I went there with my sister and a friend to try they cafe upstairs and the food was amazing, you could tell it was all homemade and the man that served us was so friendly and nice, keeping an eye out in case we needed anything else. The nice lady in the main shop also asked how our experience was when we left too, which I was really nice. We’ll definitely be repeat customers.

After hearing so much about the creamy, delicious Orkney ice cream, we had to try it out. We were not disappointed. The ice cream is delightful and the servings are plentiful. There are other tempting treats to choose from as well.

Orkney has the best grass that make the best cows, that make the best milk and cream, that make superb, all-natural ice cream. Sinclair’s have the widest range of delicious flavours on display in a charming traditional sweet-shop.

Jar upon jar of different sweets adorn the back wall. A variety of ice creams is available, but one of the owners is also a Chocolatier!!! If you're on a diet - you'd better stay away!!! For anyone with a sweet tooth, walk into heaven!

Good value and creamy with unusual flavours making the choice difficult and prompting a quick return. Not good for my diet though.

Great little shop in the center of town with a new range of delish choccies in their own case. The wee cupcake shaped strawberry creams are to die for. The dark mints and orange creams are also recommended. Try the Orkney ice cream, really creamy, the Lemon Curd is lemony nice and not too sweet. Chocolate is luscious, cool and chocolicious, available in tubs and cones. Don’t miss out - a real star is the old fashioned hard candies in jars. Yummy soor plums and butterscotch plus dozens of others can be weighed out to your specification. An inexpensive treat to tuck in a handbag or rucksack. (If you like a Wethers try the old fashioned butterscotch here, so much nicer. Less sweet and a real taste of home.) There is a good selection of retro sweeties too, last time I was in I noticed cinder candy, blackjack and Nerds! There was also a good selection of diabetic/ dietetic treats.

Popped in as we walked up the main shopping street in Kirkwall. It was a nice day in April and so went in for some ice cream. Cheaper than Aberdeen and good scoop sizes. The strawberry ice cream was great. Really friendly staff too.

Ok I am hooked on things Sinclair and Ice Cream. But nicest of all was the kind proprietor that kept the place open after hours so we could partake of some of that fine ice cream!

Sinclair's looks outside like a sweet and take-away ice cream shop, but inside, there are some steps leading up to a bright and light first floor ice cream parlour. There are also cakes and drinks available, but the main focus is the Orkney ice cream. We chose a lemon curd and lime sundae and a toffee honeycomb sundae, which both arrived a after a short wait. They were both fantastic and nicely presented. Service was a bit mixed - the girl who came to the table to take the order was very pleasant. The sundaes arrived at the same time, being brought by two waitresses. One placed a sundae down gently on the table, whereas the other almost threw it at the table! Great value for only £5.50 each. We were there near 5pm, which is when it closed, so with the chairs being stacked on top of the tables around us, we felt inclined to rush so the staff could get off home. Would have scored higher if the service was better.

Spoiled for choice, all sorts of delicatessen to pick from. Not super cheap or expensive but had a good browse and bought some relish, cheese and oatcakes.

Simon is the person who served us each day this week. Very dry sense of humour & not a man to be rushed! The coffee and teas are good. Small selection of eats - a fab coconut and chocolate cake and hot pies. Only 4-5 small tables available ( and takeaway). Only seems to be open around 9am or 9.30am, not 8am as advertised. Good old fashioned easy listening music.

Lovely tearoom with lots of options (including those for vegetarians): baked potatoes, salads, soups, sandwiches, falafel, burgers, cream teas, cakes and traybakes. The crab roll must be popular as it was sold out when we visited. On popularity - best to ring ahead and book a table if you can (no dogs allowed inside, outside there is a small uncovered seating area where they are welcome). I hope to visit again. I have eaten a lot of rocky road in my time, it is my favourite thing to get if it is on the menu so I consider myself quite the connoisseur. The rocky road at this tearoom is the best I’ve ever had. Staff also very friendly, and there is a wonderful view out to Brough of Birsay.

The website says open 10-5. This is only the gift shop not the brewery. Brewery tour times change daily. Staff said they expect tourists will phone ahead to ask about daily tour times. None of this information is on their website. Drove 40 minutes from Kirkwall for nothing

Coffee was nice but there was a member of staff who was exceptionally rude, with extremely poor customer service. She knew we were waiting, we even made eye contact twice as she proceed to then potter around doing nothing whilst we waited, and a queue of others formed behind us. Eventually the poor barista who was already rushed off of his feet took everyone’s orders whilst this member of staff chatted to people in the kitchen and drank water.
