Lovely restaurant. Food was great, full of flavour. Good selection of vegetarian and vegan options, waiting staff were knowledgeable about what breads/rice's and sundries could be made vegan.

Absolutely stunning food which has become our benchmark for all other comparisons. Honestly, feels Michelin star. Quality is superb and the flavours are exceptional. Would highly recommend for dining in and don't let the lower star reviews who are complaining about delivery times, put you off experiencing this fabulous Indian restaurant in person. We'll be back!

We have been on a 3-week-trip around Scotland and tried many different Indian restaurants. This was one of the best and we ordered there twice. The take-away meal deals are good value for money and we liked that they have a mix and match meal deal too where you can choose any 2 curries + 2 rice + 1 naan + Pakora + Poppadoms for 25 pounds. The curries are very tasty and my favourite was the La-Jawab. I wish we had stayed longer in the area and could have tried more curries from the huge menu. Only the Naan was too thick and fluffy for my taste, I prefer it when it is thinner. I wish they were open also for lunch or a little bit earlier in the afternoon. Also it would be great if you could choose your starter (like Samosas or Garlic Mushrooms) in the mix and match deal so it is easier to try more different meals. Unfortunately, we could not order online as we did not have a UK phone number which is mandatory. Anyway, the food was really good and staff very nice, I strongly recommend this restaurant!

Discovered the Sher-E-Bangla in Montrose yesterday - absolutely B A N G I N G - as well as the "mock meat" options they have lots of veggie side dishes (if mock meat isn't your thing), forgot to take pics of our starters - poppadoms, onion chutney (very moreish) and onion bhaji with 3 sauces. The mock meat was cubed, "chicken"-style, soya-based stuff, nice texture and flavour. 10/10 would recommend, absolutely over the moon to have discovered this.

Visited with friends. Charming staff, couldn't do enough. Food delicious & selection on menu superb. Even do a 4pm-7pm 3 course special, which is fantastic value for money.

Delivered within the hour, all meals ordered were hot and very tasty. Would recommend if in the area

Ordered a takeaway from here tonight at 6.20pm was told it would be an hour and ten minute. Still wasn’t here by 8pm to be told it would be another half an hour. Absolutely ridiculous. The girl on the phone was lovely and was very apologetic even though it’s not her fault. Have ordered from here before and never been an issue but definitely won’t order again.

Had the chicken bhuna and it matched or beat every curry that I've had. Simply delicious.

Superb food, quite unusual, large menu, huge prawns, amazing Peshwari naan. Good touches like not trying to push extra food on us, which is then wasted. Pleasant, attentive staff but not pushy. Hot plates, food all arrived together, no long waits despite a roaring takeaway trade. Reasonably priced food and drinks. Great Kingfisher beer on draught. Poppadoms were soggy due to a broken heater - no quibble apology and removed from our bill. My only complaint would be the bright lights - I do have light sensitivity, but it's also not very romantic!

Fabulous food, thoroughly reccomend

I had the special biriyani which comes with a mushroom sauce. It tasted amazing and ill definitely get it again but it was a tad expensive for the quantity you get but worth the money in my opinion. Staff were all great, doing their jobs quickly and efficiently.

Sher E Bangla take out is always outstanding. You may pay a couple of pounds more for a main than from other places but it is well worth it. Their chilli pop starters are a favourite.

Not bad at all for authentic indian food in Montrose. It will cost you slightly more than your usual meal since indian food are full of spices and flavour, but it comes with big portion and you will be full.

Great deal with 3 course early evening meal. Take away would be more expensive now

Food was reasonable, however, having to wait an hour and 40 minutes to be served is not on!

The food tastes great but unfortunately delivery times seem to be getting later and later. Today, I ordered food at 17.05 and it didn't arrive until 19.10 which is just unacceptable when their website said it was going to be 45 minutes. We phoned a couple of times (once at the half hour lateness, and once after an hour) just to be told that our food was on the way both times. When the food arrived, it was cold. During the second phone call, they did say phone us back if it's cold and we'll send a replacement, but it didn't seem worth doing that late on in the evening so we didn't bother. The driver didn't apologise on delivery and when we phoned to complain, it felt as if we were an inconvenience rather than a customer. Unfortunately, we will not be rushing back which is a shame considering the food is generally really tasty.

We ordered from here for the first time tonight through JustEat as I had credit to use from my work. The delivery was twenty minimum late, but the lady who took my call when I phoned was very polite and helpful. I must admit, with being late, I was expecting that to taint me enjoyment of the food, but absolutely no chance! We ordered the mix and match deal. The chicken pakora was lovely, lighter batter than usual and very flavoursome. As well as the usual sauce there was also garlic sauce. My garlic garam masala was honestly the best I’ve ever had and my husband thoroughly enjoyed his Passanda. We never usually manage to finish Indian takeaways or meals but our plates were left spotless tonight!! Thank you! We’ll definitely be ordering again!

Disappointed with the small portions, curry tasted ok but was missing something.

I Visit family in montrose often, we ordered last year and was ok , ordered again this year for xmas day was really disappointed small portions of tiny pieces of chicken , both nan breads were soggy with the filling falling out of the pesrshwan nan when you picked it up, obviously been in the bag to long hence delivery 45 minutes late not a patch on indians restaurants in Glasgow (even the not so good ones) on quantity and quality, probably because a small town of people with little choice and there only choice,

Brilliant. We are a family of 5 and get a takeaway delivered from the Sher e Bangla once every 4 or 5 weeks. We went for a sit in meal tonight and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere. The staff are really helpful and attentive and we met the waiter who I think is the joint owner, very nice man. The food is authentic and the taste is incredible. It was packed full, so shows that they do an excellent job. They deserve to get on well and we wish them all the best Thank you, Angus & Co

Visiting for work from Manchester and called in here based on the good reviews - food was really tasty and nicely cooked , the girls serving were attentive and friendly.....Extremely good prices too - especially the draught beer which is usually pricey in restaurants !!!!

Ordered food online only to wait for 2 hrs and told there was a mixup ,really poor service ,no phone calls to inform us of error’s.do not use their delivery service if you want any food from this restaurant.my advice is don’t use this restaurant and go somewhere else .

Best Indian restaurant in Montrose

Brilliant service and delicious food, love this place, would definitely visit again.

Unfortunately this is the best Indian restaurant I have ever been in I had the chicken Garlic Garham masala with garlic naan, Jim had the lamb jalfrezi we couldn't finish it as the portion size was very large (should have gotten a doggy bag ;) ) the food and the services was perfect I just wish it was closer to my house lol I live on the west coast and its on the east coast but will be eating here again the next time we are over that way,. the meat and the veg (peppers onions etc) were very fresh and not over cooked the peppers had a nice "bite" to them

Lovely meal this week and very good value. The tandoori salmon was lovely!

This is my second visit here. To start with I ordered on line. I had the meal for one which the menu says choose any traditional curry. Online I only had a choice of three. When I got the curry I realised it was the same orange colour that my jalfrezi had been on my last order. In fact it was the same colour as the tandoori tikka masala, the vindaloo and even the sauce that came with my wife’s tandoori chicken. In fact it tasted the same with a few subtle heat differences and the odd different veg. I am not saying it wasn’t a nice flavour however it didn’t seem like a curry to me. The matter paneer, sag aloo and tandoori chicken were very good. With naan breads rice and popadoms included in the base price the price was reasonable. Worth visiting once or twice but you would soon get bored of the same base sauce for each dish.

We walked past here the first time (as inexperienced Indian eaters) because it looked very empty on a Monday evening. We went inside anyway, it looked super neat and we had a delicious, extensive meal there, which we had difficulty finishing. The staff was very helpful and friendly!

If I could leave zero stars I would. Lost the order so no food arriving before 9pm. Ordered at 7 !!! Refund takes 24 hours. Edit: paid Friday still no money back on Sunday. Down £30 No money no food. Just back after after a break so last of cash used which I cannot access now to get something else. Unacceptable, unprofessional. Appalling. Shame as food was always good. Clearly don’t care

With lot of expectations for Indian food, We visited 'Sher-e-Bangla' restaurant, which is located on High St, Montrose, United Kingdom. I asked waiter for the best curry they have. So, he suggested to taste 'Sylhety shatkora and Naga chilli bhuna'. We ordered both curries. Though they call it as Indian restaurant and the food as Indian, it is absolutely not. As an Indian and tourist, I am very much sure about the taste of Indian food. I am very sorry to say that Curries don't have real indian taste, It might have Bangladeshi touch. The curries in this restaurant had the taste of boiled vegetables, also the proper combinations of spices was missing. The height is both the gravies was testing the same. If the best curries have bad taste, you can imagine the tastes of rest of the curries. Also I heard alot about Garlic naan from locals. But again we disappointed with It's taste. Most of the portion of naan was unroasted and no sufficient garlic content. All in all, the most of the names of curries and dishes are indian but taste is not really indian. These might be having Bangladeshi flavours. Awful experience. The real indian food is delicious, mouth-watering and each curry has it's distinct taste. I would not recommended this restaurant to anyone who likes Indian food. This restaurant is for those who don't have an exposure to Indian food or don't have options for spicy / hot curries. I hope for improvement in tastes. Thank you.

Very disappointed with our first visit here. No poppodoms given as most Indian restaurants give upon arriving. Starter took 20 mins to arrive. Kept getting told, mains were coming. We were on the verge of leaving, so asked one last time. It took approx 50 minutes to arrive after finishing starter. Priority was being given to people ordering takeaways which is very wrong!!! Food was nice, however the experience has put me off from going back or recommending this place to anyone else. No apology from management nor a discount for the inconvenience - due to being kept waiting. Needless to say, I certainly will not be going back.

Came here as visitors to the area and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. One was a little spicier than expected but staff soon helped out with additional yoghurt!

Chef's special masala is a dish that is unique to that restaurant , with out a shadow of a doubt the best Indian meal I have ever eaten ,if you are in Montrose don't miss this treat out

Decided to drive here from Brechin because the local restaurant was closed. Food was superb: green herb chicken really flavourful and possibly the best vegetable naan I've ever had. Everyone else at the table enjoyed theirs and the bill was very reasonable.

Fab food, colleagues were lovely, dinner was very filling and full of flavour.

The food was excellent. However the restaurant was very busy and service was delayed. The waiters were very polite and helpful but be careful of ordering mocktails because they charge the same amount without any alcohol added. My 10 year old son had two and I was informed afterwards they were full price and it was written on the drinks menu( which I had not noticed), and they would not reduce the price. I thought this was a shame and it left a bad taste in my mouth of the Sher-E-Bangla.

Lovely clean restaurant. Attentive and friendly staff. Menu was extensive and as a vegetarian was offered more choice than most Indian restaurants I have frequented. The meat lovers in the family were not disappointed either. The quantity and quality of the food was superb and made us all very happy. Highly recommended.

Impressed by quality of food in pleasant surroundings

Brilliant curry, and lovely service. I was dining alone and asked for a half portion of rice. They explained they cook portions to order at a regular quantity so I opted for the nan instead, which was one of the best I have ever had. When the curry was served they gave me a small bowl of pilau rice....lovely touch and very much appreciated. Well done...Great curry...Great service
