Had carryout food, it was excellent with good portion sizes, will definitely get out of Sea Palace again when staying locally

Handy place for carry out Chinese food, but cash only.

It was a very nice curry, very relaxed atmosphere. Great to BYO.

Would rate 0 if I could, the two staff at the front desk was coughing everywhere and going outside to be sick, they just talked about the food being stinking and getting wiped off there heads. Staff was rude it was a young girl and boy. Customer service was ridiculous, the boy then had make cheeky remarks to us leaving

My friends and I came here the other evening and the restaurant was fully seated and the atmosphere was great! I think the big table was a birthday party and the staff handled it very well! We got our starters very promptly and the waiter was very friendly and attentive! 10/10 food 10/10 service Couldnt fault the meal at all and its BYOB!!

Food is great. They really need to redecorate. Been same for about 20 years. Could be cleaner too. If was renovated it would be packed inside.

Chef can’t cook at all, raw chips, rediculous prices , not worth it. Wont be getting anymore.

Very over priced menu. very misleading. All mains priced at £9.80 which you would assume comes with a bit of rice or chips as a side. This infact is not the case, you are charged extra for this and and an amusing £2.80 cost for a ridiculously small portion of sauce so was quite the shock when paying the bill. Wasnt sure if the staff were actually waiter's or general public as the waiter was dressed in a tracksuit. Our order was taken on a mobile phone as no pen. I won't be visiting again and would not recommend it. Shocking prices.

Arrived just as it opened on a weekend so no issue with seating. Later arrivals had a wait but we'll worth the wait No problem finding nice options that were meat free. Good nice tasty well presented dishes could have happily had more. Service eclectic but none the worse for that. There is no alcohol licence but there is relaxed attitude to brining your own in. Very busy takeaway and delivery service but that did not slow down service. All in all very nice experience

My husband ordered a takeaway for the 2 of us....a king prawn curry/rice for me and he had chicken balls/ curry sauce. Normally I am satisfied with the quality of food, but this evening the onions were raw and totally inedible. I took a photo, but there is no facility to upload it here. Didn't even bother to phone and explain, because after reading the reviews, I doubt I would get much satisfaction. Do the owners/ mangt even read these reviews?

Worst Chinese food ever. There was no prawns in the Special fried rice and the satay sauce looked terrible and didn't taste like satay. No boiled rice was served with my wife's food and when we enquired we were told it was an extra. I would also question your cash only policy as thus was not made known when we sat down to order. The only thing pleasant was the attitude of the young lady who took our order

As a chinese woman myself i have no idea how this kitchen can mess their food up into garbage..food not only in a very small portion..but also taste very bad it taste like soy sauce add water, and add flour to thicken the sauce into slimy standard..it was so shxx that i wouldnt even feed my dogs with it..this place is a joke really..this is the worst chinese Ive had in Northern Ireland.

Had a carryout while staying in Newcastle. Ordered s+s chicken. Duck in plum sauce. Chicken curry and chicken fried rice. service was fast and came with a complimentary large bag of prawn crackers. Food was piping hot and very tasty. Ordered and served by pleasant staff. Well done sea palace.

The Sea Palace has been a regular haunt for my wife and I for a long time and this was the first time we were disappointed. The place was empty when we arrived and the waiter gabbled incessantly at us. The food arrived quickly but it was nowhere near the quality we have been used to at the Sea Palace over the last 30 years. The food was so hot I began to wonder if it had been microwaved. But the flavour, the sauces, nothing was as good as it used to be. Every place can have an off day so I'll not write it off yet but I'll not be rushing back and will watch the reviews closely before venturing back in.

I'm giving this Chinese Restaurant 1* Star on the basis that our telephone number was barred - despite having been loyal customers for years, ordering takeaways from here regularly at weekends. We ordered a takeaway last weekend and could not find our money, and we got into a panic. The delivery driver was very ignorant over the phone, and I was very embarrassed as this had never happened to me before. They don't accept cards for some reason, and we would have been able to use this payment method had they accepted it. They barred us on this occasion and I think it was unjust as I previously said we always were loyal and often give tips. Disgrace.

Food was lovely, staff very helpful and couldn't do enough for us. Nice cosy atmosphere. 😊

As the. Only. Sit in chinese restaurant in newcastle i find it good enuff for eating in or taking out. And the food good value.. The staff are attentive and friendly Hasnt changed much over the years Portions are good.

Eh this was the most surreal dining experience I've had. The staff were lovely and very helpful, the takeaway is right beside the restaurant so they're taking orders while you're trying to eat, very noisy, absolutely freezing, food wasn't great. The special chow mein had some weird goopy sauce with it, we were all looking at eachother like is this happening 🙈 judging by the reviews people seem to love their food, maybe we had a bad day....? 😆

Big portions, very tasty, great value. Decor a little dated, but don't let that put you off. Staff friendly and helpful. Eat in restaurant was busy and phone didn't stop ringing for take out.

Omg there fried milkyway bar is amazing

After tonight I'm not very pleased .I arrived to order my food and found a wee girl 👧 very upset she was working and took my order .as I waited the girl was having a talk with another customer I couldn't help overhearing why she was upset the owner came out of the kitchen shouting at her and making her feel worthless needless to say I won't be in any hurry back .He needs to learn how to treat his staff

Touch and go...got chicken and mushroom and it was b e a utiful but couple of weeks befor got chicken fried rice and it was v dry. 100% for delivery and heat though.

Spring Roll was tasty, but not much meat. Gravy chip was ok, but not enough gravy so quite dry. Sadly the mains (Chicken Chow Mein & Special Fried Rice) were both bland and so dry. Considering the lack of flavour £24 seemed very overpriced. There are much better take away options in Newcastle.

Friendly service, food was great and tasted freshly cooked we couldn't fault it. The people on here complaining must not have eaten in the Sea Palace. The decor a bit dated but that added to the atmosphere! Even the customers were friendly! 😝

we had been spending a couple of days in Newcastle and went with the option for eating out / takeaway while we here for evening meals. been reading many review sites about the Sea Palace and to be fair there are a mix of reviews. however we gave it a chance and glad we did. we got a takeaway and took back to where we staying. the food was very good and would highly recommend. there was plenty of others in ordering and picking up collections while we awaited our food. we had chicken satay and beef curry and was on excellent in comparison to same meals in our usual favourite takeaways at home.

Went to sea palace for take away.would not recommend this Chinese restaurant to anyone.ordered salt and chilli chiChen it was uneatable the batter was cooked numerous times so was like rubber.the chicken was tainted due to repeated cooking.I phoned and made complaint the owner was meant to ring me still waiting almost week later.disgraceful.madeline.mckeever.

Food lovely but you have to take it as it is. Very basic, not licensed and although we arrived at 10.30 pm they didn't close until 11.45 but they were mopping the floor around you.

No vegetarian / vegan option . not one that can be guaranteed to not be cooked withmeat

Went and ordered a beef curry with no Veg and other meals the man at the desk confirmed my order and then when I arrived home 10min drive to plate up the beef curry had peas and loads of onions the fried rice was very pale and must have just seen the wok , very disappointed I wont be returning for a beef curry !

Cheap and cheerful - very tasty food and family-friendly with great size kids portions. Good value and happy all round.

Went in here on impulse. We were pleasantly surprised. We had duck udon and the Japanese spring rolls. Both were delicious.

Took my mum and dad here for Father's day. Friendly staff, quick service and food was really delicious. Also not very expensive and major bonus you can bring your own wine. Yes the decor remains unchanged since the 90's but who cares it did not change quality of the food.

A great place for chinnese cusine. Warm a nd friendly staff. Sit in or take away. Not licenced to sell alcohol but you can bring your own. Love this place.

Always looked forward to a carry out from here while staying in tollymore in the caravan. Tonight was looking forward to one again but unfortunately we were disappointed 😤 chow Mein had every type of veg you wouldn't expect with gooy tasteless sauce. Crispy honey chicken and sticky sweet red sauce and nothing else? Bland chicken fried rice. Spook annoyed and a waste of money cause it went in the bin !!!!!!!!!!

Food was good enough, but service was very poor. Accused us of ordering food that we didn't, forgot another meal and then really messed up our bill. Made worse by the fact there was an automatic 10% service charge as we were a group. Left feeling very disappointed.

Staying in the area for a few days, the wife & I and found this place on Google , reading the positive reviews we decided to give it a try. If i had to sum this place up 4 words it would be ' Looks can be deceiving' . The exterior and interior doesn't look good - very dated looking and lacking atmosphere , no music, not great lighting. Althogether very basic. However, the solitary staff member working that night (on the counter/serving drinks and food - plus working both sit in and carryout) - while rushed off her feet for the majority of our visit, was extremely friendly and polite. The food was very nice - we can't fault that. It seemed like a popular spot with the locals - plenty of people ordering takeaway. If the place was done up then it would be great! Note: The sea palace doesn't deliver nor does it accept debit or credit cards!
