Fabulous as ever. Negronis and Americanos to start the evening followed by delicious and generous portions of fantastic seafood and fish.

Lovely restaurant and great service but in my humble opinion, the food is overpriced. We shared a lovely prawn dish but my chicken breast on a bed of indifferent sauce full of lentils without vegetables at over £25 was a let down. The wine at £13 for a small glass was also expensive for what it was. Sorry, but not for me.

Had the most wonderful birthday evening for my husband. The reviews certainly live up to expectation! Margarita and her team gave us a truly magical evening with cocktails, 4 course Italian specialties, complimentary extras, and Maurice on piano! The atmosphere was a wonderful buzz.. our new place for special occasions! Thank you 😊

Stunning, generous Sunday lunch menu in beautiful Al fresco surroundings The Sunday lunch was truly wonderful. The fabulous roast meats, Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes and a great dish of green vegetables was a massively generous portion. I love Porcetta and the crackling was excellent. The starters were great too - prawns in a a garlicky, tomato sauce and a massive focaccia breadbasket. The garden is delightful too as are the staff

This was our second visit to this restaurant. The first time was a lunch with family which we enjoyed outside in the extensive outdoor eating area. This is really the best feature of this restaurant, so we were delighted that the weather was hot for our evening visit. Shambles is an upmarket Italian restaurant. Although there’s an outdoor pizza oven on the premises, it’s not currently offering pizza on the menu. What is on the menu is refreshing Italian food. I very much enjoyed my asparagus starter with beans which was lovely and fresh, and my slim spaghetti main with lashing of shaved truffle. Although it was a fairly standard Friday night, there was an air of celebration amongst our fellow diners, so I would say this is a special occasion destination - in the evenings at least. There aren’t really any drawbacks, although we usually prefer to have pre-dinner drinks at a local pub before dining, whereas the staff seem to be expect guests to have at least one round of pre dinner drinks before ordering, so we had to explain this to them. The menu informs guests that at least two courses must be ordered on a Friday or Saturday night. I ordered a starter and a larger prima course, my husband had a starter and a main, but they seemed a little put out that we didn’t want desert on this occasion. Perhaps we didn’t occupy our table for the expected amount of time.

Our food was enjoyable , however feel that shambles is getting cheeky with their pricing and feel that although the food was nice it doesn't warrant the prices they are currently charging - Service was also very slow between courses , and should be much quicker considering what they are charging one would expect a much quicker service

Came to Shambles for a birthday meal as a treat as it is now pretty expensive. Had a pumpkin starter, a slice of garnished pumpkin which oddly was warm and cold, and cooked and raw in different parts at the same time. I have no idea how the chef managed to achieve this, but it really wasn't nice. The proprietor was very concerned when they saw I hadn't eaten it and apologised profusely when hearing what the issue was. The main then came, ravioli with sauce and filled with Pheasant (might have been another game bird). Absolutely delicious, until I started crunching on bones in the filling. I tried every single piece of ravioli, all had some bones in, a really disappointing way to ruin an expensive meal. Paid the bill and left hungry.

Great food and a lovely restaurant but unfortunately got food poisoning twice from this place. Both times I had pasta so I am not sure if there was something wrong with the dough or their sauce

Lovely garden and a cool place, menu looked good, but it was £17.80 for a glass of the cheapest, and pretty mediocre, rose and a pint of beer. Meh.

Took the wife for a birthday dinner and sat in the garden in beautiful sunshine. What a fabulous meal! She had the veggie risotto and I had the inferno prawns and a perfectly cooked cod dish. Was recommended a great bottle of rose. Service was excellent (as usual). 10 out of 10!

The food here was absolutely delicious. We were a party of 7 and everyone loved their food. Very generous portion as well for a great price (London standards). The pasta main plates were huge! They had a lovely backyard covered with trees which was perfect for a nice sunny day in London without getting too hot. The staff were very attentive and nice. We will be coming back to try more dishes! Highly recommend!

Food too expensive for very small portions, had pasta with monk fish, it was too salty and pasta didn't taste like freshly made as mentioned in the menu, didn't point it out as we had to send focaccia bread back already being too salty and very hard. We were disappointed.

A beautiful genuinely Italian resurant. A great menu of choices the food was fantastic and topped off with fantastic garden dining area you would never guess was there. A hidden gem!

Went for Sunday lunch & had roast beef & Yorkshire Pudding. Beautifully cooked & served with spring veg, that was not overcooked & crunchy roast potatoes. All very delicious!

My wife and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary with our children, spouses and grandchildren in the garden yesterday. Such a magical setting enhanced by spectacular food, wine and service!!! An absolute must for anyone who loves exceptional quality!!!!!

Never disappoints great food, fab wine list with brilliant attentive staff

Perfect all round, and definitely the best restaurant meal I have enjoyed in a long time! The food was delicious, and very gourmet - I had burrata with grapefruit to start, followed by a delicious pasta dish, and pannacotta with rhubarb for dessert. The ambience in the courtyard garden was very relaxed, and we were so pleased to sit outside on one of the first warm evenings of the year.

Booked this place as we were staying in the area, very disappointing., ordered a pasta dish, which was a bit more the al dented, very tough pasta.

Amazing veggies in a gluten free pasta

A great Italian restaurant for pasta and Sunday roasts! We walked in on a Sunday around 2pm without booking and there was availability. We ordered the mixed Sunday roasts and all three meats: beef rump, pork and chicken were all well cooked, but the pork and beef were standing out more to me than chicken. The roasts potatoes were absolutely beautiful, super crispy outside and perfectly fluffy inside. I also loved the option to order a small plate for pasta as a starter, and the flavour was so good (only wish they toned the salt down a little bit as it was too salty for me). 100% recommend and would absolutely go back to try some more pasta dishes

Pasta undercooked but the manager wasn’t having it so that was that! The answer was “that’s how we serve our pasta”. The owner/manager is right and you as the customer is wrong!

Was visiting a friend and she suggested it. These days I'm often dissapointed but not with this. Service was attentive but not invasive. The food was excellent and all the elements of the dishes worked. We had a lovely evening. We'll done!!!

Drinks by the fire with live music. Lovely atmosphere and seems dog friendly too which is how it should be.

Excellent family run modern Italian restaurant. Have been going there for years, and it is consistently good. The vegetarian and vegan dishes are among the best in London. After a perfect dinner there in early December we went back for Christmas lunch and were not in any way disappointed. Great food, superb wine, excellent service, open fires and a warm welcome.

Where do I start, I have fond memories of shambles ever since childhood and have continued to visit as often as possible given I no longer live in the area, however, todays visit was let down by slow service, forgetful staff and while the child portions are extremely generous the same could not be said for an adult main pasta dish, which when queried if the portion placed in front of me was a main portion (starter option available so thought there had been a slight mix up given the child’s portion was of a similar size and another person ordering the same dish had a substantially larger portion) was met with a sharp “yes” from the waitress while she turned to walk away. What made me write this review though, is absolutely no attempt was made to resolve the situation. Sadly we will think twice before returning.

Great selection of wine perfect for pairing with any meal. The food is lovely and is great value for money despite the fact we only go there as a treat. Always worth it!

It's very rare I go to shambles and order the same dish. There's always something new & interesting to discover. And that's rare when it comes to vegan & vegetarian dishes. Super setting. Good service. Toppy prices - but that keeps the riff raff out.

Half Italian restaurant half wine bar - good combination. Great choice of wines, nicely prepared food, open fire, liked it a lot.

Expensive set menu for small portions and not at all special.

Shambles by name...& nature. I visited Shambles with friends last night to find they were in full swing with a fish festival. this was a disappointment start as we were looking for Italian food. This restaurant can always be a bit hit and miss, frequently overly salty or poor quality butwoe betide anyone who complains as the management will simpaly argue back and never remove anything from the bill. Our evening was a joke! why change the entire menu when you can't get the first on right? The fish was tired and tasteless - and one of our bable commented on the sour, rancid smell of ammonia emanating from her fish. We left a lot of the food presented to us. The choice was limited and dull. Overpriced showboating springs to mind. The managment are surly and avoid engaging, unless it's to hand a vastly overpriced bill. The guy serving the fish was very miserable and unhelpful and the whole experience was a waste of money and time. we won't be returning.

Was invited to shambles by friends for dinner. Small Italian restaurant on Teddington High Street. Very old fashioned and dark and cosy inside. They had a fish festival on that day. I love Italian food especially their fish dishes. What a disappointment this was. Menu looked good but the chef didn’t deliver .. it didn’t help that there was a stench of fish throughout the whole place. This wasn’t noticeable at first but became unbearable after a while . It is a very small space with not much air circulation . Left feeling ill and smelling of fish. Definitely won’t go back and suggest you avoid.

A really good night at Shambles, my first time, where they were doing a special seafood menu in collaboration with Sandy's. Excellent fresh fish, large choice. The pianist was great in terms of the mood Some of it was little bit pricy, but then fish tends to be, and everything is 30% more over these past three years. Need to get used to it!! Good service and a broad selection of wines. All in all, a lovely meal out.

Food is overpriced I think and a bit pretentious. Left a bad taste in my mouth that I found out management take 75% of the tips. Won’t be returning.

We had very high expectations of this restaurant as it had been been recommended to us. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t live up to them. We found the food to be ok. Average. Under seasoned and underwhelming. Nothing blew us away. The focaccia was probably the highlight. Starters arrived quickly and members of staff were friendly and attentive. We would not return or recommend as we feel the quality of the food did not warrant the high price.

We had the pleasure of experiencing the Seafood Extravaganza organised in collaboration with Sandys the Twickenham Fishmonger. We were greeted by the delightful hostess, the daughter of the founders of the restaurant, and shown to our seats in rhe garden. We were instantly given menus by a delightful waitress and knowing the wine list ordered a bottle of Lugana. From then on everything went as it should, each course was served perfectly and with attention. Meal over, the waitresses's attention was now on the new guests arriving for the extravaganza and we found it difficult to attract the attention of anyone to get another drink. But that was our only complaint, and we left happy.

Everything was OK but we didn't enjoy it as much as we had hoped to. Not helped by a very noisy table next to us. There are other Italian restaurants locally that we prefer.

We went for my birthday with a group of 13 friends and it was lovely. A really special night, which isn't always easy with such a big group. One friend said she found her main course bland, but I had the same thing and thought it was lovely!

Special lunch to celebrate a birthday. It was pouring with rain so we couldn't eat in the pretty garden but at least managed to sit in the covered area near the garden. Food was delicious and service excellent. Tiramisu was worth every calorie! Sea bream, clam chowder and sautéed tiger prawns were all great.

While we enjoyed the food tonight it doesn't seem reasonable to leave us sitting 30 minutes with menus on the table waiting to order dessert/coffee. If it was insanely busy then maybe but it wasn't.

Food and especially beer was good. Not cheap, but nice quality and excellent presentation. What I was surprised about was a bill (for 2) with a 12.5% uplift AND an additional request for a tip when paying. I thought it a mistake at the time, but my wife came back with a friend and the same thing happened. I’d like to understand why this is happening.

Excellent food, attentive and friendly staff, great atmosphere. Beautiful patio area at the back for dining under a pergola. Really appreciate allowing the gentle hum of conversation provide the atmosphere rather than feeling the need to provide background music in this area.

We ate at Shambles on Thursday and it was a disaster! A situation that should have been much better handled by Shambles and where the behaviour of a group of self-entitled men ruined the night for everyone. We were there for a family dinner to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday. My sons, aged five and ten, were also part of our group. A group of golfers who appeared to be having a celebratory dinner were sat next to us having moved from outside and the 'f' word was constant. We let it go for quite a while and had we been in a bar or pub we might have expected that kind of language. I asked the waitress to politely ask them to tone down the language. She agreed it was excessive and said she would speak to them. She came back and suggested that we move to the bar as her manager would not let her speak to them. It wasn't reasonable to ask us to move to the bar so I was forced to approach them myself. I couldn't have asked them in a nicer way to tone down the language. Apart from one very nice gentleman they mocked me and they became so intolerable that I was forced to leave with the children. After we left a delightful Yorkshireman from the same table came up to my husband, said he was going to knock his block off, and ridiculed us for bringing children to the restaurant. It was a 6.45 booking! Shambles, I hope you manage the next situation better than this one. The group were local so I expect they will be there again. I, for one, will not be back!

So, I booked a table way in advance of my wife's birthday and put the date in the calendar. Problem was I had the wrong date. Realised my mistake and was suitably contrite when speaking to a very kind lady who answered the phone. Even more kindly, she said they wouldn't debit my card for not turning up, which they would have had every right to. This speaks volumes to me, as to their customer service and will definitely be going to enjoy an evening here soon. P.s. don't be a doughnut like me and book and not attend!

Amazing as always, a work reunion after many years away and Shambles hadn't changed a bit. It was a favourite for so many of us and I'm glad to say it was like coming home. A warm welcome and super food, service and atmosphere. Thanks so much for a perfect evening.

Shambles hosted our Teddington Lunch Club Christmas Lunch, for 26 people. We had pre-ordered our food but people were paying separately which meant lots of different tabs to keep track of, which can't have been easy. They handled this really well though. They also were very accommodating in making a last minute food order change. The food and atmosphere was really lovely and the service was great. Thank you, Shambles! We will be back again.

Four of us ate here 25th January. Overall, a very nice restaurant with most of the food being excellent. However, the Venison Ragout with Tagliatelle was very very salty and had an odd musty flavour. I can only conclude that the chef did not check the seasoning and taste the food before it was sent out. Everything else was very good but this is an Italian Restaurant and over salted ragout is inexcusable

Service, food, atmosphere, all brilliant! Definitely going back! A little gem in Teddington!

We had lunch on a chilly day and were seated in front of the cozy fireplace. The service was prompt and attentive, and the food surpassed our expectations. We had heard good things about this restaurant from several of our neighbors, and we were happy to learn that their praise was well deserved. We will come back often!

Lovely place for special occasions. Vegan wines identified on the menu were a great welcomed extra touch. Vegan food options were also very well thought through and delicious.
