Saray Turkish & Mediterranean Restaurant in Southwark

It's OK. But it doesn't set up my light. I've seen better Turkish restaurants.

A friend of mine ordered a lamb shish kebab here. He is intolerant to onions. He asked the owner if it came with onions before we ordered and we were assured there were none in the kebab. When the order arrived he asked which kebab contained no onion. Once again the owner assured us that NO onions were included in the kebab. We took the food away to find after the first bite that there were in fact onions in the kebab. He had already digested the onions and had a very bad reaction. Luckily it was not life threatening. This is disgraceful customer service to lie about food when allergies cause such a problem to some people. Avoid

I'm currently 8 months pregnant I asked the staff members if I could use the toilet they refused me to use the toilet unless I bought something from the restaurant. I then asked the woman why she wouldn't let a pregnant lady use the toilet she said buy something and she would this is awful very disappointing

Going to Brockwell Lido Parc, we had dinner with 4 people (including 2 children). Despite a long wait to be served, it was very good, friendly and pleasant staff. To wait in restaurants that take a little while to serve you, I advise you and your children to make a board game that is easy to transport. We chose the UNO with the aperitif drinks. And hop it allows you to wait in a good mood, no stress and to finish the plates are delicious and plentiful.

The food was good but unfortunately the service was very poor (although I’ve been before and had good service). The woman who served me didn’t mention that sauce was an extra £1 each until after we paid and were questioning the price. Also the menu says Turkish rice, but it was bulgar wheat not rice - so bad for someone with a gluten allergy! Overpriced :(

The turkish waitress with the tattoos is absolutely terrible, rude and incompetent. The young boy is the only one that is competent enough to do the job. Never coming back again, the waitress shouldn't be doing her job.

The Meze plate was lovely would definitely recommend them both

I've been to this restaurant many times and have always had a really lovely experience. Today I went with my 3 sons and mum for her bday. My middle son who is 15 but 6' 4" walked ahead of us and entered the restaurant alone. One waiter asked him if he could help and asked if he is there to eat. My son answered yes. He then responded to my son, if you are not eating then can you leave! My son responded that we have a booking and his parent is coming, and at that point I and the rest of the family entered. I did not know this had happened and am so disappointed that my son was racially profiled upon entering the restaurant. The service was attentive and food was delicious as always but had I known the treatment of my son we would have probably left and gone elsewhere. Apparently the waiter apologised to my son but it is still not acceptable to treat young black men like this in this day and age. It's a shame that my family won't be visiting again because of this experience.

Lovely meal last weekend. We were quite late so had everything at once, the hummus with lamb (hot starter) was amazing even better dipping our chips in. The mixed kebab was also great. Lovely service.

Excellent food.. especially the hot mezze, sea bass, and the mixed kebab platter.. loved the cheesecake too! The staff was very prompt, polite and extremely helpful. Had a great lunch and would surely revisit. Highly recommended for anyone who loves kebabs and Turkish food! Just took the pic of the cheesecake, was busy eating 🤣

I thought I'd give Saray a try having driven past it on a number of occasions. The food was really nice and the portions were generous. The staff were really friendly and attentive. I ordered the Beyti as my main which was full of flavours. I think it might have had a little bit too much cream/yoghurt, but other than that I had no complaints. The atmosphere was good and when I arrived there were people of all ages there. Definitely a place you can go with the family or on date night. Prices were reasonable and you definitely get value for money. If you haven't been to Saray you should go.

Lovely setting with a great Turkish atmosphere. The service was very good with friendly and polite staff. The food was served very quickly and was well presented. I enjoyed the aubergine and feta dip which I ate with gluten free pita that I brought in myself. The owner was very happy to warm them up for me. My husband tuck into a liver and onion starter followed by the Halal grilled lamb chops. They were nicely grilled and served with a small onion and tomato salad. There was an option to have rice or chips. To end the meal, I had mint tea and hubby had real Turkish coffee. We were given some delicious Turkish delight as a complimentary end to an enjoyable afternoon.

The food is the best Turkish cuisine I've found in London and I come here every time I'm in town. A leisurely meal, attentive service and a relaxed atmosphere with views over the park. A hidden gem.

I would rate this 0 stars if I could, AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!! Simply looking at the low reviews tells you all you need to know. Staff are incredibly rude with terrible attitude towards customers, service is shocking. Our meal was made wrong and we had to BEG for it to be remade as the waitress tried to convince us it was the lighting in the restaurant. SAVE YOUR MONEY and go to somewhere worth eating. I truly do not know how they are still in business

Was really lovely food. Didn't enjoy being blindsided at the end of the meal with a discretionary service charge that isn't discretionary to the ower, with no prior mention of this charge anywhere prior to ordering, eating, on the menu or located in the restaurant .

Worst service I have ever received in a restaurant. Our waiter was trying his best but when things started to go wrong the attitude of the manager was appalling! Served us uncooked food and just shrugged his shoulders. I’m unsure how they have lasted so long with this level of service

AVOID if you are a group of more than 2 people! I would give 0 stars if i could. Went here for a family birthday meal, Waited nearly 2hrs just for starters! The meze was undercooked and my wings were RAW. When my daughter told the manager his response was "can you cook them yourself". As we had children at the table who had were now very hungry from waiting so long instead of leaving. we asked how long the mains were going to take to then be told they haven't started to cook them yet ( an hour and 45 minutes after ordering). Whilst i understand that large groups can cause pressure on the kitchen, the managers attitude STUNK! He was unprofessional and rude about the whole situation. Not once did he apologise or seem to care for our custom. Which resulted in us leaving and the birthday girl very disappointed.

Services was very poor, the waitress couldn't hear us to take out order. Was giving our drinks without the coke, was giving the wrong food and she leaned over us to clean the plates

I have been to this restaurant for years and ashamed that I have only now got around to writing a review. The food is always delicious and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. If I don’t eat in I get takeaways twice a month. I have NEVER had to complain about anything.

My partner has been here a few times and it was my First time here and I loved it beautiful vibe, wonderful staff and a pleasant experience live music and he did a very good job played a lot of good music would definitely return lovely evening if you live in the area you should definitely give it a visit, Cagla was amazing hopefully see here again very soon !

We have been there a few days ago with a few friends and really enjoyed our food. They have a good selection of Turkish wines which we did really like drinking. The food was delicious specially the chops and lamb shish! The owner is really friendly we got our complimentary drinks in the end as well which was a nice touch :) Good place to be, definitely recommend everyone if you’re around. Thank you, we will be back!

Amazing food, great portions! lovely ambience and awesome service!

I arrived with high hopes to impress a vital client at Saray, but the hummus served was nothing more than a flavorless, watery mush. In fact, I'd go so far as to say the entire meal was nearly inedible. I strongly advise against dining here. And I shall never be returning. I do not enjoying leaving bad reviews, but I strongly advise revising the chef and management in this sought after location.

Honestly the worst Turkish I’ve ever had. The hummus looked and tasted watery, the consistency was liquid. The rest of the food was completely flavourless and full of oil. We left 90% of our food, when asked if we wanted it packaged to take home, we kindly declined and explained that we didn’t enjoy the food, there was no apology, just a shrug and an ‘ok’. We won’t be eating here again and advise anyone thinking of coming here to chose another option, the quality was really that bad.

The employees were very attentive and the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was great. I would definitely prefer you to eat here. Baklava for dessert was excellent. Thank you for everything.

The service in this place is horrendously awful, it’s nearly been 24 hours and I’m still waiting on my cocktail. In the end I had to ask them to pour me a glass of Prosecco as they didn’t have a clue. Long wait for drinks. Starter of garlic mushrooms and prawns in a cream sauce was divine. Lamb ribs were lovely, the salad looks pathetic for a Turkish restaurant - usually the Turkish have the best salads - this has no effort. Dirty cultlery, had to wait ages for sauces and ketchup. Didn’t help that despite it being the evening there were 3 screaming babies and then had to wait ages for the card machine to pay the bill. Food was ok, service was super sloppy and slow.

Told by the owner that we can park outside when they are infact by a bus stop. Spent 30 min driving around main road before parking 15 min away. Food was average, cold and the portions were tiny. Spent more then 50 pounds and got no sauses and half a piece of Turkish bread. There's much better Turkish restaurants out there with better customer service.

Returned today after a while. Has been improved internally and now gets 5 stars all round.

Nice relaxed atmosphere with incredibly tasty food and good size portions. Serving is definitely not rushed.

Best halloumi wrap... possibly ever

Looked forward to our meal, always looks a great place when walking by. However meat was really quite dry and no love in how it was served. Chicken was supposed to be boneless but was on the bone. So, overall, it was ok, but could’ve been so much better

The portions are quite small to compared to other normal Turkish restaurant. The meats are also not as tender as we would like to be. A bit disappointed of the food overall. Some people ordered Turkish tea but we didn’t order it so we cannot comment on that.The place is nicely well decorated inside with Turkish style. I won’t come back as for the price I paid for I expect more for foods.

Slightly overstretched staff but really friendly, helpful and patient. A pleasant casual restaurant ambience and about half full on a Sunday evening. All of our starter and main dishes were delicious and well portioned (we'll try their Turkish delights next time). Prices ok - see food menu.

Overall okay but probably won't return. Tasty but way too salty. Doesn't come with the yummy sides like many top Turkish restaurants in North London.

Excellent food, especially the lamb cooked to perfection!

It was the first time I'd been here, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Firstly, the service was friendly, helpful and attentive, The food was pretty damn good too. I don't usually opt for this cuisine, but loved it. I had a lamb dish that was perfectly cooked with lots of flavour. Absolutely delish. The price was reasonable too. 3 course with 2 beers for 2 was around £60. I gotta mention, there was live music being played in the background which added a lovely ambience to the place. However he wasn't there ALL night, and the effect he created was greatly missed when he left. All in all a great evening, one which I will be glad to repeat in the future.

Prob the last time I order from this restaurant. Food is tasteless. Use to be an old favourite. Price has gone up, fair enough but now no bread and no sauce. Asked for no tomatoes in salad and it came with tomatoes.

The food was very good. Though the restaurant was not full, the service was very good. The only let down for me was the size of the cheesecake, for the price paid. But other than that will be going back again.

My beloved daughter-in-law made a booking for a party of 18 and they were very accommodating. I thought the menu was very good but I picked a dish that I was familiar with to test the chef. My meal was great and there were no complaints from the other diners. I don't know how the guy who served us was able to manage our orders without unreasonable delay. I'm a happy customer and I do plan to visit again.

Ordered uber eats from here. Was very pleasantly surprised! Ordered the halloumi kebab and it was a very generous portion, lots of chips, salad and grilled vegetables. The breads and dips were great too. Tasted fresh and nothing was too oily. Will definitely be ordering from there again.

Been meaning to visit this place after seeing it recommended and it did not disappoint. Visited on a Sunday evening when it wasn’t too busy, Service was excellent and the food was just delicious and tasty, food is well seasoned and salad is fresh, loved the rice too, will definitely be returning.

I came here for the first time with family to celebrate my birthday yesterday. The food was so delicious, the portions were huge and at a reasonable price, the service was great, the atmosphere was relaxing and the staff were very warm and welcoming. I ordered some food via Just Eat at 9:15pm Sunday night. Having phoned the restaurant several times with the phone ringing out, I assumed it wasn't arriving so ordered other food to be paid cash on delivery. The Saray food turned up at 11:30pm and assuming it was the driver for the second restaurant I gave him cash. Only on opening did I realise it was the Turkish food from Saray and not the other food I'd ordered. So in effect I'd paid over 80 quid for 4 items. Not good enough.

This is a gem. So happy I gave it a chance. The food is delicious, it will now be one of my favorite places in London. The Lamb, the sauces... Everything perfect.
