Shandiz Restaurant in Sunderland

Last night I have ordered take away for 2 ,paid over 40 pound ....I will never order again,I used to order before only take away but last night I was extremely disappointed ,that wasn't a 40 pound delivery ,over 40 not included delivery fees .

Decepcionante haber planeado una primera visita aquí, para luego tener que abortar en la puerta ya que hay un cartel colocado en la barra de "solo efectivo" Ni la esposa ni yo llevamos una tarjeta bancaria, ni dinero en efectivo en estos días. Y no quiero ir a la caza de un cajero automático cuando sólo quiero sentarme y comer. Por favor entra en 2025 y consigue una máquina de tarjetas. Aprecio los costos, etc., simplemente pegue 50 p extra en la factura para cubrir los pagos en línea. ¡A la gente no le importará!

La comida aquí está bien en general - fuimos esta noche y sacaron la principal con el entrante que lo enviamos de vuelta como queríamos disfrutar de nuestros entrantes - y desafortunadamente lo devolvieron así que hacía frío - cuando pedimos que se calentara la gerente femenina fue muy agresivo verbalmente - no vamos a volver - irrespetuoso y molesto cómo nos hablaron en ese momento.

Mi esposa había leído buenas críticas sobre este restaurante. No estaban mintiendo. Fuimos un sábado temprano por la noche y era solo en efectivo. Después de encontrar un cajero automático volví al establecimiento para encontrarme con mi esposa. Pedí un entrante de albóndigas que venía con un pan nan masivo. También nos preguntaron si queríamos un entrante de un tazón de cortesía de sopa de lentejas. La sopa era preciosa y compartimos las albóndigas muy sabrosas con el pan nan. Para un plato principal tuve un kebab mixto con 3 carnes diferentes con papas fritas. Mi esposa pidió un murgh Esfannaj con arroz al azafrán. Ambos de nuestros platos principales eran fantásticos y después de todo la comida no teníamos espacio para un desierto. No tengas miedo de probar este restaurante que era genial.

Always fantastic food and service, shandiz is one of Sunderland’s best places to get a half healthy takeaway or a nice sit down meal without breaking the bank. The food is always 10/10 and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. I always recommend shandiz to my friends and will carry on doing so.

This is a great Persian/Indian cuisine in the Northeast. I am very happy with the quality the food with fair prices. Their signature kebabs are particularly recommended.

The delivery driver had ruined my night. i left a note on the order to call when the delivery driver was at the door. He failed to do so then when I called he yelled saying it was my fault & refused to redeliver until we payed extra.

Tried their take out menu yesterday (Sunday) as a treat from my partner. Mixed Kebab with salad, and it was really lovely. Nice pieces of juicy tender meat and lovely fresh salad. Went back again today myself and had opportunity to talk to the lovely owner and her staff , so nice and friendly. I ordered the same and wasn't dissapointed. Will definatley be back 😊

The staff were attentive and helpful, we had a mixed platter with a good variety of side dishes to cater for a party of six it all arrived at the same time and everything was cooked to perfection and delicious. This was my first Persian meal and I will definitely be returning

Ordered an assortment if wraps, lamb, chicken and Arabic. All of them were beautiful and got a thumbs up from the family. Could be a new favourite of ours.

Me and my wife had the mixed grill for 2 and it was amazing. The food was so tasty and the staff are very friendly. Highly recommend

Beautiful food and great staff! Great value for money. The quality of food is superb 👍 We had the mixed grill (meat was sooooo tender, flavourful and juicy), some lamb chops (honestly even the onions and bell peppers in this dish were so tasty!), baklava (beautiful!) and Persian ice cream (haven't had anything like it before. Texture is unique and tastes amazing). Really recommend this place and will be visiting again. Thanks to all the staff who are so friendly and welcoming!

I've ordered and visited this restaurant multiple times. It's one of my favourite restaurants ever, not just in Sunderland city centre.

Had lunch today and I have to say it was amazing, beautiful falafel really nice mixed grill with chicken and lamb so tasty, had Persian tea for the first time and it was so nice and refreshing. staff were amazing so friendly can't recommend this place enough!

Fui aquí esta noche por tercera vez y estuvo tan bien como siempre. El personal era acogedor y muy amable. Antes de la red nos dieron un tazón gratis de deliciosa sopa de lentejas picante que era encantador. Mi pareja luego tomó el cordero con arroz al azafrán y yo tuve el cordero persa guisado, ambos muy bien cocinados, sabrosos, llenos y todo maravilloso. Esto junto con una botella muy decente de vino tinto de la casa llegó a increíblemente razonable £ 41. No puedo recomendar este lugar lo suficientemente alto, desde la comida increíble hasta el personal encantador. Lástima que el lugar no estaba más ocupado, pero con la competencia de muchos restaurantes nuevos en la ciudad, tal vez esto no es sorprendente. Definitivamente estar haciendo otra visita a este lugar en poco tiempo. Recomendado sin reservas.

Always lovely food and good service

Wonderful staff, so hospitable. Gorgeous food and so creatively presented. Perfect start to an evening at the theatre with friends. Have ordered on Just eat too (although quantity of food was less than served in restaurant?) But still amazing and enough to eat. I ordered the one person platter (3 kebabs with rice) and a feta salad as a side. My friend ordered a curry with rice and chocolate cake.

Ordered this meal to test out the food and ate in the actual restaurant last night - again ordering the same meal. However, im curious, the take out had 2 kebabs and too much rice the meal inside restaurabt had 3 kebabs and rice. Sane price?

I haven't had a Shandiz in ages and forgot how good they are. I absolutely inhaled it.

The carton of veg curry was less than half full, this was meant to be shared between two people and there wasn’t enough to soak the rice, I noticed the portion size of the curry was a lot smaller than the rice on a few occasions in the past, but this time it was on another level, I can only assume they ran out of curry because it was a late order. I have requested a full refund.

Really tasty food. I’ve been here a few times now when me and my wife are in Sunderland. Very reasonably priced food as well. Whenever I’m here I will try another dish. Big portions and the food is seasoned perfectly. I will be going later on as well to try another dish. Really friendly family restaurant. I highly recommend trying if your in this area.

Stunningly good food. We had never had Persian food before but the waitress was so helpful and the dishes we had were amazing. Really rich flavours, beautifully presented and very generous servings.

I am regularly visiting Sunderland to work so I have to rely on local restaurants. Most of the time I just want to order food to my hotel room. I have been to the restaurant couple of times but had probably 20+ takeaways. I have never had a bad meal. The food is absolutely amazing. It’s one of the reason why I am staying in near by hotel is so I can order food from Shandiz all times. The meat is so delicious, dips are full of flavour and nan bread is just incredible. I hope owners and chef get to see this review. Well done, you are serving simply fantastic food.

The food is good like all Persians restaurants, but the quantity is less. If you visit a Persians place in Newcastle, you get a good quantity of the same food. But overall, the place is worth a try.

had to ring multiple times .. order nearly 2 hours late ... food not up to usual standard after many times

£15 for not very much meat and salad with no dressing. I usually like this place but that was not worth the money at all..

Lady on phone was very rude and accusing me that I put the wrong mobile number and driver has been trying to ring me a couple of times. I only have one mobile number and previous drivers were always able to contact me with my only mobile number. I haven’t received any phone call from a driver since I’ve put the order in. The lady was so dismissive on the phone. It’s a shame because I have always ordered from Shandiz and had no problems before.

Its really lovely restaurant , I’m surprised that there is a Mediterranean here in Sunderland, Great chips and mix girll , stuff was friendly .Highly recommend.

I was delighted to find an Iranian restaurant in the city of Sunderland, as it added a nice touch to my one-day trip. The staff there were kind and welcoming, and they treated me with respect. I ordered lamb chops with rice, which was very delicious and tasty, although the quality of the rice could have been better. Considering the difficulty of finding Iranian ingredients in a European country, it was acceptable. The only thing that slightly concerned me was when it came time to pay the bill, they said they only accepted cash, and I didn't have any on me. 😬 Luckily, my friend was kind enough to cover the entire bill. So, if you ever visit Sunderland, I recommend giving it a try.

The quality of the food was awful, the service was worse than the food, the basic things that every restaurant should observe were not observed at all. The atmosphere also felt like I came from a somsari to a restaurant, the flowers on the table were like the flowers I had seen on the grave thirty years ago in Iran. You take cash to avoid taxes, you can escape from the alcohol tax, but at least in one case, you must comply with the minimum. To make the customer want to come to your restaurant again. I wrote Farsi so that at least you don't lose your English customers

Fantastic service. Amazing food sizzling lamb chops and chicken Shish. Rice was amazing, buttery rice.

Loyal customer but now refusing to honour the stamp card deal. Immensely greedy behaviour with no communication whatsoever. Tried twice on one night to get rejected, tried again a week later and same thing. Won’t be ordering from here again. I hope the extra tenner is worth it.
