Sekushi in Hertsmere

This restaurant used to be our favourite local eaterie. Not now. The food standards have deteriorated markedly since April 2024. I was so disappointed, I am writing to the management to complain. It’s not a cheap restaurant but when the food was superb it didn’t matter. To pay for food that was sub standard makes things worse. I won’t bother going again.

Have visited this restaurant twice now. Both times food was excellent. Lovely flavours and beautifully presented. Tried new dishes both times. Staff were friendly and professional

No warmth in their service at all. The funny thing is you know they're talking about you when one says something and the other one looks at the table for absolutely no reason. The veg menu is minimal and there are better choices with a good restaurant not too far. My son asked rather politely what were the soft drinks options and all the guy, assuming the manager did was tap at the menu, as in read it yourself. All my son wanted to know was if there were the usual soft drinks apart from the fancy ones they had in their menu. Needless to say paying the £11 for the service without the smile was not worth and food was average, nothing to shout about. Other reviews, I agree with as in service being rubbish. Take order, bring plates, that's it. Interact with guests, ask if the food was good, did you enjoy it etc

Food was very average, the duck in the bao rolls tasted stale and reheated. No atmosphere due to place only having two tables occupied including us.

I have eaten in this restaurant and had take away on a number of ocassions. The food is good, always fresh and tasty, but it is not cheap, with a portion of Miso Black Cod costing more than £24 but it is very good. My word of warning is that they offer 10% discount on click and collect ONLY. I collected my meal this evening but forgot to click, and when I asked about the discount, I was told politely but firmly that it only applied if you ordered online. I am not sure what the difference is ordering online and collecting, but that is their rule. Would it stop me getting food from there again, maybe.

A group of 4 of us came for dinner on a Wednesday night. Quite simply put the food was incredible, and it was matched with wonderful customer service from the staff. For anyone that wants to have an enjoyable dining experience and very very good I couldn’t recommended this place enough. We will most definitely be going back.

Third time we have had takeaway meals from this outstanding restaurant. The food is beautifully packed in a classy branded carrier bag. Included are chop sticks, soy sauce, wasabi and pickled ginger . Everything looks so attractive and well presented. We have eaten Japanese food many times in various restaurants here and overseas. Sekushi is amongst the best. Consider ourselves lucky to have a top class restaurant within walking distance

Always wonderful food and such a lovely and excellent team of staff. We love going there. We highly recommend it for lunch or dinner

Food was good but there was a really loud white, English man with an ‘Essex-like’ or Watford accent with tatoo(s) on his right arm working in the kitchen. He swore a lot in a very confrontational and aggressive manner very loudly. He spoke about someone in a very threatening manner for everyone in the restaurant to hear. At first I thought he was threatening another staffer. Even though he wasn’t speaking to me it felt threatening. It ruined my experience and he continued to swear loudly even though it was obviously within earshot of the whole restaurant and children. I won’t be returning to the restaurant. Most unprofessional and aggressive behaviour I’ve ever seen in a restaurant. I regret going but all the other staff were fine.

My husband and I invited our parents and brother and sister in law for dinner here and we were very disappointed. Although the vegetarian sushi and agadashi tofu were good, the service was the worst we have seen in a while. No smiles, putting plates down heavily on the table in front of us, talking to us like it was a chore, it was shocking. The miso aubergine was cooked well but tasted of nothing, as did the cauliflower bites. The mushroom bao buns had no sauce and tasted bland. I wouldn't waste your money here. Maybe do a takeaway for the sushi but definitely don't bother going in person.

California roll excellent take away . Been there before didn’t like service so tried take away . Excellent food. Went there in summer same Lady as toulous cafe as owner .very worried about per head table Cost lol. But can’t fault the food

Small restaurant on Bushey high street but food was excellent. Fresh, full of flavour of really good portions. When your only negative is the size of the tables you’ve found a good one. Will definitely be a regular customer.

Best sushi ever Highly recommended tuna with jalapeño was amaizing.Lovely service and atmosphere very nice

I just returned home from a dinner to celebrate by daughters great school report but our evening was sadly spoiled by awful service. From the moment we walked in the two waitresses looked like they didn’t want to be there and that was made evident in their service. It’s a real pity because the food was great ! This is not the time to dish out bad and unfriendly service !!!!

Went to the restaurant as a party of 5 and found the service very poor .we all was made to feel that we wasn’t the type of clientele that was wanted there . The waiter was surly and no assistance was offered when asking about what dishes would compliment others. Also I personally had the contents of my main dish was spilled on my arm and clothes and the response was oh don’t know how that happened. And finally when I paid the bill in cash I noticed that there was a 12.5% service so put the correct cash rounded up to the nearest pound the changed the 24pence was slammed on the table ,in my younger days I would have had something to say about the attitude shown . On a positive note the food was good and portions generous but not sure I will go back again
