Seagull Hotel in Bridgend

Tried this place for the first time and I’m really glad I did. The food was delicious—everything came out fresh, flavorful, and cooked just right. Definitely a step up from the usual. Service was friendly and laid-back in the best way. Staff were helpful without being pushy, and everything ran smoothly even though it was pretty busy.

Food was lovely and fresh, the only issue we had was the attitude of the young Leo Sayer look alike when I returned frozen cheesecake. His attitude was disgusting, back answering me then finally laughing, this kid needs a dose of reality and needs training in customer relations or just sack him.

A fantastic local pub with a great atmosphere! The Seagull in Porthcawl is a lovely place to relax with friends or family. The staff are always welcoming and friendly, creating a really comfortable and down-to-earth vibe. The food is delicious and great value for money—perfect for a casual meal or a quick bite. There’s a good selection of drinks, and the service is always fast and attentive. Whether you’re a local or just visiting the area, The Seagull is definitely worth a stop. A real community favourite!

Just went for tea - will give a wide berth for a while until the food is back on par. 5 for tea , first off no steak , no mixed grill , no chicken strips - so fish and chips , burger , hunters chicken , lasagna, pop corn chicken - skin on fries ? yes please! Or so we thought …. Cod not cooked, cold inside , chips not cooked (no skin on fries - not available but ordered) hunters chicken was a joy to behold (children’s portion x 2? - see photo ) was cold too - lasagna edible , burger edible , popcorn chicken - make it yourself at home and save yourself some cash. We gently let the bar staff know - who were very blunt and not interested and just barked at me- do you want a refund? - well yes but come and speak to us - we can show you ! Not really interested in helping us to be honest - we had a refund but not a great experience - another family had issues in there tonight too - maybe an off night , maybe a team in training ? Not great all round - proper disappointing - will be back ? of course it’s our local and we have drank there for 28 years (if I’m not banned after tonight ) will we eat there again - not for a while .

Really gutted this evening. Popped over the seagull for a cheeky tea, only to be told that they weren’t serving food as the chef had decided to stop cooking and shut the kitchen. Not a great impression to make, to customers 👎🏻

Amazing local pub, stumbles across this gem completely by accident. Recently moved to the area, the manager was so friendly and welcoming and he recommended a nice real ale. Food was of good quality too....

Went over this morning at at 11.20am and it was all shut. When on website it states it opens at 11.00am very disappointed 😞.

I would not go here again. The only good thing I would say is it allowed us to take our dog into the bar area.

Service slow especially as we had booked and pre-ordered food. Bar staff did not know how to make an expresso coffee had to tell them. Salt and chilli kebab slimy tasteless with a wet flatbread. Bar tenders blatantly lie to other customers when they tried to order food telling them they did not expect to be that busy but we had booked our party so they did know they would be busy!!

Not so good this week the food was terrible I will not eat there again.

Come here every Friday for the quiz with my family, we enjoy it so much! Dylan is a great quiz master and makes the quiz really fun for all. Amy is great behind the bar and managing all the goings on. Food is also really nice and service is amazing.

Worst food I have ever eaten . Mixed grill missing food of it. !! Hunters chicken missing bacon chicken wings to share 8 pound for 4 which where over cooked. Told member of staff no offer of refund and told they had a new chef and would pass our comment to they're manager

Unfortunately the food being supplied is not consistent and some of the team need additional training. Hopefully when the new chef is recruited and the staff have been trained on deserts and rhe coffee machine it will be back to the excellent food we had last month.

Lots on the menu were not available. The food that we had was average , not great .

Always friendly staff and atmosphere, food is great, price is excellent. 100% recommend. Family friendly and everyone is approachable.

I recently visited the seagul and I had an excellent experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal with a very clean space. The service was outstanding, with the staff being attentive and friendly throughout our visit. Overall, it was a delightful dining experience, and I highly recommend this pub to anyone looking for good food and great service.

Lovely pub clean and tidy and very friendly atmosphere. Management and staff very nice and make you feel welcome. Food was great would recommend and be calling again.

Very poor place. Outside needs to be more presentable e.g grass needs cutting, tables need some tlc. The food was okay not like it use to be We were a table of 4, 3 of us nearly finished our meal before they brought the 4th one out. No apology of the waiter we won't be going back there which is a shame.

Absolute top quality Sunday Dinner served here. The staff were AMAZING and very happy to help. The chef was friendly too! We only had one course… beef and turkey. I had the turkey. It had lots of flavour and plenty of it. The yorkshires were massive! And I can’t lie, I’ve never tasted gravy like it before. Absolute 10/10. Would go back everytime, extra bonus, only ten minutes from treco bay

A lovely smiling welcome from the bar staff at this busy pub - lovely to experience on a Monday evening. Lots in for food. Darts game going on in next bar and locals at the bar. Meal was perfectly cooked and served. Well priced with lots of variety. Kids Menu available - no kids in when we were.

I was thinking of staying on the Gower BUT (as it was the start of the Easter 🐣 holiday season) the whole area was RAMMED FULL 🙈 I phoned The Seagull Inn and asked if I could stay in my Motorhome on their property……NO PROBLEM !!……was the reply……and am I glad I did! Food was lovely 😊 and, after a brisk (breezy) walk along the Wales Coast Path, I returned to the bar and enjoyed a few pints of REALLY GOOD GUINNESS along with the company of some of the wonderfully welcoming locals Thoroughly enjoyed a peaceful evening and a good night’s sleep, parked up on their flat and spacious car park

New landlord is absolutely fabulous. So welcoming and personable and I hope he is successful. This is my local pub but the previous tenants have been exceptionally poor. Lovely food for a change.

We arrived without a booking as we only just stumbled upon this pub whilst out for a drive. We walked up to the bar and stood there for for a short while and weren't even acknowledged by person wiping down the bar so walked across to a table to look at the menu and again someone came across to tidy up a table without acknowledging us so we just thought it wasn't a friendly pub and decided to go elsewhere for lunch. I should mention that the pub wasn't busy. Shame really as there was a good choice of food and ales

Me and my mother law and friends visited today , from the second we went to order food it all fell apart , ordered starter ,main and dessert for the both of us , first off the starter I ordered wasn’t what was described on the menu, burned cheese bits lettuce was funny colour , then the main came , I ordered the hunter chicken , I had no choice but to send it back . The chicken was slimy and just didn’t look cooked , 12 chips and quarter of a tomato with 3 pieces of lettuce just was ridiculous to say the least , for our dessert we ordered ice cream Sundays, what turned up was 3 scopes of ice cream no sauce , we did want jam sponge or chocolate fudge cake , but they said they didn’t have any there , The restaurant had just opened and the service we received was shocking to say the least , no apologies not even given a full refund.

Unfortunately we had a poor experience on Christmas day. We thoroughly enjoyed it last year and so booked again for this year. There was a large family group of us. This year, the pub had two sittings. We were booked in for the second one at 2 pm. This did not allow enough time, and tables were still occupied and, as a result, could not be cleared and reset with new cutlery, etc. We were served our starters at 3.30 pm. These were served haphazardly, with no table having all of their food at the same time. The main courses were worse. My son and I had finished our food before my husband and other son received their food. We would normally wait for everyone to be served before starting, but food would have been cold had we done this. Some members of our party had to leave before dessert was served at 5.30 pm and so missed out. To be fair to The Seagull, they did say they would refund an amount to cover the cost. A number of our party who were the last to receive their food did not have some items, such as sprouts, parsnips, etc, so portion control was also an issue. All in all, it's really disappointing.

Had our annual Christmas Night out @ The Seagull last night, the food was beautiful, excellent service by all the Team. Thoroughly recommend a visit.

Quality of food has improved since new owners have taken over. Quiz was excellent as usual and a lovely atmosphere with Halloween decorations and lights.

Lovely warm welcome from Sarah and all the staff, asked if possible if we stayed over night in their car park in our motorhome as we wanted to eat and have a drink, of course they said it's no problem. Had a lovely meal and drinks and joined in with the quiz night, all the locals were really friendly. The menu was good with plenty of choices, they also served coffee, the bar and a corner in the lounge was dog friendly. So nice in fact we stayed 2nights The rest bay and coast path is 10min walk away. Will definitely be back. Thankyou everyone at he seagull inn

Had the best food and drinks at the Seagull porthcawl! Our experience was truly made by the wonderful Charlotte who really put in the extra mile to make our experience so special.

The food here is amazing and there’s a good selection of drinks. The staff are all really friendly, Charlotte (I believe her name is) went out of her way to make sure that we had an enjoyable experience and quick service.

Great pub with great food and service, was well looked after by Charlotte. Will be coming back!

Having eaten here before and been disappointed I was much impressed with the improvement

I ate here recently and found the staff to be absolutely delightful. When I mentioned that I don’t eat meat, they recommended the veggie burger. I was hesitant because I often find veggie burgers to be dry & limp but, my goodness, I’m so glad I trusted them and ordered it. It’s in my top two of veggie burgers that I have ever consumed. Washed down with a delicious Pimms. 5 out of 5 Seagull 👍🏼

I ordered a large fish and chips, my wife ordered a meat pie and chips, both from the main menu, not the lunch menu. When the food came the fish was only medium size and both meals had the smallest serving of peas and chips. The container of mayonnaise with the fish and chips had obviously been served to someone else the day before and not used as it had a grey dry surface and a pea embedded in it. We have been on previous occasions and had much better food. We will not be returning.

We had the Christmas lunch for three the other day and the food was really good especially for pub food. It was from the special Christmas menu. The Service was fast, friendly and cheerful.

We went for a Christmas dinner. Staff were amazing and the food OK.

Such a shame, booked our annual Christmas meal here today, had to wait nearly 2 hours for our main course, there was also a craft fair there, which we weren't informed about when making the booking. The food was all overdone, burnt and hard. My salad was well past its sell by date, my husband ordered the festive pie which was dry and came with very lumpy gravy and a black burnt pig in blanket, that what we thought it was but was not sure! The staff were lovely though.

Pleasant local pub, but last twice visited, waited over an hour for our food.. Cheap cheerful meals , but last one consisted of overcooked “steak” pie which contained mostly gristle , inedible , portions drastically reduced too. Staff apologetic and had free tea / coffee , but not a good Sunday lunch experience .

Visited December 6th for Christmas Dinner with friends. Could’nt fault service and the food and presentation was very good. Visit regularly and shall definitely be back.
