can say it was not the best of the taste but not worst also.

13 of us had a meal at this Thai last night. We ordered nearly everything on the menu and the flavours and textures were fabulous. The ribs melted in the mouth, the tempura veg and prawns deliciously light and we loved the crispy squid and beef. The spicy Thai soup was very authentic , hot , sweet and sour as it should be. Our mains were equally impressive and the crispy sea bass was a triumph. It’s also a bring your own so we did ! They do sell some wine by the bottle.
