A real shame this has closed for good the food was great and the staff was so friendly it was the best on wilmslow road this restarant will be really missed

We’ve been going for nearly 30 years, eating and also ordering takeaway, food is consistently good and staff are friendly. Highly recommend, gutted to note they are currently closed, hope this is temporary x

Honestly don’t know where these bad reviews are coming from! My boyfriend and I (gay couple) were greeted with respect and a smile, seated with chairs pulled out, referred to as sir, served drinks instantly, were attended to & waited on perfectly, the food was delicious (2x chicken tikka masala, keema naan, pilau rice), and even though it was very spicy for my boyfriend (2/3 chilli rating), he still thoroughly enjoyed it. With 2 drinks and poppadom starter as well, £42 in total was decent value for money! Would recommend and revisit for sure, thank you!!

Food was very bad and tasteless

DO NOT EAT HERE! Shut this place down. Absolutely worst service I have ever received, I feel scammed and completely overcharged: £30 for poppadoms we didn’t ask for and then mandatory £10 service fee for terrible service. Shocked at the price, we normally never complain about prices and food quality but we were so irritated by our experience and the rude management, we have written a negative review for the first time. This terrible experience ruined our trip to Manchester completely. If I could give zero stars I would. Disgusting, the place was empty for a reason and we thought we would give it a try. Never again. Dirty cutlery, rude, overcharged, and very poor quality food. Scammed, this is an absolute scam and I have never experienced this before. Do not come here and make our same mistake. They make their money from scamming people, be careful what you order here and do not pay them before checking their secret hidden fees! This business should be shut down for the filthy way they run. Scammers.

Cuando llegamos al hombre detrás de la barra no era muy acogedor. , mientras estábamos mirando a través del menú obtuvimos algunos poppadoms pedimos pepinillo de lima, parecía enojado con esto como si no pudiera ser culo! Llegamos entonces a pedir un muy decepcionado! Llegamos allí y estaba emocionado de comer aquí como se recomendó. Me gusta el picante que él no conocía pero asumió, Y para colmo tenemos arroz con champiñones que era tan soso con champiñones ENLATADOS. Normalmente no escribo malas críticas, ya que a veces la gente tiene un día libre, pero la cantidad de problemas que tuvimos sentí que tenía que hacerlo. I visited this place today with my family at 8pm on sunday. We ordered our food and was given our jug of pepsi with lemon slices in. Once i poured it in my glass and my kids glasses. We noticed little black ants climbing up our glasses from the inside. We checked all our drinks it was in all of ours. We called out to the waiter and he knew straight away and apologised and gave us a new jug with drink in. My kids and I were very paranoid after this and refused to drink from there after this. We throughly checked the food , plates and tables for any other ants around. Safely to say no more ants in food but would not visit this place again.

Fuimos a Sher Khan un domingo por la noche alrededor de las 8 pm. Nos recibieron con una sonrisa y nos dieron popodoms hasta que llegó nuestra comida. Pedimos una jarra de pepsi que puede contener rodajas de limón. Una vez que lo vertimos en nuestros vasos para mí y mi familia. Nos dimos cuenta de hormigas negras dentro de nuestras gafas con se arrastraban hasta el cristal interior. Mis hijos lo notaron de inmediato. Le pedí al camarero que revisara la jarra y la pepsi. Sabía de inmediato lo que había pasado y se disculpó y nos dio nuevos vasos y una nueva jarra de bebida. Mis hijos se negaron a beber de allí y estaban muy paranoicos con la comida que se pedía.

4.3⭐. We are international travelers. Our British friend took us here to eat what he thought was the best Indian food in Manchester. This store is quite conspicuous, but the road outside feels a bit rough. There is a waiting room in the store, but I thought it was a bit strange. There were not many customers in the restaurant when we visited, but there were many seats and the space was quite large. We ordered appetizers and some dishes. The pancakes tasted like Taiwanese shrimp pancakes without the taste of shrimp, eaten with sauce. This was my second time eating Indian food (the first was at Yaatra in London) and the price was significantly cheaper, so we were quite satisfied. Maybe I'm not used to eating Indian rice, so it still feels a little weird, but I'm already more familiar with it. This place may be more like real Indian food, and the curry sauce is very rich. We ordered Bhuna lamb 🌶️🌶️ (Specially fried with a mix of Eastern spices to create a truly delicious medium curry.) The taste is quite rich and rich, the taste is heavy, the spiciness is medium, not too spicy, the lamb is tasty and chewy . There is also Dhansak chicken 🌶️ (garlic, pineapple and lentils and has a beautifully mild sweet and sour taste.) This curry has a relatively mild and refreshing taste, with the sweet and sour flavor of pineapple, and the chicken is delicious and moderately tender. Overall, it cost about 💰 £16 per person and we were very full. We even packed some unfinished food and went back. The toilet is on the second floor and comes with toilet paper. The waiter was funny and thought we were speaking Japanese. All in all, a great experience here! 20240801

Horrible, solía venir aquí todo el tiempo no ha sido por un tiempo y fue horrible. Los poppadoms estaban empapados de aceite. El pollo era muy duro. Las porciones son realmente pequeñas ahora y la factura es solo pedazos de papel con números. Los camareros se quedan mirándote comer porque no tienen nada más que hacer y hay tantas moscas por todas partes.

Personal muy agradable y servicio rápido. . . . Pero... la comida era un recalentamiento. El bhaji de entrada estaba bien, pero el main (chisporroteo Tikka) estaba muy mal condimentado y excepcionalmente seco. No impresionado. Naan para ser justo era deelish... Son lugares de orbes en La Milla así que ten curiosidad. Muy lejos de ser horrible, muy lejos... pero no necesitas esto con la competencia por todas partes

Horrible lugar, mal servicio, camareros malolientes horrible olor abrumador de BO, la comida no era buena, puri de gambas y tikka de gambas para empezar, puri era solo un desastre aceitoso, tikka de gambas era tan duro como el hierro, demasiado cocinado. Entonces los platos principales eran simplemente abrumadores. El lugar estaba casi vacío, pedí gambas korma, compré pollo. Ningún billete detallado tan seguro de que fuimos estafados, 90 libras esterlinas para 2 de nosotros era extorsivo por lo que tenemos, inaceptable hoy en día y la edad, merece ser cerrado

We visited Shere Khan's just over an hour ago and was very impressed with the service , atmosphere and food. Upon arriving we were immediately greeted by the lovely host, Abid, who ensured we didn't wait and delivered the most amazing customer service. He was very attentive and friendly which is a rarity nowadays. We ordered the grilled tikka starter, butter chicken and naan and absolutely loved the food- which was cooked to perfection After finishing the meal we used the toilets which were also very clean. From start to finish it was a lovely experience and we were very impressed with the service received as we had travelled from Birmingham and were looking for some delicious food to end the day. Thank you !

Second visit, second time we have been overcharged. The food is good and comparable to the other south Asian restaurants on wilmslow Rd. The main negative is the dodgy billing. Hand written, illegible bills without any itemisation and around a 15% overcharge. First time we were charged £10 extra, this time £8 extra. If you look on tripadvisor there are many similar experiences. When asking for the itemised bill, it took 4 attempts before an actual itemised bill was finally given. This makes me the staff were complicit in the scam. The food is good but the attitudes of staff when bringing up the discrepancy, they made, was poor. It was unusually empty for a Saturday night and I suspect this is why. Shere Khan's USP is their alcohol bar otherwise it is similar to the rest. The shoddy bill however makes it a complete no go in the future.

A group of 4 of made the mistake of going in here on a Sat night. Alarm bells should of rang when it was empty i think 2 tables were in.We were sat near the window probably to make it we look busy.trick..Poppadoms are served to your table before u even take your coat off,these you would presume would be complimentary but think again you get charged.2 of us had sizzling tikka lamb chops,1 mixed grill sizzler and a madras. and a Keema naan...The naan was dry as a bone inside and when you broke a piece off mincmeat was all over the table.we complained it was dry and the response was thats how we make them,,i have Keema naan regularly and thats the worse one ive been served.The food was not up to standards for the area and that place is living on its name only..when the bill came it was £117 but as previous reviews no itemised meals or drinks just a random piece of paper for 4 of us was a bit steep..Sat night i was up all night with stomach cramps and not off toilet as other reviews state. i found out Sun when 3 of us met we all had same issues and that continued through the day just toilet and cramps.Now 3 of us with same symptoms tells you something.2nd class meats. If this place is still open for buisness by end of year ill be surprised. It use to be rammed on Sat nights but not now..NEVER again will we or our friends we told be seen in there again 100%..Opposite was a Turkish restaurant and they were queing down the road.....So that tells you something..Shere Khan i think you've had your time.Just wish we'd read reviews prior...

I've been making an absolute pig 🐖 of myself here for decades, there's nothing not to like.

I originally ate here in 1987 when they first opened. Visited after what was probably a 15 year hiatus and Bashir still recognised me all these years later. Food was as great as it ever was. Next level compared to most in the are I live. Large mixed starters were PERFECT! Curries just as tasty as ever. Was so happy you are still there, serving families with fresh and vibrant indian food! FULL MARKS GUYS!

Avoid the Dhansak it's like a korma with a pineapple ring on the top. Nothing like any Dhansak I've had before. I thought because this was the curry mile, the food would be great, but it's definitely not great. And the chicken is frozen chicken like the stuff you can buy in Iceland. Worst Dhansak I've ever had.

I used to eat here while I was a student in Manchester back in early 90’s! Ate here again today! SO delicious! Amazing food, incredible Asian vibe, fair prices! Love it, back again tomorrow, can’t get enough!!!!

Hello everyone. Please do not eat from this restaurant it’s vile and disgusting lamb chops were so hard you may loose a tooth trying to bite it. This is a scam using the shere khan name. You will be disappointed with this shere khan it’s run like a back street takeaway no way near a franchise. Honestly I put this food as the worse I’ve ever tried and tried is all I did because after 2 bites I had enough.

Food was incredibly quick. Only 4 pieces of cheese in the saag and Rogsn josh was very unusual.

Rafiq the manager his no customer service a complete horrible person. He shouldnt even be allowed to work with customers. He was huffing and puffing at the questions giving dirty looks. His service was horrible wont be eating here again. The waiters where nice and talkative but rafiq is a proppa joke. management need to improve his own staff are not happy working under him.

Sensational place to eat. Expensive but all restaurants are these days. Best Indian restaurant by a mile.

They thought we were drunk foreigners and they tried to overcharge us for the drinks. After fighting over the drink bill, they still overcharged us £141 por 3 starter plates. They used the by hand non itemised bill. Average food. Avoid!

I ordered a Apple and Mango J20 with my food, and when it was delivered there was no J20! I phoned the restaurant and when I spoke to the lady, she basically blamed Just Eat for their error! When I order something I expect to receive what I ordered. An apology without passing the blame would of been nice

So far best Indian/Pakistani cuisine on wilmslow road. The restaurant is excellent from all perspectives. Food, taste, quality, cleanliness, hospitality and staff. My family wants to visit here again. Full marks.

Not great. I’d avoid. Couldn’t even answer question where they got there meat from so I could find out if it was hmc halal(not stunned). Repeated the question with more clarity that I needed to know whether the meat was stunned or not stunned by the butchers. Guy said ohh I wouldn’t know some place in Bradford. So I asked for a name so I could find out and guy mumbled something under his breath (no butchers name given). Apparently ‘ halal is halal’ and they sell alcohol too. But everything’s okay because ‘we the workers are all Muslim’.

Stay away from this place. There is a reason it was the only restaurant in Rusholm that was empty. We decided to go there as we were hungry and thought we will get served quickly. It took ages for the food to arrive. Food was average. Cokes were flat so brought new ones but still charged for flat ones. The bill arrived which was a piece of paper with the total written on it . No itemisation. We paid and left. We wondered why it was so high. After working it out ourselves. We think we were overcharged by about £80 plus £30 service charge which was redicolous. Will not go back.

Shocking please STAY AWAY. Food tasted purely of butter and salt. Starter, main, rice, naan and drinks for two cost NINETY POUNDS. Looks nice from the outside and service was friendly but i’d rather a Tesco ready-meal curry than what i was served in this restaurant.

Food amazing, good price. Only thing that let it down was one sever that was stood watching me drink and eat to grab the glasses and plates soon as i put them down. I'm guessing this was due to restaurant being empty but made me feel verry uncomfortable being watched eating.

A once famous restaurant with excellent food has submitted to mediocrity and a boring menu. Nothing to see here. Any other asian restaurant is just as good.

Honestly fell off. Prices increased, food quality and portion size greatly reduced. Was great at some point though.

Probably the best restaurant in rushholme

I asked for them to make it very hot. It was basically lamb in gravy with absolutely no spice or heat. A Korma from the supermarket would have been hotter. The delivery time was very good, but very disappointed about the lamb in gravy I wanted a hot curry.

The restaurant was almost completely empty at 9:30pm so were unsure if we missed the dinner time “rush” or it wasn’t a popular place. However, we were pleasantly satisfied with the food we good. I mean it wasn’t the best, but it was decent enough that I probably would go there again if I was in the area and wanted a curry.

Was there with my friends to celebrate my 10th-year wedding anniversary and I must confess we loved the food and enjoyed ourselves

Overall i would given 5 stars but the staff wouldnt let us eat in peace....the whole restaurant was empty with just 1 table made us feel uneasy and uncomfortable. I personally think the staff needs training. Overall food was okay 👍

I've tried the majority of indo cuisine on curry Mile (rushholme) . Yet Shere Khan has me coming back every time . The food is the best out of the rest . The service and staff always provide a warm welcome. The restraunt is spacious and clean. If you want a authentic proper food then come hear .

My nephew decided to come here as he used to come as a young man over 30 years ago . A lot had changed in all those years. But he still found the service to be excellent. Great service. Wasn't crowded & found a nice table to sit on. Ordered our meal, which was lovey. Reasonable prices for what we ordered. Would recommend with very friendly service if you want a lovely friends service you certainly get it here! Nice food, too!

First time visit sher khan with family..very disappointing..food is very bad no taste so much spicy biryani chicken karahi..Platter of tikka mutton chomps etc very lowest in taste hard to eat ..next never go..and above all expensive although food is not good...

Good tasty food at reasonable prices. Loads of dips with the popodoms. Service was quick and efficient although there were a few spills (other customers) Tandoori prawn starter very good, as was the lamb main. Called in tonight for a takeaway with my two sons. Placed the order and was ready very quickly and staff looked after the children and brought mints over whilst we waited. The butter chicken I ordered was amazing and also the Keema samosas. My son had Lamb Biryiani and also really enjoyed it. Best indian I have had in a while

Arrived on a Saturday night the place was nearly empty years ago you would have to wait for a table which should have been a warning. It had been a few years that I had been and I was really looking forward to the meal. I ordered the mixed grill and the lamb chops and chicken were dry and tough like they had been cooked previously. The chicken tikka pieces were hard at the corners and extremely dry. The table next to us were complaining about their food as well. I got home and I had severe stomach cramps and was sat on the toilet all night. Needless to say I will NOT be returning

Awful to be very honest. a 3 chilli dish was not as hot as a 1 chilli dish - work that one out. Shame really as service was good.

Worst ever experience of my life. Rude behaviour of staff, ordered chicken tikka handi, meat handi and chicken biryani which all were tasteless. While we were eating the waiter started cleaning the table and taking away dishes which was awful. Not recommended, waste of money.

Let's start with the positives. The food was good, though nothing out of the ordinary, and the serving staff were friendly and polite. We thoroughly enjoyed our food. The main problem, as others have mentioned, was a scrappily handwritten bill for the food and a series of little tickets stapled to it for the drinks. That made it virtually impossible to check the bill. It felt a little pricey and a service charge was automatically added because we were a group of six. You have to wonder, in this day and age, why the billing is done like that. Interestingly, for a Friday evening the place was virtually empty. Maybe it was just a quiet night, or maybe there are other reasons. We wouldn't go back. There's plenty more choice along the road.

The food was nice, but nothing out of the ordinary. Pleasant staff. Very unhappy with the presentation of the bill - it was handwritten and chaotic, on several bits of paper so it was impossible to check for accuracy. It was therefore difficult to dispute the bill, but it seemed expensive for what we'd had. Wouldn't rush back.

I order Salmon very disappointed the taste like cotton very dry and definitely it was frozen fish. Taste was horrible. They changed my dish with prawns but that one actually was chunky prawns which I didn’t like the tastes. Overall do not go to Indian restaurants for sea food. They are not expert.

Fantastic food and service. Definitely one of the best Asian food places I've been to. Tried quite a few different dishes and liked all of them. Service was also good, friendly staff.

It must be now thirty years or so that I have been patronizing this establishment and it never ceases to impress. The food is sublime and that is the main attraction. The service is attentive and warm and friendly from the bosses down to the waiting staff. Iconic dining, as usual!!

Disappointing. Thought to give a try and did not live to expectations. Service is okish and attended to. Food however was poor. The male waiter just dumped the food on table and dod not say what was what until we called him back. Poppadoms not fresh… stale… THE BILL… its hand written and you cannot read and the fact that add ons are made is wrong. Check your bill fully and ask it be itemised . SK needs to be clear on the bill… dont try it! Food was not tasty and very different to a year prior… overall sorry but wont be attending again

5* as this was my girlfriend's favourite curry house at Uni. Nostalgia perhaps influences this review a little ;)

Ordered mix starter and shami kebab and 2 curries, food was ok shami kebab came out raw and smelt really funny, we sent back service was average not really worth the cost all in all

The food was good, the service was tired, and the bill was a complete mess....we couldn't check what we had actually ordered or received. I'm pretty sure we were overcharged and the bill wasn't added up correctly - but it was such a mess there was no way to really check.

CAUTION: the bill is handwritten and illegible. This means it is very difficult to identify items and prices. If you can't actually read the items on the bill you risk being overcharged. We strongly felt this happened to us. For our large group of 12 this meant it was almost impossible to split the bill. We paid anyway. The waiting staff were no help. All restaurants now have printed itemised and priced till receipts which correspond to prices on the menu...not at Shere Khan though! If you do eat here ENSURE YOU MAKE YOUR OWN RECORD OF THE ITEMS AND PRICES ORDERED. You can then check this against the handwritten bit of paper at the end of your meal and so minimise the risk of being incorrectly charged.

Lovely food and service! They even sang happy birthday to my brother! A lovely touch! Food was great and huge portions!

I am coeliac and was ill for days after eating here. Staff were extremely rude and dismissive, firstly saying that I would 'probably' be ok eating the poppadoms when I asked if they were gluten free. I then asked another member of staff about what food was gluten free and if there was any risk of cross contamination, and they told me to just read the allergens listed on the menu and then walked off. However the menu is confusingly mislabelled stating the rice contains gluten but the paratha (bread) doesn't. This is at complete odds with the sign on the wall saying to speak to a member of staff if you have allergies. I am shocked at the poor level of understanding of allergies and food intolerances at this restaurant and the complete lack of care which I believe could place people at serious risk. Service was also appallingly slow where we waited an hour and fifteen minutes for our food to arrive.

There were plenty of empty tables, as well as a large table of people that were eating. We were asked how many poppadoms we'd like, which were brought quickly. We waited over an hour for our mains to come. People around us who had arrived after us were given their food. When I complained, the waiter said, "we are busy," but they weren't ! The waiters went to tell the manager that customers were waiting over an hour for food. He shouted at them and caused a huge fuss, sending them to the kitchen to find out! Eventually, we got our food, lamb kharhi, chicken birihani and a garlic naan. The lamb was lovely and tender, but It was highly spiced and the garlic naan was very disappointing as it had garlic butter spread over it that hadn't melted in. The young waiting staff were friendly which is more than can be said about the management.

Slow service, Wrong Orders and Cold food. Don’t worry though, they will charge a fairly high price for all that.

Just came back from Antalya and had a lot of kebabs and bland food and needed a nice curry. Came to this place with the Mrs ordered a chicken tikka biryani and a lamb daal. Have to say it was fantastic and made me realise how much I love my curries

Everything was good but we felt very watched and the waiters keeped asking every 5 minutes if we're OK, was a very awkward atmosphere
