I had a wonderful, fun time at a rodeo themed Prosecco afternoon tea party with my friends in this beautiful hotel. It could not have been better. Very well thought out cowboy decor, so much fresh, tasty food, excellent DJ Paul T and the staff, as always, were amazing 🤩 10/10 team Seafield 🤠 👏🏻👏🏻

Lovely friendly hotel. Check in was very efficient with a nice ambiance. The room was modern decorated and very clean. It was expensive for Room only as you pay similar in city hotels with a dinner & breakfast included but we will still be back for a return visit.

Had dinner in the bar area with my 2 daughters , son , son in law , grandson (18 today) and my granddaughter. Drinks were ordered and arrived, 2 cocktails one if which was accidently split all down the back of my daughter by the young man serving. He was apologetic and helped clean up the mess although my daughter had to now sit in a cold wet dress. No other member of staff or service in "authority " came over. The food service was terrible with my son being served another customers steak which was then taken away and served to the right table. When the food was served mostly all together, service didn't know who to give the 3 steaks ordered to and when asked what the sauces were , said one of then was CHEESE. Was told it should be whisky and said it could be he didn't know. This was my first experience of the Seafield and sadly will be my last. The lack of professionalism, attention to detail and blatant lack of training was unforgivable. Depending on the cleaning instructions for my daughters cocktail soaked dress the Seafield Arms can expect a dry cleaning bill, which they should have offered in the first place.

Starter (chicken skewers) and main (chicken korma penne pasta) were very good. Now I love my dessert so when I ordered strawberry meringue roulade I expected to get a meringue roll with cream and strawberries. What I got was like an arctic roll. Sponge rolled up with strawberry cream/icecream and it was frozen. Not sure if it was meant to be. Explained to the server after everyone had finished theirs (I had eaten some of mine as I wasn’t sure what it was to begin with) but he only apologised. Wish I had taken something else as the other desserts looked good.

Disappointing! Travelled with our family to Cullen to have Cullenskink and unfortunately it was terrible. I did pass on my disappointment to the waitresses, but got the impression my opinion wouldn’t be passed on to management as I’d requested. The hotel is lovely and it’s a shame the food let it down.

I came here for the Cullen skink and it was absolutely amazing! I am still thinking about it days later. A really lovely lunch, many thanks.

We have visited the Seafield Arms Hotel restaurant several times but not for dinner and by large the experience had been good. However a recent visit for dinner with family up from the south of England was less than satisfactory. First the positive, our waiter was enthusiastic, keen and polite. Turning to the food, our starters were OK but the main course fell well short of acceptable, all four of us had the Smoked Black Angus Gold Fillet with Cherry Smoked Duck, (£33.90), I like to think I have a reasonable palate but couldn't distinguish between the beef and the duck, both elements were over cooked and dry consequently we mentioned it to the waiter. He returned after speaking to the Chef saying its the way he cooks it, which raised our eyebrows. We don't normally write to a restaurant/hotel but we felt it appropriate on this occasion, we received a holding email response stating the 'management' would revert, some 10 days later we are still waiting, which I think is appalling and hence this review. We will not be returning to the Seafield A few days later we took our guests to a restaurant in Inverness for a meal of roughly the same value c£300 for 4 and the response from them to the meal was that they would fly from the south coast just to go back to that restaurant as was the best meal they had in a long time

Thoroughly enjoyed the meal in the bistro. I had small fish and chips, partner had Cullen Skink as main meal. We shared cheese and biscuits. Very relaxed - service prompt but not rushed. The menu was varied and covered for dietry requirments very well.

Bar 19 had 2 lovely gents as barman & waiter. Very polite. Didn’t have long to wait for order. Food was just lovely and tasty, and presented well. Hubby had Cullen skink soup as a starter, and said it was the best he had ever tasted , thick and chunky.

I have been here a few times with different companions, and have had mixed experiences. Sometimes the staff are lovely and couldn't be more helpful and accommodating, and sometimes they are quite offhand. The first time I had lunch here, the soup was tinned (or tasted as if it was!), although the bread was nice enough. The second time, we had delicious fish. The third time, the food was fine but the portions were very meagre. I am also in two minds about the decor. It is clean and freshly done, and some original features have been retained, but I remember this hotel as it used to be, and feel it's a shame that much of its original charm has been lost. Now it's just like any other 'boutique' hotel. Sadly, many Georgian and Victorian hotels like this are being 'boutiqued' - I think they must all use the same interior designer who thinks 'Okay, it's Scotland, let's go heavy on the stags and tweeds.' I miss the ambience of a traditional, upmarket country hotel with roaring fires and real antiques and its own individual style. They have retained one of the fireplaces, but it no longer functions. Shame.

Nothing actually bad about the food, but I don't know why you would pay £30+ for fairly traditional main courses. The cooking is fine, but without finesse or artistry that one might expect at such elevated prices. Basically meat and two (overcooked) veg. All dishes...

FAB Sunday bar lunch here served by very friendly, professional, staff. Hubby had the fish & chips and declared the chips “the very best I’ve had in a long time”. I went for the roast chicken, which was delicious. We shared a sticky toffee pudding served with ice cream & caramelised banana-amazing!! and finished off with coffee and extremely creamy & delicious autumnal fudge. We had our two small dogs with us and they immediately brought over a dog bed and asked if they’d like a water bowl. Great service for us humans and our four legged friends. I highly recommend this lovely revamped hotel.

On travelling through the area I visited Ballater village and found this little gem. I found the surroundings very unique and enjoyable. I had a pot of tea and a cake which was yummy. I found the staff were helpful the environment was clean tidy and organised. I believe the coffee is great too! So if you are in the area definitely check it out 🙂

This is a fabulous hotel with great service and fantastic views. We had the room at the top of the house and the view was stunning. Dinner was exceptional and delicious. The whole house has been renovated to a very high standard. We would thoroughly recommend it if you are looking for somewhere to stay in the area.
