Magnificent meal, delicious, so pleased we popped in last night, recommend the mixed pakora, we had the chicken and vegetable, lamb bhuna, the chicken jalandhri was outstanding along with the extra thin garlic naan and peshwari naan (this was our request), truly enjoyable. The manager and staff can’t do enough for their customers. Compliments to the chef. Definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for exceptional food, don’t be put off by the decor, it’s all about the food. We’ll back again very soon. Thanks Sharon & Paul.

Worst meal ever, chicken pakora dry and chewy, dipping sauce had no spice to it at all, chicken bhoona was more like a sweet and sour, weirdly tasted of artificial sweetener! Can of coke £3.25! And lastly how come on the main menu the lamb bhoona is £1 dearer than chicken but on the Groupon deal its £4.95 more expensive?

Used to visit this place when I lived in howwod years ago. Got a delivery last night was so looking forward to tasting the food again but am sorry to say it was awful 😖 korma chicken was hard and chewy. Nan bread tasted to be reheat ? Also tough to eat. Chips were actually ok. Panoramic was only just edible. I was hungry and ate what I could. Wish I hadn't as I was ill all through the night 😪 very dissapointed to say the least

My family had previously moved to Johnstone and were recommended Shimla Pinks. However, after only one meal, I can’t insist enough that this place be avoided at all costs. Pakora was bland and rough, food watered down and sauces watery and tasteless with the garlic mayo having visible MOULD in it. When taken back to the establishment, the multiple staff members I dealt with were quick and keen to dispose of the incident by binning the sauce and giving us a new one, no refund offered and horrendous customer service, just arrogance, defensiveness and outright rude manner. If you value your health or tastebuds then do NOT eat at this place. You’ve been warned… P.S - one star is too good for this place

If I could put negative stars I would. Five of us went last night to celebrate my birthday. We had purchased a Groupon deal for four people. Booked a table for five and only four places set, forgivable mistake. Menus were almost thrown at us, four Groupon menus and one a la carte. Waiter was awful, cheeky, arrogant and insulting. We ordered drinks, two buds and a bottle of wine for the rest of us. Wine was brought out in a cooler, no glasses, buds brought out with glasses. Waited fifteen minutes, asked three times for glasses Waiter told me to drink it out of the bottle as it " wouldn't be the first time", when a member of our party asked to speak to the manager, it all kicked off. We were thrown out. I have never been treated that way ever, and was so embarrassed. They clearly didn't like the fact we were using the Groupon vouchers. If that is the case then they shouldn't be part of it. Disgracefull 😕

Not value for money. Ordered a large mixed pakora which from any other Indian I've been too normally does two people as a starter. As well as the portion size being small the pakora was not particularly tasty either and the chicken was weirdly chewy. First and last visit.

Visited using voucher for Groupon. Establishment has been opened for roughly 3 years in this venue, old restaurant is roughly 5 minute walk away. Located across from the keystone pub. Given that we visited mid week , it wasn't the busiest, although we did witness lots of takeaways leaving the kitchen. The soundtrack was decent. The restaurant was clean as were the toilets. Limited interaction with servers, but we both enjoyed dinner. Pakora starter wasn't the biggest but nor was the price paid. Chicken tikka and dopiaza dishes were flavoured well. Clean plates are a testament to that. Naan cooked to perfection.

The guy with the light brown safari costume who runs this restaurant, should not be front of house. He is rude, ignorant and doesn't like taking Groupon diners, despite the fact he is selling them. He makes you feel awkward. The food isn't too bad, the restaurant is decorated ok, the rest of the staff are friendly enough. But the safari suit guy spoils it. We have been a few times, and we have taken family there. But this man's Basil Faulty attitude has led to our decision not to return.

Would not return !!! Me and my friends bought the Groupon deal for 4 adults at around £28. One of my friends were unable to make it so we thought we should just order her curry anyway and split between the 3 of us. Oh My Goddddd !!! What a mistake that was to even ask. The 1st waiter said unfortunately we are unable to do that, so I just questioned why as we had paid for this, he said the manager won't allow it and proceeded to go and get "the manager"!! The manager came over and spoke to us in the rudest, most disgusting manner I have ever heard. He basically pointed to the door and said if you don't like it, there's the door. He referred to us as "you Groupon people" and embarrassed us about asking for the curry we had paid for. He said the food provided was ample, suggesting we were being greedy and the voucher is far too cheap for what you get. This is certainly not the case. You get 4 bits of dried out pakora and 4 bits of dried out chicken in the curry ! We ordered 3 soft drinks which was a can of coke, half pint of fresh orange and lemonade and acan of diet coke for £9.75!!!! Outrageous!!! I would absolutely NOT recommend and will not be back ! Vile disgusting man the same as his food !

I received a groupon voucher as a gift for my birthday. I read some of the reviews on here before we went and started to worry a little. Boy was I wrong to worry! I genuinely think the other expected full Al a carte dining for the price they paid! Lovely starters and not to filling before a great curry! Folk mentioned the drinks being expensive, I'd just say it was regular that you'd expect in a restaurant! We ordered an extra nan bread as we had our 1 year old with us to let him munch on some but we'd be fine if we hadn't! The groupon deal is great value and you won't leave hungry! Avoid this place at all costs never have I met a owner of a buisness with an attitude towards his paying customers like I did tonight so basically we had the groupon deal which on paper seemed a fantastic deal at 18 quid for 2 people or you can buy a deal for 4 people up to a max of 6 people so I booked for 6 and I told son and partner to book their own as we could only get vouchers for 6 .when we arrived the owner came over and asked how many were dining we told them 8 people to which we were informed that we could only have a max of 6 on the voucher we said we already know this and that the other 2 people had bought their own voucher only to be told they could not use theirs as they only allow 6 from the same party to use one I again mentioned that the other 2 had their own voucher only to be told by the owner that if I didnt like the policy I know what to do and he pointed at the door I told him he was out of order to talk to a customer like that and that it was totally unprofessional and that I was embarrassed by him for talking to me like that in front of my family and to top it all off when we offered the waiter who looked after us a tip he told us there was no point giving it to him as the owner takes all the tips and also searches the staff to make sure they have not put them in their pocket to say I was disgusted by this is an understatement I will never step foot in this place again and urge all others to do the same

Booked a Groupon deal for 4 but 1 cancelled at the last minute (as we were sitting at the table) and as we had paid for 4 we asked for the 4 meals and was told very abruptly (while pointing at the front door) that under no circumstances could we get the 4 meals. He then on to tell us we would be getting very big portions so wouldn't need it anyway. Utter crap as the portion sizes were tiny. We understood the policy and had we had been told in a different manner we wouldn't have had an issue but it was the way the manager spoke to us that has made me never want to go back. The only reason I gave it a 1 star is because I can't leave a minus.

We purchased Groupon voucher for 17.99, a decent price I thought. Not the best of meals, 4bits of chicken pakora and a small bowl of sauce to share. Curry was ok, best bit was the nan bread. I get it's a deal to entice you in and hopefully rebook for the full menu. In my opinion don't. They must be the most expensive drinks I have ever paid for. 2 cans coke and small soda water and lime. £9.75, this is where they make their money, overall not a great experience. Certainly won't be back anytime soon.

We had a Groupon voucher deal. Now I thought the whole point of a Groupon deal was that it was to encourage you to come back to the place in future and pay full price. That won't be happening. We booked in advance, and I checked the voucher details before I went in. It includes two courses for 2, with rice and a naan to share. It said you can choose a starter priced from 5.95 and a main from 9.95. it gave suggestions of mushroom poori, and chicken Maharani. I love poori, and I knew before I went in, that's what I would order. When we entered, the man was serving a take away customer, asked if we were in for a takeaway or a sit in. He took us to our table and asked about drinks, I said to him then about the voucher. He brought us a special menu for this. There was no poori on the menu, so I asked for the main menu also, but it was mainly to see the description of the main courses, because I wasn't sure the flavours or spicyness of each of the dishes. I asked the waiter if I would be able to have a mushroom poori as this was £5.95 (according to the description of the voucher this would be included) but he said if I wanted this I would pay full price for it. I tried to say to him what the voucher said, but he said this is why we have a separate menu. I felt like saying to him to review what it said on the Groupon website. I ordered chicken pakora. This was 4 pieces or chicken. My partner ordered chicken tikka masala and I ordered chicken pasanda. When they came, they were identical in colour and flavour, they tasted exactly the same. The portions appeared to be much smaller than any Indian restaurant I've eaten in before. We both finished it, it wasn't filling, the pakora was nice enough but the main was fairly tasteless. The other waiter who took our plates was friendly. I wonder how different my experience would be if I hadn't purchased a Groupon deal. Even if the guy had not refused me the starter that was advertised on the voucher, maybe I wouldn't be writing this review just now. I have read other reviews about him commenting on Groupon customers saying they're getting it cheap, yes but the point is, it should be a full portion, not a smaller amount. 4 pieces of pakora for £5.95?? Also £3.25 for a can of cola, £5 for a pint of lager. Bit much for Johnstone. Does he think it's Glasgow city centre? He shouldn't be doing Groupon if he grudges people the food. We ended up having to go next door to the desert shop to have something to eat there, unheard of if you've eaten a full Indian meal.

Don't be fooled into buying a Groupon deal for this restaurant. Total con, they give you a manky paper menu to choose from, most of which are nothing like the description in the Groupon voucher. I questioned this, the rude water said, this is why we give you a specific menu. You could of course pay full price for any other starter not listed!! You don't get to read the description of all the dishes, it's just a list of food names. They give you small portions, we ordered pakora, 4 pieces on a plate with some onion and a tiny sliver of tomato. A shared dip. The main courses were pale and tasteless, identical to each other even though different dishes were ordered. The naan was the only nice thing. They compensate for the voucher by charging exorbitant prices for drinks. They must be looking to put off every person in the whole of the area by being mean with portions and giving rubbish customer service, rather than being very nice to people and giving an accurate representation of a full priced meal, so people may think of coming back. No wonder we were the only people there. The drinks came to £8.25, I had a can of coke, he had a lager. These are definitely prices you would expect to pay in the city centre. Not here. It put me off ever considering ordering a take away. I'll go back to Mirage in Paisley.

We ordered a delivery and because we know we can be tricky to find, we gave them detailed directions. Also asked them to ring if they got lost. Two hours later we got a call. Delivery girl had no instructions and had been looking for us for over an hour! We guided her to the door but food was cold. Despite one of the dishes being "mild and creamy with a hint of green chilli", it was way over spiced and inedible. First and last time for us.

My partner and I had a groupon voucher. We were seated in an almost empty room which was freezing even the staff had their jackets on. We were given dirty greasy peices of paper which was the set menu. Their set menu did not reflect the voucher deal. There was a £4 additional charge for chicken Tikka and £5 charge for lamb. May i add this was not indicated by groupon voucher. We both ordered chicken pakora. The starters came out almost immediately. It was Luke warm and portions included 4 small peices of chicken pakora each. I couldn't eat it because it was cold and gave mine to my partner. We both ordered chicken Tikka Masala. Now I am a person who has loved Indian food for years. What I was served was inedible. It was pale and pastey. There was a vile after taste as though I had eaten wall paper paste. It had the texture of grainy baby food. The rice was cold. Even if you wanted to eat it portions were tiny. Only redeemable factor the Nan looked nice but by that point I had to leave. This has been the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. Having a voucher your made to feel its ok for them to serve you terrible food. Do not buy a voucher for this place thinking you are getting a good deal don't do it. By the way waiter was walking about in his slippers and looked miserable. Only glad I ate nothing and would rather eat toast.

The guy kept asking if we're sure, trying to get out of providing what I paid for. The chicken tika tandoori was a big slab on the bone.. I have never in my life been served chicken tika tandoori on the bone! And not one mention in the menu that it's on the bone. Some people do not eat off the bone so this should be made clear on the menu! Portion sizes were laughable for the price. The food was all the same. Salty, covered in onions, bland. The nicest thing was the nan bread! Absolutely won't ever use this place again or recommend it. Maybe Shimla Pinks used to be good - but my experience was not good at all.

THE worst customer service I have ever experienced..quite shocking, to be honest! The waiter was so rude, arrogant in his manner and made us all feel uncomfortable...spoiled our evening! I asked him to describe a certain dish and was told it was peppers and myshrooms, which I ordered. It came with only potatoes.. and only one piece of green pepper..the size of a postage stamp!. I asked him to please change it and he grabbed it from the table and stormed off, complaining that I wanted it changed!...actually arguing with me at the table! Horrible man, who should not be in hospitality! The meal was fine but not the best! We were told that we should eat everything we had ordered, as they would not provide takeaway containers for leftovers! What? At the back of the restaurant, as you head to go upstairs to the toilets..there is the filthiest carpet, and the stairs leading to the toilets are dirty. Toilets themselves are also dirty with no hot water to wash your hands. Many other things not clean too. We were majorly overpriced for the extras and drinks too! We will never be back...overall a dreadful experience and not recommended!

We went here as a family 2 adults 2 teenagers for a birthday dinner very impressed right from the start the waiter took our order and starters arrived to the table quickly they were hot and so tasty we had chicken pakora and cauliflower pakora once we finished those the plates were cleared quickly and then our mains arrived we were all very happy with our meals they were tasty and fresh the rice was fluffy and light naan bread was also good and cut into portions which saves ripping it apart at the table Overall we had a fantastic meal the atmosphere and lighting were soft we felt comfortable Only complaint from the teenagers was the chairs were uncomfortable and my only complaint but it's so minor we I thought the music was a bit loud we were sitting right under the speaker so felt we had to yell but maybe that's just our age showing there We would highly recommend this restaurant if your after a good Indian meal in a pleasant atmosphere

Been here many times and loved it every time. Never been rushed never had a bad meal never left with an issue. Personally I like the more traditional curries and I do not eat meat so you’d think choice would be bad. It’s not. Looking...

Very disappointed with the delivery time of nearly 2 hours from the point the order was made online. In the event the food delivered was at best lukewarm. Manager not available until the next day from whom we were promised a call back. So far we have heard absolutely nothing and no apology. Unlikely to order from here again.

Food was good, service too. Price is reasonable, worth a visit. Only downfall was the poor quality seats. It would be a wise investment in some booths.

We ordered takeout- achari lamb and South Indian garlic chill prawns. Both were flavourful (and not swimming in oil as a recent meal from Shimla Cottage was). The nuance of the spices was evident and the fresh chilli and coriander added to the flavours. The...

Curry and tandoori chicken were far too salty to eat. Tried to save the curry by recooking with onion and extra veg, etc but still crazy salty. The nan and pakora are nice but we won't be back and will try other restaurants/takeaways.

Korma was ok but the chicken bhuna was so hot I could not even eat it! It was terrible. No tomato and just pure hot spice. Had to bin it so this was a total waste of money!

Food was extremely disappointing. Garlic on the garlic naan was burnt and inedible. Had to bin half the meal. Wouldn't go back unless there was a major improvement in the food quality.
