Brilliant takeaway food. Best Tai.

Lived a few miles away for years, never saw Sawatdee before. A quick Google made me aware. The food was amazing and the people nice and friendly. I will definitely be going back!

Absolutely delicious food, never disappointed with this takeaway.

Had the Tamarind Duck which was fantastically crispy, and Thai Duck Curry with a slow building heat, loved both dishes. Definitely going back again!

I have eaten many Thai takeaways over the years but this is the BEST - 10/10!! Wish we discovered it sooner!

Just picked up a last minute Thai at Sawatadee, faultless I’m fussy like a bit of heat and freshly cooked, happened while we waited. Talked politics while we waited, similar views, and hey presto out it came. Took it home ate it with a glass of wine, superb !!! Will be back again soon!

Lovely Thai food, friendly service, perfect combination.

Staying in a nearby hotel we fancied a Thai. Takeaway only available. Tom Yum soup, Stir fried chilli and basil and curry dish, all Thai staple dishes, were authentic and excellent. No ‘dumbing down’ on spice content or missing galangal, holy basil which is often the case with European takeaways, presumably on cost grounds. No hesitation in recommending.

Great Thai food with loads of vegan and veggie options. Really friendly owners.

The food was fantastic and my only regret is having left it until now to visit as I was told by the owner that the restaurant is closing.

Food was nice, but really fell short on service, slow to take order, didn't clear plates away, no ice for drinks or dessert menu. Felt they didn't attend to us at all. Shame as the food was good.

If you like Thai food, you will love this food, may be slightly hot.. 😁

We visited here last night at about 9.30pm and we were thrilled that they were still open and serving. The lady who served our table couldn’t have been lovelier & she was so helpful. The food was piping hot & very tasty. The main meal portion was large & I was full up by the time I was half way through it (Chicken in ginger & spring onion sauce with plain noodles). I had the duck spring roll for starters and that was very tasty too, and again it was a good size). Altogether it was great value for money.

We have eaten here a couple of times and had fab food. The surroundings are quite basic but they have all you need. Their menu is great and having been to Thailand, the food is authentic and we can recommend the Pad Thai and Thai curries. We have found that a take away is sometimes better quality - delicious and hot. The king prawn Pad Thai has plenty of prawns although the tempura battered prawns is a stingey portion. Altogether we would recommend this place but more for take away food.

Visited to celebrate my Birthday - I chose the place as have been before and loved the food - and was not disappointed. Was quiet but midweek in December probably isn't the busiest time I'm sure just before Xmas. Service was very pleasant and attentive, and drinks very well priced; house Rose a smidge over £4 for 250ml. Recommmend the shared platter for starters - a little pricier then a straight dish, but you get to try loads! Mains of Thai Curry, Stir Fries or Noodle dishes on offer with sides of Noodles and Rice. It's good to mix up your orders so you can try a bit of everything - meals to share are so much more fun! Overall cost for starter, 2 mains and 4 drinks was £50 which for what you get represents amazing value. Would certainly recommend to you all, and I will be back again before long! Enjoy!!

What lovely food. Had a takeaway here recently and had the best food ever. They were very busy but not surprised and it was worth the wait.

We've been meaning to try this place for ages but never got around to it. On carnival night we were pleasantly surprised to get a table as we hadn't booked. What was good? The food. We haven't eaten much Thai food so we opted for the set menu. It was tasty and spicy which we like. Unfortunately service was incredibly slow and lacklustre which is why I've given an average rating. Judging by her clothing the chef took our order and the chap who seated us and brought drinks could have smartened up a bit too. It was all the more incongruous as the decor is clean and tidy.

Four of us visited for dinner. We all had a starter and main course and thoroughly enjoyed them all. Nothing to fault except the waiter who brought our meals was dressed casually in jeans, not what you would expect and the young waitress that took our order was reticent with no customer rapport. Drinks reasonably priced. Would visit again.

We were fortunate that we could get a table & so would recommend booking. The food was freshly cooked & tasty although I've never eaten Thai food that contains peppercorns & also there were bell peppers in a lot of dishes. Service slightly slow. Toilets clean.

Superb Jungle Curry & noodles. My wife and I have had several meals here with friends but this was my first take away due to kitchen being replaced (ours, not theirs'!) Excellent value for money, spot on food, hot and ready on time. What more could you want?

Hubby and I ate here a couple of evenings ago..we were having a lovely walk through honiton high street and decided to eat out spur of the moment decision which absolutely paid off with finding this fab little Thai restaurant...food was very authentic loved the masaman curry especially..reasonably priced, friendly attentive young man who waited on us...will definately be going back as Thai food is a great favourite of ours and this restaurant did not dissapoint.. excellent all round...

Thursday evening 15th March and we were back here for dinner in this friendly Thai restaurant. We ordered a young pepper corn stir fry with chicken and chicken Thai green curry and 2 portions of jasmine rice. Our food was well presented but more importantly was absolutely delicious, we are never disappointed with the food here. We regard every visit as a treat.

I go here all the time, love the food here. Get the tamarind duck, it is the best.

4 of us ate here on Saturday evening. The service was friendly and efficient and nothing was too much trouble. The food was beautifully cooked and presented and had a very authentic flavour. The wine list was surprisingly good and we had a really enjoyable evening. Value for money was excellent and we will definitely be back again.

We ordered a takeaway from here last night. Overall we thought it was okay. The food wasn’t bad but we felt the portions were quite small as takeaways go, it was around £50 for the three of us and usually for that price we would have quite a bit of leftovers... but this time we didn’t. Fishcake starters and chicken satay were nice. Massaman curry and red duck curry were also good but a little lacking on meat and vegetables and a lot of sauce. The pork mince salad was a little uninspiring and there really wasn’t much in there except the mince meat and some shallots with some spices. The pad Thai was a little stodgy and we thought it was a bit heavy on the noodles with not enough beansprouts/egg/crushed peanuts etc. Overall not bad but the prices for the dishes weren’t cheap and we felt a little short changed on meat and overall portion sizes.

I perhaps should have read the previous review which mentioned that most dishes contain fish sauce and are therefore not veggie let alone vegan. We basically had one option of main course which was sweet and sour (a Thai dish?), was advised that rice noodle dishes couldn't be made without egg as they would stick to the pan which was a little disappointing.

This Thai restaurant sits at the bottom of the high street and does not look very inspiring from the outside....

Reviewed Sawatdee some months ago, and my opinion remains the same; Good food, great value and lovely attentive service.

Traveling on business and did not want to eat at the Premier Inn so opted for Thai takeaway. Delicious fish cakes. Green curry sauce quite thin and a layer of oil floating on top which was off putting although so saying it was tasty. £8.95 for a king prawn curry however that had 7 (small) king prawns and a scattering of bamboo, peas and peppers feels a little overpriced in comparison with other takeaways. Throw in a few more prawns and I wouldn't have felt quite so cheated!

The restaurant serves pretty good Thai food and I feel really bad for giving such a low star rating, but I feel very strongly that the rude waiter/owner should remove themselves from the restaurant and leave it to the remaining staff who are very helpful. The person in question can only be described as a very obese man with no manners and an unpleasant smell. As he walked past I could hear him wheezing and he had awful scabs/skin condition on his arms. I have every sympathy for whatever medical condition he may have, but it doesn't change the fact that it is quite off putting to look at in a restaurant. Please remove this man from the restaurant as he has no place there.

Great food - very friendly staff and owner.

First time eating Thai food and it was Fantabulous, the lady serving us was very informative and helpful and for the first time in a looooooong time my husband and I actually managed a three course meal. The perfect ending to such delicately flavoured food is their home made ice-cream. We will definately eat Thai again.

Had a brilliant meal with my parents for a birthday. Very reasonable, tasty produce. Only comment is the interior is very bland and there is limited atmosphere...but if you're happy to create that yourself, the food and service are faultless!

We got a takeaway from here whilst on holiday in honiton. The food was very reasonably priced and very tasty! The food was ready at the time they told us to collect, was still hot when home and was an enjoyable meal!

My husband and I love the Thai food at this restaurant. We have been going there over the last four years. The food is always spot on everytime. You get exactly what you expect. The food is always a piping hot temp. The spices are perfect and the service is prompt timely and always with a smile. Nothing is too much trouble.

The premises themselves look ok but the unpleasant large man on the till was abusive to his wife, abusive to his daughter and was not particularly nice to me. He needs to learn some customer service and respect that his Thai met wife is the only reason he has a business. The food itself was ok, the dish i ordered was hotter than it should have been and the tempura batter was not brilliant. It's probably the worst Thai i have been to and i only enjoyed it because any Thai food is still great.

We tried a few different dishes. All of them were quite ok and the red Thai curry was very nice. We might go again. The lady who served us was very friendly. We like to eat early and were there on the dot of 5.30pm (the opening time on the door) but had to wait a while till it opened.

The meal at this reasonably priced Thai restaurant on Honiton High Street was fine, not outstanding but enjoyable. The service however was very strange: whilst our waitress appeared to understand us they brought our starter twice and didn't seem very interested in offering puddings or teas or coffees at the end of the meal.

Had been intending to visit this restaurant for some years, but for one reason or another, had never got round to booking... until now. All I can say is how disappointed I am at my own procrastination!!Booked table for 4, and on arrival was greeted at the reception/take away desk, and shown to our seats.The dining area is clean and simply but tastefully decorated, with adequate room between tables. Total covers, I would estimate at around 40.No background music, just the hum of conversation which led to a pleasing ambience (sorry to sound pretentious there).The waitress provided us with menus, and gave us plenty of time to choose; good job - we hadn't done Thai before, and there was plenty to agonise over.Eventually went for mixed platters for two, to try a little of everything, and for mains, variations of stir fries with noodles, and prawn crackers.Starters come in at around £5 a time, and mains £8.50 with noodles/rice £3 extra.Excellent presentation of all the dishes, and wonderfully tasty - and again time was allowed between courses; we did not feel rushed at all.On top of this the Bacardi and Coke flowed, and the only surprise to us at the end of the night was the bill.£99 for 4 two course meals, 10 Bacardi and Cokes and 2 cokes for the driver.OUTSTANDING value, and made all the better by what we all considered to be "the best meal" we had enjoyed in years.A generous tip followed, and there is no doubt that we will be returning sooner, rather than later.I would strongly recommend this restaurant, based on service, atmosphere, food quality and value for money; as long as you are adventurous enough to give Thai a go (remember it can be spicy) you will not be at all disappointed!Thank you to Urai and the team, see you again soon.

I certainly enjoyed the food. Personally, I loved the fact that it was quiet, but I know not everyone enjoys that. I had a delicious meal and great conversation, stayed for hours and no one looked like they wanted us to get out ASAP, which was much appreciated.

Nice enough Thai. Not the best but ok for DEVON. Staters are great - chicken satay - and their curries are really good.

We tried loads of dishes between us and they were all delicious. Perfectly seasoned and cooked, meat was tender and vegetables not over done. Service was helpful and relaxed. Desserts were a bit disappointing so if you are there for lunch pop over to Toast if you want a lovely cake to follow your meal.

Amazing food all the times...one of the best thai food i ever had in uk. We been visiting this restaurant for 5 years non stop although i live quite away from honiton .the noodle soup and pok tek is the best soup .must try it on!

Impromptu visit when in Honiton..No idea if it would be good or not. We had one of the set menus and it was plentiful and tasty. The lady who was waiting on was really friendly and the place was quite busy for a Tuesday evening. Would recommend as it's a nice little local restaurant.

I had the tempura king prawn with sweet chilli dip to start, very nice and perfectly cooked.For main I had the lamb Massaman curry with coconut rice. The curry was perfectly cooked and spiced, lamb tender and very tasty, the coconut rice was a perfect accompaniment. Great service and reasonably priced.

Hello..fellow diners..we visited this restaurant for a family birthday celebration..yesterday. The staff were warm and welcoming and the menu is full of variety and excellent for vegetarians and meat eaters alike.The interior decoration is plain and simple but the food was delicious and subtly spicy, evoking happy memories of travels in thailand..the food is also reasonably priced.. as in the wine. Another positive, is the interesting non alcoholic drinks menu..all in all a very relaxed and enjoyable meal.

This is my third visit in 3 or 4 years. Always good.The Thailand curry is light and delicious.It a simple friendly Thailand restaurant. Lovely sevice.The starters were good, except the fish cakes were rubbery! Three courses including drinks for £22 per head.

My taxi-driver recommended this restaurant after a customer of his had recommended it to him. I'm glad we took him up on this as our evening meal in early September was superb. The décor isn't classy but the food is and what a choice! We are about to return to try-out some of the other tempting dishes. A tip: book a table - the place was full on the evening we visited.

Friendly staff, excellent service, wonderful food. We had soup, dim sums, 2 stir fry dishes- all high quality, fresh & very tasty. Very enjoyable meal. Would thoroughly recommend.

Went to Sawatdee in Honiton, East Devon for the second time last week Had been meaning to write a review since our first visit last month but life got in the way. Sawtdee is lovely from start to finish. The staff are warm, friendly, courteous and efficient. The food is superb! Ordered different starters and main courses this time and the food was just as fresh and beautifully prepared as the first meal we had here. I don't think you could go wrong with anything ordered from this menu. It easily stands up to Thai restaurants in London, San Francisco, New York and others places I've eaten Thai in my travels. The chef does not condescend by skimping on the chillies. He/she seems to want you to experience genuine Thai food or at least as genuine as it can be made in England with the ingredients available. We arrived early at around 5:30pm and the place was empty but by 6:30pm it was full and buzzing with happy eaters and this was midweek, never the busiest time for restaurants. It only proves that if you do food well and authentically people will find you.Please go and experience Sawatdee if you love good Thai and if you have never had Thai food this is a good place to start.

My husband and I enjoy Thai food and this is a great Thai restaurant. The food is delicious with just the right amount of heat for us. The decor is a little bland, but the staff were very welcoming and friendly. We were surprised to find such a great Thai restaurant here and would highly recommend it.

We visited this restaurant for a couples evening out while on a weekend away. The staff were warm and friendly and the food was tasty and great value for money. The restaurant was not busy at all but this was a good a Thai restaurant as any we have been to. Highly recommended in Devon.

Saturday evening 2nd of July and we drove the 12 miles from Seaton, where we live to Honiton to have dinner at Sawatdee. This was our first visit and we were hoping that the food would be good.We were not disappointed the food was truly delicious and beautifully presented. We ordered a chicken Thai green curry and a chicken Jungle curry, both were £8.35 each and a rice was £2.95. We throughly enjoyed it and ate the lot, can't give a better recommendation than that.The restaurant has about 14 tables and is well decorated, nicely furnished and very clean. The staff were very friendly, chatty and helpful. Have already decided what to order when we visit again, basil & chilli stir fry (chicken). We will be back sooner rather than later.A large Budweiser (500ml) was £3.45, very reasonable and not rip off beer prices. While we were there it was very busy with take aways, very popular.

The welcome when you arrive at this restaurant is the first phase of a Fabulous dining experience,the service is exceptional as are the different courses of wonderful flavoured dishes.

Having lived in Honiton for 5 years I don't know why we haven't used this restaurant before, we now wished we had. The food was very good. I had Sweet and Sour Sea Bass and it was very tasty and plenty of it. My Wife had a noodle dish with duck and also said that it was excellent. With a couple of bottles of cool Thai beer and good service it was an enjoyable meal. We shall be back.

The restaurant is spotlessly clean and staff very welcoming and polite but the food failed to wow us.It wasn't that it was bad ..... It just tasted fairly bland against our expectations of fragrant lemon grass, galangal, chills and fresh spices. This didn't taste of freshly ground spices but more like it had been batch produced.We'll perhaps try again one day but I don't know when

Came across this restaurant when feeling hungry. Excellent service, both the green and red curries were so tasty, one rice was enough for the two of us. Very clean everywhere, friendly, efficient staff. Will certainly go again if in the area.

Went for lunch here and found it to be amazing. We had spring rolls and ribs to start and then the Green Thai Chicken curry. If Carlsberg did Thai this would be it.

We have been to Sawatdee on maybe 10 occasions in the past 12 months so feel we can give a very fair opinion of the place. The food is great, really fresh tasting with excellent spicing. The mixed starter is particularly good. The prices are also very reasonable and so it is one of those places you can keep coming back to without breaking the bank.So why not 5 out of 5? Well we sometimes find the service is a bit over efficient, so as soon as we have finished the starter, the main is on the table. We prefer a little time between courses to enjoy our wine!We also had one bad experience with one of the staff who I presume was the owner. He was loud, oafish and seemed not to care there were customers enjoying their meals. This one bad experience almost stopped us going, but we tried again and thankfully, we have only ever seen him the once! The other staff are very friendly and helpful.

Good little Thai restaurant.. Food was nice, good value and friendly.. Not the most salubrious of surroundings but clean and tidy.

Went for a meal just before Christmas with a group of friends and it was great ! In fact it was so good me and my husband went back last weekend for a romantic meal and the food was again fantastic ! The service was really good , attentive but not over powering. It's a shame they are shut for the Chinese New Year as we probably would have gone again this weekend. I really would recommend this restaurant.

A lovely little restaurant with beautifully presented food that tasted as good as it looked. Best Dim Sum I've ever had. The service was great as you would expect from a non English establishment, ie, staff that cared about their customers and not students wage hunting.

This is not the Thai food you would get in Thailand ( away from the tourist resorts ) but it is well cooked and spices are so subtle that you might miss them but I always enjoy coming here as the price is so reasonable and the owner so charming.

We went to this restaurant on Saturday evening after booking a table My wife and myself together with our daughter to celebrate her birthday and our son. we also decided to celebrate our move to Rawridge near Honiton.I believe that this restaurant can be very much improved by just putting table cloths on the tables and providing proper napkins and not paper ones.(this is the only reason I have not given it 5 out of 5) I say this due to the fact that the food is the best we have had for a long time. Everything we ordered was very nice indeed from the starters to the main course and side dishes and the service was good to, however we would add that, the gentleman behind the bar should dress more appropriately for a nice restaurant and not shout at customers on the telephone. the last thing to add is to play some nice Thia music and have some softer lighting.Please think about it, you have a very good place.Great Food.

Searched for a Thai restaurant on trip advisor, and found this one. Very pleased that we did, because the décor was really different, the food was excellent, and the service absolutely outstanding. Would really recommend it to anyone who enjoys Thai food.

my husband and I ate early, 6o'clock, and were welcomed with typical Thai warmth. We were advised on items on the menu as to heat etc. We chose mixed starter to share which was absolutely delicious followed by a dry rice dish for my husband and a curry with Jasmine rice for me. All the meal was delivered at the right temperature and we could not fault any element of the complete meal.One of the best Thai meals we have had in pleasant surrounding with a charming waitress who could not do enough to make us welcome. A very pleasant experience.

Visited this Thai restaurant in the Honiton High Street on our way back to Cornwall. A spontaneous choice, and very glad we discovered this friendly little restaurant where we enjoyed an excellent evening meal. Service was quick and friendly, with the waitress happy to give recommendations and advice over the "heat" of the various dishes. I chose the Stir Fry Chicken with cashews - my partner chose a curry and we shared a dish of rice. They have a licence, and also do Take Aways. The restaurant was not busy, but the other customers appeared to be enjoying the food and relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely visit again if in Honiton.

We ate here as a couple midweek and greedily ordered the set meal with the most dishes, for £54 for two. We were fit to burst at the end, but the food was truly delicious, Our favourite was the green chicken curry, but our duck and beef dishes were lovely too. Mixed starters and the soup were very tasty. Fortunately the meal doesn't come with a dessert, we simply wouldn't have had room. So overall, delicious food at a reasonable price. And the lady who served us was really friendly. Would definitely recommend

Went here for the first time last night and it certainly won't be the last - we went as a party of four and everyone expressed satisfaction with all the variety of dishes we had. The proprietor helped us with our choices as it was our first time here and the food was top notch. We all agreed that this was one of the best Thai meals we had experienced and are looking forward to visiting again soon

Visiting the area on a Saturday night in July, we looked for a reasonable restaurant or wine bar on Honiton Hight Street. Tried one wine bar to be told that even for a bar snack it would be 45 minutes (really?), so we bailed and looked for an alternative . Tucked away at the SW end of the High Street is Sawatdee. Externally not as polished as some on Honiton High Street but the interior looked comfortable and so with a quick look at the menu we took a table. Good repertoire of Thai dishes. Ordered Pad Thai which was very good and not excessive in amount. Very good service, prompt and not overbearing. All in all good food and good value for money.

Passing through back from SidMouth and decided to google Thai restaurants and the good positive Google reviews promoted out visit.Good food, very tasty Thai Dim Sum started and an even tastier chicken green curry.Pleasant host and polite service.If ever in the area we will definitely visit again. Sit in and enjoy their food.

Have only had takeaway from here, never eaten in, always seems quiet. Food is good, Pad Thai is great, Sweet and sour was a bit watery and too tomatoey. Good food but a little bit expensive for the portion sizes.

The meal was fine but we were dismayed at the lack of customers. Maybe Honiton doesn't "Buzz" in April and I think we must have been the only diners in the restaurant that evening. The food was good and the lady behind the bar was very friendly but somehow the lack of other diners didn't create the right atmosphere. Having said that the Sawatdee was probably the best bet that evening and had a five star health and hygiene rating so that was good in itself.

Really good food and we were asked how spicy we would like our food. Service excellent and even provided a cake for one of our party - with candles! Very reasonably priced. Basic decor but did not detract from our very enjoyable evening. Thank you, we will be back.

Popped in for lunch and tried the 2 course menu, every one was happy with the food and the service was friendly. I can not understand why anyone would give this place one star unless they had never tried authentic Thai food. This is a great but simple restaurant serving good value for money food, I've never been disappointed.
