Scran at The Courtyard in Falkirk

When your first experience when walking in here is a guy shouting to another man at the bar “you effing Cnut” and this continues for half an hour as the rest of the patrons join in with the swear fest, the only thing left is to hope the barmaid puts an end to it. But no. This creature joins in and it might be true that the other guy is indeed a Cnut along with the other six halfwits next to him. A total shambles of a place that can’t go on fire quick enough.

First and last visit for my family and I. The food was OK; dessert tasted pre-packaged. The initial service was OK. The set menu was ok, BUT if you only order one dish out of the choice of up to three course set menu, you pay full set menu price. I was told they amended the bill, trusted them, only to find out they hadn't and instead cost me more than if ordering the set menus for all. No tip for the servers, other than dishonesty doesn't pay!

Stopped off for lunch having read the previous reviews and really glad we did. Had the dog with us so had a table in the bar. The place was fresh and clean staff were attentive and friendly and so were the locals. We went for the 2 course option and having a couple of pensioners with us they opted for the slightly smaller pensioner option. Food was really good and so reasonably priced. Couldn’t fault and we would definitely be back.

We were recommended this lovely pub by a customer in another bar.There was a problem in the kitchen so we couldn’t have food so went to the Courtyard instead .I am so glad we did as the meal was beautiful and the staff are very friendly.We had the smaller two coarse meal which was soup a hot roll and steak pie chips and fresh veg .It was well priced and beautifully presented.The seating area was immaculately clean and the service was first class.We will definitely go back and also recommend it to friends and family .

Went with a friend who has fond family links to the venue, and i was impressed with every aspect of my visit. The staff were very friendly without being pushy, the food was amazing, the ambience was very relaxed, all of which contributed to my decision to my decision not just to make the venue a regular local, but to return today, for Sunday lunch, having previously visited for dinner. Today, i'm delighted to say, was if anything, even better to the point that i felt positively obliged, without being pressurised in anyway, to clear my plate for both a main course and a totally irresistible dessert. I will definitely be back

First time visit. Set menu was a good, portion size also good. Mac n cheese was fantastic! Partner had steak pie, thought gravy could have been a bit more flavour . Would recommend to family and friends. Would also return to try more of the menu.

Second visit to this wee gem of a place after having the steak deal on my first visit. This place does not disappoint, steak cooked to perfection and the pepper sauce is about the best i've tasted. Good choice of starters, had the haggis bonbons which were really tasty and well presented and my partner had the garlic mushroom which could not be faulted either. The staff are also great and very welcoming. Will definitely be back to try the lunch menu and look forward to going back for a steak soon.

The courtyard might not look anything from the outside but the interior is clean and modern.The menu is limited but contains a mix of the usual pub food classics but the quality and presentation make the difference.My chicken Balmoral was beautifully presented and tasted equally as good. Everything was well priced and the meal and drinks represented great value.My only complaint was karaoke started in the bar area around 9 which changed the atmosphere and prompted us to miss dessert and move to another bar.

My friend and I have been coming here for lunch every Tuesday for years, and have experienced different owners good,and not so good, but since this new young influence has taken over I must say that there has been an all round improvement both in the decor and the food which is excellent- fresh beautifully cooked, (large portions) well presented and served by friendly and helpful staff. Recently a very nice lighter lunch menu has been introduced which suits us well. Evening meals are also served and I would thoroughly recommend a visit to the Courtyard! We’ll be back next Tuesday! PS: the chef’s chunky thrice cooked chips are the best around !!

Nice, friendly bar that serves good home made food; small eating area with just a few tables and bizarrely a pool table right in the middle of the floor taking up space that could have been used for more tables. This may be an attraction in the evening, I'm not sure. The food was lovely, reasonably priced and served by friendly staff. Portions are quite big so we didn't manage to sample the desserts but they looked amazing.

Didn't plan the trip, had been before under previous management, and it was ok, but under this new younger generation management , such a great improvement. Three times cooked chips just complemented my sirloin steak cooked to perfection. Mrs B had fish and chips which was served with a pickled onion on top, nice touch. Great service from all of the staff. Please try this restaurant, you won't be disappointed, the food is excellent with great service. Good luck guys in your new venture, you deserve success.

De visita por primera vez el martes, el lugar era tranquilo. Decoración muy agradable e impecable, con una buena selección de opciones de comida. Teníamos el abadejo, que los dos estuvimos de acuerdo fue el mejor que tuvimos durante mucho tiempo. El servicio fue bueno y atento, el único inconveniente era una elección limitada de botellas de cerveza. Me gusta una cerveza cask de que no había ninguno. Sin embargo, vamos a tomar que a bordo. Hemos estado en el patio de Scran - junto a la de trigos - varias veces, y he disfrutado de calidad consistentemente alta, preparados de comida casera, todo a precios módicos. Las comidas son presentados a un nivel alto, y servido por un personal muy amable. El restaurante bar es espacioso y luminoso con un ambiente casual. Dirigido por el equipo local detrás del omnipresente Magpie - da una sensación muy a tierra local. Bien hecho chicos, y si puedes mantener la coherencia, usted será un éxito en el largo plazo.
