Shambles in Richmond upon Thames

El restaurante Shambles es un maravilloso negocio familiar con un servicio excepcional y comida increíble. Fuimos en posiblemente el día más ocupado del año (20 de diciembre) y el servicio que recibimos fue increíble. Nos hicieron sentir tan especial y cada plato que pedimos era delicioso, incluyendo el vino que era tan bueno. Este tiene que ser mi restaurante favorito y volveremos muy pronto.

We were welcomed into the restaurant and sat at a large table, more than enough for our group of nine. The food was delicious and my Zuppa "papa pomodoro" Tuscan soup was divine. Followed by and equally delicious Casarecce spicy n'duja and pork ragu dish. as a follow up this we had bombardinos an eggnog and brandy cream concoction as pictured. Wonderful, wonderful afternoon.

Excellent as always, I never expect anything less from Shambles. It's my absolute very place to go as a treat. This year was the first year we've ever gone out for Christmas dinner, and we're so glad we did. The food was incredible, and such a good variety of choice (we really liked that we didn't have to pre order) but all of the staff were welcoming and lovely. We appreciate what it's like to work Christmas day (having done so many Christmas' ourselves) so we understand and really do appreciate how welcoming you all were.

We came for an early supper with our son and his wife and two year old and new baby. The staff were so kind and thoughtful. The food and service were as amazing as ever.

We were a group of 7 and we had a fantastic evening. The menu was full of mouth watering choices and difficult to make a choice as so much appealed and when the food arrived it was superb, the service everything you would want, and the atmosphere was perfect. Nothing to fault. We all agreed we would be back, either together or with our partners, and we are looking forward to returning.

A meal with friends that met expectations.

Really lovely relaxing lunch, cost atmosphere with the fire lit and not overly busy. Food was really tasty, a little rich, but great quality and portion sizes were perfect.

Food and staff good as usual, just a bit disappointed that were few other diners. Expected a bit more of a buzz for December.

Sunday roast was divine and plenty of it.

We went for our Book Club Christmas Party. We all had the best time, the atmosphere was perfect with the gorgeous piano playing, and the food, of course, was delicious. Its one of the best restaurants in Teddington, with excellent service!

If you get a chance to pop in for a drink in the evening, do so! We are not local and when passing the restaraunt last night were tempted by the lovely looking atmosphere and gentleman playing the piano.. We are so glad we went in. Excellent service at our table. I can't comment on food as we didn't have any but what a lovely bar for a drink.

Great food, drink and service! Our go to place in Teddington!

We regularly call-in at Shambles either for a full meal or for drinks and snacks at the bar. The welcome is always warm and accommodating (even when busy) and the service is excellent. In my view the food has improved significantly in recent years and is now of a very high standard. We are lucky to have Shambles in the heart of Teddington!

Best restaurant in the area by a mile. Great seasonal menu and superb wine list. Never disappoints.

Amazing restaurant, the food is delicious and it's family owned, and family run so the service and atmosphere are lovely. We also had our wedding lunch here which was really special!

The only thing I would suggest us giving steak knives to customers having beef as the knives given were not sharp enough

Had the most amazing Sunday Roast, everything cooked to perfection. The overnight roasted beef was pink and tender.

It was just over priced imo. I think when you are charging ~£26 for a chicken breast with white beans and gravy, there's only so much it can be elevated. Most food was nice, that's not the issue (although the aubergine steak was a little bitter and needed sauce!) but when you start straying into £25-35/main, no side, territory you really have to be delivering and it wasn't there. Have been there before and had a better time, may come again if the menu changes.

Precioso restaurante y gran servicio, pero en mi humilde opinión, la comida es muy cara. Compartimos un precioso plato de gambas, pero mi pechuga de pollo en una cama de salsa indiferente llena de lentejas sin verduras a más de £ 25 fue una decepción. El vino a £ 13 por una copa pequeña también era caro para lo que era. Lo siento, pero no por mí.

Had the most wonderful birthday evening for my husband. The reviews certainly live up to expectation! Margarita and her team gave us a truly magical evening with cocktails, 4 course Italian specialties, complimentary extras, and Maurice on piano! Las fabulosas carnes asadas, pudines de Yorkshire, patatas asadas y un gran plato de verduras verdes fue una porción masivamente generosa. Me encanta Porcetta y el crujido fue excelente. Los entrantes eran grandes también - gambas en un ajos, salsa de tomate y un gran gran granero de focaccia. El jardín es encantador, así como el personal

Esta fue nuestra segunda visita a este restaurante. La primera vez fue un almuerzo con la familia que disfrutamos fuera en la extensa zona de comer al aire libre. Esta es realmente la mejor característica de este restaurante, por lo que estábamos encantados de que el tiempo era caluroso para nuestra visita nocturna. Shambles es un restaurante italiano de lujo. Aunque hay un horno de pizza al aire libre en las instalaciones, actualmente no ofrece pizza en el menú. Lo que hay en el menú es comida italiana refrescante. Me gustó mucho mi entrante de espárragos con frijoles que era encantador y fresco, y mi espagueti delgado principal con azotes de trufa afeitada. Aunque era un viernes por la noche bastante estándar, había un aire de celebración entre nuestros compañeros comensales, así que diría que este es un destino para ocasiones especiales, al menos por las noches. En realidad no hay inconvenientes, aunque generalmente preferimos tomar bebidas antes de la cena en un pub local antes de cenar, mientras que el personal parece esperar que los huéspedes tengan al menos una ronda de bebidas antes de la cena antes de pedir, así que tuvimos que explicarles esto. Our food was enjoyable , however feel that shambles is getting cheeky with their pricing and feel that although the food was nice it doesn't warrant the prices they are currently charging - Service was also very slow between courses , and should be much quicker considering what they are charging one would expect a much quicker service

Great food and a lovely restaurant but unfortunately got food poisoning twice from this place. Both times I had pasta so I am not sure if there was something wrong with the dough or their sauce

Came to Shambles for a birthday meal as a treat as it is now pretty expensive. Had a pumpkin starter, a slice of garnished pumpkin which oddly was warm and cold, and cooked and raw in different parts at the same time. I have no idea how the chef managed to achieve this, but it really wasn't nice. The proprietor was very concerned when they saw I hadn't eaten it and apologised profusely when hearing what the issue was. The main then came, ravioli with sauce and filled with Pheasant (might have been another game bird). Absolutely delicious, until I started crunching on bones in the filling. I tried every single piece of ravioli, all had some bones in, a really disappointing way to ruin an expensive meal. Paid the bill and left hungry.

Lovely garden and a cool place, menu looked good, but it was £17.80 for a glass of the cheapest, and pretty mediocre, rose and a pint of beer. Meh.

Took the wife for a birthday dinner and sat in the garden in beautiful sunshine. What a fabulous meal! She had the veggie risotto and I had the inferno prawns and a perfectly cooked cod dish. Was recommended a great bottle of rose. Service was excellent (as usual). 10 out of 10!

Lovely local Italian restaurant. In the summer the garden is beautiful.

The food here was absolutely delicious. We were a party of 7 and everyone loved their food. Very generous portion as well for a great price (London standards). The pasta main plates were huge! They had a lovely backyard covered with trees which was perfect for a nice sunny day in London without getting too hot. The staff were very attentive and nice. We will be coming back to try more dishes! Highly recommend!

Food too expensive for very small portions, had pasta with monk fish, it was too salty and pasta didn't taste like freshly made as mentioned in the menu, didn't point it out as we had to send focaccia bread back already being too salty and very hard. We were disappointed.

The food was so nice and the dessert. I could see the chef truly loves the food and cooking. Highly recommended!!!

A beautiful genuinely Italian resurant. A great menu of choices the food was fantastic and topped off with fantastic garden dining area you would never guess was there. A hidden gem!

Went for Sunday lunch & had roast beef & Yorkshire Pudding. Beautifully cooked & served with spring veg, that was not overcooked & crunchy roast potatoes. All very delicious!

My wife and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary with our children, spouses and grandchildren in the garden yesterday. Such a magical setting enhanced by spectacular food, wine and service!!! An absolute must for anyone who loves exceptional quality!!!!!

Never disappoints great food, fab wine list with brilliant attentive staff

Perfect all round, and definitely the best restaurant meal I have enjoyed in a long time! The food was delicious, and very gourmet - I had burrata with grapefruit to start, followed by a delicious pasta dish, and pannacotta with rhubarb for dessert. The ambience in the courtyard garden was very relaxed, and we were so pleased to sit outside on one of the first warm evenings of the year.

Booked this place as we were staying in the area, very disappointing., ordered a pasta dish, which was a bit more the al dented, very tough pasta.

Amazing veggies in a gluten free pasta

A great Italian restaurant for pasta and Sunday roasts! We walked in on a Sunday around 2pm without booking and there was availability. We ordered the mixed Sunday roasts and all three meats: beef rump, pork and chicken were all well cooked, but the pork and beef were standing out more to me than chicken. The roasts potatoes were absolutely beautiful, super crispy outside and perfectly fluffy inside. I also loved the option to order a small plate for pasta as a starter, and the flavour was so good (only wish they toned the salt down a little bit as it was too salty for me). 100% recommend and would absolutely go back to try some more pasta dishes

Pasta undercooked but the manager wasn’t having it so that was that! The answer was “that’s how we serve our pasta”. The owner/manager is right and you as the customer is wrong!

Was visiting a friend and she suggested it. These days I'm often dissapointed but not with this. Service was attentive but not invasive. The food was excellent and all the elements of the dishes worked. We had a lovely evening. We'll done!!!

Excellent family run modern Italian restaurant. Have been going there for years, and it is consistently good. The vegetarian and vegan dishes are among the best in London. After a perfect dinner there in early December we went back for Christmas lunch and were not in any way disappointed. Great food, superb wine, excellent service, open fires and a warm welcome.

Where do I start, I have fond memories of shambles ever since childhood and have continued to visit as often as possible given I no longer live in the area, however, todays visit was let down by slow service, forgetful staff and while the child portions are extremely generous the same could not be said for an adult main pasta dish, which when queried if the portion placed in front of me was a main portion (starter option available so thought there had been a slight mix up given the child’s portion was of a similar size and another person ordering the same dish had a substantially larger portion) was met with a sharp “yes” from the waitress while she turned to walk away. What made me write this review though, is absolutely no attempt was made to resolve the situation. Sadly we will think twice before returning.

It's very rare I go to shambles and order the same dish. There's always something new & interesting to discover. And that's rare when it comes to vegan & vegetarian dishes. Super setting. Good service. Toppy prices - but that keeps the riff raff out.

Shambles by name...& nature. I visited Shambles with friends last night to find they were in full swing with a fish festival. this was a disappointment start as we were looking for Italian food. This restaurant can always be a bit hit and miss, frequently overly salty or poor quality butwoe betide anyone who complains as the management will simpaly argue back and never remove anything from the bill. Our evening was a joke! why change the entire menu when you can't get the first on right? The fish was tired and tasteless - and one of our bable commented on the sour, rancid smell of ammonia emanating from her fish. We left a lot of the food presented to us. The choice was limited and dull. Overpriced showboating springs to mind. The managment are surly and avoid engaging, unless it's to hand a vastly overpriced bill. The guy serving the fish was very miserable and unhelpful and the whole experience was a waste of money and time. we won't be returning.

Was invited to shambles by friends for dinner. Small Italian restaurant on Teddington High Street. Very old fashioned and dark and cosy inside. They had a fish festival on that day. I love Italian food especially their fish dishes. What a disappointment this was. Menu looked good but the chef didn’t deliver .. it didn’t help that there was a stench of fish throughout the whole place. This wasn’t noticeable at first but became unbearable after a while . It is a very small space with not much air circulation . Left feeling ill and smelling of fish. Definitely won’t go back and suggest you avoid.

A really good night at Shambles, my first time, where they were doing a special seafood menu in collaboration with Sandy's. Excellent fresh fish, large choice. The pianist was great in terms of the mood Some of it was little bit pricy, but then fish tends to be, and everything is 30% more over these past three years. Need to get used to it!! Good service and a broad selection of wines. All in all, a lovely meal out.

Food is overpriced I think and a bit pretentious. Left a bad taste in my mouth that I found out management take 75% of the tips. Won’t be returning.

We had very high expectations of this restaurant as it had been been recommended to us. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t live up to them. We found the food to be ok. Average. Under seasoned and underwhelming. Nothing blew us away. The focaccia was probably the highlight. Starters arrived quickly and members of staff were friendly and attentive. We would not return or recommend as we feel the quality of the food did not warrant the high price.

We had the pleasure of experiencing the Seafood Extravaganza organised in collaboration with Sandys the Twickenham Fishmonger. We were greeted by the delightful hostess, the daughter of the founders of the restaurant, and shown to our seats in rhe garden. We were instantly given menus by a delightful waitress and knowing the wine list ordered a bottle of Lugana. From then on everything went as it should, each course was served perfectly and with attention. Meal over, the waitresses's attention was now on the new guests arriving for the extravaganza and we found it difficult to attract the attention of anyone to get another drink. But that was our only complaint, and we left happy.

Everything was OK but we didn't enjoy it as much as we had hoped to. Not helped by a very noisy table next to us. There are other Italian restaurants locally that we prefer.

We went for my birthday with a group of 13 friends and it was lovely. A really special night, which isn't always easy with such a big group. One friend said she found her main course bland, but I had the same thing and thought it was lovely!

Special lunch to celebrate a birthday. It was pouring with rain so we couldn't eat in the pretty garden but at least managed to sit in the covered area near the garden. Food was delicious and service excellent. Tiramisu was worth every calorie! Sea bream, clam chowder and sautéed tiger prawns were all great.

While we enjoyed the food tonight it doesn't seem reasonable to leave us sitting 30 minutes with menus on the table waiting to order dessert/coffee. If it was insanely busy then maybe but it wasn't.

Stopped in for a couple of drinks before dinner. Pleasant service and good Campari spritzes.

Food and especially beer was good. Not cheap, but nice quality and excellent presentation. What I was surprised about was a bill (for 2) with a 12.5% uplift AND an additional request for a tip when paying. I thought it a mistake at the time, but my wife came back with a friend and the same thing happened. I’d like to understand why this is happening.
