"Lost for words. Exceptional from start to finish. You won’t find any better food in Bishops Stortford. Some of the best service, best food, best atmosphere I’ve been in. Why go to London when this is round the corner and at a fraction of the price! We’ll be back!

Food was cooked in the right way but rooms for improvement for seasoning. Fish dishes were too salty. Maybe there’s not enough staff, not attentive enough and no one care about food allergies. Overall atmosphere is great, good portion size. However, considering the service and the taste, not really worthy.

I visit Skew regularly and am never disappointed! The food is lovely and the staff are professional and friendly and I have always been made to feel very welcome. Highly recommended.

Amazing food. Very attentive and lovely staff, they fully accepted my guide dog being there. Nice outdoor area. We also really enjoyed the 2 for 1 cocktails. We will definitely be back soon.

I have actually never been more disgusted in my life by how I was treated. Popped in around 10 mins ago as staying in the area for work and I was turned away. When I queried why I just got a “sorry” and even when I mentioned there was ample seating inside and out all I got from the front of house was “sorry”. I have never been turned away from a restaurant before and I have even had corporate events here with my company. I will be making people aware of how they treat customers!

Absolutely wonderful experience! The atmosphere as we walked in was so luxurious, making us feel special right away. We were celebrating my mum's birthday, and they truly went above and beyond. Our waiter Robin, treated us like royalty, ensuring everything was perfect. They showered us with free cocktails, birthday cake, and ice cream, making the celebration even more memorable. The food was amazing, and every dish was a delight. Highly recommend for any special occasion and will be taking all my friends and family soon!

We come to Skew every so often on a Sunday usually for their Sunday roast and it’s so good! The beef is very tender and juicy; all the vegetables and trimmings are very nice. Generally food is always good otherwise on the a la carte, and the staff; in particular Robin is very friendly and welcoming. Thanks a lot

I do not ever leave reviews, and as one of my favourite places to dine in my home town which i go to multiple times a month it seems a little strange; however i felt impelled to want to leave a review as Okan our waiter, who has served us on so many occasions i can not account for, really has made our evenings so enjoyable with his attentive, polite, professional and personal persona. I wanted to ensure he was acknowledged. As for the restaurant.... the ambience is always amazing. The quality of the food is great, from the produce to chefs' precision cooking mastery. It is always fabulous and always consistent. Thank you, Ali, for creating this amazingl high-end eatlery experience, which can be enjoyed inside in the beautiful setting you have created, to the stunning alfresco conservatory dining with river veiws, to the outside relaxed river terrace. All of which I have personally enjoyed for the past 7 years. If you have not experienced this restaurant, then i would highly recommend whether it is a business lunch, a date, a girls' evening, a special event, a solo dinner, causal drink on the river in the sunshine, or just because...... You won't be disappointed. One last mention to one of my most memorable and incredible staff who use to work there called 'Sherif'. He was always phenomenal and will never be forgotten. Okan, you are great. A restaurant relies on quality food and impecible service. You have made a lovely evening perfect on multiple occasions when you have been there, so thank you! A fantastic experience from the moment we arrived. Skew never fails to impress. We were shown to our table in the conservatory, which is beautiful, overlooking the river. We visited for Father’s Day and we both ordered the roast lamb. Fabulous food of the highest quality and impeccable service.It’s always an absolute pleasure to dine at Skew.Thank you to Ali and all the front of house team for making us feel so welcome, we’ll be back very soon.

Visited last week on Saturday, for lunch with friends while celebrating the imminent arrival of her baby. Service was not great - either almost too intense and stern, or non existent. I wonder if they had new staff that day as some did not seem to know what they were doing. I think it would have been better if they paid less attention to their tablets and were friendlier towards customers. Food was okay - I enjoyed the flavour of the beef fillet skewer, but I wasn't asked how I'd like it cooked, so it was way over done for this cut of meat and was dry. The other food our table had was fine but we thought a little expensive for what it was. My gin basil sour cocktail was great. It was a nice view over the river from the conservatory.

Great place to have a Sunday roast. But they do also have a full a La carte menu. The atmosphere was great and we were also treated to a live piano player. The food and drinks were fantastic. I had the vegetarian roast option which was delicious. The staff were very helpful too. Thanks for a lovely afternoon.

We went on Saturday evening and had the most amazing experience with our family. The food was excellent. The waiter Service was beyond excellent many thanks for making it a lovely family evening five stars and beyond.

Great restaurant excellent service and great quality. Looked after very well and staff very friendly. Would recommend for that special occasion.

Good food good service from friendly staff

Visited Skew as a surprise retirement meal with family. This was the perfect venue! Food was unreal, service was amazing and the whole experience was once in a lifetime. We dealt with a female member of staff called Daisy over various weeks and she was amazing! A massive thank you again to Daisy and team as without them none of this was possible. The level of professionalism was out of this world. I would defo visit again and I highly recommend anyone to visit this little gem!

We booked the restaurant for my husbands retirement dinner and all I can say WOW, an amazing experience and highly recommend if you haven't already visited. Attentive Staff, exceptional front of house and a big thank you to Daisy our host for the night who truly was lovely and made the evening so special... I took my 14 years old son out for a date to Skew and ìt was a fantastic experience. Food was delicious and full of flavour, service impeccable, we will definitely go back.

Fantastic venue, superb food and wonderful staff. My wife and I visited for our wedding anniversary and had a great time. The staff made sure we were happy, well fed and watered. Even asking to ensure we weren't too hot or cold. Each course was delicious and the cocktails were very easy to drink. Looking forward to our next visit.

The food is mega, although pricey! Quality service, the cocktail bar upstairs is a back open, and is perfect for pre meal drinks.

Beautiful place with enticing menu. Overall is very clean which makes you feel even better. Food is delicious and made from quality ingredients. Atmosphere so luxurious especially on a sunny day. Loved it. The staff were nice and polite but a bit too intimidating. In general is nice to have this place in town.

We had a 40th Birthday party at Skew on Sunday and it was brilliant. So well organised and there were 25 of us, so not an easy task to arrange and serve. The staff there made it streamless and the food and service were brilliant. Adman and Daisy looked after our large party in the upstairs seating area and they went above and beyond to make the celebration of my sister's 40th Birthday a very memorable and special event for her. Thank you to all the hard-working Skew team and staff.

My niece had her 40th birthday family Sunday lunch at Skew. With nearly thirty people we were given the space upstairs to ourselves and were able to decorate as we liked. Daisy and Adman were designated to look after us. They couldn’t do enough for us. They remembered our names and our individual requirements and were extremely attentive, efficient and professional. I had roast lamb and my husband roast beef for our main meal. Really delicious as was all the meal. The ambiance both upstairs and downstairs very nice. A great experience.

Food was okay, though have to say the Turkish restaurants in North London are far better - better value with more food and that’s in London! I’ve never dined in at this place, so I suspect this would cost more, guess you are paying more for the atmosphere and location . I also gave a tip for my takeaway, certainly wouldn’t next time. Not rushing to go back.

As five uni friends meeting up for a 40 year anniversary, we were warmly welcomed at Skew.Ahmed made delicious cocktails and then we continued to be given great service by the rest of the restaurant team.All food was delicious- from the oysters to the crème brûlée.We all had different choices of starters and mains and could not fault any of them.The ambience of Skew was smart, modern and comfortable.We would not hesitate to recommend it and look forward to coming again.Thank you.

Lovely setting, impressive decor indeed. Waiting staff were pleasant and attentive, the food was good, not large portions but enough , and the meat was tender and cooked well. The only criticism would be that the drinks are very expensive and the hefty cost of those really increased the bill massively. and we not big drinkers.

I can’t fault the great birthday dinner we had here. We shared the mixed grill for two which was a complete feast. Also had the hot mezze which everyone enjoyed. People liked their pasta and one person had sushi which they thought was really fresh and quality. Baklava was also good. Although the food was all excellent, the staff went the extra mile, for example little extra things to try, complimentary shots, and bringing out our cake. I didn’t catch our server’s name but he was super kind to an elderly member of our party. Appreciated. Will be back.

Adnan was exceptional having visited many exceptional Restaurants enclosing sexy fish in London recently the cocktails are far superior!

We tried Skew for the first time for Valentines. We loved the menu choices and are excited to return. I especially would like to try the Sushi menu and my husband loves Turkish so this is a food win win for date nights. Service was very good and wonderfully attentive. Food was delicious!

The food indeed impressed, meriting a 4 out of 5 for its quality and presentation. However, the ambiance was loud and lacked sophistication, catering to a wide array of people. The service experience significantly detracted from the visit, particularly an issue with my wine order. Despite ordering Pinotage, I was served Shiraz without prior notification that my first choice was unavailable. I noticed that and was quiet. The situation was poorly handled, with a dismissive response when I pointed out the mix-up. In essence, while the restaurant offers good dishes, its service and atmosphere leave much to be desired. It may suit those who prioritise food over a refined dining experience, but for others, it might be worth considering alternatives.

We arrived from Cambridge for a Sunday lunch and had roasted lamb and chocolate/caramel tart. The food was really delicious. Really good service from a friendly staff. The ambience relaxed and modern. Surely we will come back.

We had a good evening and the food was nice - not outstanding but, enjoyable. The pricing is way off though!! £275 for 2 people and 20% service charge! Extortionate even compared to London. I've eaten at the Ivy and Claridges etc for less. Wouldn't return just because it's daylight robbery which is otherwise a real shame.

Nice price but for the fact they reheat their roast potatoes in a microwave not so good

Very nice place and tasty food. I was there with a group of about 20 girls. We celebrated a friend's 40th birthday. We would like to thank the waiters Serafettin and Necati, they tried very hard to make our time pleasant, unfortunately the waiting time for the food was definitely too long that evening. That's why my rating is lower by one star. However, I would love to come back there to see what it all looks like during a normal dinner for two.

Wow, what a wonderful experience we had- can’t wait to come back! The restaurant is beautiful, the tables are not too close together like some places. The service was attentive, friendly and professional. The food was exceptional- the oysters were some of the best I have had and they were huge. Sushi has recently been added to the menu and it is great quality, I hope it stays. The octopus was cooked so perfectly, again it was one of the best I have eaten. Baklava was incredible too. We can’t wait to return.

Booked for 7pm on 3/11. On entering the restaurant we were not greeted by anyone and there did not appear to be a designated front of house staff. When someone did appear there was no welcome simply ‘what name is the reservation?’ I thought this was rude and unwelcoming. After being seated and browsing the menu we had to call over a waiter to take the drinks and food order rather than the waiters being proactive. Although the main waiter for our section did come and apologise for this and introduce himself the service did not get any better and was slow and not to the standard I would expect. The food was good, but the overall experience was not good as the service was poor and it was not even a busy evening with 30% of the tables being empty. We paid (including the service charge) £178 for 2 people but I would not return based on the lack of care for service which is quite frankly disappointing at this price point and ruins the experience. Management need to train the front of house and create a table system that ensures equal service to all customers.

Food, service and ambience is always first class at Skew. It's our go to restaurant for a fantastic meal. The baked prawn starter and scallops for main are incredible. I'm so happy they now have sushi too.

Excellent food for a special occasion

We had a very disappointing evening at this restaurant yesterday I booked it for my anniversary and asked for a nice table I got a table by the doors They had no Sunday menu or even steak Will not be going here again

Really liked ambiance and very attentive service from the waiters. Only detraction would be that the exterior menu didn't match the interior one so the dessert I wanted wasn't an option; and the prices of the desserts had all gone up significantly since the exterior menu had been updated.

Awww an excellent place for a romantic night out in a cozy environment.

Best roast beef what i had after long time and was still available after 5pm really appreciated.

I am yet to try Skew for an evening meal, so I can not comment on what kind of experience it may be. I was here for Sunday lunch with my family and very happy with the overall experience. We are looking forward to another visit.

It was expensive but to be honest it was well worth it, everything we had was delicious, especially the main, which was the hot seafood platter for 2. Everyone we encountered was so friendly, helpful and accomodating. The place was clean and beautifully decorated. We had a great evening and will definitely be back

Good food great position, evening sunny aspect, really friendly attentive but not imposing staff. Really great service from Bishtak (sorry if incorrectly spelt). All in all a real reason not to go to a chain or franchise.

Really lovely meal, everyone who looked after us was wonderful, everyone was very accommodating, and most importantly the food was delicious!

Food was superb, service very attentive and beautiful interior. Could not fault, would highly recommend and would absolutely return to try the rest of the menu!!

Expensive but a beautiful restaurant

This was a very disappointing visit. Having dined at Skew last Christmes, and on many other past occasions, we were looking forward to a pleasant lunch with our two guests. The service was indifferent, the Cote de Provence was served at room temperature, and I had to stop the waiter from pouring the warm rose all round. When we asked for a chilled bottle, we were offered another that was equally warm There seemed to be no appreciation on the waiter's part, that this mattered at all, but he did concede to fill the chiller with ice cubes One of our guests was served a cold chicken kebab for starters, but after the staff's indifference to the unforgivable warm wine, he decided not to bother to complain. At a cost of over £280.00 we decided not to repeat this experience in the future.

Not a great start... We booked a table for bank holiday Monday after specifically asking the receptionist if their weekday menu was available. She assured us that it was... The table next to us... An extended family of at least 8 had also been told this. In stead, we were brought the regular a la carte menu. When we asked for the promised menu, we were told that the receptionist had made a mistake and wasn't available... No apologies, no obvious regrets. Eventually the owner offered a 10% discount on the food. My partner was set on eating there... I would have walked out. The family stayed too. The food was superb, we shared a hot meze, then tempura prawns. I followed with succulent octopus, my partner's lamb chops weren't available so she had chicken shish. Every item was utterly perfect. We were seated in the conservatory,overlooking the water. But it was like being in a noisy greenhouse, though the plants were plastic. There were no soft furnishings or real plants and I was constantly distracted by the conversation of a woman whose voice seemed to bounce off the walls and windows. We couldn't manage pudding, but had fabulous cocktails in stead. This place has huge potential, but the attitude of the owner and the poor acoustics need work

The food was absolutely delicious especially the desserts. The price is kind of expensive but the food is worth the price. The service and the staff are great and kind, always there then you need anything. I enjoyed my meal.

The reason for the 2 star food is not because of the quality, the quality of the food is good, it is because of the value. Three Tempura prawns & a small bowl of sauce as a starter for £12 is not good value. Dover sole for £44 again is not the good value. Overall quite an expensive place to eat for what you get. Good service and nice ambience.

Even now in winter if you are around Bishop's, you need to visit this unique place. Is not a typical Turkish restaurant. It is such a modern style, with Turkish flavours. Food absolutely delicious, Staff very friendly and helpful if you don't have a clue of Turkish diet. A great selection of international wines to choose. We will definitely recommend this restaurant and we will repeat again.

I’ve eaten at the Palm Court at the Plaza Hotel in New York and the Ivy several times, but Skew is my stand out favourite. Difficult to put your finger on why this restaurant is so good, but it is good in every way. The food, the ambiance, the view, the friendliness. Ten out of ten. I have dined there many many times and look forward to visiting again soon.

I choose this restuarant for our Anniversary dinner having never been there before but was not disappointed. We had our 9 week old with us so we a little were worried how we would be recieved. The whole experience was delightful, the manager (Pepe) went above and beyond. For example, when we order 12 oysters and 9 turned up, he comped us for the missing 3 and brought them straight over amongst other little touches. It was also a Monday and it is nice to actually see a restuarant open on this day. Lovely staff, the food and wine was exceptional, the atmosphere was lovely and we were given the VIP treatment. We highly recommend. Thanks Skew, a real treat.
