Food is reasonable, affordable and very tasty. Staff is very friendly ans know how to fulfill the customers need. I had curried chicken with steamed veg, chips, ackee and saltfish and fried dumplin was delicious. I highly recommend Simmadown for your lovely dinner.

Tried Simmadown for the first time tonight after seeing them on Facebook and fancying something different. All I can say is 'Wow!!'. The owner is bright and bubbly and this definitely has a 'small family establishment' feel to it. The smell inside is intoxicating, and the vibe is very much Afro-Carribean. We went for 2x large Curry Goat, 1 with rice and peas, the other with Jollof rice. A portion of Jerk Chicken, a portion of Plantain, and a 'Festival'. Better as a takeaway, as very limited seating inside. Food was piping hot by the time we got back home, and there was plenty of it! The Jollof rice was tasteful with loads of spices and flavour, the curry goat was some of the best I've had, the plantains were flavourful (better than ones in Revs De Cuba! Just wish there was more!), the Jerk Chicken was swimming in sauce (not something you get much of these days!), and the 'Festival' was a lovely sweet bread to contrast the warm spices. Soul found in every bite that matched the warmth from the owners when you stepped on the premises. For £31, it represents good value for money (we were stuffed by the end of it) and Simmadown are a small, local establishment that deserve to thrive. We will be back again, you have a new customer in me! Folks, get down and support your local businesses! This is quite an experience!

Absolutely delicious! The curry goat is exceptional and the jerk chicken so tender and succulent. Perfectly spiced just the right amount of heat. Rice and pea is one of my favourites! Chips could rival even the best chippys. Lots of offers on and environmentally friendly packaging. Super portions and great value for money, I'm so glad I found this place, we will be returning often! The owner so friendly and welcoming. 110% recommend!

OMG Kidderminster so lucky. Was just visiting and the food here is so fresh so authentic. And cooked to perfection. Spice levels are just perfect. Customer service was excellent very attentive, great chilled atmosphere, had a few laughs. Spot on place to eat 10/10

Unfortunately I don’t have photos of the food because it smelt so good I ate into it and couldn’t stop. This is a little African-Caribbean restaurant run by the friendliest staff in a small shop, keep in mind there are only about 2 eat-in tables. I recommend the Jollof Rice, and we had the Jerk and Stewed Chicken which were both flavourful and spicy. Highly recommend this place! What a wonderful find 😊

Yup!Simmadown African-Caribbean Cuisine is a yummy-yummy place to dine and make you forget your problems for real, food is mouthwatering , drinks is quenching, the environment is a whole good and welcoming vibes and Simone crack jokes left us laughing , food served hot and on time with all that I am very delighted to come back over and over again. I came for Jerks chicken, rice, veggies and I ended up getting3 dumplings for free oh what a bonus. Thank you so much see yah all soon. ❤️

Not a good experience last night ordered curry chicken and 2 spicy rice with fried plantain and coleslaw the women was pleasant enough but told me she was just helping out curry chicken was Luke warm not rapped in cling film so went cold quickly only managed to get one burrito as she'd made a mess of the other that too was tepid hardly any filling a couple of plantain it's usually spot on there if your going to ask people to help out make sure they know what there doing I'll give it another go some time hopefully they'll get back on course🙏

REAL Caribbean flavour, moist jerk chicken with that sweet smoky spice and fluffy coconut rice. Best jerk I've had outside Brixton. Large box feeds 2. Warm friendly vibe. I'll be back.

The food was absolutely delicious. I had never tried Caribbean food before and it was lovely. Delivery was a little late but the food made up for it. My only complaint is that the cardboard container for the curry was a disaster and pretty much disolved. May be best to pop it into two pots instead. Thankyou!

I spotted Simmadown's signboard whilst randomly passing Kidderminster train station (they're almost next door) and I can never resist some good home Afro-Caribbean cooking, so I thought I'd check them out. I'm glad I did! It began with a warm welcome, verging on the hilarious, from the proprietor. I know what I like, so stuck with the 'benchmark' selection of jerk chicken, rice & peas, plus a festival (sweet, fried bread roll for the uninitiated). There was plenty of friendly banter whilst I was waiting, and I was allowed to 'test' the home-made jerk sauce first to see how hot it was: It was spot on - not ridiculously hot, but fiery enough, and with a great depth of flavour: jerk is all about flavour, not necessarily heat, and Simmadown's is just right. The chicken was moist, tasty, and on-the-bone. The portions were incredibly generous, and the rice and peas took me back to my youth when I first tried the dish prepared by my old Jamaican boss's wife back in the 90s: It's rare to find 'bulk' rice & peas that isn't dry, or flavourless, and I'm happy to say Simmadown's was great. The festival was also pretty good, even though I don't think is was freshly cooked (maybe that morning?) - it was certainly kept warm properly as it had the right crusty bite one expects from these delicious breads. It's great to find something at random which meets your expectations, and this is one of the best Afro-Caribbean takeaways I've had in a long time. I hope they do well and I can swing by next time I'm in Kiddy... I completely forgot to pick up a Grape Soda!

The food from Simmadown is outstanding. Just finished our second takeaway (we’ve tried the chickpea curry, jerk chicken, goat curry and veggie burrito so far) and we are hooked. Makes such a change to have really decent quality takeaway food round here. The staff are lovely too. If you’re thinking of trying it out, do it.

Another absolutely amazing dinner. I particularly enjoyed the Jollof rice with the Jerk chicken, and I'm so happy we can now order more jerk sauce 😋.. We will be returning again and again. Staff also very friendly and welcoming when I came to collect. Order was ready for me and it was checked infront of me to make sure nothing was missed. Delicious guys keep it up

Yum yum yum 😋 the curry goat rice and peas with steamed vegetables is absolutely delicious top notch and portion size hearty. This food actually reminds me of meals cooked by my extended family I haven’t had a takeaway meal that even came close to home cooked family meals before but this one does. I’ll be back again for sure. Even though I live far away from the restaurant/shop my food still arrived pipping hot. The delivery driver was lovely too. And to find a takeaway with Bigga Jamaican cola

I was on my way home from the train station and noticed the Simmadown and thought I must give it a try! And I was pleasantly welcomed by the man behind the counter who was more than happy to help me figure out what I wanted. I ordered the Jerk Chicken with Rice and Peas with Steamed Veg and I was taken aback by how much food you get for your money. It was a very warm and comforting and was very much enjoyed. I look forward to going back again at some point to try out their other signature dishes like their curry goat mutton and dumplings! :))

First time trying. I made a couple of requests and they called and confirmed to make sure they had everything right. 3 different meals all fantastic flavours and great portion sizes. This area needs a great Caribbean restaurant, chuffed I’ve found it.

Never had Carribbean food before so I called in and asked Mattias for his suggestions for a group menu. He put together a fabulous selection of great food, mutton curry, chicken curry, brown chicken with 3 different kinds of rice plus other sides and sundries. All the dishes were marvelous. If you've not tried this kind of food before pop in speak with Mattias he will put you right. If you're having a party, definitely think about Simmadown.

Excellent food, really enjoyed it and different to the usual food available locally. Prepared well, packed well in recyclable packing and delivered with a smile. It was a little later than promised, but would definitely order again!

I cannot thank you enough for delivering out to us this far, we moved here from Birmingham years ago now and until now haven’t been able to access locally this quality and flavour of traditional food. Kidderminster is so lucky to have this place! I only discovered Simmadown a few weeks ago and have ordered the large curried goat each time. It is incredible! Gorgeous!!!! Curry was rich and flavorful, loads in a box to go round. Dumplings were AMAZING and will definitely be back for the Festival (sweet dumplings) Helped me choose and explained the options. Nice to have a healthier option to the usual takeaways. Fantastic takeaway , something new and different for Kidderminster . The Jerk chicken is superb , i have also eaten several of the curried dishes and all very good . Brilliant service , very helpful and prompt . Delivery service is also very good , my new preferred takeaway in Kiddy , lots of other dishes for me to try in the future

I had a meal a while back from Simmadown that wasn’t the greatest - got it through Too Good to Go. Anyway I thought that it was only fair to give them one more chance to see what it’s really like. Glad I did! My goodness what a difference! I ordered a large goat curry as my experience with places in the West Midlands is that usually there’s more bone than meat so you need to order a large. Not here you don’t- my goodness it’s enough for two meals! Comes with a choice of sides - I chose rice and peas and dumpling. For good measure I ordered another dumpling and a plantain to fill me up- they’re also dinner tomorrow! The food is excellent, portions are huge and I always judge a Caribbean restaurant on its dumplings and these pass with flying colours. I’m so glad I gave them another chance to prove themselves to me- no doubt I’ll be popping in just for fresh dumplings. PS can we have oxtail and cow’s foot please! I had a meal through the too good to go app. I got a huge plate of rice with a few vegetables thrown in and no meat. The food was cold and so I was asked to heat it at home. I like spicy food but this was so hot it set my mouth on fire and it was a boring dish too. It went straight into the bin after 2 mouthfuls. Sorry and it’s a pity because I actually love Jamaican food

Owe my felt like I was back in gramma Philips house. Moved over from Birmingham feb and met Jack the chef few weeks ago. Told me about the restaurant. First order today 😍. Lady was a pleasure to talk on phone. Then she delivered a box full to the top. Presentation soon as I opened box I said owe my gosh look at this. Had a massive plate of pure bliss (mutton curry fried dumplings coleslaw) and I loved it. Was amazing tasted perfect. Meat melted in my mouth. 10/10 nd what a lovely lady. That’s my Thursday take away sorted. When I’m in town I’m gonna stop for soup every chance 😍

The smell of food when your first come in is amazing but that was one of the only bonus today I’m afraid . I’m gutted as myself and husband love Jamaican food and we’re really excited to try but we’re totally let down. Nothing was cooked fresh , we both had jerk chicken , rice and peas and dumplings all of which had to be heated in the microwave . Our sauce was not put on our food and because of that everything was a bit dry and needed salt or seasoning . It was moderately priced and a decent portion but the taste and delivery of “warmed up food” was just not worth the price . Very disappointing :(

Had no idea this place existed til today, after I saw a man putting an a-board out advertising jerk chicken! Lady serving was so friendly and nice, suggested goat curry and jerk chicken combo with veg and some rice and peas, bought some dumplings too. The portion was huge - enough for husbands dinner and leftovers for tomorrow. Quality stuff, will be back definitely 👍🏻

Found this place by chance and was not disappointed. Staff were friendly and explained the options on the menu. Contrary to a previous review, the food had been freshly prepared in their kitchen, the portions were huge and delicious. I had the mutton curry which melts in your mouth. Interestingly their food boxes kept the meals piping hot even though I live some distance away in Tenbury wells. Would recommend.
