After my experience..... thank goodness! I say forget refurb...demolish and start again!...preferably with new owners!Visited 31.7.16 ordered donner meat, as it was advertised as £3, asked if I wanted nan or chips, went for chips. When I got the food, was charged £4.50...they charged £2 for piddly bit of burnt chips.Maybe its me thinking chips or nan is standard with donner across the country!... should've argued about it but on a Sunday, nearly 11pm...no point.....and the food was oily, bland and not worth it if they were giving it away....as the owner said it'll all go in his freezer when they refurb from the 1st of August.

No volveremos otra vez.

Everything was fine, but a little tired and uninspiring. Drab decor with a large TV on (which is fine - I was there for the food). The food was OK but nothing to write home about, not as cheap as it might be for such a mundane experience.

I ate at this joint on 5 occasions during my 2 weeks stay in london for work/pleasure at the hotel next door. Spent new years in London as a 1st timer. Introduced to this place by couple of old friends who have made london home now. This is down as afghan food joint but it's more like indian. I love the lamb ribs at this place they were "marvelicious" (brit accent). Tried curries with rice twice and it was awsome both times.Recommendations:Lamb ghost with lentils +ricechcicken balti, chickpeas & spinach + riceLamb ribs= MUST every time!Staceymansfield, tx.

Been here a couple of times and I am a huge fan of their lamb karahi, so soft and tender. Place could do with brightening up a little but has great food at an excellent price

Look, it was just the first takeaway I found. And I was a little worried when he put some rice and curry in a container and microwaved. But it turned out very good and rich, as did the (unmicrowaved) samosa. Has fresh grills as well. Will return.

Wanting something small to eat after a 'Jack the Ripper' walking tour, we popped into Shahi Karahi solely because of the nice looking food on the grill at the front. Seeing the chef at work is generally a good sign and we weren't disappointed. It's not a fancy 'destination' restaurant, more somewhere to have some nice food and move on, but our grilled King Prawns were tender and tasty, while the tarka dhal was full of flavour. Tandoori roti helped us sop up the dhal and the whole thing was topped off by two very nice lassi's (no alcohol is served). The staff were very friendly and we'd definitely go again next time were in Brick Lane.

The food is no longer fresh. I initially raved about this place when I first went. It is clear that the restaurant are cutting corners and have become extremely complacent. I really thought we had found THE Indian restaurant, bit unfortunately the service quality and hygiene has declined dramatically. Please do not go there anymore.

We grabbed some food from shahi Karahi as a take away last week n I must say ,in terms of currys, though its same food as rest of brick lane but quality n taste is much better, if that makes sense. It's taste fresh, vegetables are not soggy in oil n chicken is not dry from inside. They make any nan on order at front of you , keema nan is all thumbs up from me, What they are best at though ,which you can not find anywhere on brick lane is the grilled food. Very nice, succulent and tasty. A good takeaway. Recommended!!!!

I have had to come to london 7 times in the last 14months for work and did not discover this gem of a place since my 3rd visit. Staying In the hotel next door I knew I wasn't far off brick lane but late evening after a long day , didn't fancy going far out .... Anyway that was the first time and never looked back since! Whenever I'm in london or anywhere near , I pretty much guarantee a visit to this place!!! BBQ chicken, lamb , sheek!!!! Curries , naan breads, rice biryanis, shawrma kebabs !!! I can go on about this place all day but the bottom line is you got to try it to find out!!! If ever in london this place is a MUST go. It's a restaurant at the back , which is little tricky to notice but not just a take away. I can only recommend what I have had so 10/10 for bbq chicken n lamb chops and curries try the lamb shank curry !!!! AMAZING, Still working through the menu. Service - 8/10 ,atmosphere - 9/10. , food-10/10, value-10/10,

This was my second trip to Shahi Karachi for lunch (Monday). Last time (9 months) It was a good budget lunch meal (which I would have rated 4 star) when I accompanied a friend who spoke Urdu. This time I ordered a whole roast baby chicken for lunch (£5.99)on the bone re-heated on charcoal and was cut into four pieces. however this time I could find 2 legs, one chicken breast with its breast bone and one chicken breast bone without its chicken breast fillet. So I queried the waiter and asked what happened to the other chicken breast fillet as a chicken has 2 legs and 2 breast pieces when quartered. I laid the chicken quarters on its plate and I showed a waiter how one chicken breast has an inch thick breast meat on the bone but the other breast piece just has the rib cage bone but no breast fillet attached! This waiter assured me that the meat was there when the plate was clearly showing two chicken legs, one breast fillet on bone and the other was just the flat chicken rib cage! So I called the "boss" to come to have a look at the two breasts. I was lost for words when he confirmed everything was there and reasoned that the look was due to the way it was cut! Having lost for words I decided to cut my losses and proceed to eat in this lunch hour. The chicken meat itself was overnight roast chicken (on spit)left over from Saturday or Sunday reheated on charcoal so it was dry and cardboardy. After paying the bill in full, as I walked out I explained to another shop worker that I was disappointed that a quarter part of the chicken was missing. He was the guy that charcoal'ed the baby chicken in the front. He too also said the whole chicken was there. Anyway there is no need to get too stressed up over a chicken breast as this will be my last meal here since neither there is quantity nor quality. Maybe the chicken has had breast surgery at the Royal Free Hospital nearby? Maybe the missing fillet went to another tray , who knows but it was sure not on my plate! I also ate a lamb tikka. The lamb tikka (£4)was tough, dry and sinewy (3 chunks of lamb)and had the chewy factor and mosture content very similar to overnight cooked lamb reheated. It was so unlike how I expected it (succulent when freshly charcoal'ed) because it was raw lamb on a skewer when I picked this from their cabinet. The nan bread was fabulous as it was fresh dough in a clay oven freshly baked to order. I suspected that the spit roast chickens would taste better at the weekend when the restaurant is busier. But on Monday I believed we were eating the left over from the weekend... so not very nice to have dried left over spit roast to be re-heated again on a charcoal grill.

As a couple who had been frequently disappointed with the quality of indian food on offer at Brick lane, Shahi Karahi has really taken us by surprise, and is a complete breath of fresh air! The quality and authenticity of the food at Shahi Karahi is second to none on Brick Lane. ALL the food is freshly prepared, including the poppodoms that are freshly prepared as opposed to being preprepared hours in advance leaving them stale. The chicken tikka and seekh kebabs were absolutely delicious. As an indian couple who regularly eat out and are well aware of what authentic indian cooking should taste like, this place really raises the bar from any other that we have visited not only on Brick lane, but generally in London. The service was fantastic, the portion sizes extemely generous and the price was great value for money bearing in the mind the high quality of food on offer! Please go, you will not be disappointed!

We usually buy from Roosters and had never had an issue. Yesterday I ordered wings and fries for my son and he had food poisoning. When we arrived home, I tried the chips and they were not as fresh as usual. I should have trusted my instinct!! He was sick all night and we almost went to A&E. I am never ordering again!

Such an amazing deal, only £11.20 for a huge plate of food with a tea or coffee included. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, clean, everything cooked fresh etc. If I lived locally I’d be coming every weekend!
