Sea Shell Fish Bar in Hertsmere

We ordered online on a v busy Saturday. The web site said 45 mins and it arrived just a little later. Something on my order didn't go through so I rang them up and added it. As they were so busy, it was missed on delivery but I rang them and they dropped it straight here. Customer service 100% Food is fab Thank you Sea Chef!

Sorry to say ...not nice at all. The chips were cold and raw. The fish was over cooked and tasted of old oil. Would not recommend this place. Waste of money - straight in the bin.

I always buy from here as the fish is a nice size and very tasty so are the chips and the portions are large I get small chips for 2 people and still have some left over

My kids went in to order sausage + chips this evening just as one of the two long-time staff (owners?) came out to smoke a cigarette. At this point I was waiting outside in the car and I watched the old boy finish his cigarette and walk back into the shop. I followed him in and noticed he was immediately handling food - it could have been my kids' food - but he didn't wash his hands first! Disgusting! I told both the staff how UNHYGIENIC that is (do they not have basic food hygiene training?) and I promptly pulled my kids out. Now I'm wondering when else do they not wash their hands...yuck! We will NOT be going in there ever again.

The best fish and chip shop in Potters Bar. I have been buying Fish and chips from the Seashell for my family for over 30 years! They never let you down and the food is always freshly cooked.

Delishious Fish and Chips every time. I hear they may have some competition from the newer rivals but having been com,ing here for years its a firm favourite.

The fish and chips here is very nice. Good is value for money and close to home which is great. Mount grace children get chips for £1 which is lovely when my child is walking home

Great chips, but fish is very thin, greasy and disappointing. Sausages are good tho! We would go back but not for fish.

Lovely gents serving the best Fish'n'Chips in Potters bar. Hardworking business selling really nice selection of food. I'm vegan so only hubby has the fish - but we travel in from our village to buy his fish from this place - which is saying something!

So disappointed.We had looked forward to a special treat of fish and chips. Some of us had sausage and chips. Very very greasy and unpleasant. Would not recommend this place. Waste of money buying food here.

I've been going to the Sea Shell for decades. Their spare ribs used to be second to none. After my visit this week it would take a lot to get me back, which is extremely sad after I've given them my custom all these years. The ribs were fatty and greasy. They didn't taste anything like they used to. The old owners used to cook them in a rotisserie, not deep fry them. My grandsons cod was grey, my daughter's chicken was dry and nasty and our chips were warm and nothing like their usual standard. £22 doesn't cut it for grotty food. Such a shame as I'd told my daughter it was the best chippy for miles. It's sad when things change for the worse.

I use this chippie occasionally as its local to me but its too hit and miss for my liking. Sometimes its ok but other times the chips are too greasy. It is also too expensive for what it is (Peters pies, chip prices etc) and none of the food compares in quality to Harringtons (although Harringtons is a little more expensive)

Not bad but personally I prefer other chip shops in Potters Bar. I don't find the chips as crispy as I would like or a thick enough batter. That said my sister prefers this one for the same reasons!

Have been going here for years! The staff have been running this place for over 20years... This is our local Chippy! Other chip shops in Potters Bar serve their food in polystyrene boxes, Sea Shell still serve in wrapped paper! Agree with other comments that fish and chips no longer cheap, but this is a sign of the times.... However, they serve a range of white fish and some are large enough to share.... Will continue to buy my chips here!

Lovely chips, pucks pies are nice, sausages can sometimes seem as if they were there since lunch time, I've had the chicken from there two times now and both times had blood in it. Can be hit and miss.

Compré un bacalao y patatas fritas que me costó 7,00 . Las patatas fritas eran viejos y no muy cálido y la porción era lamentable. El pescado era viejo y me quedé decepcionado con la calidad global y NUNCA allí de nuevo. Deberían avergonzarse de llamar nosotros un negocio. No se puede recomendar a mis amigos.

Had a group of Scouts camped at the nearby Tolmers Scout site and on the last day Fish and chips was on the menu. The closest chip shop to Tommers let us down, so after a quick search we found this place, roughly 8 minutes up the road Despite putting in a big order they were able to cope, the fish/chips etc were excellent and well cooked ( not greasy ) and the staff were polite and friendly. We phoned in advance to let them know and they said no problem, they even told us in advance that they dont take card payment, so we were able to come prepared with cash.
