I arrived to get my coffees and a sandwich I love scandi in Stamford so took the opportunity to pop in whilst in upping but the service was shocking, the girl at the till served me before leaving with very little manner and a lacked politeness I then had my coffees made very quickly however had to wait 25mins for a cheese toasted sandwich, I don’t mind waiting but my sandwich was already pre prepared so only required to be popped on the griddle There were no other customers in front of me My coffees weren’t particularly warm to start with my after waiting so long they got cold The staff behind the counter danced and chatted to one another, I wouldn’t mind but I got No apology for my very long wait it wasn’t even acknowledged, even when I shared don’t worry about toasting it further (I needed to go and move my car as my parking was running low Tasty coffee and food but I feel £7 is overpriced for a toasted sandwich especially after such a long wait with inattentive staff

This place has a lovely ambience. I have Norwegian family so it’s pretty authentic. My only gripe is the music could be more chilled and less invasive. Having a chat with a friend needs music less loud… but we all have different tastes. But… the staff could be more friendly. I have been there more than once and I get the feeling the staff are rather fed up. A smile would be nice and a more accommodating manner. It’s an expensive place but a friendly demeanour costs nothing. Said with kindness

If you are looking for the best coffee around then head to Scandimania in Uppingham. I am a local so visit on a regular basis. Amazing choices for coffee, juices and food, cinnamon & cardoman buns being my ultimate favourite. Staff on the whole are pleasant apart from one member of staff who let's the whole place down. Fortunately, she is not there all the time. If you do not mind being spoken to abruptly and in a rude manner by non smiling member of staff, it won't put you off. The coffee is too good to be put off by one person, but beware!

In my opinion this place sells the best coffee in Uppingham. However, when we visited for a coffee it was spoilt by a man on the next table on his laptop making a Zoom call. He had quite a loud voice and another person there just raised their eyebrows. We drank our coffee quickly and left. This is a cafe not an office and should be treated as such!

Excellent coffee, wonderful ambience and decor! Very clean toilet, plenty of seating, (including outside, so bikes could be left there perhaps.) Amazing food menu and plenty of bakes to choose from, including many Gluten free options! The Swedish buns were lovely, plaited and had plenty cardamom spice. Definitely coming back… Best cafe and coffee in Uppingham. 😄

The best coffee house for miles around and it’s an independent, which we love. Interior and outside space packed with character and spotlessly clean. The design has clearly been done with an amazing eye for detail and to an extremely high standard. This is not local for us but we travel because we love the coffee, atmosphere and wonderful staff so much. The in-house bakery is something really special, especially when you time it perfectly and get to order one of the amazing cardamon and cinnamon buns while they still warm from the oven!

Just arrived in town and in need of a coffee, I chose this outlet as it looked interesting and slightly unusual It was OK, but no more. I didn't much like the coffee, I thought it weak. I know I was early but the pastries were still in delivery trays and the staff seemed more intent on discussing their love life than serving. At the back the area leading to the toilets was not very uplifting and the whole place felt a bit in need of a scrub. So not somewhere I would return

This is our favourite local coffee shop. The coffee is delicious and the cardamom and cinnamon buns are out of this world! We had toasties and coffees for lunch today. They were delicious and all the staff are efficient and friendly. There’s a relaxed atmosphere and, as the name suggests, a strong Scandi vibe. The one in Stamford is equally good.

We chose to have coffee at Scandimania because we had been to a sister coffee shop two days before in Stamford and had been impressed with the quality of the coffee and especially the flapjack. The fact that we had to wait for a table to become available tells that this is a good place to stop for a needed shot of caffeine! Highly recommended if you want something slightly different to the run of the mill franchise coffee shops. Try the flapjack - it is exquisite!

We popped in on an early Sunday morning and were greeted with a smile. Great coffee and chai. The toasted banana loaf with cinnamon sugar was decadant and scrumptious. The salmon and marscapone on toast was simply beautiful and plenty of it. I could have gone back to have it for lunch and dinner! The cafe is really pretty and a great mix of old with a typical scandanavian soft wood and stone

The part that is missing doesn’t cost anything! Can’t fault the teas, coffees, chocolate brownies etc., all excellent but why not serve with a smile, a bit if graciousness and a teaspoon or cake fork plus a serviette if warranted? The customer experience would be far better for only a little extra.

Hands down the best coffee in Rutland. Yes it’s small, but it’s perfectly formed. The coffee is honestly the best around with cakes, buns & sourdough baked fresh every day. The place is small granted, so I get that it isn’t for everyone, if you want to go and hide away for awhile and drink your coffee, maybe go for a bigger place, however, I’ve always found this place cosy, the interior is classic in its simplicity & after regularly going here since it’s opened, I’ve made many friends. I live in Rutland and I'm a huge supporter of local businesses. But I have had the same poor service experience at Scandimania both times I have visited. Yes, it is a small space, but it is pretty, cosy and unique - I love the interior, but on each visit I ordered the same snack (a simple toastie) and both times it has taken over 30 minutes to arrive - and not because it's really busy, but because the young staff are too busy talking to themselves and not keeping an eye on customers and the timings of the food they are preparing. Today, I arrived at just after 9am and at 9.35am I had to get up and ask how long the toastie would be. The staff looked stunned as they processed the fact they had forgotten the order. It has been cooked but then left it in the microwave. No other customers had order food, so they were not cooking for anyone else. There were only two other people who came in and ordered coffee and cake during the 30 minutes I waited. It meant I then had to scoff the burned, stringy cheese, pesto toastie in order to get to my appointment. I was given an apology and a voucher with a free coffee, but as this was a repeat experience I felt really let down and sad as I do not want to buy from Costa Coffee. I see that I am not the only one to have had the same experience with the young employees - I suggest the owner gives them some customer service training PRONTO so they focus more on the customers and less on gossiping amongst themselves (which we can all hear) and forget about the food they've put in the microwave....

I used to go to Scandimania regularly for a coffee and cinnamon bun before work - coffee is good and the buns delicious. However I've noticed since the new Stamford branch has opened, that the Uppingham one has suffered. There's been a number of times I've gone in and the cinnamon buns (arguably one of their biggest selling points) still haven't been delivered - they always used to be there even if you got there 1 minute after they open. I've also had juices where they've had to substitute ingredients as they didn't have any of one of them. And today I went in to get a coffee and bun, there were no buns on display and I was told at the counter after I ordered that it was cash only as their card machine was broken - there had been no mention of this on their social media/a sign in the window/I wasn't told before ordering. So I had to walk away without anything as Uppingham doesn't have any cash machines!Shift some of the focus back onto this store from the Stamford one and I'm sure it will be back up to scratch in no time!

Though multinational coffeehouses such as Costa™ have regrettably invaded leafy Rutland, still this delightful place remains - A beacon of hope for independent business, a stronghold for individuality and quality. Offering excellent coffee, toasts, juices and other confectionary, Scandimania embodies the perfect British coffeehouse while also providing a refreshingly Nordic influence in both the menu and the minimalist decor. This is certainly not my first visit, but may well be my last! Brought my partner as we were coming to an exhibition at the gallery and I was keen to show him the cafe where I'd had great drinks and light lunches in the past. There was no space at our first attempt so we wandered around town for a bit until we could try again. Sadly the two teenage staff spent out entire visit conducting a private conversation at top volume, barely acknowledging the presence of any customers. The subject matter of the conversation was not exactly something one would like to be sharing with the general public, and we certainly felt uncomfortable as intimate and gossipy information was shouted across the space. It felt like we were rather in the way of the conversation and drinks were plonked down without ceremony, the girl hardly breaking the flow of the conversation which continued like this for at least 15 minutes, by which time we were hurrying to depart, as the whole experience was awful. Please do some training of your staff in customer service. They are not being paid to converse, let alone actually put customers off with the sheer volume of their exchanges! Sad, because I've enjoyed coming here for a couple of years now.

Much as others have said the coffee is excellent, the place is small, but pretty and because of that the non stop chatter of the staff is more intrusive than it would be in a larger place. It’s still a revelation to us oldies just how much the under 30s use “like” in a sentence. It’s “like” every “like” other word! While I have no complaints about the food, it was good if somewhat basic. I went on market day (only 50 yards away) and the poor girl was rushed off her feet but was pleasant, and trying hard. full marks to her. I went as I had heard the coffee is the best in Uppingham, this is a matter of personal taste and while good I would not go that far. I found the cafe it's self left a lot to be desired. There only twelve covers, all arranged around the outside of the room mostly on benches with only the wall to lean back on. No comfort there then. There are four very small round tables in the centre of the floor, easily knocked over as one patron managed to do with ease.It is not at all wheelchair friendly, with a 4/5 inch step up to access the entrance door. A very sharp left turn to get to the door, made impossible without removing the advertising literature from the premises next door. A problem of a shared entrance. If you manage to overcome these obstacles and avoid scattering the tables, which incidentally are very low for wheelchair users and the window shelf is far too high with difficult high stools. You come to the problem of toilet access. the gap in the counter is way too narrow for any wheelchair. Meaning the person would have to stand to proceed and overcome the steps to exit the rear of the building. Assuming they could remove the assortment of vegetables placed on them. The cafe was very popular showing they must have got a lot right but every customer I saw was able bodied with a lot taking their food out.

I was shocked by how small the place is, no room to sit and when there is room there is no privacy and it is an uncomfortable wooden bench. Customers were chatting with the staff (I assume the owner) and I felt slightly uncomfortable and excluded. I feel to be happy going to this place you need to be “in with the crowd” if not you’re unwelcome. I felt there was a certain element of gossip between staff and their obviously close customers and I personally, do not want to get involved in negative chat like that. For me, as someone who has lived in the area for years, I don’t think this brings out the best of uppingham. The limited food selection just helped me to decide I wouldn’t want to return. My wife and I visited Uppingham as we were in the area and stopped by Scandimania after reading the review on TripAdvisor. We easily found it and was surprised how tiny it was. Very dark old interior with a small bench with two seats at the window, bench seating along each wall seating four small or three adults with horrible dirty throws on the benches, no cushions, two tiny filthy tables each side that hadn’t been wiped all day by the look of it. The floor was filthy and full of crumbs, with dirty splashes up the side of the coffee machine and anywhere else that I looked , the two girls serving were hardly busy but still got my order wrong and although it was about 2pm had a very small selection of cakes, my wife had an appalling spiced apple and salted caramel tart, it was super sweet and very dry, my coffee Americano was so hot it wasn’t drinkable so after my wife finished her passable latte we left very quickly, I also noticed that no chopping boards were used to prep food the cucumber was just cut straight on the counter and no attempt was made to wipe anything. Really really poor, definitely give it a wide berth

This lovely little place has become my number one choice whenever I'm passing Uppingham, which I find myself doing much more often now! The staff are lovely, friendly and welcoming, their coffee is possibly the best I've ever tasted and the healthy, freshly made Scandinavian inspired food is a real treat. The handmade Cinnamon buns are delightful, but they do sell out fast! I can't recommend Scandimania highly enough and despite Costa recently opening just down the road, I don't think they'll have anything to worry about. There's something very special about an independent business, run by people with a genuine passion for what they do.

I had such high expectations for this little cafe, we have regularly visited and recommended it to our family and friends, we love the healthy options and have spent a lot of money since it opened, my only concern is the surly owner who is rude and snobby I kept on thinking maybe it’s just me as you don’t have to be friendly to everyone do you? however she has become so rude I don’t ever want to go back! It costs nothing to treat your customers with a friendly smile and with respect, We find this little coffee shop very cliquey and snobby, if you prefer to be treated with respect, with a smile and kindness, then I suggest The Falcon for breakfast/lunch or Dinner or Baines Bakery for wonderful take away freshly baked rolls etc.

She took it away. 10 minutes later she gave us 2 small cups; she had poured the previous milky coffee into the two cups & topped with foam. Coffee was cold & for me undrinkable. We paid £2.50 a cup for this. If she had said she couldnt do a macchiato I would have had an espresso. We couldnt be bothered to complain any further as she was struggling to complete the orders of 2 other customers. I wont go back again.

As Australians, trying to find a decent coffee in England is close to impossible, but if you happen to be in the East Midlands then a visit to Scandimania Coffee House will not disappoint! The quaint market town of Uppingham is also worth a visit. Stroll along High Street and pass Uppingham School, one of England's public (private) schools. If you are there on a Friday, then visit the local market to see the England you will recognise from many of the TV shows we see at home.

This is our local coffee house and being picky coffee drinkers it couldn’t have been a more perfect discovery in our new village. Julia and the girls are fantastic and always light up your day. The simply food items and baked goods are super tasty and baked fresh daily. The Oat Milk Flat White has been a lifesaver.

It is a small friendly space where I have my coffee frequently and taste some very different kinds of vegan cakes.

4 of us returned for coffee last week. Tiny coffee shop with great atmosphere. Coffee range is excellent and their food is different from the usual coffee houses around. Very welcoming staff. Always try to visit each time we are in Uppingham

Service is incredibly slow if you have time and I mean lots of it then this is worth trying the sourdough and avocado with a lovely cup of coffee.

Scandamania is a wonderful coffee house, the drinks are excellent and served with so much attention. Coffees, teas and fresh juices. Staff are very friendly. The cinnamon buns are to die for, an essential snack every visit. Also my favourite is the honey and goats cheese on sour dough. Seating is limited and cosy but the place is friendly and enjoyable to sit in, but you can get anything to take away if no seating left. A must to visit!

This little shop has a cosy , community feel because you are quite close to the other few who can fit in, but suddenly you are transported to being in Copenhagen or somewhere similar in Scandinavia. There is a lovely atmosphere and wonderful menu. I only stopped for coffee but will have to go back for lunch as the menu was delicious. The wooden floor, benches and tables with cushions and candles add to the charm. If you go in and think there isn't a space don't leave!!! People will move up to make room and it's worth it. The coffees we had were lovely.

Great coffees with friendly staff, but not the fastest of service though. The seating is effectively benches around the edge of the shop, was surprised that there was not more choice of cakes. Very worth visiting as the coffee is great

Visited with my partner for the first time today and we loved it. The menu is fairly simple but given the size of the kitchen, I’m amazed at what they produce there. There were six delicious sounding open sourdough toasts - of which we had the smoked salmon and cream cheese with chilli and the hummus and avocado with chilli and seeds. They were both every bit as good as we hoped and topped off with a flat white and a chai latte. They do a surprising selection of drinks and smoothies and some Scandinavian cakes and pastries. We’ll definitely be back to sample more of their food and drink. Be warned though - the restaurant is minute but it makes it very cosy. The styling is pared down Scandi chic in soft pinks, yellows and greys with little concrete and wood tables and tall metal stools. All of which contributes to the cosy welcoming atmosphere.

What a lovely spot. Superb open sandwiches on sour dough bread from a tasty range of options. Amazing coffee and juices. All consumed in a quirky interior which reminded me of a waiting room of a sleepy one platform European village railway station. This was the perfect start to Saturday. Scandi chic in Uppingham. Where Rutland becomes Jutland. Enjoy.

I've been here about 5 times now - my husband visits on the way to work most days. I've stayed in and had take-aways. The food and drinks are of a high quality with friendly service. Nice choices on a small menu (but that's not a downfall)I just wished that Uppingham was on my commute route as I'd be a daily customer!

really tasty food and good coffee, interesting range of sandwiches and hot selections. Chairs could be more comfortable but you ignore it with the cafe's quirky appeal. A fun cafe experience that adds to Uppingham's many charms.

My mom has been dying to bring me here every since she discovered scandimania, and I now know why. I honestly fell in love with it all. I am VERY fussy when it comes to coffee and am a true believer that having a coffee is the whole experience, not just grabbing a coffee from any coffee shop. I had an oat milk flat white and a cardamom and cinnamon bun, could not fault it... she's hit the nail on the head

Some lovely tempting treats in such a small cafe, right on the high street. Tested them out on their cinnamon buns and a chocolate and coconut powerball! Fabulous-both-really good bun with great spices, and homemade by the owner. Opted for the unusual beetroot latte which I'd never had before-what a treat-loved it!!! Now I just need to go back to try the tempting sourdough open sandwiches and coffee!!

Small and neat Scandimania serves really wonderful coffee. With a Scandinavian influenced interior this was a perfect place to stop for a mid morning drink and cinnamon bun. Although we didn't sample them they also sell fresh juices and I was intrigued by the beetroot latte; will give that a try next time.

In a globalised world, it's so nice to see a small, independent business that's flourishing. The ambience is warm and welcoming, the food and coffee delicious. This is a very welcome addition to Uppingham's range of eating places: it's different to most and, being honest, better than most as well. Good luck to them.
