Sky-8 in Central Bedfordshire

Edit* we've been contacted to offer us a free meal in the future rather than to refund us for the bad food. We've not posted this review for free food but to let others know about the experience so have rejected the offer. This used to be the best place in town, but god this was bad. I'm not sure if it's changed ownership but tonight we ordered 8 dishes and 5 of them were really poor. Sauce on the Brocolli tasted like water, totally bland. Chicken was overcooked, chewy and the satay was just grease. The prawns were OK on their own but the black bean sauce was insipid, watery and unseasoned. I've no idea how you mess up spring rolls but they were half cooked, floppy mush. Have a look at the photo attached. At least the chips were OK! £43 for a meal that nobody could bother to finish is offensive. The photos show how much food was left over. Do yourself a favour and go to the Golden Star. We only ordered here because they deliver and we couldn't collect from our usual place.

We move to Leighton Buzzard just less then year ago. We try almost all local chinese restaurants and SKY 8 straight stay our favourite!!!! All food spot on with flavor, pipping hot and on time. Contact with restaurant great. I recommend it wholeheartedly!!!

My husband and I have been trying to eat healthy and lose weight. Once a month we have a treat meal. This months one was Chinese. Our usual Chinese is closed for a refurb so we tried Sky8. I can honestly say it’s the worst I’ve ever eaten. It was old dry and reheated. A real waste of calories and of £45. Very disappointing

Dont normally leave a review, however we had friends round and the food was amazing. The regular lady delivered who normally delivers in the week too (petit lady with a big white car) she is very polite and always smiling. Thank you. Highly recommend 👌

*Edit - thank you to the restaurant for your reply - I’ve bumped the service up to 4 stars as the restaurant immediately tried to get in touch to offer a refund or credit, which I won’t accept but I appreciate the gesture - I can’t stand customers who complain just to get a free meal. They clearly care about the standard of service they are offering and I’ll give it another try on a less busy day and will amend the food rating accordingly when I do so - for anyone else ordering, it may be worth trying for collection on busy days thus avoiding a busy delivery route. Thanks! Original review: Pretty disappointing. First time ordering, rang up 20 minutes after I originally ordered to see if I could add a curry sauce but they told me my food was already out for delivery - absolutely fair enough. Food arrived 40 minutes later so it was out for delivery for over 40 minutes - needless to say the food was almost cold. The delivery driver didn’t offer change so the order was rounded up - I could have probably asked for the extra 2 quid but it was easier just to take the ten change - again I wouldn’t have minded if the food had been up to scratch. It tasted fresh enough but the pancake roll was burnt inside where it hadn’t been sealed properly and the bean sprouts had caught. The chow mein was just about warm if a little lacking in flavour but the pancake roll and crispy beef were stone cold. Busy Saturday I can imagine and I appreciate they need to double up on deliveries but 40 minutes in transit is a bit of a killer for any hot dish.

Got a pick up order, which unfortunately was missing a chow mein once we got home(mistakes happen). However one phone call and 15 minutes later it was delivered to my door and the food was one of the best in Leighton I've had In a while. Can't fault em

Just had a take away meal - not great. Broccoli was caked in soggy batter - could not tell the diffence between that and the “crispy” squid. The crispy chilli beef again was soft rather than crisp and covered with artificial colouring. Below average. Tasted like it was all cooked in 4 day old oil. If you want a Chinese takeaway I would go to Shan Shui and which is better - still, you have to try these things to know for sure.! Won’t be going back for a second time.!

No, no, no, cheap pork, small portions, attitude problem. These guys are terrible when it’s busy. Chicken skewers with hardly any peanut sauce, like not even enough to half coat 1 skewer. The pork ribs tasted as bad as they smelled, they went in the bin. The chips were expensive and the equivalent of a small portion. The whole meal was a total waste of £60. I will never ever go here again. Anyone considering it, there are plenty of other Chinese takeaway in the local area, I will not be used g sky 8 again. They are the worst in the area now. Read the review replied. They threaten customers. DO NOT USE THIS PLACE….

No sorry. Just no. While I have had good food here . This time it was disgusting. The pork ribs are terrible, bbq sauce like water. The pork meat is cheap here and always tastes off. I will never go back. Everything was bad this weekend… the whole meal. Waste of money. They cannot cope on busy nights and the quality slips down the pan. I’m going back to jasmine house. The menu is not as big but the food is a much higher standard. Just read the reviews, they blacklist people for telling the truth… yukky.

After 16 attempts at trying to call have decided to get Domino's instead. Try stepping into the 21st century online ordering or heaven forbid a second phone line.

Normally order from them on a regular basis but after today never again! Tried to place an order but the woman kept saying what what every time I spoke she then said “do you want your bloody order or not!” We hung up due to how rude she was we then rang back and she said we will not deliver to you only collection for you!

Everything is jam-like in sweetness. Please cut back on the sugar!

Been using sky 8 for past few years and usually very good. had some issues with food temperature on arrival but other than that no issues. Not had missing items in over 100+ meals. very pleasant on phone.

We ordered over the phone from a menu which was up to date online. After ordering I confirmed the price with the lady on the phone of £30.20p. The problem was when the food arrived they asked for £40.20p. I called them back up thinking a fault had occurred their end but no. Suspiciously it was exactly £10 more expensive. I did not have the extra on me and bizarrely the lady then asked me to remove one dish ?? Why would we leave one person with out food. Never again will we order from this establishment. It seems very dodgy these days.

After using this takeaway for over 15 years weekly, our delivery was missing items. Instead of just delivering the whole order correct we were called liars. Added to that we have been blacklisted apparently! Lovely when we’ve spent about over £10k at this restaurant over time. Bitterly disappointed, won’t be returning and plenty of other good restaurants in the town who will treat their customers with the respect needed. Sky 8 definitely do not stick to the customer is always right rule!

After using Sky 8 most weeks for the last 5 years, today we have had our worst service ever. After putting an order through and having it read back to us some of the food didn't turn up, so was left with duck and chicken rice for dinner. When phoning again to say it hadn't arrived we got called liars with no offer of the pancakes. Diabolical service from somewhere that we had used for such a long time. Won't use them again

The food we had was not bad, though I'm quite happy to collect from further afield. And I've knocked one star as they only accept cash.

First time using Sky8. Went for collection. Really good service from lady taking orders. She was really busy on the phone but was polite and cheerful. Food was lovely, fresh and hot. Will be back

We've been using Sky 8 for a number of years now. I used to recommend them but over the last year of two they've standards have deteriorated. Last night we just had a starter meal from them. It was the worst ever. Over cooked and tasteless. From the duck to the ribs. So bad we couldn't finish it. A waste of £30. We will never use them again. Pity.

Friendly quick service and good portions.

1st time we ordered a meal, the delivery was quick , the food was extremely tasty and very large amounts, i would definitely recommend and will be ordering again

Moved here recently and struggled to find a vegetarian take away we have used this placed quiet alot, one night we ordered a few vegetarian things however one item was mock chicken I ate it and realised it was real chicken since I was born I've never eaten meat when we reported it the receptionist shouted sorry No refund or no empathy

Very good takeaway Chinese food. The price is very cheap for the quality of food you get. This place has been a long time favorite of me and many of my friends. They are always prompt with delivery and I would personally recommend the salt and pepper chicken.

I had a really horrible experience with this restaurant, I am pure vegan and I ordered vegetarian chicken and they actually give me real chicken ,I called them straight away and they blame on me ,when I go there they did mistake on order so bcoz of their mistake I eat chicken and they are not say sorry or give me any compensation back ,they just said our cook made a mistake that's it . So I want to warn vegan and vegetarian people that be careful what do you order ,may be they feed you real meat in name of vegetarian 😡😡

Tried a few Chinese takeaways in Leighton buzzard but found this to be the best one! Highly recommend you try this place if your looking for a good Chinese! The satay chicken skewers are the best I've ever tried 😍

Love this takeaway! We use it regularly after trying a couple in LB after moving to the area at the beginning of the year. They do the tastiest salt and pepper chips and we’ve never had a bad meal! We had one occasion where a dish didn’t arrive and I called to make them aware, within ten minutes it was with us. Can’t complain at all about Sky 8 - 100% recommend.

Food was not nice. I was sick in the night. Staff member was rude. Only used this place as jasmine House doesn't deliver. Mistake, I will collect from jasmine house (much tastier food) in future and won't be using Sky 8 again

Sky 8 delivered my food tonight, I mentioned that it was my birthday to lovely delivery lady. 15 minutes later she returned with a card signed by all the staff. After a very lonely day this cheered me up so much! The food was excellent as always but this little extra made my day. Thank all for being so thoughtful xx

The BEST Chinese we have ever had!! You will not be disappointed with this take away, really cannot recommend it enough.

Everything was O.K apart from the Beef Curry. The sauce was extremely floury in taste and texture and the beef was inedible it was so chewy. Also I wasn't aware they only take cash so had to walk into town to get cash so food was luke warm when we got it home. Would'nt go back.

We have been using Sky-8 for a while and they consistently provide good food. We have never had cause for complaint. The lady who answers the phone is very good at taking your order and reading it back to confirm your order. We have experienced the delivery service (very good during the week but longer delivery time on Saturday evening as it it so popular), and also just popping in. When you sit and wait for your order (especially on a Saturday evening), you can see the relentless telephone calls which are all dealt with efficiently and politely by that lady - she is good! We wouldn’t go anywhere else and would recommend this takeaway without hesitation.

Sky 8 is definitely the best chinese takeaway in Leighton Buzzard by far! The food is always delicious

Love the food from here! It is a bit of nightmare to get through and have to wait for delivery but that's because it's so popular & great food defo worth the wait. The duck in plum sauce is my fav :)
