Great fish and chips! The best fish cakes too!

Lovely staff with big smiles.... Unfortunately the chips are very soggy and pale.... The roe I had was spot on... But unfortunately there was no salt and vinegar on my chips and they forgot my curry sauce.... So all in all.... Not too great for me. I had drove home by the time I had realized and that's 20 mins away....

First visit. There’s a queue which goes outside the shop by another twenty customers. Very large fish with chips and peas. Nice food, will return. Entertainment in the form of watching the bus (57) weave its way with no space to get between the parked cars because some people can’t park more than ten feet from the chippy door to walk.

Always excellent, never had a bad experience there.😋

Today was our 3rd time buying from this chip shop no problems the first or second time but today we were disappointed. My partner came into the shop just after opening time and the chips were dry and crispy clearly last nights warmed up. The fish cake was wrapped with the fish never asked to be separated. So half of fish batter came off and the bread cake wasn’t even wrapped was dry and barely any butter on it. Not happy

Best fish and chips in the north!! Hands down!! I got the haddock & chips and it was so fresh a delicious. The portions are very generous and the fish is huge! Prices are very fair also, and the staff are amazing. Lovely people and lovely food!

We have only visited this chippy twice as the others are not very good so we thought we'd give this one a try. Portions are very good and sausages were good however the chips were only just cooked and pale, would have liked them to have been cooked for a bit longer. Staff are friendly and service was quick though!. Unfortunately the chips just let it down.

Really good staff and usually really good product. Think they changed potatoe suppliers or something because when i went the other day the chips were not as good as they normally are. Everything else was up to usual standards.

Yesterday's food....at tomorrow's prices....today. Don't go 10 minutes after they open or you'll get yesterday's fish. There's no way it was freshly cooked prior to opening, I went 5-10 minutes after it opened. The fish was very dry and chewy and stale, it tasted like I bought it 2 days prior then heated it up again, worse fish I've had from a chip shop and the chips were equally stale and chewy. Oh, and the price? £4.60 for the fish and £2.00 for small chips? Had i wandered into an airport food court? Awful.

The best local chippy by far! Fish and chips are always lovley, never had a complaint! Staff are really friendly. You know a good chippy when there are queues outside!! 9 times out of 19 theres a queue outside for shellys!!

Chips were a tad anemic but fish was lovely.

If you like beef dripping they're probably fine, I didn't realise that until I'd paid and put them in my bag though, my fault I know. That said there was absolutely nothing ready on the hot counter.

We live very close by and tend to come here most Wednesday nights now as a tradition. Since this year, the service had become much more friendly which used to be an issue last year where I got quite an uncharismatic treatment, but alas this hath improved and I can certainly say the food here is of TOP QUALITY. Baie lekker!

Good value for money, the fish were gorgeous and the portions were massive, enjoyed every mouthful

Been there many times always a nice size piece of fish and delicious

Usually good fish, chips average, however, I went on a Thursday teatime and got the greasiest, greyest looking chips I've ever seen, disgusting. Obviously reheated from earlier in the day. None of it was freshly cooked and cost me £23. Won't be going again.

Since the start of lockdown, I've been working from home and with that came a new weekly family tradition of fish and chip Friday. The staff are always lovely and the food is fresh. There is also the option to preorder.

Everytime we have it, it's nice. The last time tho the chips could of been cooked a little longer but that's just my opinion. I like mine brown brown

Absolutely the best chippy in stocksbridge! I've had battered sausage chips scraps and curry on a few occasions over the last 2 weeks ( cravings lol) they have huge portions of chips (my partner had a chip butty with my chips and I was still full up ) generous scraps and it was gorgeous ! I'm just hooked lol ! Thankyou very much it's been appreciated big time !

The portion sizes are very small. Paid for a large and barely got anything for my money, my chips were cold and hard and I come in just as it opened so I thought they would be fresh. Will not be going again. Response to comment: I came into the shop on both occasions, not my girlfriend, however, we both ate it so we both gave a review.

I asked for a large and paid for a large, yet I had 12 chips and they'd wrapped 300 times so it looked bigger. The sausage tasted like it had been sat there for 7 days and I went half hour after opening. I threw up shortly after eating, normally is a good chip shop, quality has really gone down hill.

Usually a good chip shop, visited on the 14/03/2018 for tea not even a handful of chips for £1.50, usually more generous than that.
