Sift : Cafe & Bakery in Leeds

Met up with a friend for lunch here yesterday, had a lovely veggie lunch in this cafe in the heart of Otley. We each had sandwiches and they were delicious. I am gluten intolerant so was pleased to see that gluten free and vegan diets are well catered for here. I also had a vegan and gluten free cake, which I think was coconut and date - absolutely gorgeous! Our meal was good value too and staff were friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning to Sift!

My sister who can only eat gluten-free food and I called in for coffee, but we could not resist the cakes, they have a superb selection of vegan and gluten-free cakes, I had a gluten-free cake and it was delicious. So we then bought some to take home. Whenever my sister visits me (she lives in Scotland) we always go for coffee and a delicious cake.

We ordered our wedding celebration cake from Sift and it was perfect. After emailing with Rosie we decided on the size, flavour and decoration and it was exactly what we were hoping for. Everyone commented on it on the day and we're so glad we still have some in the freezer ☺️ we also love visiting the cafe. Would 100% recommend!

Lovely vegetarian lunch and cakes from staff who were warm and friendly. Really accommodating for our disabled child as well which was very much appreciated.

I've been here a few times now, and Otley is very lucky to have such a nice cafe! I've had a few cakes and they've all been amazing, great coffee and hot chocolate. Always really friendly service, and they're dog friendly too!

Quintessentially quaint and well kept British cafe with beautifully presented, healthy, home made food. Friendly staff who were flexible to adapt to child food requests. Tasteful decor and relaxing atmosphere to chill with safe covid feel. Amazing presentation of food. We loved the granola, avocado toast and humous toast. Also lots of delicious looking cakes.

Absolutely amazing flavours! Can never just pick one cake, we order almost everything on the menu every time we go. Definitely fix any sweet tooth cravings when they strike.

My sister and I have to pop into sift whenever we are in otley. There’s a trillion different cake options, and so many vegan ones too, there’s nobody who does cake better! This week (went twice, whoopppss!!) we had banoffee, and a coffee and pecan cake. Both were incredible. Lovely latte too. Also wonderful to go somewhere that still wants to make sure everything is safe and clean. Xx

It's always nice to find a place that prides itself on being vegetarian/vegan establishment. I have had the pleasure of enjoying the cakes multiple times from Sift but hadn't actually had a chance to sit down and really enjoy what they had to offer on their menu. After being greeted and seated we were served by Hayley, who was incredibly helpful and polite. Nothing was too much hassle. After ordering the drinks, I could tell that Hayley was a highly skilled barista because the drinks were not only delicious and impressive looking, they were also the correct temperature. Far too often I have had burnt, nasty drinks from lousy chain cafes that were hotter than the sun and poorly executed. These were so far from that, made with love. They even have an array of different non dairy 'milk' types to accommodate different preferences and dietary needs! Along with my drink, I ordered the Avocado toast (which I would highly recommend as a light bite). We weren't waiting long as the food arrived swiftly. It was flavourful, fresh and put together with care (very instagramable!!). I followed it up with a Mocha flavoured cake which was, as always spot on! They normally have quite a few different ones to chose one, but the mocha is one of my personal favourites. I would highly recommend anybody to take the time to visit Sift. Not only because they serve delicious food and drink, but they really care about your experience. I really want to say thank you to Hayley and the rest of the team for always making my visits memorable. I will be back soon!

This was the second time I’d visited Sift and I plan on making many more visits in future - although my waistline may not thank me! I’m not from the area but this cake and bake shop is easily the highlight of a day trip to Otley and I highly recommend popping in for a treat. There is a fantastic range of baked goods for a variety of dietary requirements. The love and care that goes into each one is very clear to see. The cakes look like works of art and taste... out of this world! Absolutely delicious!! The cafe itself is very cute, with lovely decor and vintage details and both times I’ve visited the staff were impeccable: friendly, polite, answered any questions I had and can’t do enough to help. I’m hard of hearing so I appreciate a little extra patience when I have to ask people to repeat things and the staff here are fantastic! Looking forward to my next trip to Otley already :D

What is not to like? The staff are friendly, the food is amazing, the coffee is always perfect and the cakes are unreal. If you're going to be in Otley, don't miss out!

An absolute gem of a cafe! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone. It's also clearly a veggie cafe with so many vegan options (I can throughly recommend the smores cupcake or the avocado on toast!) The iced dirty chai latte is also, a game changer. They've recently opened up the downstairs for sit-ins when we paid a visit.. Overall a lovely, clean space and I felt very welcomed by the helpful and friendly staff. Well worth a visit if you're in the area. PS. Possibly most importantly, the coffee is very good.

People should be made aware that this is principally a vegetarian/vegan cafe which is not made clear. Therefore the operatives will not touch meat, so only cheese and vegetables are available. I am gluten free for medical reasons, whereas vegitarianism is a life choice, which is fine for them as long as they make it clear that everything else comes second. They put gluten free in a way which indicated that this had had equal consideration. The operative who was vegetarian responded to my requests for other sandwich fillings as if I was stupid because in her view it was obvious that the cafe was primarily for vegetarians. It is not obvious. I chose an overpriced cheese toasty which was not very well filled and a gluten free cake which at best could be described as dry. The cake had pieces of dried flower on, which I picked out as I have multiple allergies. They should specify what is in their goods for health reasons. As this was a birthday celebration, especially because of the abrasive manner of the vegetarian lady the element of joy and celebration was erased.

Lovely little place if you are either on the go or stopping to have a coffee and a cake. Best coffee in Otley!

I've visited here numerous times, whether that is to sit in and have a cake with a coffee or get a nice brownie after a long walk, and each time it has been a solid staple. I haven't visited since the latest lockdown restriction eased but Sift's Instagram is making me jealous of all the treats I'm missing!

My wife thoroughly enjoyed the peanut butter and jam crumble cake. My coffee and walnut cake was very nice. Coffee hot and the taste was excellent. Staff very friendly and efficient, even brought some water for our dog. Highly recommend.
