Very friendly staff, and nice decor. The food is well-priced and you leave feeling full. You choose, for £20 per person, six starters and six mains. They portion it well, depending on how many people you have. I would recommend the chicken satay and lemon chicken.

Firstly, I will say some of the food was a really good and the speed of service was excellent. Personally I believe a service charge should be given if service is good. Not automatically added. It’s not the cheapest place for a Buffet at 20 quid.

Extremely disappointed. Friendly and speedy service notwithstanding, the sweet and sour tofu had an unpleasant and nigh on nauseating taste of vinegar, and the vegetarian spring rolls were too salty.

Six foods, so much and great taste.

First half of the buffet was lovely, but as we were eating, out came the duck and pancakes, by the time we had finished to start the duck , was cold , then came the second course , not nice pork was dry and tough , and the beef curry was so chewy ,we just couldn't eat it , used to love this place , but sadly no more ,

Ordered collection. Was ready for collection on time but.... Both chicken balls & prawns were extremely overcooked. Not very good. Even chilli chips were poor quality. Won't be ordering again, for sure.

Ordered since my usual Chinese restaurant has been temporarily closed. Food arrived in about 8 mins which was surprising since I had a large order. Food was terrible, not fresh, couldn't actually eat it. It went off the next day! Gone off Chinese food!!

No clear vegan options on the menu but the manager happily noted which could be switched with tofu. Food was tasty, especially the rice noodles. Service was poor and when I asked for the service fee to be removed they did not even question it. The 2 front of house staff are clearly not trained. A touch pricey with regard to value for money but I would return for the food (just not the spring rolls as they had no flavour).

Went here the other day and it was amazing, haydn was our waiter and he was great, kept us upto date with the food and checked up with us for drinks, george was also great and was very polite. very underrated. 5 stars

Visited this place yesterday (02.03.24) for my mums birthday. I would say this place is a hidden gem. We're not from Leighton Buzzard, but would happily travel there again because the food was fantastic!! Great atmosphere, nice people and fab food!! Would recommend.

Nice food except for the chicken curry which was the most watery sauce in the world, it was pretty much yellow water also what a total rip off. Expect to spend £60 for 2 people. It’s a shame because it’s the only half decent Chinese in Leighton buzzard. To sum up, watery, nice but terribly expensive. Well in to my overdraft after eating here

Absolutely lovely, first experience of eating here and won't be the last. Good menu , all cooked fresh and able to order more if you wanted. The only thing I feel would have made it better would have been softer lighting and some music in the background .

I think this has new owners so it was a bit disappointing. There was no atmosphere when you walked in, no music that we could hear and wasn't very busy

Food delivered quickly and hot. Food was tasteless and found three hairs in our food on different dishes. Salt and pepper chips are soggy with onions, no spice. Will not be going back for plus £40. Such a shame as last time, food was on point.

Rather disappointed ☹️ this time. Is the management changed? The food unfortunately didn't impress me at all, as it looked the same, no presentation and the bill received was quite high. The only positive side was the friendly staff and the speed of service. This review is for a buffet for two people with 3 no- alcoholic drinks. Portions were small, the egg fried rice without egg or invisible, 4 mains ordered all with a red sauce (chilli??) 🤔 I could have spent the same amount of money in a posh cozy restaurant with outstanding quality.

A wonderful Chinese restaurant with fresh and delicious food rich in flavour. Been there several times, I highly recommend it.

Food was terrible, very overkooked

Little bit confused about my bill. Will call in the morning. Cannot understand how it came to £83 for 3 of us. We really didn't eat very much and 1 alcoholic drink which was a shandy.... food was nice.... need to discuss the bill sadly I just paid without much attention 😕

If you have the egg fried rice, do inspect it and consider the quantity of egg in it. My estimate is 0.5%. Of course if it has any amount of egg in it, they are entitled to charge more. In fact, it and boiled rice taste exactly the same.

What a superb Chinese meal myself and 4 friends had. The food was fresh and delicious and the service was brilliant too. Highly recommended.

The food was very good on the first order. However we did order again as it is eat as much as you like and the food portions had got considerably smaller each dish was about the right amount for one person and there was 3 of us The plates were also cold which didn't help this made as feel that really they don't want you to order extra food! Probably would not bother to return. The restaurant has no atmosphere and no chop sticks offered as many other Chinese restaurants do..

I've been sitting here 45 minutes for a takeaway, having been told the delay was a miscommunication on the order because they can't understand English properly in the kitchen. This was after I tried to call for 20 minutes and after no answer, walked from my flat, thankfully in town, to see the staff member standing outside playing on her phone. I've been coming here for years but now the other fella has retired, it's starting to slip. No amount of apology will compensate me sitting here for over 45 minutes whilst my friends and partner sit at home waiting. I'm so unimpressed and won't be doing this again

Lovely food, a little cramped due to the size of the building. Staff were very attentive and efficient. We were a party of around 20 and they coped well. A bit pricy but quality was good.

First time in there & it was a special event. To get to & from the tables theres an horrendously high step to climb up & down, with nothing to hold on to. As someone who has to use a stick it was dangerous. Food was a set menu & everything was lovely & plenty of it. Going back to the step, I wasnt impressed we had to go down them again to the counter to order our drinks, it should have been table service. All in all a lovely evening, but having to do those steps without holding on again has reluctantly put me off going back.

It’s -5 outside last night. It was warmer outside than it was in this restaurant!!! Had to give one star. Would have given lower but couldn’t. It says you can re order any food again but when it came to it they didn’t like you too. Then they bring out completely different food items to what we ordered. Very small portions for sharing. Wouldn’t have fed a pigeon. The duck…. You pay extra and was dried and burnt. Low quality food. Extremely awful service and miserable owner!!!! Always used to come here but I can finally say I will never come again. Wouk not recommend unless you’ve had covid and have no taste buds!!! Even then I’d think about it!! Totally overpriced!!!! DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!

Visited this evening and had fresh buffet that we couldn't finish. 6 starters of our choice from menu followed by 6 mains from menu of our choice. Delicious.

One of the best Chinese in town you can get a variety of food for a reasonable price. The staff are extremely friendly and attentive to all your needs. I don’t recommend it as much for a takeaway as it’s mainly a restaurant style Chinese. The food is always delicious so I highly recommend this.

Me and my husband had a table booked for 7:00pm we was waiting 25 minutes and we still hadn’t been shown are table the manager was to busy serving drinks as was the waiters we didn’t get any acknowledgment to say sorry or nothing we have never been to a restaurant where they are so rude etc we won’t be coming here again.

Best eat in Chinese in Leighton Buzzard! The take away is excellent too, but it is expensive compared to other offerings and the "All you can eat" dine in option offers much better value for money. You can pick six starters, followed by an optional duck course (for a small amount more) and then pick six mains. All the food is cooked up fresh and delivered to your table. This system works really well for a few of you and i personally prefer it to the standard "all you can eat buffet", but it can become problematic with bigger groups as you all need to share the same six dishes. Obviously you get bigger portions of each in bigger groups, but it limits your options. Pros; Value for money (eat in more so), Fresh cooked food, Quality of Food, Fortunate Prawns are lush, Staff are friendly, Cons; Take away can be expensive, Decor is a little dated, can only order 6 dishes (even in larger groups)

Food was ok, good service but interior not chinese at all. Poor quality furnishings if ur dining in.

Went to see what the food was like and how it tastes. To have a warm atmosphere from the staff and to find out the history of the restaurant. 30 year's going I can not give any faults with my visit because the drinks were fresh cocacola the starters were literally mouth watering and shortly followed by the mains and can say that I read a review from someone who spoke of sauces covering up bland foods, I am happy to tell you the best honest review from a genuine customer who has nothing but to say that I will be going back there again regularly with more people to share what me and 3 family members experienced because the food was literally mouth watering every dish. The restaurant is also very clean with nice toilets for customers. Out of 10 everything I experienced was a little bit different from my expectations to be able to share the reality of a very special hidden gem my score out of 10 is 10/10 and 5 stars it's a blessing to have found myself to be able to share my experience with a review that is not aimed at putting down something special because it is special and people deserve to know the truth. We ate there last night. No atmosphere. Poor service and expensive food that was underwhelming to say the least. Did not appreciate being asked to leave at 10pm so they could close.

Have been several times in the past and had lovely meals this was awful we were a group of 4 and we left more food than we ate. Then we were offered a 10.00 voucher which we did not want as we will not be returning.

Table was wobbly , needs updating seemed hard work to order just a lot of faff . Also think quite expensive for what it is :/

Still a favourite, now a long established and probably the best Chinese restaurant in our immediate vicinity. A busy Friday evening service where staff looked after us very well - tasty, freshly prepared dishes all cooked to order, a really enjoyable evening after so many months of being confined to quarters. Good quality ingredients and certainly offers a value for money experience.

Really tasty fresh food. Still a sort of buffet but adapted for Covid so you just selected all you want off a buffet menu and they bring it out. Worked really well!

Ordered for delivery at 5.30, didn't arrive until 7.45 when everyone's appetite had subsided! Then we find it was cold ! I never normally post but this is the 2nd time this has happened. 1/10 very disappointed. 🙃 food is normally good but my advice is to collect it.

Just ordered off of deliveroo. Food was cold, waited 2 hours for my food. Hated my experience.

Very expensive, portions are reduced to 3/4 on normal, sweet & sour chicken balls 3/4 batter and 1/4 chicken, cucumber that comes with aromatic was slimy and tasted awful, overpriced and below standards. NEVER AGAIN

Poor quality food, pictures of food did not match photos. Chicken Teriyaki is shown with peppers. There was just chicken in some sticky sauce. Won't go there again.

My "Go to" for Chinese takeaway... is it bad we're on first name terms? Anyway, online order, collect at a time of your choice and it will be there waiting for you. Excellent service.

Excellent food, menu had been adapted due to covid but buffet work around was well implemented with the choice of meals brought and placed in centre of table for sharing.

Nice food but they forget things from your order every time we order from them. When you ring to complain they hang up. Will never eat here again. I would rather give another local business our money.

One of the best Chinese Restaurants in Leighton.

Every year my family go to your restaurant at Christmas as a lil treat for ourselves as the food its so great and the staff are so friendly and personable. Obviously due to the pandemic going on we can't dine in, but we have ordered take away a couple of times and it is just as delicious. Hopefully once the restaurant opens again we will be able to book a table and eat as much as we can.

After booking our take away early in the afternoon for collection at 7.30pm, you accepted the order. You then emailed me 20 minutes before the pick-up time to tell me the order was being processed and reminded me not to be late. Why then, when I turned up at 7.30pm was there 20+ people waiting inside and queueing outside your restaurant waiting for their orders? Every one of them had ordered early and turned up at the time you'd agreed with them. Those at the back of the queue said they'd already been waiting for 30 minutes! How on earth do you think this is acceptable? Why did you accept all of these order if you didn't have the staff to fulfil them on time? Why email people telling them to not forget about collecting when the order wasn't ready?, Why, when I asked how much longer I'd have to wait, was the reply from your staff "I dunno!" I have been a massive fan of yours ever since moving to Leighton Buzzard and after what has been a terrible year, getting a take away from our favourite local Chinese was a small silver lining that me and my other half had been looking forward to all through Christmas. Thanks for ruining it!

Can’t. Stop. Eating. My first time at Shan Shui, veg spring rolls were fresh and light, crispy chilli beef was superb. Rice cooked well, and all nice and hot. Will be back.

Took our order? Then 3 hours of waiting and Falkirk later told us, we don’t have your order. They also don’t give tips to the staff, awful. Terrible, will not be eating from here EVER again and advise others not to do so

Absolutely disgusting customer service! We order from them regularly, always around £50 worth of food! After tonight we will never use them again! 2hours after placing an order we received COLD food because the driver was busy! We had called chasing the food twice before arrival and where told 5 minutes both times! Called again on arrival and was told sorry give the food back if you are not happy?! No offer to resolve it... we waited 2 hours to be told just give it back if your not happy?! Gave the food back and continued the discussion with the manager apparently, who eventually offered to re cook the food and we will receive it in 30minutes but we must pay over the phone? When they where about to accept £53 in cash for cold food?! Saying no we will pay cash on arrival and this was now refused! When I explained that this was unacceptable, as a regular customer, they have not provided us with loyal service...HE DISCONNECTED THE CALL!! Moral of the story, if you haven't got capacity to fulfil the order DONT ACCEPT IT!!!

Decided to phone the restaurant to check what was going on with our food for them to tell us they do not deliver to ware I live (they have delivered to us before) told us to contact just eat so I did just redirect us back to the restaurant to then find out they haven't even cooked our food

I’m sitting outside as I have been since 1930! It’s now 20:22 I can’t comment on the food clearly AS WE HAVEN'T GOT ANY! I can comment on the service and I’d say until they get the web ordering and timings sorted I simply wouldn’t bother. I’ve never waited this long for a sit down and I will never come back. Shame as they had some nice reviews.

Just spent £40 on our first order (take away) from this restaurant and from experience the food was appalling. Crispy Shredded Beef.. must of been pre cooked several times as it was impossible to eat because it was over cooked and extremely hard to almost impossible to chew. Char Sui.. well the pork was dried out and they thought adding sauce would soften it up, nope it was tough as old boot leather. Chinese Spare Ribs..another meat product dried out with a slap of sauce. Most likely the food given to us was leftovers from their buffet.

Ordered for take away a rice and a noodle dish. Fried Noodle were almost soup like with weird taste. Meat were undercooked and looked weird in both dishes. I don't write reviews so.often but my experience was so disappointing that had to do it. I hope they will up they services in the future but until then I DON'T recommend this place for anyone.

We have eaten in and used the takeaway service! We have ordered takeaway twice from here now. It has been by far the best chinese. The delivery has been quick and the food has been hot and fresh both times. Although it is expensive compared to some other places it is worth it.

I really don't know what's happening here over the last couple of months but the food is terrible absolutely dripping in grease to the extent you could fill a bowl with it we unfortunately didn't eat most of the food for that reason but what we did try and eat severely upset are stomach to the point my husband had to take 3 days out just to get over it please please do not risk it

Do not eat alone under any circumstances, I visited on a Friday night as a single person and had to pay almost £50 for this mediocre chinese food, I certainly did not eat £50 worth of food, there were no other offers or options, no sympathy from owners and a rude suck it up attitude - single people seem to be subsidising the buffet meal for others.

Average Western style Chinese buffet. Food was tolerable but the usual problems with sauces/sugar/salt obscuring the taste of the food. Three of us ate for £60 but no drinks. A bit more variety/selection would have been nice.

Always love it here. The dishes have superior taste and presentation to any other East Asian restaurant in the area. Price is reasonable and the service is impeccable. We were so lucky to try the fortunate prawns which are amazing! They also have takeaway which is great too. Highly recommended.

Lovely place on the high street, great staff always see them in my work getting a coffee. I Highly recommend shan shui the food quality it's out of this world. The tastes and experiences are mind blowing hot fresh food that tastes this good ?? Why not ? Drinks are pricy but no more that you'd expect from a restaurant. If your passing by just give it a go nothing ventured nothing gained.
