Extremely impressive. Ambitious menu that will have something for everyone. Bento, katsu, ramen, sushi, poke. We got two ramens and every part of the dish was delicious and good quality. They also have a dedicated sushi chef. Prices were very reasonable. Lovely ambiance inside. Definitely recommend you visit.

Absolutely amazing! I was sad when I moved area that I would no longer have a place for good food, honestly this place has wiped the table with my past favourite. I got a mix sushi set planning to take some home but I couldn't put it down it was so beautifully done and tasting that I could cry. The woman who served us was so polite and understanding with my wheelchair

The food was very nice with a lot of variety, however the non alcoholic drink variety can do with some improvement. Other than that, the atmosphere was very real and felt like it would be in a genuine Japanese restaurant.

Had pork udon with a side of white rice. Proper thick udon noodles and the veg and meat was cooked to perfection. Boiled egg on top is a nice touch. Was delicious definitely recommend. This was my first order will definitely order again.

The food here is amazing! We went for the katsu chicken curry, Japanese beef curry and some California rolls. It was our 1st time of trying this restaurant and we were very impressed with the flavours that it gave us. The beef curry was honestly the best curry we've had, the rice was lovely and sticky and the beef was so tender. The katsu was juicy with a nice portion of the curry sauce and the sushi was freshly made and super tasty. Service was super quick, only marked down on atmosphere as we was the only people there. This place should be full every night as the prices are very reasonable and the food is honestly 1 of the best in Tamworth at the moment.

I witnessed the creation of a dish so striking, so beautiful, that I was left in awe. I felt compelled to share my impressions, because what I saw wasn’t just food preparation — it was pure art. The chef behind the counter worked with such precision, grace, and dedication that it felt like he was pouring his soul into every detail. The atmosphere was serene, almost ceremonial — quiet, focused, and full of intention. The platter was arranged on two levels: the lower level featured a stunning variety of sushi and rolls, each with vibrant colors and textures, while the upper tier showcased perfectly sliced sashimi — a crown of fresh fish laid over green leaves and delicately accented with parsley. The colors — bright orange from the salmon, deep red from the tuna, soft pink from the shrimp, golden yellow, and vibrant greens — came together in perfect harmony, like a living painting. The entire arrangement was framed by decorative branches with blossoms, evoking the feeling of a Japanese garden. A bamboo blind, gently lifted, added an intimate, almost theatrical touch — as if a stage was being revealed to present something sacred. It wasn’t just a visual pleasure — it stirred something deep inside me. You could see this wasn’t made by routine or habit, but by someone with a deep sensitivity to beauty, to balance, and to meaning. This wasn’t just food — it was a form of reverence, of inspiration, of artistic expression through taste, form, and ritual. If you love detail, authenticity, and heartfelt creativity — just witnessing the making of such a dish is enough to make you feel respect. For me, it was a moment of pure admiration.

Been here twice now and the food is exceptional, so delicious, really filling and so much better value than other Japanese restaurants, especially restaurants starting with a 'W'. The Tonkotsu Ramen is exceptional, really hearty flavour profile, perfectly chewy noodles, succulent pork. The staff are really friendly and helpful, l highly recommend the cocktails Pompom Purin and Kerropi Sour as that's what we had and they were delicious. Second time being there, would definitely go back, 100% worth it.

When I tell you this is the best sushi I have EVER had I am not lying! So fresh and so tasty and delivered within 30 mins! Amazing 🤩

This place might be one of the best Japanese I might ever eat at. This place's atmosphere makes me feel like I'm in real Japan, which is amazing. The food itself is nice as well, taking me into an imaginary world of Japan. Shokudo deserves my 5 stars, a true beauty of Tamworth.

Ramen is good, but chef needs to work on pork, its too tough, Japanese serve it soft to the extent it almost melts in mouth( first hand rxperience). Happy with overall flavours.

Found this place about a month ago and have been going back weekly ever since (even if it’s to get a takeout). Massive foodies and absolutely love the food and friendliness of the staff. They remembered our order after just ONE visit! Definitely a hidden gem! Worth a visit!

Not the best… far from it Wouldn’t go back… tea was great, wasn’t proper Japanese…. Sushi rolls were not fresh had a dollop of sriracha mayo on top… chicken was a slimy fat stick

Perfectly good service, food not so good. Spicy edamame was just doused in sriracha sauce and the chicken skewers were mostly fat. Noodle dish was tasty and the jasmine tea nice too

I went to this Japanese restaurant recently and was really impressed. The food was absolutely spot on – fresh, full of flavour, and nicely presented without being over the top. The sushi was delicious, and the noodles had loads of depth – proper comfort food. The atmosphere was relaxed, and the staff were friendly and helpful without being too in-your-face. It’s the kind of place that works equally well for a low-key dinner or a nice meal out with friends. All in all, a great experience – I’ll definitely be going back.

The services was excellent and some of the food was ok. Good - tuna maki Average - gyoza and miso soup Bad - katsu curry was bland and the soba noodles were overcooked and weren’t balanced in flavour The mains really let this place down and they’re such a big part of the whole experience. Would stick with the sushi if we ever go back.

We visited Shokudo on a Friday evening after Snow Dome shenanigans. My daughter loved the afforably priced chicken karage bento box and ebi nigiri. I enjoyed delicious sushi rolls, a crisp, refreshing draught pint of Asahi, and okinomiyaki skewers. We all appreciated the delightful atmosphere and decor, coupled with friendly service. A gem in Tamworth!

Great ramen. Prepared and sent fast. 1 bit of feedback iss that I very nearly didn't order because the restaurant sells no drinks. I was in the mood for ramen so went ahead but I feel some drinks to choose from would be an improvement.

Upon entering I was greeted by an extremely polite lady whom led us to our table , clean , beautiful surroundings , friendly people and customers with in . We were given plenty of time to look at the menu and was politely asked when we were ready to order , the food arrived quickly , presented well and was hot , extremely reasonable prices for the portion sizes and food tasted great , I'm usually extremely fussy with my food but this was literally near perfect

The salmon was expired, the rice was not cooked on the day. It was not worth the money. Only the driver was on time

As soon as you step in Shokudo Japanese Kitchen and Sushi bar you are instantly hit with the beautiful aroma of oreiental spices and the calming traditional music of Japan allowing your eyes and mind to wonder around this beautiful restaurant . I began my meal with a five piece pork gyoza accompanied by a salty and savoury sauce. The soft and warm filling immediately fills you with a sense of comfort and warmth with flavours bursting into your mouth unleashing a feeling unlike anything you’ve ever felt before. For my main course I then had a pork bibimbap, this was the best meal I have consumed since being in Vietnam in the March of 2024. It was hot spicy savoury and the fresh veg alongside the hot sticky rice pork and fried egg was In my mind the perfect meal visit here!!!

Delivery time was good, sushi was really good, everything else was alright, just didn’t WOW us, which is what you expect at that price point

Lovely place and nice staff but the service was really slow, 90-100 mins for main dishes. Too many take away priority.

I've visited this restaurant quite a few times since it first opened, and the quality of the food is always of a high standard and the atmosphere is so peaceful. I recommend getting the Takoyaki if you haven't tried it before, it's always nice here.

We had the champon ramen, seafood yaki soba, and some starters. Very generous portions and lovely food. Staff were very friendly and prompt. Will be going again!
