Ran by some lovely people and best customer service too. The chips are the best I have tasted in years.

Got a burger and chips, everything fresh and piping hot, the chips lovely golden brown, crunchy outside, soft and fluffy inside, impressed

The cob I got with my chips was covered with mould underneath. This is not acceptable and should have been checked first before giving to customers, they’re obviously not bothered what they serve and I won’t be returning!

Used many times in the past. But this time wasn't good. Mushy peas were off, sour.. chips appeared old..not fresh. Pie had been kept hot for along time as bottom pastry was hard and crispy...been standing a while. Staff very friendly such a shame food wasn't usual standard.

Don't order a medium pizza as the size is a small 9 inch rip off never order from them again

Only have chips if you eat here, this was 9yrs ago so want to update my review. Good service food always hot even when being delivered would recommend.

Really poor quality food not fresh and over priced, lost my business for good. The chips were like they had been saved from lunch and reheated, no tasted and too hard.

Order my takeaway took just over an hour to get here how they get away with serving chips that a brown and look like they have been sat under the heat lamp all afternoon

Shocking service with rude staff, my order took nearly 1 hour to arrive in the end I have to go there at nearly 11pm the food was dreadful and not edible what a waste of money and time! I wouldn’t complain as they simply don’t care… I essentially paid nearly £25 on a few cans of pop 😂

Food was absolutely awful large haddock for £9.50 was small than most chip shops mini fish Michu peas tasted like water what a waste of a £28 order all the food went straight in the bin avoid at all costs

Don't bother with these amateurs. Accepted my order only to then over an hour later cancel it as they had no drivers. Disgusting customer service don't deserve your money. They aren't even cheap

Excellent fish and chips and great to have a chip shop that you can sit in and eat.

Terrible. Food. Poorly cooked and when we complained and asked for a refund we were told no, that's how it is. See the photos for an example of a kofte kebab. No salad, or sauces. £6.50 for a pitta bread and a slice of burnt meat!!!!

Just had another fantastic delivery, food was lovely, hot and tasty. One of our favorite deliveries been using them for years and yet to be disappointed.

Discussing attitude towards myself after ordering 2 extra large pizzas. Gave me 3 different prices and delivery drivers attitude was disgusting aswell. I was called a d*ckh*ad over the phone aswell after putting in a complaint and bringing up these issues to the person on the phone who claimed to be the manager. Its OK all calls are recorded my end. Will not be ordering from this place again

This is our local, there are a couple chip shops in Earl Shilton but personally I feel this one is the best!! Staff are always friendly and smiling and the food is always perfect and doesn’t cost the earth! Will continue to have chippy night from here

I always collect my takeaway. Fish is usually cooked to order and is delicious. Chips normally wonderful but can be variable in quality. Overall very satisfied.

Was the worst meal of my life, delivery man never knocked on the door he just left it there. Food was stone cold. Wrap was soggy and my milkshake was spilt all in the bag. Blue cheese sauce tasted like sick and the garlic Mayo was overpowered with garlic giving me heartburn and indigestion with a horrible after taste. We order pineapple fritters for pudding and they said it came with syrup, there was no syrup it was wrapped in paper and was dry with no taste. Was a waste of money and I will never order from there again. If you want a decent meal go to Ali Baba’s at least you get what you ask for.

We have just had fish and chips and couldn't eat the fish as the oil quite clearly needs changing. Wasn't good at all!

Delivery took 2 hours to get to newbold verdon (10 min drive) as "the Delivery driver didn't show up" & food arrived burnt, usually a very nice place hence 2 stars not 1

It was the best chippy when I first came to the area, but anytime you get fish delivered, they send the skankiest fish all the time, but the guys in the back are brilliant, if I went in to complain, they would give you more food for free, that's how they are

Nice place for something to eat especially since they have tables and chairs that I find rarely in chip shops these days they generally have a good variety of food and are well priced the staff are always chatty and nice my only complaint would be it looks very old fashioned but not in a good way doesn't put me off but it might some people

Been going here for a while since moving up from London, the fish is fresh and very good value. The staff are great and we’ve never had a bad experience. If you are looking for a reliable chippy with good quality meals then give it a try, good to support the local shops, use them or loose them!!

Found this chip shop open at 10.30pm as the chip shop up the other end of the village was no longer frying. Very pleasant service. 6 mins wait and we had 5 large freshly cooked meals. Just what was needed after a very long day. We all had either fish or sausage and chips. Good sized portions and very tasty. Can recommend.

I don’t know where to start!! For the second time my order has been delivered missing a whole meal. After calling to correct it, it was still missing a part of the meal. Hair was found in my cold chips and my partners redelivered kebab meat. After my partner found the hair, he refused to eat the food so I called to complain and was met with the rudest person I’ve ever had the misfortune to talk to. I told the lady on the phone about the hair that was found in the food and she replied with it can’t be I wear gloves 🤦‍♀️ She proceeded to tell me that she prepared all the food fresh herself, therefore she refused to believe we had hair in our food! She told me next time if we place the order by phone she will give some kind of discount. I told her I didn’t think there would be a next time and consequently she hung up the phone. she was rude, unhelpful and obviously has a lack of hygiene around food. If I could give this place a zero star I definitely would!

Awful chips over cooked fried chicken burnt wouldn't recommend and wont be returning

The cod is gorgeous and the chips are nice too but I just wished the chips were bigger and more of the big ones in a portion. Other than that £5.80 for cod and chips it s a local bargain!

Absolutely starving so I popped in here and got fish and chips and 2 battered sausages.....chips were awful...didnt eat the sausages gave them the dog ..they had hardly any batter on them all dried out ...not a very good experience ...the fish was nice though..as this was cooked fresh....but I feel I've wasted my money.....the woman was lovely who served me

The fish and chips was cooked just nicely. Short wait for the fish but then it was freshly cooked. They also serve kebabs and pizzas but I can't eat everything in one go!

Looking at other comments, let me just state that I have eaten in this establishment many times, and NOT ONCE have I had greasy chips, as complained about by one malcontent. Truth to tell ... the fish has always been utterly delicious, and very fresh; the batter is incredibly light and crispy; and I can say with hand-on-heart that I have had no better or tastier fish at any other sit-in fried-fish establishment. The price is very reasonable; the staff invariably friendly; the coffee is okay, not brilliant; the place has always been spotlessly clean. I cannot really rate it highly enough. I have paid a great deal more in rather upmarket restaurants and had fish that was not a patch on that sold here. I always have the sane order; the large haddock and chips. And it is invariably utterly delicious, and never, ever greasy.

Typical take away environment with seating for around 20 people, furniture a little tired but cleanliness at a high standard.The service was very efficient and friendly. The food well cooked, tasty and presented well. We asked for small changes to the menus which was absolutely no problem. Would recommend it anytime. Thank you for making us feel welcomed. The chips are minging/ mank they touch the food with their bare hands and I was almost sick after eating them, they don’t wear hair nets. Also by the time you get home the papers all soggy and the paper just peels away and the chips all go cold then. We have a tradition of having chips every new year and they were the worst we have ever had 😭 Can you put a zero as a star 🤮🤢 The chips taste like a brick 🧱

The regular size of chips is enough to feed two easily. If you have the fish make shaw it's been well drained before it's wrapped.

I've never in my life had a delivery this bad, 90 mins wait and when the food arrived it was all burnt and/or cold. I called the restaurant and they were insisting all food was cooked fresh. It certainly did not arrive like that. It was probably cooked fresh 80 minutes beforehand as the shop is only a 5 min drive away. They outright refused to replace or refund. Awful food and worse service. There's plenty more options in Earl Shilton, do not choose this place.

Ordered and specifically said what I wanted as toppings, got the order completely wrong. Tried to speak with them on the phone to arrange a redelivery but they weren’t having any of it and were very rude. Happened twice and won’t be going back again

Called in lunchtime for a kebab. The young lady acting as front of house was very helpful friendly, explaining that I would have quite a wait due to the lack of demand for kebabs at lunchtime. The staff cheerfully kept me entertained for nearly half an hour, I was in no rush..for once!! It was a joy to see my kebab created from start to finish. Nothing was too much trouble, I enjoyed people watching in the cafeteria area, this little gem serves the local community very well! The main thing about my excellent kebab was that I was given the choice to have it served freshly into my pitta bread and not given a shed load of silly pots and cartons. Albeit the lovely lady server stated some people prefer their kebabs this way. The MAIN secret to this outstanding kebab was that my doner meat was carved off the main joint and griddled on the hot plate along with my chicken meat...sublime!! Sorry Desford Chip Shop, it's dry,rubbery and unappetising! These guy's have nailed it!!

been to this chip shop a few times with in the last six months. every time the food has been spot on, fish is fresh and cooked to order, the chips are beautiful and the staff are lovely. compared to other places in the area this place is a must. it is so under rated as people rave about an other chip shop in the area but dont be fooled. this place is best

Tried it for the 1st time (6pm on a Sunday). Very dissapointed. The chips were overcooked VERY dry and chewy. The mushy peas were barely cooked and still had stalks in. My relatives tell me it's usually good so maybe i went at a bad day, but I'm not going back to find out.

Ordered though just eat and Shilton fishbar got the order wrong with wrong food wrong drink and to top it of because they ran out of an item they only gave me a half portion, then when I ran them they didn't care and the food was cold also the salad didn't taste or look fresh.

Half decent kebabs and burgers. Breakfasts are quite good too and its all reasonably priced. Nice friendly staff and inside its usually clean with a simple layout. Cheap and cheerful sums it up best.
