It's been a while since I was last here but I'm pleased to say the Jamaica Inn has lost nothing in either food quality, or atmosphere. An excellent meal. Two mains, two desserts, a tea, a cappuccino, and three soft drinks for a little over £60. Not mysh to see at night scenery wise, but during the day an uninterrupted view over the Irish Sea is fabulous. A must visit. Oh, and check out their weekend entertainment as well

Beautiful inn facing the sea with an incredible view and a cozy Pub-type restaurant. Ideal for families since for each adult maximum two, they give away the Kids menu that is super well served and with fresh products. Burgers and fried fish, calamari highly recommended. For 4 adults and 1 child with beer, we spent only 63 euros.

If you haven't been here make a conscious decision to go. The food is outstanding. The service is impeccable. We were in for lunch on Monday and it was already busy. Wide variety of foods available. Extensive fish menu. I had the monkfish which was the best monkfish I've ever had. My wife had the fish pie and raved about how good it was all day which is not like her. Great range of alcohol free and fully loaded drinks too. Recommend to anyone. We will be back soon.

Such an atmospheric building. Museums are very interesting butter best part is the 10 min video loop aboutthe Inn. Unfortunately because it was raining and very misty it was very busy so we were unable to eat there. In nice weather there are plenty of outside tables as well as in. I would love to see it and the surrounding moor in nice weather.

The Jamaica Inn is a local favourite, especially for families. There's an extensive menu to cover almost every taste and dietary requirement. One concern with a large menu is that this can lead to a stretched kitchen delivering average food. This is NOT the case at The Jamaica Inn, having tried several things on the menu over the years including the burgers, salads, ribs and other dishes, they are always tasty. It's not going to win any Michelin stars, but for good wholesome food with a great selection of drinks, there's a lot to love about The Jamaica Inn, comfort food at its best.

Not what you might expect to find in a small town in Northern Ireland, a Jamaican pub, but this was a very lovely find. Nicely decorated, large wooden tables with sea views of the water, a full bar area, but also a large restaurant that caters to clientele of all ages including families with kids. The music was nice and mellow with some Carribean themes but not too loud or overpowering. The menu had many great choices and you can see the large portions at the neighbouring tables. Everything looks good. I had the creamy seafood chowder which was a meal in itself, very rich and flavourful with no scrimping on the seafood from the local catch of the day at the nearby harbour. I wasn't able to eat the house salad since they added a lot of things I don't particularly like (olives, Italian pine nuts, parmesan, etc.). After a nice meal, it was a pleasure to take a stroll along the boardwalk in the sunshine and breath in the sea air. On a clear day you can see straight across to Scotland in the distance. A great choice for lunch.

It was recommended to me by one of the locals of Donaghadee, I travelled to Bangor & walked along seafront until I came to Jamaica Inn. I hope this was a one off. Had dinner at the Jamaica and it was disappointing. The food looked like it had been either microwaved or left under a very hot light. The gravy was congealed and the salad was warm, the photos speak for themselves. We were sitting outside and there were lots of customers smoking. I asked if this was allowed in a covered area and the reply I got was what can you do! This is our local go to restaurant so as I said I hope this was a one off.,

Myself and daughter went for a day out in Bangor (we also had our well-behaved dog Holly with us) on Sunday 21st July 2024. We came across this lovely restaurant/pub, Jamaica Inn. We only stopped by for a drink, initially. I got a pint size glass of coca cola and my daughter had a latte. We also opted for a side dish of chips (garlic). Went for a bit of dinner on Sunday 23rd June, as we do often enough as the food is excellent. On this occasion I found the food to be, well, not up to the usual Standard. If you have tried the chilli chicken goujons then you'll know they are normally something you could take a craving for - because they are delicious! I'm not sure what happened but they just weren't up to the normal levels of yumminess. I'm all for honesty, so when paying the bill, I was asked how everything was (a nice courtesy often left out in this day and age) I told the staff that I wasn't overly enamoured with the meal, and stressed that it wasn't a big deal and I'd certainly be back. They discounted my bill to make up for not being satisfied! I was a little embarrassed, but after thinking about it for a few days, I realised that's why we go there. I mean you need to be pretty confident in your ability to deliver a repeatable experience to take responsibility when it (rarely) goes wrong. I've been eating there for 30 years and I'm not about to stop. The staff are great, the food is excellent, the view is relaxing and the beers are cold. There literally is nothing not to like. The point of this review is not to run down the Jamaica Inn for an off day, but to congratulate them on how they handled it. 90% of establishments could take a leaf out of their book. Look forward to my next visit, those goujons are tasty 😋

Ordered a type of grill which consisted of overdone and definitely reheated chicken and some type of ham - at least I think it was ham/gammon. Onion rings that were so out of place for the dish. My wife had very mediocre fish and chips and the bill came to £60 including starters. We were on holiday from Spain visiting friends. How on earth can people in the UK afford to eat out? The price of our meal would have bought us two Menus del Dia back home with wine included. Our meal in Bangor did not include alcohol settling for two waters.

I went to try out the world changing scone and was very disappointed to be given what to me was a cinnamon roll with butter on top?? Was totally confused….call me old fashioned but I like to cut open a scone and fill with jam and cream?? Maybe it’s just be! I will say though, the coffee was very good.
