Went for lunch today. Was absolutely lovely. It has a lovely feel. Christmas decorations superb. Made to feel very welcome. Very relaxing. Unfortunately we were the only people (4) there. We had a table in the window. Lovely looking out over the countryside. There was plenty of food on our plates. Tables looked nice. Very clean. Dont take any notice of previous owners. This has greatly improved. Please give it a try. I would think groups, corporate meetings would benefit here as well as individuals. We are certainly going back soon for an evening meal.

Party of 12 work colleagues enjoyed Afternoon Tea on a Saturday afternoon . Welcomed by a large log fire in the beautiful lounge. Huge amounts of tea, coffee, sandwiches and cakes all beautifully presented and in delicate fine bone china. Staff were welcoming, friendly, courteous and attentive. I couldn't have asked for more.

We arrived for Sunday lunch to an empty and unwelcoming bar area. Seemed to be only one person on service looking after the bar, ordering and service. Only four tables occupied. Bread and butter on table with olive oil and vinegar which was lovely. Starters poor, except for the home made soup. Chicken terrine served without toast. We had to ask for bread and a jug of water. Ordered wine which was bought to the table unopened and left. My son had to take it to the bar to ask for it to be opened. Main course arrived cold with congealed gravy, overcooked vegetables and again I think mass bought yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes. Hair found in two meals and meat very tough. We left before the sweet. Never again, thought the venue may have upped it's game after the last owners, but obviously not!

Visited Scalford Hall restaurant yesterday for lunch. We sat at the table in the window and enjoyed the views of the garden and countryside.The dining room is a bright and airy room with music playing as background music not a loud intrusive noise. I had an excellent panneer curry with all the trimmings, we also had chicken curry, homemade beef burger and lasagne, all was freshly cooked and plentiful.Desserts of treacle sponge and sorbet completed our excellent lunch.Served with a smile and even a visit from the chef we were all pleased with the occasion and looking forward to a return visit soon.

Nous souhaitions goûter les spécialités locales de Melton Mowbray et nous avons découvert ce charmant hôtel restaurant. Situé sur une colline surplombant la ville, cette demeure du début du XXeme siècle offre un décor très agréable pour dîner.Nous avons pris un ploughman’s avec plusieurs fromages dont un excellent stilton (de la région) et une Pork pie, spécialité de Melton Mowbray. C’était vraiment très bon et le service sympa et efficace.
