Simmons Bakery in East Hertfordshire

The best place on the planet. If you like food, which everyone does, you’ll like Simmons. Whenever I leave Ware I miss this place. If you go get the blueberry muffin, it has real blueberries in the centre. Also a good light snack is the smarties cookie. Also there are good deli options. It’s quality over quantity. I have bought three people all the way up from Bristol to visit this gem of a place. It’s my birthday next week and best believe I am celebrating with a piece of cake (the best you can find).

The food was prepared with the utmost care. Clean and efficiently done. I willmake sure to go there again.

A fabulous Hertfordshire bakery... Our branch often has a queue, because it's good! Lovely breads, pastries and cakes. Fresh sandwiches to takeaway too.

Purchased a coffee in their Hoddesdon shop. It tasted like dishwater so took the lid off and saw it was just hot milk! Called the shop who apologised and said to come back and get a free one next time. Went back got my coffee and it was so weak i had to add instant coffee when i got back to the office!! what a rip off. Stingey with the fillings too. I've decided i wont be going back. They know what they're doing by ripping us off!!

As much as I like the food here and the staff are pleasant, the elderly lady there always takes money with the same glove she prepares the food with, apart from that, everything else is on point.

Lovely staff, Real sourdough and on Friday, fruit cob. Delish!

I wish there were 2 in town, usually busy, but pretty quick service.

Customer service was shocking the lady who served me was rude she shouldn't be in a Customer service role sandwich filling was poor won't be coming back !!

Good for a quick bite when in Ware. Had sausage rolls and a cup of tea and sat outside watching the world go by. Food was delicious and the tea was how it should be. Finished it off with a Belgian bun. . . result.

So, upon entrance there was no one to be seen They said they’ll return in 5 mins but it felt more like 15! I asked for chicken mayo and they did but with bacon, plus my girlfriend is allergic and she said for god sake and then she picked out all the bits and replaced it with something not pork, don’t get me started on how I got macaroni and no one offered me a fork. I can’t believe the lazy workers they didn’t even seem like rushing, my girlfriend did eat some bacon though now our toilets no longer flushing. 2 stars.

Excellent bakery with great staff. Would make 2 suggestions if they read this 1. Have a dedicated breakfast queue so the loaf only people don't have to wait so long and 2. Sell half loaves as the whole loaf goes dry if youre on your own and it lasts 2-3 days.

Hot chocolate is sublime. Cakes are absolutely delicious.

Love there Belgium buns. Only gripe is, the cardboard container they put them in should be deeper as the icing gets stuck to the bag. But a very good bakery. Superb range of tasty cakes and sandwich filling.

To expensive bacon roll £4 with two bits of bacon. Plus a can of coke and cheese bacon turnover total £8 rip off wont go back

Great bakers, great selection. Bit pricey but lovely. So more of a treat than everyday.

It's a Simmons bakery, what more can I say? Good pasteries and baked good. If I see a Simmons, I go to it. Get the Roast Beef Baguette, Bacon Roll, Any of the pasties if you need to be told what to get lol

Always craving one of their breakfast rolls. Great selection of cakes, pies and pastries. Their harvester loaves are beautiful. I appreciate the eco-friendly paper packaging but wish it was their default over the plastic!

Had a wonderful experience at Simmons bakery this week, I'm a regular visitor and get served often by the two managers here and have found them to go above and beyond what is expected from standard customer service. The sandwiches are always fresh and the cakes delicious. All the staff are welcoming and so friendly, always able to support with any order or query, despite the difficulties that is faced from other members of the public in regards to social distancing, queuing and wearing masks as per government guidance. Would never go to another bakery.

Excellent bakery, a real traditional treat. Great choice of breakfast goods as well. Painfully slow service.

It's a lovely bakers as always busy and the cakes look and taste so yummy and the fillings you can choose to put in your rolls or bread have good variety and decent hot chocolate drink!

They do a good selection of pastries and sandwiches rolls and good customer service and polite friendly staff.

Nice place and I love the buns. However I wish they could offer a bit more variety in bread as they have only multi seeded or wholemeal loafs and if you want white you need to buy the square one for the toast. Also their donuts are only with jam, I wish they could do custard ones too. Very yummy pastries and cakes. Nice Staff.

Today I visited Simmons bakery and purchased 2 fresh made sandwiches and a coffee, the bread was super fresh and the fillings are kept in small containers meaning they are always nice and fresh. The team working there are always really friendly and welcoming. This place has been a godsend as my pregnant girlfriend is craving cheese salad sandwiches haha highly recommend Simmons bakery, their seasonal cookies are amazing too

Great bakery, everything good. They even do homemade croissants! (Chocolate, almond, plain, all delicious) always got a queue on Saturday, it's popular for a reason.

The service was appalling ,those two girls, or were incompetent ,or they were waiting for the closing time.I had to ask 3 times for the tables outside to be cleared of the leftovers and cleaned,as they were dirty and sticky.I also had to ask few times for some napkins.None of them thought about putting some plastic forks in the take away bag.And I had better capucino,this one didn't t have the consistency or the taste.The girl also missed one product on the order,but at least I wasn't charged. I had better service in other Simmons shops,but this one is a dissapointment.

Staff are ok however the shop is overpriced and for an apparently classy bakery the bread slicer only has one thickness... thin so if you are looking for thick sliced go to cozens bakery as they have slicers with choice 😊

Unbelievably rude staff (the one who spoke to us anyway, there were two). So rude in fact we walked away without even buying anything. Maybe some lessons in manners and how to speak to customers should be considered.

Bought granary cob. Delicious treat. Shop safe and queueing works ok.

Regrettably, the almond and cherry slice no longer has loose roasted almonds scattered upon the top of the slice. this is due, she said to the possibility of a fallen flake contaminating some other confection. The slice was still delicious as was their coffee.

They have the best cakes, at freak great prices. The staff are friendly and always helpful.

Passing the Ware bakery we popped in and asked if they had any almond and cherry slices. The very helpful lady disappeared and returned with two slices of pure joyful delight. She reminded me that the almond slice might contain nuts, I am pleased to say there was loads of flavour from the almonds. The cherries are nicely tart as a balance. It isn't often that I can not resist, but a Simmons slice is one of those occasions. Long may they reign.

Great bakery, friendly helpful staff and a wide assortment of sweet treats, sandwiches and soups. At most a minor criticism for a personal preference, but I wish the pasties had a bit more filling inside them, otherwise hard to fault.

Perhaps we are lucky but the service and fare we receive in Simmons are top class. Even if the staff were surly, which they are most certainly not, going there to taste their cherry and almond slice would be worth it.

Although the girl who served me was very polite she made the worst cup of tea I've ever purchased..akin to dirty dishwasher! The ham 'salad' roll she made me was a joke! I took one bite and literally had to open the sandwich to check for said salad. Very poor in my opinion.

Excellent baker's shop on the High Street in Ware, with a fine range of sandwiches prepared to order. Busy time when we went in- 12 noon, but hardly any wait. Pleasant and accommodating staff. Fabulous lemon drizzle cake!

Excellent, as always. The cheese and chilli sourdough is one of the things that holds me back from going full vegan. Too much chilli for my other half so I end up troughing the lot. Try it toasted with mushrooms on. And yes I know I could it it in half and freeze it...

Great fresh sandwiches, with a good choice of fillings. What makes me return time after time are the good portions of fillings. Everything tastes fresh. No toilets within their seating areas so nowhere to wash your hands before you eat!

The service like their fare is just great five stars all the way. We sat outside and enjoyed a toasted tuna melt sandwich with a cup of bluegrass tea. I would have eaten an almond cherry slice but they didn't have any left. Hopefully next time.

I am a regular visitor to the Simmons empire having eaten their fare in Hertford, St Albans, Berkhampstead as well as Ware. We are not always lucky enough to find the elusive cherry and almond tart but having ordered two slices the day before we were not likely to be disappointed. Our order was held in reserve for us, so the collection was not a problem and I have to report the taste was wonderful, every bit as good as I remember. My partner jokingly complained that there were too many cherries and that she didn't have enough room to eat it all, but after eating just one mouthful, she didn't let the side down and she cleared her plate.

We went into the Ware bakery and ordered two cherry and almond slices for the next day. We turned up at 10.30 and they cut us two slices of confectionary heaven. These we ate later and were absolutely delicious. If I was able to award more than five I would.

We sat outside and chatted to other cyclists who had read the reviews and had chosen Simmons to stop for a coffee and cake. I didn’t tell them I was the culprit who wrote the words, but they were as pleased with their coffee and cake as were. I hope that they make more of the cherry and almond slice as it always sold out by the time we arrive, but the apple pie was as delicious as ever.

A great bakers in the Ware high street. They do a range of freshly baked goodies. All the things you'd expect from crumbly warm sausage rolls to iced doughnuts (plus some of the largest and amazing looking chelsea buns I've ever seen). There're seasonal additions as well, the stollen bites (it was Christmas) were really very good. They make sandwiches for you using bread or rolls baked in store (white, brown, seeded etc). The fillings are plentiful (plain meats to coronation chicken style selections available). It's not a processing line as quick or dedicated as a local sandwich store (you know the name!) but they are prepared fresh in front of you with the salad bits of your choice. Recommend this place but it does get busy in the middle of lunchtime. As the food is better than others nearby it gets quite busy at peak customer times. If you are happy to wait then it is worth it.

Eating outside in the sunshine is always a bit of a treat and made especially so when its at Simmons Bakery. I again had the Lemon Grass and Coconut infusion and this time with a slice of apple pie. The pastry was excellent and the filling not overly sweet. It complimented the tea beautifully. The service as always is welcoming polite and efficient.

We again stopped at Simmons and sat out side to keep an eye on the bikes. I ordered a toasted hunters chicken sandwich on granary and a slice of cherry almond cake plus a pot of herbal tea. The fare was delivered in good time and tasted every bit as good as I remember our last visit to be. The cherry slice was perfection itself, good strong flavours and very moist so even at £3 it was well worth it. The herbal tea, lemon grass and coconut turned blue. I wasn't put off by this and it was hot and very refreshing. The bill wasn't cheap, but I felt we had received very good value for our money. I look forward to riding through Ware again so I can revisit.

Sitting outside we were served quickly with one of the most delicious toasted sandwiches I have ever eaten.
