Had lunch today 16th August with fried. She had a very nice vegetarian fry I ordered a salad sandwich which only consisted of a bit of tomato and very soggy lettuce Very disappointed..we then decided to order two pastries. a muffin and an . apple square. The muffin was £1 and Apple square was 90p.. but when paying separately for the pastries we were charged £3 60 because we were eating at the table. TAKE ON? Would put me off eating here again

Firstly, I haven't tried the cafe so the review is of the home bakery fare which i find to be varied and of a high quality. The counter staff are friendly and accommodating and you also have an option to order on-line which helps avoid the crowds.Overall, a good traditional home bakery.

My companion and I opted for hot cross buns from the bakery @ .55 each to have with a cup of tea. The hot cross buns were delicious, the nicest I have eaten for a long time. What annoyed us was the £1.05 added to the cost of the bun making them £1.60 each. We could understand a mark up but this was excessive. The explanation given was VAT !!!!!!!! A fat tax person without even having to go near this bakery.

Skinners make an excellent Gluten free bread and some wheat free peanut cookies and brownies! Every week I purchase wheaten bread and cakes for my non gluten free family and travel to the north coast with their bread, tarts (especially rhubarb tart) fruit squares etc. I have also bought their soft baps for bacon butties which have been very well received. This is an excellent and very reliable bakery.

Skinners has been a fixture of this sleepy little town for many years. It is always busy, and this is largely due to the quality of its food. There is a fantastic bakery onsite with a large selection of highly delicious buns and savouries for those who wish to eat and run. But the true gem is the Cafe, where you can choose from a varied range of really delicious food freshly cooked onsite. The girl who works behind the counter is an absolute gem and always has an amusing quip for all her customers. Nothing is ever too much bother for her. Regulars are treated like family members in this treasure of North Down

11.30am fry. One small fry (6 pieces) one Ulster fry (9 pieces) pot of tea and an americano. £12.10. Everything was so fresh but then it's a bakery and very well supported evidenced by an 80% occupancy rate during the 3/4 hr. we were there. Would recommend to anyone. A special word for pensioners, use your free Translink rail pass and treat yourself. Skinners is 5 mins. walk from the station.

I visit here regularly to pick up treats for the weekend and have never been disappointed - everything is delicious (I highly recommend anything with fresh cream!) Staff are incredibly pleasant & helpful.I have only eaten in the cafe once and wasnt impressed. I ordered a sandwich which was average at best - it had practically no filling. My friend ordered a burger and chips & wasn't keen either.I would highly recommend the bakery side however!

Having lived away from Northern Ireland for over 30 years I do miss a good old Ulster Fry. However on previous visits I have been sorely dissappointed. Not this time! Skinners Cafe delivered a lovely tasty non greasy Ulster Fry. All the cakes and bread are made on the premises and very delicious, artisan before the word became trendy. If you want a good old fashioned Northern Irish food experience visit Jade and her team in this spotlessly clean and very welcoming Cafe - and don't forget to grab a cream bun from the bakery on the way out.

I decided to give Skinners another go after my last review and I'm pleased to report that the problems I had with it before appear to have been resolved. The raw meats were no longer stored right beside the bakery goods. My partner bought some of the bacon to cook at home and said it was the best he'd ever tasted! Again the fry's were all freshly cooked and we had ordered individual items rather than from the set menu. Very good service and still the best fry around!

We went here solely for the fry up which is freshly cooked and great value for money. You can add to your fry too. The staff are always very friendly. We went around 11 am and it wasn't too busy. Having enjoyed the fry so much we decided to visit their in house bakery. Sealed but never the less raw bacon was sitting on a middle shelf between drink bottles and cakes! I witnessed a member of staff drop a muffin on the floor, pick it up and return it to a tray to be sold. Such a shame after a tasty fry. If it wasn't for that I'd have rated it higher.

This place has to be visited, but you can expect it to be very very busy if you go at lunch time when all the locals come for their lunch. You will always get a warm welcome and nice meals. The apple tart is something to try, always well filled and loaded with cream. There is a bakery at the front and I grantee that it will temp you.The only fault I have is the size of the room but that is only a fault because it is so popular with everybody.

Wife and I went in for a snack lunch and left disappointed and dissatisfied. Sandwiches were thrown together and tasteless.Sausage rolls were barely cooked. Sausagemeat ok but the paste was soggy and not not cooked sufficiently. Staff were pleasant and busy. So long as reviews are inaccurate the cafe will not improve.Could be very good with a bit of effort. Would not survive as a cafe if there was decent competition. A poor sausage roll from a home bakery is ridiculous and reflects badly on standards !

Myself and my boyfriend would call into skinners now and again for a sneaky wee fry or a bun on the way home. The bakery at the front is outstanding value. It sells lots of tasty buns and cakes and they are so so cheap. Best value in Holywood. The staff are always super friendly and everything on sale is fresh. Everything is clean and well displayed. The cafe is always busy with a great wee caf buzz. The hot food is so cheap and sandwiches are made fresh. I've had a few things off the menu and while not high end eating it's what you want in the way of cheap and cheerful. Everything is clean and food isn't greasy which is a winner in my books. The only issues I have are that it's a bit small, which can't be helped, so it is sometimes very difficult to get a table. It would also be great if they opened at the weekend! Nice wee place overall.

Had breakfast on skinners and this place never disappoints. Service is always friendly and swift. The food is fresh and tasty! I like the cooked breakfast so as they are dry and not swimming in grease. Always good selection of home baked goods and I always end up buying something to take away! Only criticism is the place is limited for table space so go early is my tip. I often go before 9am.

Well, I've been a customer of Skinners for a couple of years now. If you ever find yourself in Holywood I must insist you pay a visit. Absolutely everything you eat here is terrible for you, that delicious and gorgeous home made taste of the most generously filled cream pastries you will find in Holywood (and gorgeous cream at that) and the flaky pastry of their custard tarts. Their caramel squares and their fifteens cannot be beaten.Hot food? They do baked potatoes to rival THE Mr Pikwik's of Connswater, generously topped every time. Delicious home made sausage-roll style Scotch Eggs that are crisp and delicious.I could write a review for every product but I promise, give the place a try for genuine home made cuisine.Once you eat from Skinner's you'll understand why this bakery has been here for generations. Quality will always stand the test of time and they really do exceed in quality. They also do amazing Belfast Baps!

I have bought from Skinners Bakery & Sandwich Bar many times & love the wide range of buns, sandwiches & hot food they serve. Today was the first time I tried their café.The café area is very small & the heat seemed to build up quite quickly. I wasn't sure whether to find a table & sit or go straight to the counter & order. Due to the limited seating area I was afraid to place my order at the counter & then turn to find no seats available. I took a chance & stood for around 5 minutes at the counter waiting for service. It was clear that the staff were very busy sorting out bills for customers wanting to pay up & leave. There were no menus on the tables so I relied on the menu above the counter to help with my choice. I placed my order; paid upfront & thankfully found an empty table.I ordered scrambled eggs & toast (£3.10 & diet coke £1.20) & although the portion was small/medium it was absolutely delicious - one of the best scrambled eggs I have tasted. The service was really quick. I'm pretty sure I got my food within 7 minutes of ordering! I couldn't ask for more especially when I only have a half-hour for lunch. Staff were very attentive & I cannot fault the service. The great thing about the food portion was that there was enough room to pick up a bun from the bakery on the way out :)

You simply cannot go wrong eating or buying here. Their chicken pies have to be eaten to be believed. The pastries/cakes/buns will not be bettered anywhere. First visit today and I will most definitely be back - often! The most tempting array of food I have seen in a long time from biscuits, pastries, sandwiches, soups, variety of dinners but most importantly the most delicious Ulster Fry I've had - price £4.20. Soda bread, potato bread, pancake, sausage, 2 rashers of back bacon and an egg and no grease in sight. Tea is 95p for a large mug and comes in a teapot [milk & sugar on the table]. My friend had casseroled beef with potatoes and two veg and it looked delicious too. It will take me a while to get through the extensive menu but I'm determined to try!!The staff were all kept very busy as it's obviously a very popular cafe and they were all extremely pleasant and helpful. Well done Skinners and I can't wait for my next visit.

My husband and I wanted something to eat on the way back from visiting Belfast and we went to Holywood which has some nice shops. We popped into this bakery and found there was a cafe and sandwich bar at the back. Although it was past lunchtime we were welcomed into a clean warm cafe with an extensive list of food to eat. We chose the pies which we were told were made on the premises, these were the best pies we have tasted and served with freshly cooked chips. The food was reasonably priced and we would recommend it for its food selection, price and hospitality.

Food very very average for an Indian . Better to go any Indian restaurant in India with a trip advisor rating of 2 !! Correlating !! It will be the best .i guess it’s best suited to the palette for the localities and not for Indian tourists . So let’s get that right. You will see a differentiation from the time you give the order to getting the table to getting billing on time - unfortunately Tourists from India will be treated differently bkz it’s business and one has to look at it who is the cash cow ? Tourist or the localities !! So I guess it’s the right thing to do !! Cheers !!! There are a few other restaurants in the area which are really really good !! Pls look up for my reviews !!

Went here as the cafe has a lovely setting but it is let down badly as it is extremely overpriced. One of us had soup and half a sandwich - small bowl of soup which tasted just OK and a sandwich which has to be the smallest I have ever seen with very little filling! Total rip off for the price. There is also no choice for gluten free customers. Such a pity as the cafe is pleasant to sit in.
