Sid and the Spoon in Mansfield

Stopped for a lovely tasty breakfast on a Wednesday morning. Surprisingly busy which I suspect reflects to popularity of the place. Good prompt and efficient service. All helped by being able to sit outside in the lovely weather. Surprisingly good for the area

My wife and I came witu our 9 mo th old. Excellent food. Fantastic service. We will definitely be returning! A really nice place to come.

Can a couple of weeks ago for breakfast and it was fantastic so we decided to bring the family for a Saturday treat. Quite disappointed this time maybe there where staffing issues? the lady that seated us was very friendly and went out of her way to find us a table inside, the food and drinks where quite average today, all our coffees where just warm, my husband's breakfast came with cheap wholemeal sliced bread and a scrap of sourdough for toast instead of the sourdough on the menu, the waitress just simply said "we have ran out you have a bit underneath your egg", I had a full English not sure if they had ran out of there usual items but the sausage was like a cheap freezer sausage, the beans tasted cheap almost like aluminium and the mushroom was missing completely no sauces offered felt that the serving staff could not cope with how busy you where, we received no check back and could not get anyone's attention as it was so busy. We will probably try again in the future but it was quite disappointing this time.

Amazing as always. Deffo my go to place. Normally at lunch would just have a panini as I know I like them but had the salmon this time and it didn’t disappoint, huge portion and tasted amazing. Will definitely be ordering again.

I visited today with 2 of my friends as keep being told about the sid and the spoon , i got to say wow , what a gem . I had the chinese special and let me tell you it was insane , love that sweet and sour sauce and the twist on the chicken, very tasty. Will defo be back (ps. Is the chef single 😉 )

All food that we have bought from Sid and the Spoon has been exceptional. Fantastic home made meals with loads of flavour and lots of it on your plateful. Only negative is how dissicult it is to get a seat in it as it's so popular. Great atmosphere in a little place. Always look forward to eating there and never a dissappointment.

Fantastic service, amazing food and puddings. Small but intimate and homely. Perfect for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. Want to try more of the menu as what I’ve had so far has been spectacular.

Fabulous breakfast, huge bowl of porridge with fruit for him. And for me eggs Benedict which was absolutely stunning, ( a huge portion) this was our first breakfast here and we will certainly be back.

I went in with the sole purpose of trying the Malaysian curry and was not disappointed. The flavours were unreal and everything tasted so fresh. The onion bhajis were not listed in the menu but were the absolute highlight of the meal. I can honestly say I've never had a better bhaji. A lovely lunch in a lovely setting

We popped in for a midafternoon lunch and couldn't be happier. We were welcomed on arrival and introduced to a large array of specials on a black board. The menu separate to that provided in all a great choice to suit all. The coffee was nice and well made. I had the salmon, spinnach and saute potatoes in a creamy bacon a pea sauce and my sister had the pork and stuffing ciabatta with duck fat roasties and a little side of gravy. Both were absolutely delicious and well presented. Portions were perfect for lunch too. We had a glass of house white to accompany with was also lovely. Nice friendly service on top means I'll be back as soon as I get the chance. Thanks so much to everyone who was there to make put visit so pleasurable.

I'll start with the bad first, Sausage was bland, i suspect regular pork sausage from a freezer bag, and not sure how to describe the has brown, certainly had a unique taste to it. Service was fine, and the atmosphere inside was very pleasant. The is very hard to find, as there is no actual signage around, its tucked behind the shop on Portland street. The entrance is actually on the Star pub car park.

We’ve been meaning to visit for ages. Arrived at lunch time and didn’t expect it to be so busy. Waited about 20 mins and then got our table. The cafe isn’t big and most of it is in a conservatory type area, very light with lots of doors to open when the weather permits. We, at first, found it a bit noisy with all the chatter, then as people left it became quieter, I’m sure in good weather this isn’t a problem. To the food. Excellent and somewhat unusual choices on offer. WOW. Absolutely gorgeous food. I’m not going on about it, but it’s great sized portions and tastes fantastic. We are so impressed, we’re visiting again next week. To the staff. Outstanding, we were waiting outside a short while and were offered a complimentary drink. That really demonstrates how much they care. Cakes…. Blooming delish. I really can’t speak highly enough of this small establishment. It really is superb.

Went to visit family in Mansfield and sick of going to boring carverys and microwave pub food.. So took my gran here and glad we did. Good busy vibe which was a good sign. Got seated pretty quick but could tell they were really busy. I don't mind waiting and we had a drink anyway, my gran got a little inpatient though. The food was amazing, one of the best burgers I've had and the brownie was gooey chocolate heaven and not dry one bit, the ice cream parlour is nice touch too. The staff were so attentive and friendly and advised when best times to come. Will definitely be back when visiting family again

Excellent food, good portions, imaginative menu and excellent staff in a well decorated building with good outdoor areas.

Quick pit stop for coffee and cakes. The carrot cake was so light and tasty, the cream egg brownie was good too. Friendly staff as always - made a fuss of my little boy - thanks see you again soon

We attended for lunch as a treat for my mum. Menu had lots of choices and they provided some gluten free options for my mum ie. Gf bread but this was limited. Food was lovely tho with good portion sizes.

Lovely little place to eat, nice atmosphere, great, friendly service and a menu with plenty of choice. The food was delicious, fresh and with great portion sizes. Our first visit and I'm sure not our last. A real gem.

I had the eggs Benedict with halloumi which was delicious! The staff were friendly and the portion sizes generous, will be going back for cake!

I visited with my friend. We had quiche and beef stew and dumplings. The portions are a great size. The selection on offer was very good, ranging from lighter meals to more substantial. I have eaten the cakes here before and they are good size and wonderful quality. The staff are attentive and quick to serve and sometimes move people around so everyone can be seated which I think makes perfect sense. It is not a big place so you may have to wait a short while at busy times but it is worth the wait!! Would recommend to everyone that enjoys good food as a reasonable price.

Take the trouble to search out Sid and the Spoon. This is a hidden place but well worth the visit. They serve breakfasts, lunches, lots of cakes and goodies and it's also licenced so if you wish you can enjoy a beer or a glass of wine with your food.

Lovely lunch. Friendly staff. Cakes are super yummy and fresh. You really need to bring the card payment back. No one cares cash anymore. Our business would close if we did cash only. Card machines are so easy and cheap to have put in. If I had of had cash in my purse I would of just gone somewhere else. The staff was sending people down the road to a cash point it was a good 10 mins walk away.

Been here once before and had a lovely afternoon tea sat outside in the sun and thoroughly enjoyed it. Always busy but never had a problem getting a table and parking is absolutely fantastic just next to the cafe in the adjoining car park

I absolutely love Sid and the spoon!! Everything from coffee and cake to a lovely lunch, they can facilitate it all! I have never had a bad meal here and it is very reasonably priced! Bear with trying to find the car park, as it isn’t overly obvious, BUT definitely worth the search!! A complete hidden gem.

Just back from a coffee date with my work friends. Not the first time we've been here and won't be the last.

Went to this place on a Sunday afternoon for a baby shower. We had a beautiful afternoon tea with sandwiches, cakes and scones in addition to potato skins, potato salad, sausages and sausage rolls served with tea in china cups and saucers. You could also purchase wine, various flavoured gins and cocktails. The food was delicious and the service excellent. The staff are very friendly and well trained. What a lovely place this is and so good that you can hire it for a private function.

Been here twice for breakfast and the food was excellent and well presented. Nice atmosphere and good service.

We went here for breakfast it was really busy but they still looked after us and we were seated and served in no time would highly recommended the breakfast steak 😋

I absolutely love this place, only down side is the side of the restaurant inside during cold seasons. I always worry about not being able to get a seat however in the summer you are able to sit both outside and in. The food and drinks are so nice I would 100% go everyday if I could. The staff are so friendly especially Julie.

We called here for breakfast on our way home from a break at Sherwood pines, wow !!lovely greeting at the door we had eggs benedict and eggs royale with 2x lattes absolutely yummy had a cheeky glance at other orders coming out all looked lovely,reasonably priced also ,we will be visiting again next time we visit the area . If you are looking for this gem and are not local it’s not well signed from the road ,so just look for the star pub and park on that car park and your there ignore your sat nav it may tell you to go left !! Well worth a visit xxx

Busy little cafe with a lovely atmosphere tucked away behind a car park - needs some signage please from the road! Despite trying to find it, once there had a delicious breakfast stack which was hot, fresh and reasonably priced. Will definitely be returning to support a local business.

Lovely first visit at lunchtime today with 3 family members. We all had various panini which were really good. Lovely and clean and the staff were friendly and efficient .....we will be back.

Went for a very late lunch with husband after a meeting. Both had the steak, mushroom, pepper and cheese baguette served with salad and coleslaw. Absolutely delicious. Staff really friendly and efficient and the place has a nice atmosphere - log fire burning and Christmas decorations up. This place never disappoints! If you haven't been yet you're definitely missing out.

Was told about Sid & Spoon by a friend so was in town and we decided just to pop in, supposedly just for coffee but we decided on having Panini’s 1 with bacon,Brie & cranberry and the other with chicken. My daughter had chocolate cake. All 3 dishes where excellent and will definitely be coming back and recommending you to friends and family.

Went here today for lunch with a friend. I had the steak baguette which was absolutely delicious. The steak had been cooked to perfection, cut into pieces, mixed with mushroom, onions, peppers and topped with melted cheese then put into a baguette. Served with coleslaw and side salad. It was so tasty and really filling. My friend had the goats cheese, beetroot and walnut salad with a side of wedges. She said it was really delicious and would entice her back again! The steak baguette was a new addition to the menu and a great addition it was! We will be back.

My wife and my got to place for breakfast or lunch. Nice decor, great menu which is always updating. You pay for the quality but happy to do so, staff are friendly and will bend over backwards to help

We arranged my mum's 90th birthday at Sid and the Spoon and what a wonderful afternoon it was. The service from beginning to end was amazing and the staff couldn't do enough for us. The food was lovely with an excellent selection of sandwiches and cakes and a constant supply of tea and coffee. Thank you for making my mum's birthday an extra special one.

I visited with my friend and her daughter for a lunch date. It was quite busy and a constant flow of customers. I arrived first and was greeted, told to find a table and shown the chalkboard menu on the wall. We all sat for a few minutes deciding what to order and trying to find a drinks menu, which is only on a board behind the counter.

My daughter took me here today for lunch, but I wasn't impressed with the customer service or general experience.

This is one of the best experiences I can remember the menus were on a chalk board WOW what a selection we were a party of 8 and every one was delited with what they ordered the service was perfect. I will be visiting again in th very near future WHAT A GEM of a bistro

I have been there many times with my husband for breakfast which is perfect. Also with my family for lunch ,the teas look amazing definitely recommend to anyone .

I met a friend for breakfast. I had scrambled eggs on sour dough toast. It was the best I have ever had. When the eggs came out they were a little more undercooked than I normally would have liked but every mouthful was a pleasure. I look forward to visiting again. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. The chef even came out to discuss the gluten-free options with my friend.

I have been here many times and would recommend to anyone whether it be for coffee, breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea. You won't be disappointd. Went here just for coffee and cake today with a friend. We both had a fruit scone which was served warm. It was delicious. There is always a lovely welcome and the service is excellent.

I had the pancakes but wanted poached eggs and hollandaise sauce on them - no problem at all for the kitchen staff. Great latte. Poached eggs were runny. Plenty of hollandaise sauce. Lovely.

We visited this delightful place for my daughter in laws baby shower. We were made extremely welcome with a table set up beautifully decorated. The food was freshly made so allergies and preferences were certainly not a problem. Although the choices make it hard to choose. The drinks options are varied and with soya milk available, we were more than happy. I have to admit the decision on the cake to have with our chosen drink was not so easy. This hidden gem must be tried

Came here today for breakfast with my other half, the staff were extremely friendly and attentive, the food was amazing I had the slimmers breakfast which was really filling and my other half had pancakes, the staff went the extra mile to check if we needed any extras and to help with dietary requirements.

Only visited once but it certainly won't be my last. The food was amazing and the prices are great too. Lovely cosy eating area really bright. Staff very friendly. We did have a bit of a wait but they was very busy. The homemade cakes are to die for, I really can't wait to return

I was taken to Sid and the Spoon by my daughter for a cream tea. On arrival the coffee shop was very busy, but this was not a problem for the efficient owner. We were re -assured that we would not have to wait long as there were three tables to be allocated before us.

My best friend bought me here for brunch and it was fab. It's a little hidden gem and it doesn't disappoint! The staff are so welcoming and bubbly and ready to help with anything you need. The place is decorated beautifully with a wood burner inside making it super cosy and is very quaint with an outdoor area for the summer.

Such a lovely place to eat, I’ve been for breakfast twice now and the food is delicious, with a great selection of dishes. It’s very quaint cosy inside with the log burner on and the staff are all so friendly!

Called in for my second visit. First visit with two others had the afternoon tea, lovely and freshly made sandwiches all good. Lovely staff, nice clean tables and cosy atmosphere. However today two of us called for lunch, the ploughmans was fine, but the quiche salad and wedges were poor. The quiche had a very high pastry to filling ratio and it wasn't good pastry. The salad greens were stalky and I actually choked on them. And the potato wedges tasted like yesterday's jackets warmed up, but they were overcooked and burnt as well, and they tasted horrible. So very disappointed, as with two coffees the bill was close to £20. And I left most of mine as it was inedible.

Me and the Wife went to Sid and The Spoon today for some lunch, the decor is spot on and the food and drink is even better. Would totally recomend anyone to go here for food it was amazing.

Had a lovely afternoon tea, we have visited before but this was my first afternoon tea here. The staff we very friendly and checked our table, they even apologised for the delay - the place was full to bursting and I don’t think we waited that long! Free tea refills with the afternoon tea which not all places offer - nice touch! We were offered bags for leftovers too! Lovely place - see you again soon

The atmosphere at this place is really warm and friendly. There is a lovely log burner to keep it cosy and the place is spotlessly clean. This is the first time I have had lunch. I have been several times before for breakfast, afternoon tea and the christmas stack. Today I had bacon, brie and cranberry panini which came with a lovely dressed salad and homemade coleslaw. It was delicious. People on the next table had quiche and salad served with homemade wedges which looked amazing. I would have no hesitation in recommending this place to anyone. If you don't visit this place you will seriously be missing out.

We found this place on Instagram and it’s like discovery of the year! Atmosphere there is really warm, people so nice and food.. omg! The best pouched eggs I have ever eaten! Genuinely recommend this place to everyone!

Very welcoming and nicely presented place. We had a breakfast and was very happy with the food and service. The menu covers all tastes and we saw specials were being put on the board for the lunchtime trade. Prices are average for area and I thought good value.
