Walked in, fish x 3 all ready to buy. Usually anywhere else you have to wait while they cook it. Really friendly service and so quick. Chips were yummy, had a taster in the shop. Reasonably priced, will definitely go there again. Thank you

Food ok but the little owner is a stroppy little man. Grumpy snappy and quite frankly abrupt. Younger staff are fine as is his long suffering wife

Tonight not so good fish dried and pie over cooked and the chips weren't very hot unusual but disappointed

Poor customer service, very rude and abrupt (costs nothing to smile) Food very mediocre fish cake was all squashed up, wrapped it all together and didn’t check if I would like anything wrapping seperately. Chips tasted undercooked and actually cold which is something you never normally have with a chip shop so possibly makes me think they have been left cooked and under heat for a little too long. Won’t be using again will be going to groby where customer service and food is 10x better

Lovely fish bar, I had fish and chips, plenty of chips, and a lovely piece of fish. If you're in the area, well worth a try.

Popped in here as we were at a wedding nearby, the fish portions were huge and really lovely. To top it off, you didn't have to pay for ketchup!

Generally good but the chip portions can vary a bit. Quite expensive.

Fish piece had batter that was really tough; as if it had been under heat lamp for a long time. The pies and sausage also ordered were good. Service was also good.

We have been coming here for years and it’s always reliable. That means a lot, especially during these difficult times. The owner and staff are all so pleasant and helpful , hygiene standards seem excellent. Have started having the scampi which does have to be ordered as soon as you arrive, but tastes great.

Excellent food, well practiced in social isolation, good staff.

The owner always looks after me. We've both been to Rome. He is a lovely man.

Hi after waiting for Markfield fish bar to reopen it was great to have proper fish & chips its only 1 in 1 out so some times may have to wait only 4 people in front of me only took about 10 minutes but worth the wait they were red hot i really enjoyed them would recommend if passing by you wouldn't be disappointing 😀

Waited all this time for Markfield fish bar to reopen only to be very disappointed with our first fish and chips. Fish was a rubbish piece and the chips were almost cold and looked like they had been cooked an hour. Usually this place is perfect but not this time. Very poor. Maybe they should get the girls who usually serve back in because 1 in, 1 out is taking too long and so food is not fresh. Batter was not good either. Very thin and all came off when unwrapped.

The owner actually stayed to cook our order as was about to close at lunchtime so thank you and your fish and chips were good thank you

Local 'Chippy', where friendly staff serve great 'Fish and Chips' together with other typical fare .

I went there with my 94 year old son and bought chips. I had sausage and chips. He was jealous so i gave my son my big juicy sausage. He has a smile on his face and mayo covered the inside of his mouth. My chips had a toenail clipping in it which for me is good but for others they may not like it. This gave me a toenail addiction 2 years ago and i couldnt get enough of them. I would roam the streets asking for spare toenail clippings. If people said they didnt i would kidnap them and put them in my basement and pull there toenails off and eat them infront of them. Next came their fingers which i bit clean off. This would usually make them throw up which i kept in a bucket for when i was thirsty. I served 420 in prison when i got found out. I soon became the leader of the prison after eating everyones toes in their sleep. After i was let out i went back to markfield fish bar and reminisce on the good times. This place is a true spectacle and a real eye opener

Fresh food, piping hot. Not the cheapest but saves washing up. Id prefer the fish to be skinless.

We moved to Markfield from Uppingham Road area of Leicester. There was a well known chippy on the corner of Turner Road that everyone seemed to remark how great the chips were and the size of a fish resemble a shark. Well whatcha know that owner took over the markfield chippy.... Best chippy by far!!

I was staying for a couple of nights in a travelodge not far away, I googled take away's and this came up as the closest. I was there in five minutes, it was really easy to find, even though I'd never been to the area before and the staff were happy and friendly. The food was nice and reasonably priced.

I have sausage and chips. Sausage was good, chips were not very good. Staff were unfriendly. They do not take card payments. So cash only! I will not be going back.

Great place but hardly ever have cod! So not for us. We drive further a field just for cod. Its a shame because we would use more often.

5 mins off the m1 just north of Leicester. This is a top class local chippy. First visit tonight. Cod fresh. Chips really good. Nice staff, fast service.

Oh my God what a find !! Was passing by m1 boy wanted chips, stopped off here. The bloke couldn’t be more helpful if he tried, shared a portion of chips for my little ones too. The fish we had was the bestest tasting fish for many years. You really have to try this place out. Well Done mate and your good work has got you a genuine 5 stars 🌟

So... firstly the chip shop is very clean. The fish seams to be extremely fresh and very nice if I’m honest. I do think that the chip portions are also a good size.

Greatest fish and chips for miles

I’m a regular here twice a month . It’s a bright shop that’s spotlessly clean. The staff are always friendly and efficient. The Large fish is enough to feed 2 adults and is always very good. The large fish is haddock with the skin on - how I like it . I think the small fish is skinned. The batter is sometimes a little on the thick side for me. We are very lucky to have such a good chippy in the village .

Generous portions - we find the small fish is a better buy for us. We have been using this chippy since moving into the are 5 years ago and never had any cause to complain. Staff are friendly and cheerful.

Took a bit of punt on the way to Scout camp for some tea and i wasn't disappointed. The fish was huge and tasted lovely. The chips tasted delicious. The staff were warm and friendly. Definately going back there.

Friendly staff; they somehow worked out that my parents were regulars so rolled out the red carpet. As usual with village chippies the portions are huge. Thick white cod and crunchy chips.

We regularly travel 5 miles each way to this chip shop as it is consistently better than others in our area.

This Chip shop is worth travelling to and it's so obvious on a Friday(fish on a friday) as the queue is usually in the street! The place is absolutely spotless which is always a good first point. Louie the Chef is cooking continually cooking fresh food all the time you are there and the staff are always clean,cheerful and polite. They get to know individual customers and genuinely ask how you are when you go in. I have used this place for many years and have never ever had a bad meal. The whole village is devastated when they somettimes close for a family break and we have to travel to lesser chip shops so we are ALL delighted to see them back!

Very good food, nice variety. Staff always welcoming. Gets very, very busy on a Friday evening. Consistent quality, fish always of a good size making one a good sharer size for two.

The best chip shop for miles. It’s rated 5 star with the local council hygiene dept and is very clean. Food is delish and you can always rely on this business to be open.

Great village chippy, food always fresh. The owner and staff are extremely friendly and service is always good. The shop is always very clean and tidy 5 star hyigene rating. Can get a little busy at times but to be expected at peak times. Would recommend to anyone.

I often call in for fish and chips here; the owners are lovely. The shop is clean & inviting. The fish and chips are always fresh...not been lingering about for long periods or 'warmed up'...would definitely recommend to give them a try.

The chips are great, they use new potatoes that are cooked until golden. I have the Salad Pitta which is warmed through and you choose which salad bits you want and what sauce. Delish.

Este "fish and chips" es muy popular (el único por millas;) pero no la uso muy a menudo. Siempre que tengo algo de pasta me dan aquí con problemas de estómago. Pasta de otros chippys sin ningún problema. Otras quejas - muy caro y para un "fish and chips", weirldly cierran antes los bares - normalmente cerca de las 9.30! (de nuevo, sin competencia local). Claramente, sin obtener ganancias del comercio del pub.

Really good sized and well cooked fish in light batter, ditto the battered sausages, and probably the best chips I have eaten in a good few years.

Really good chips, that are never soggy and always taste fresh. The doner kebabs are lovely as well (far too tasty to be good for you).

lovely chips :) the chicken can sometimes be a bit dry but a tub of delicious curry sauce soon solves that, the kebabs are very nice (although the young lady forgot my sauce ;) )
