Special chow mein from here is without doubt my favourite. Fat prawns and thin noodles. 👌

Phoned for ribs and chilli chips..took one hour fifty minutes to arrive from saltcoats to ardrossan on a wednesday night..food was frozen when it eventually arrived..

It’s a shame … the food itself is nice. However the prices here are crazy turning! For two meals and two starters delivered to the next town I was almost £35! That’s a lot of money for a “treat” to top it off my order was wrong so wasn’t best pleased even after it was repeated back to me on the phone. I think I’ll be going elsewhere from now on.

Our first visit and it will be our last, my chicken Cantonese had more onion than chicken. The egg fried rice looked like it was from an uncle Bens packet and was tasteless. The sauce tasted only of vinegar. I threw it in the bin. The Mrs had sweet & sour chicken that was tasteless. Shame as it was recommended by a friend to try it. Hope he gets his taste bud transplant soon.

Got a char suey chop suey with boiled rice from here I recommend as it was very tasty

I’ve always loved the food but recently it’s becoming EXTREMELY expensive!!! Two chicken fried rices with gravy and a portion of chips delivered to the next town we were over £23!!!! Sorry but I’d highly suggest going elsewhere with they crazy prices! You don’t even get complimentary prawn crackers now.

Good food I especially love the fried rice! The delivery is normally quick too. My only downside is the price it’s definitely got ALOT more expensive! For example tonight I ordered two chicken fried rice with gravy and a portion of salt & chilli chips we were including delivery (to the next town) £23.30 and that doesn’t include any extra (prawn crackers) they’ve even stopped giving them out for free. Definitely very expensive for two meals. Shame as the food is nice.

Could not eat the soup or food, it was inedible, would not recommend a take away from here.

I ordered a lot from here and the food is always nice and the fried rice definitely is like no other place in the three towns. Recently they started doing the salt/chilli chips in batter for £4.50 a portion and as you can see in the photos there as fry as hell definitely wouldn’t get them again. Everything else is great but definitely won’t be ordering them again. Also if you like large size rices with your meal make sure you ask for a LARGE as the rice is delicious but extremely small portions unfortunately!

had a meal here last night it was a set meal for 4 delivered promptly the starters were spare ribs and spring rolls the ribs were chewy and tasteless and the spring rolls were soggy the main course were salty and the meat was stewed overall disgusting and definitely won't be back

We both have visited saltcoats many times over the years and have been recommended many times to visit this Chinese takeaway by the locals, the shop itself appeared very clean, the service was fast, the food was excellent, so now I will recommend this place to everyone else, or when in the area.

Absolutely disgusting, tastes like something a British drunk person would make, when they are intoxicated. Pink chicken is not on, worst rice I have ever tasted, gravy was crap. Can’t believe this business gets away with this sort of food. 🤮

Always order from here as there rice is just so different from any other takeaway I’ve ever tried! I absolutely love the food and never had a bad meal! My only issue is sometimes I feel the portions could be slightly bigger! (More chicken in the chicken curry) but over all a very tasty meal every single time!

Me and my partner love our takeaways especially the muchie boxes but for the first time this munchie box was tasteless. Gravy tasted like watery bisto, sweet and sour sauce, nothing sweet about it and lacked the pineapple and tomatoes. The rice looked like Indian rice. Chicken wings were just salty. Point blank, the whole food isn't worth the money so we ended up ordering another from the Beijing. Blows Shan Moon right out the water so never order from there folks

ordered a takeaway from here and got my daughter a chicken chow mein, absolutely disgusting huge bits of chicken barely no noodles looked like it was covered in slime stinking would not serve this to my dog!

i usually love this take-away however last nights was a total let down ribs had an off taste sweet n sour sauce was just like a runny red vinegar and ruined the whole meal worst sweet n sour sauce i have ever tried-even shop bought ready meals are better

honey n garlic ribs-lovely king prawn curry-tasty only moan i have is although my request for no onion in the sauce-you spoiled it by putting mushrooms in it-it doesnt say that on menu so i think you should ask at time of order if we want more than just the prawn

Love the food it’s always beautiful I especially love the rice with the wee spring onions in it. Only issue I have is how small the portions of rice are as I normally share it but it’s hardly enough for even one. But overall a very good and the lunches are fantastic value.

I have used Shan moon various times before ,however this time is the last . Ordered special fried rice ,mushrooms in gravy , beansprouts and prawn crackers. The special fried rice was soggy and no prawns, the mushrooms seemed overdone and gravy was poor , the beansprouts were small and soggy , apart from that all of the food had an odd metallic aftertaste, all the food apart from the prawn crackers which were very good went in the bin, when I phoned back for an explanation of our order Shan moon hung up the phone on me. I would have rated one but at least the prawn crackers were good. Standards would seem to have been lost,, NOT impressed.

Waited over an hour and a half for delivery and the food was poor. Spring rolls soggy, chicken wings very dry, beef curry was poor spent over £30 for 4 of us and not one of us enjoyed it. Shame as this is usually a nice Chinese but sadly quality has went right downhill. Would not order again.

Omg. Prob the best Chinese restaurant in the town. Salt n chili chicken was excellent. And the ribs were great and reasonably priced.

Ordered both stopping in to order and delivery at home. Great food, fast and I always enjoy my meals from Shan Moon. Having a wee Chinese on the weekend or even a mid week treat I always go for Shan Moon. VERY GOOD AND HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !!!

Friendly staff, efficient service. Unfortunately the food was so bland. Chicken Satay skewers with no flavour whatsoever, very mild curry sauce. Fried rice very strange indeed. Disappointing overall.

I got mine & my granddaughter's lunch from here. They offer a two course at a good price. We were really disappointed with our food. Both the curry & chow mein were really greasy and the chicken in both meals was dry & rubbery.

Worst meal ever, ordered chicken and black bean sauce , the peppers and onions were the size of soup spoons and the black bean sauce, was certainly not black, I reckon they bought one of those blue Dragon packets for 50p and made 6 dishes from it, disgusting and felt sick afterwards and that was flinging half it down the loo, speed Chinese and Kevin's, best in 3 towns, Shan moon would be better closing, never again 🤮

Watery tasteless chow mein and equally tasteless gravy,which has all just landed in the bin. Chicken looked as if it had been boiled. Delivery was quick hence one star,not much point though when it was inedible

Chicken curry - chicken was revolting, tasted off very undercooked. Whole dish was about 60% chunks of tough onion. Genuinely the worst meal I've ever tried to eat.Spring rolls were soggy with grease and were just bean sprouts. The fried rice was full of eggy lumps, looked like bits of omelette. Honestly, absolutely disgusting

Not as good as it used to be. New chf, new suppliers? Chicken breast tough, grisly. Watery curry sauce, everything too salty, fried rice greasy, boiled rice watery. Staff are nice enough, could do without the delivery drivers hanging around though. Definitely taken a downturn in last few weeks. Big improvement this week - gave it another try and so much better. Food was massively better, well done. 10th November 2018. Another massive downturn on the food. Chicken was way undercooked, suspect it was off. Watery curry sauce again far too many onions in it. Tried this Chinese about 20yrs ago. It was good then and still one of the best

We have come to Scotland on holiday the usually Chinese/Indian/desert shop we use sugar and spice has closed so we thought we would go down and try this is as this was the closest one to us. We ordered 1 chicken chowmein and 1special chow mien this was absolutely appalling it had no flavour just had plain noodles fried in oil and chicken and was absolutely gross! We ordered satay chicken also which was bland had no flavour and was lumpy which was the exact same with the beef curry thick and lumpy as if someone was sick in the food. We also ordered special fried rice which they charged us for!! And gave us egg fried rice after we traveled down to collect the food! We then rang them up to tell them the issue we had with the food and we then told them it was wrong and we wanted special friend rice with bbq sauce rather than gravy and wanted it with free delivery! What do they go and bring! Special fried rice with gravy that I wouldn’t have even fed my dogs that was lumpy when I called to ask for the refund they told us that they can send the driver back for the refund but to send the food back to them which was bizzare as why would they need it back what are they gonna do sell it on! Absolutley disgusting service had an argument over a refund as at first they would give us one! Would never ever use this place again absolutely disgusting food and service! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!

Been ordering here for years, easily the best and blasts the competition out of the water. Fresh, great tasting food served quickly - special mentions to the rib mixed starter, chicken curry, Szechuan chicken and the Singapore noodles. Great value, great quality and great taste.

It was very cold when we got it,the ribs had red meat and hardly any meat on it we also ordered 2 bags of chips and got 1 bag

Delicious food served within minutes. We had a king prawn sechaun last night which was superb!!!! We have used other takeaways but think this is by far the best!

Visited for the first time last week it was very busy with lots of regulars. Staff were pleasant and the food was nice only drawback was it was quite a small amount of chicken in the curry when compared to other local takeaways. Would return though and try another dish.

Best Chinese I have found near me. I had the quarter of Pecking duck to start. The size was a decent size for the price the duck was great but the sauce was a bit salt, followed it up with the chicken curry which was lovely with a nice kick too it but again the sauce was a bit salty for my taste!

The staff are always cheerful and polite and the food is always good. Definitely one of the better take away restaurants in the area.

Went here on our first night staying at sandylands holiday park, the meal price come with rice and was very reasonably priced. The curry was very nice, spicy without being too hot.

We always use the Shan Moon for a Chinese Takeaway. The food is the best in the area. They'll happily make any small changes to your dish if you ask. The salt and chilli chicken is fantastic. Deliveries are quick and the food fresh.

Tonight my mother and I decided to get a meal out of here have not had any previous problems with the food, it looked like there was only one person cooking that was an old woman with a baseball cap, when we arrived home I opened the bag the King Prawn in batter was filled with grease I don't know if had been cooked properly, my mother ordered a Chop Suey to her surprise it was full of oil the beef looked like it had just been defrosted, also the spring rolls were not cooked properly too these were also swimming is grease, nothing was edible it was shocking!. I was dissapointed by this as I paid £14.55 for the whole meal and was very hungry, mum had phoned them to come and take the meal back to the shop, she got a woman on the phone who said she would send someone out to collect it also refund, as of right now nobody has been sent out to collect the meal also the promised refund of my money.Avoid!

Fed up with this Chinese takeaway now, on more Than 1 occasion they have forgotten something from my order, last nite it was chips! Couple of weeks ago i got burnt noodles. Told the lady but she does nothn. Also don't think the foods cooked properly. Wont be back!!!!

We have tried many takeaways, but Shan Moon is by far the best. Food is never greasy, always fresh and never over salted as I have found with some. Chicken chow mein is a must, ask for chicken breast with it.

I was horrified and disgusted when I went in to collect my order and the little lady went thru to the kitchen . . The chef was standing over a wok with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth . . . . Not been back since . . Will never be back ! ! ! !! ! !

Been going to the shan moon for years food is great. Every time my sister visits we have to get a take away from here. The rice is fantastic and so many different options on menu and still high quality of meals.

Their sweet and sour dishes are good in there, if anyone likes sweet and sour that is the place to go in saltcoats for a carry out or Mixed Peppers.

I eat from Shan Moon quite often, i think it is the best in Saltcoats for this type of food. The staff are friendly and you never have to wait long.
