From the start they set themselves for a failure, birthday party booked in advance for a family of 9+2 toddlers, when arrived table has not been set, chairs were sticky to touch and high chairs were dirty, on top of that we got only 3 menus for the whole group (asked twice to receive more) very unorganised as multiple waitresses came asking same questions one after another, when we got our food it was probably worse than a chippy, tempura in mushrooms was pure oil, nothing was fresh… when mains came we received more than we asked for, pizza for one of the kids had raw dough all around which was reported and honestly not solved, no discount or anything, chips were burned to crisp could hardly chew on them, the service got so bad after we mentioned the raw dough almost felt like we were being pushed out, asked for coffee we were told they only do black coffee because coffee bar is closed we all got up and started leaving. Honestly it was a really poor experience and I will definitely not recommend this restaurant to anybody.

This business has gaming machines where the money you drop in is pushed over an edge, which hopefully pushes existing money over a further drop, which you then win. However, when you win, your winnings go straight back into the machine. There are no signs warning that these machines are for entertainment purposes only.

3 hours for lunch. Queue for carvery was a mile long, worse than a school dinner queue. We were stood in it for more than 20 mins, outside the toilets too! Half our party had already finished eating by time we got back. Chef was not generous with the meat either. I got the fringed ends of the beef and ham portion was tiny. Custard was cold as was the soup.Very short staffed, they tried their best but were under pressure. Had to go to the bar 4 times as there was little to no service. In all, lunch took nearly 3 hours! This place needs to sort a separate queue for people there only for takeaway lunches. People sat in the restaurant had to wait forever due to this. Really not good enough. Very disappointing experience.Won't be back.

Me and my partner went here a couple of weeks back, food was great and service was great. Spring roll starter was lovely. But we went back this evening and unfortunately weren’t left feeling as happy this time. The place way completely over booked. We ordered our food and then waited an hour for it to arrive. I had a burger but there was so much cheese on it, and the cheese was not melted. My partner had a big sirloin steak and it was mediocre. I sent my burger back but by this point I was not hungry. A blonde lady took my burger and she was very rude about it. But luckily there was a lovely waitress called Alison who got me something else and she was very pleasant and apologetic about the situation. I then ordered a brownie for desert which was on the house. The brownie was nice. Luckily made up for the terrible burger. We would go back here when it’s not as busy.

We took our 3 kids ages 2,6 & 10 here today and they all loved every second of it. The 2 year old played happily in the toddler area where there are plenty of toys to keep them happy. The older 2 ran off when we got in and only came back over an hour later for a drink. The centre has a bar and restaurant areas where you can get tea/coffee/juice and small snacks or you can also get dinner which we did. We went to the carvery and I must say the food was so good and there was plenty of it too. Staff were all very helpful and friendly. Overall a great place and we will definitely return

Went to cheeky monkeys on 22nd September for a child’s birthday party. I read the post about the diarrhoea incident but I decided to give cheeky monkeys another go (hoping they would have thoroughly cleaned the vicinity). I was wrong. The toilets were the worst I’ve seen. How are children in their socks meant to use the toilet if there is urine all over the floor. No toilet roll. Dried poop on the toilet seat. Went back to the toilet 45mins later and nobody cleaned the bathroom. Absolutely disgusting and will never be back again. Was always a filthy place but seems to be going downhill!

Booked the VR for a kids birthday and what a complete waste of money. Machines constantly froze and certain games didnt work. Brought it up to staff and they said they were not aware - even though we had to call them in 5 or 6 times to reset the machines. Wife spoke to supervisor/manager that night on the phone who claimed the kids had got 75mins on the VR machines. Strange considering they were sitting down to food less than 50mins after beginning their session. Wont return

Drove up from Dublin to meet friends from Belfast. Two families meeting. Thought it was an ideal location for families as kids could avail of play centre. Food was good but... A musician started to play at 6pm... oh our ears... he was too loud. Obscenely loud! We couldn’t hear wait staff. They couldn’t hear us. We couldn’t hear each other! Couple with a baby in restaurant were holding their ears. A toddler at next table was distressed and holding her ears. Men were crying. We all have a migraine now.

I eat out quite regularly, and having seen some of the trip advisors for the sheepsbridge after a family game of bowling I was sceptical of stopping for food. How wrong could I have been! Definitely take the time to stop in and try the food for yourself. We took a run up on Friday night for something different for our 2 boys to go bowling. We went up the back then for food and it was lovely! Busy with obviously a few locals and decor was up for a 70th birthday party. The young girl that was waiting was impeccably well mannered. Given my son has additional needs took all his wee requests on board and even went downstairs to get my other little boy a milkshake he wanted. The food arrived in really nice time, the steak was actually out of this world. I cannot remember the last time I had a steak as nice. Well seasoned and cooked to perfection! My husband had his well done and said it was still juicy and filled with flavour. Nothing was any bother at all. The champ and sauce with the steaks were well seasoned and really tasty. All in all we can't wait to come back, travelled from Kilkeel and will be a regular for us now and I have been telling everyone what a great feed and experience we had. Decor is a little dated but not something that would bother me in the slightest. A must try for anyone that enjoys a great bite to eat at a reasonable price. 👍

Booked in for evening meal. We were in a large party of people. Food was very reasonably priced and when it came it was tasty. Burgers looked good. Had the chicken curry and it was tasty and well portioned. Unfortunately there were issues with the food actually coming which stopped it getting 5 stars. Starters were delayed for some of the party and others had finished theirs others had even arrived. Some of the main courses were incorrect when ordered. Staff are friendly and were apologetic however the correct food arriving at the same time would give this place 5 stars

Huge portions and dinner was lovely and reasonably priced. Went into cheeky monkeys after, got reduced rate as we ate in restaurant. It was manic, kids and adults everywhere, parties everywhere. Huge area and the kids had a ball, and we had a nice adult conversation. The climbing wall was a huge hit, but the bells at the top are very loud. Its very large play area. We went with family to a birthday party for my wee niece, it all started of great we went in and the kids went to play and when it came the food part thats when it fell apart(literally) my 2 yaer was sitting on a wee red chair and it wasnt screwed into base so when he leaned back he fell of banging his head. There was one meal short, we told the lad who was working and he was happy to help but one child having to wait while everyone else eats is not good. Then while all the kids finished we had the hassle of keeping them in the party room (15 min) as we had to go looking for a member of staff to take cake in. I would still recommend this place as staff was friendly and very keen to help just had to go looking for them.

Went on a family night out to bowling alley. Very dark at the entrance and on going through front door there was a very bad foul smell. Staff friendly on inital meeting but as the evening wore on they became very unhelpful. Every round we played we had to approach staff to reset lanes or update scores it was ridiculous. At no time did the staff offer to compensate us in anyway for the total inconvenience. There must be little or no maintenance to this place an the floors and seating looked very grubby. I did speak to a member of staff again on the way out to inform her of my dissatisfaction and she wasn't interested in listening. Never be back - terrible to think of this facility close to where we live but would much rather travel to Lisburn to get a much better facility and staff who are interested.

We took out little ones to the play centre. Cheap entrance fee, a lot cheaper than its competitors. As you walk in it looks amazing. Bright colours, music, children running happily about. On closer inspection it's tired and has seen better days. The cafe area is dark and dingy, the staff could do with learning some customer service skills. A welcoming smile would help. The food left a lot to be desired and was expensive. No real children's menu which I found odd as its a children's play centre. Although lots of unhealthy options like, crisps, fizzy drink and chocolate!! The soft play area for baby's and toddlers was full of older children running around knocking over smaller kids. Staff not interested in what's going on at all. Baby/toddler area quite dirty too, foodstuff littered in various areas and my kids knelt in chocolate at least I hope it was that!!Toilet facilities are very tired and dated also.

Extremely bad customer service as they made one of us clean up a spillage on the floor that we had made by accident, which he watched one of the drinks spill as I was carrying down 4 drinks. Not even a bit of help was offered as he seen me struggle down to the table. In addition to that we Arrived at 9pm and got told we couldn't have 2 games as "they'll probably close at 10" even though they're suppose to be opened until 11pm so we were left very disappointed as we could only have 1 game. Also the man had serious lack of health and safety knowledge risking the endangerment of people's lives as when I cleaned the spillage, the floor was still a bit wet and he didn't bother putting a 'wet floor' sign down, endangering people's lives. As well as that, at 9:50pm when we were nearly finished our game, the man started to brush the floor, brushing the bowling lane beside us and slightly getting in the way of the lane we were playing it. This made us loss concentration and we were so frustrated because he was so rude by getting in our way and didn't even apologise. We were just 2 couples that visited for a great night of bowling, but our visit was very disappointing because of one male member of staff.

Booked the bowling for an hour but when we arrived was told we could only have 30 mins and would have to check back after the first 30mins to get the second part. booking had been taken down wrong. It worked out ok as we got the second 30 mins no problem but we had to go to the staff at least 5 times in the hour as the pins would not set up right so this was a bit annoying. Seems everytime we go there is a problem with the lane. The girl on the desk was very pleasant and apologetic. The real fun started when we went into the restaurant for a bite to eat. i honestly do not know how they are still open. Worse staff ever. Not pleasant at all. Ordered our food when the girl brought the cutlery down she spilled my daughters drink, my knife had dried food on it and when i lifted it she just turned it round the other way so you could not see the food on it! Had to ask her for a clean knife. Ordered a jug of dilute which sat on the end of the bar for at least 10 mins while the waitress talked away to the bar man. They completely messed up the order of the table of a couple next to us. They take the orders without writing anything down which is how mistakes are made. The food was not too bad. The complex is getting very run down. It is badly in need of a coat of paint and cleaned as its very dirty looking. The seats in the bowling are ripped and covered with Duct Tape. The restuarant staff badly need training. I was a waitress and if I had of been as surly as the girls in the bar I would have been sacked! Will not be back. Would rather travel to Belfast for a game of bowls!

We haven't been to the Sheepbridge for years and had heard some good reports so thought that we'd give it a try. It's a few miles outside Newry on the old Belfast Road and requires you to turn off the dual carriageway. You can see it clearly from the carriageway as there is an adjoining unfinished construction which might make you think it was closed. It's a very minor detour worth making however. The four of us arrived and were warmly greeted. We ordered food which was promptly served while we all enjoyed a drink. My wife ordered a chicken salad which was as pretty in its volcanic looking presentation as it was excellent in its taste. The chicken was perfect and the dressings added such a beautiful taste. My mother-in-law ordered the chicken curry with both rice and chips. Again the presentation was exceptional. It was beautifully cooked and a woman who normally picks at her food left not a morsel. Trust me that's as good an endorsement any eatery could get. My daughter had the steak sandwich. She was presented with a full, perfectly cooked steak on a garlic ciabatta with perfectly cooked onions and mushrooms in just the right quantities. She had a side of garlic fries which were chunky, cooked to perfection and as appetising and as tasty as you could wish for. I had the beef fajitas. How can I put this- I travel the world on a regular basis and eat out in the best restaurants and I don't exaggerate when I say that my meal was up there with the tastiest and the best. I had garlic cheese fries as a side and the thought of them now as I type is making me want to head there now. I will be back. Yes, while that might sound like the food Terminator the Sherpbridge exceeded even my wildest expectations. Fiona, our server was warm and hospitable and attentive. I believe that the chef is a guy called Barry McAllister and trust me he is clearly top class.Next time you pass by drop in or plan a visit ( they have a family entertainment centre with bowling and laser tag etc) and you won't be disappointed. A gem on my doorstep!! Drinks and dinner- 60 pounds.

We arranged to meet extended family members here for lunch yesterday as we do regularly, we phoned in advance to see what time sunday carvery was served to and we were told 3.30pm. we arrived at 3pm and were told the food had ran out, and the kitchen would reopen at 4.30pm an hour and a half later we had a small baby so i ordered a baby bowl, small scoop of potato and gravy no veg as the veg available was brussel sprouts only. I was asked at the till for £3.95!!! when i queried the price i was told "oh sorry is that too dear- i havent a clue how much it costs" As we were in a large party we decided to wait until 4.30pm until the kitchen reopened, we ordered our food at 4.30pm not a minute earlier as the waitress refused to put our order in before hand despite us waiting so long to be served. Our food was served promptly we waited about 25 mins which i expected. The food was very average, side orders very small and very overpriced. We will return again but never for bar snacks and we will make sure we are very early to avoid missing carvery again which is usually pretty good.

We got married in newry and had been told that the sheepsbridge was a good venue. We visited and met with Shaunie and his team and discussed what we would like to have for the meal etc.On our second visit when we arrived in Newry we went back to check a few days before to ensure all was going to plan. We met with Alan who would be looking after our reception (we later discovered he was a wedding planner for most of the boyzone weddings), nothing was too much trouble, he went through all the original plans and made suggestions on how the day would be his responsibilty to make sure it all ran smoothly, as us as the bridge and groom shld we need anything to call him over and it would be done.Well the wedding day came and all the guests arrived up at the sheepsbridge. Very nicely decorated and the tables set out exactly as we had asked. We enjoyed a champagne reception and a rousing entrance arranged by Alan to welcome us into the area.Service began and all the staff being very professional and courteyous under Alan's watchful eye. We had home made vegetable soup for starters which was excellent, followed by what can only be described as the most delicious and soft roasted irish beef we had ever had along with the usual accompaniments. A medley of deserts followed.I could write much more about the sheepbridge, its staff, how brilliant they were and how amazing the food was. But I suggest you try it out yourself even if you arent getting married they serve food all year round. It was a perfect way to complete the wedding day and everyone including the locals commented on how excellent the food was, I even know some people went back the next day to sample other delights of the menu!!!To Alan, Shaunie and the rest of the team there, we wish you all the best and thankyou again for making our day special and complete

Myself & Family eat here regularly and love the food. Great selection theres something for everyone on the menu. Priced fairly and portion sizes are not to be complained about. Very busy establishment and the staff do there best to accomadate every need. Most sundays they have a band play, makes a relaxing atmosphere. Would highly recommend going anytime for food or sunday carvery. great offers for group nights out. £16.95 for 2 courses and a game of bowls.

Have been back afew times as it is a favourite place of one of our friends. Food isnt too bad, better than the first time, but if you want to eat within a reasonable time after ordering, go early on a Saturday night. The last time we got soup as a starter as our mains were delayed and the time before sorbet between entrée and main.so they do try. Prefer elsewhere however it is cheap and convenient.

I was looming forward to a meal with my family here and I was quite disappointed. It was the first time I had went and will not be back. There were 12 of us at a table - which was very squashed. The staff were rude, and made at least 3 mistakes with our orders and the bill, eg: only three of us got a dessert and they charged us for 13 desserts with there only even being 12 at the table! We asked to order a round of drinks with our food, only to be told "go up and get your own drinks like everyone else" from a member of staff. I was very disappointed because despite our experience we were told this was a great place.

Myself and my partner regularly visit the Sheepbridge for lunch. I have to say the staff are lovely, they really make you feel welcome and at home, Paula and the cheif bar man are especially welcoming. The food has always been perfect, and the portions are very generous. Weve also had a few parties here and they have always been completed to the highest standard. They often through in a DJ and some buffet food for free depending on numbers. Any problems or requests I had were met very quickly, granted it was a very very busy weekend, I understood there was time constraints. The prices are resonable so I dont understand why people would complain about them. Its just a pitty they never completed the building work, as they could have made a pretty good hotel out of it. Overall, I would recommend the Sheepbridge to anyone looking a lovely lunch, evening meal or party.

My husband and I eat at the sheepbridge regularly and everytime we go, should that be on days were functions are on or large sporting events on television or normal evenings, the food, service and staff are excellent. I would have no problem recommending the Sheepbridge as a fabulous steak house. This place is very family friendly but is also great for a romantic evening out. Cheeky Monkeys play house is next door and a large bowling alley is underneath. I know they do great value packages for bowling and dining as i have also booked my work nights out here in the past.I am coeliac and always have problems when ordering in restaurants except in the Sheepbridge.

The soft play area is huge but my two boys aged 2 and 5 seemed less interested in it than others they've been to. It's very reasonably priced and due to the size I was unable to see most of it so couldn't comment on it's constituent parts but it was a chore to keep the boys in there. This was maybe due to the large amount of distracting 'arcade' type machines and amusement type rides around the edge. These are £1 a go and so cost us a whole lot extra. Some of the rides are also more arcade type games and so unsuitable for a younger age group. The food in the cafe is good but is very pricey, £21.95 for a sirloin steak, I've paid less at salubrious restaurants. Fish & chips was £9.95 so not the cheapest and the drinks glasses are tiny. We decided then that the boys would be eating elsewhere. If I was looking for a soft play in the area I would look elsewhere next time.

Went there as recommended by a friend. They closed the upstairs restaurant and moved us to the bar downstairs. We ordered the mushroom starter, which came with a salad that was limp and brown. The steak was ok but have eaten better at other places. Wont be back..

Had a lovely Sunday dinner in the Sheepbridge on 30th June 2013. Vegetable soup (just like you would make at home) Roast beef with all the trimmings and Pavlova + tea or coffee. Really excellent meal with ample portions (I was unable to finish the roast beef, delicious as it was). The service was spot on and the atmosphere was lovely. Priced very reasonably indeed.

Regularly go to this restaurant/bar on a Sunday. The Sunday lunch is great with plenty of choice of veg and the sweets are beautiful. The food of the menu is great too which they serve after 4. There is music from 6 and plenty to keep the kids occupied with the 10 pin bowling down stairs and the adventure play area and lazer quest. it really is a great place to go with the family any day of the week. I've had my son's birthday party in it twice as well as his christening party and my daughters holy communion meal and have to say the staff and service is second to none. Haven't found better. When i went to book my husband's 40th birthday party in it, i was amazed to find out that the management are only too happy to put on the hot buffet and dj for free if your having a large party with them. Wouldn't get that anywhere else.

Super expensive food & ice cream, super small portions. Chips 4.2 minute curry sauce 2 . The food is quite good but the prices & portions are ridiculous £6.20 for a chip with curry sauce £12 for fish and chip. Staff are always pleasant

Terrible service and waiting time. Order over phone at 12.50, walked over at lunchtime 1pm and waited a further 15 minutes on 2 mixed chips.

Service was the worst at our stay in the hotel, staff were asked twice on drink order took 45 minutes also our friend found a hair in her chicken curry which puts a question of the hygiene rate in the kitchen, also staff didn’t know anything about the menu and staff weren’t informed on what was on the menu. The food we had was lovely and the atmosphere was perfectly fine. Credits to the lady with the ginger hair she done everything we had asked her and knew her job role very well The hair in the food problem was resolved with a discount much appreciated but still believe regulations need to be made.

Lovely food and great for families. The menu is traditional Irish food, really tasty. Potential for entertainment with music, and can book for large gatherings.
