Shilton Fish Bar and Restaurant in Hinckley and Bosworth

The cob I got with my chips was covered with mould underneath. This is not acceptable and should have been checked first before giving to customers, they’re obviously not bothered what they serve and I won’t be returning!

Really poor quality food not fresh and over priced, lost my business for good. The chips were like they had been saved from lunch and reheated, no tasted and too hard.

We go here regularly manager always welcoming busy place but quick Service friendly staff we had mixed kebab & chips this time big portions

Food was absolutely awful large haddock for £9.50 was small than most chip shops mini fish Michu peas tasted like water what a waste of a £28 order all the food went straight in the bin avoid at all costs

Terrible. Food. Poorly cooked and when we complained and asked for a refund we were told no, that's how it is. See the photos for an example of a kofte kebab. No salad, or sauces. £6.50 for a pitta bread and a slice of burnt meat!!!!

We been this place often and everything was very very good. Fish and chips delicious. Pizza amazing.

Just had another fantastic delivery, food was lovely, hot and tasty. One of our favorite deliveries been using them for years and yet to be disappointed.

Came here with my husband whilst staying in the area, nice enough food, lovely curry sauce. Would eat here again if in the area.

Been going here for a while since moving up from London, the fish is fresh and very good value. The staff are great and we’ve never had a bad experience. If you are looking for a reliable chippy with good quality meals then give it a try, good to support the local shops, use them or loose them!!

Finally found a good place to get fish, chips and curry sauce like they do up north. I was starting to think that I was never going to get a decent fish and chips takeaway after moving to Leicestershire. So glad we found here. Huge portions though. One fish and chips would have done the both of us. I'll know for next time. Note, the bbq sauce isn't Chinese style, just regular bbq sauce.

Found this chip shop open at 10.30pm as the chip shop up the other end of the village was no longer frying. Very pleasant service. 6 mins wait and we had 5 large freshly cooked meals. Just what was needed after a very long day. We all had either fish or sausage and chips. Good sized portions and very tasty. Can recommend.

The cod is gorgeous and the chips are nice too but I just wished the chips were bigger and more of the big ones in a portion. Other than that £5.80 for cod and chips it s a local bargain!

If you like Dried up chips etc then this is a must ! I however do not . So would not use again. Every day is a school day & I learn Quickly .

Absolutely starving so I popped in here and got fish and chips and 2 battered sausages.....chips were awful...didnt eat the sausages gave them the dog ..they had hardly any batter on them all dried out ...not a very good experience ...the fish was nice though..as this was cooked fresh....but I feel I've wasted my money.....the woman was lovely who served me

We ordered some food from here and got it delivered. The chips were that dry they looked like they had been standing for a week. Absolutely disgusting. Never again.

The regular size of chips is enough to feed two easily. If you have the fish make shaw it's been well drained before it's wrapped.

I've never in my life had a delivery this bad, 90 mins wait and when the food arrived it was all burnt and/or cold. I called the restaurant and they were insisting all food was cooked fresh. It certainly did not arrive like that. It was probably cooked fresh 80 minutes beforehand as the shop is only a 5 min drive away. They outright refused to replace or refund. Awful food and worse service. There's plenty more options in Earl Shilton, do not choose this place.

Called in lunchtime for a kebab. The young lady acting as front of house was very helpful friendly, explaining that I would have quite a wait due to the lack of demand for kebabs at lunchtime. The staff cheerfully kept me entertained for nearly half an hour, I was in no rush..for once!! It was a joy to see my kebab created from start to finish. Nothing was too much trouble, I enjoyed people watching in the cafeteria area, this little gem serves the local community very well! The main thing about my excellent kebab was that I was given the choice to have it served freshly into my pitta bread and not given a shed load of silly pots and cartons. Albeit the lovely lady server stated some people prefer their kebabs this way. The MAIN secret to this outstanding kebab was that my doner meat was carved off the main joint and griddled on the hot plate along with my chicken meat...sublime!! Sorry Desford Chip Shop, it's dry,rubbery and unappetising! These guy's have nailed it!!

been to this chip shop a few times with in the last six months. every time the food has been spot on, fish is fresh and cooked to order, the chips are beautiful and the staff are lovely. compared to other places in the area this place is a must. it is so under rated as people rave about an other chip shop in the area but dont be fooled. this place is best

Not a regular eatery for a take out but the haddock was amazing. Always pleasant staff, sit in area too.

Hot tasty food, ordered via app, arrived on time, all cooked perfectly no soggy chips! Highly recommend them and definitely be using them again

Have never let us down. Quality chips every time. Staff have always been fine, cannot understand other reviews.

First of all, I think it's really important to point out the friendliness of all staff in this establishment. However, this is not a friendship meeting point or help the aged... it is in fact a restaurant for hungry people and I was very much disappointed with their soggy, limp and shrivelled chips.

Every time I've been I the staff have been rude, grumpy and uninterested in what they are doing.

Love the chips from this place . Very generous portions and really fresh chips. Hurry up with the refurb as the chips elsewhere are not filling the gap. And the guys here are always very friendly. They understand customer care which is not always prominent in the chip shop world.

When you walk in you see happy chatty staff and people eating cheerily. The food is okay they do it in rather large portions though and the chips are dry . Apart from that great chippy

A feast fit for a weary traveller. A large haddock, freshly made with chips and a steaming hot cuppa, all very reasonably priced. Would not hesitate to recommend this (and we did) fabulous little cafe.
