Rude smug staff, horrible atmosphere do not recommend at all. Avoid at all costs

We had a really disappointing experience at Sangam Manchester. As Asians ourselves, we were shocked at the rude and dismissive attitude from the staff — especially considering that they are Asian too. It felt like we were treated differently from other diners, and the tone and behaviour from the staff made us feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome. Rudeness is one thing, but the way we were spoken to had undertones that honestly felt racist — which is bizarre and unacceptable coming from people of the same background. We expected a warm, hospitable atmosphere and instead left feeling disrespected and upset. Would not recommend at all. There are far better places in Manchester that know how to treat people with basic decency. ---

Food is outstanding (I’ve eaten in many Indian restaurants all over the world) but also hugely warm welcome from the staff, felt really looked after, will definitely be back! Would recommend the butter chicken and mango lassi.

Been to Sangams before at the other locations but this was our first visit to Portland Street. The food here is always spot on, the decor and staff are top tier. Great location, range of choices on the menu, generous portions and well made cocktails. We'll definitely be back.

Terrible food terrible service don't believe the reviews that you see... We ordered chicken tikka masala and it was sweet when is a chicken tikka masala sweet? They also charge a 10% service charge for giving no reason for giving no service. Service staff was super rude saying huh huh... Definitely won't recommend to anybody eating Indian food.

The food was so delicious and the whole staff team that were working there tonight was brilliant, very friendly, very patient and made this restaurant atmosphere amazing. Definatly will recommend this place to anyone.

Lovely decor and atmosphere, we were served by Fahim who was very polite and friendly, was always there when we needed something. The drinks and food came quickly and was delicious. Would definitely visit here again

Sangam is an eloquent place for enjoying authentic Indian Food in Manchester. Particularly, Asif was quite empathic and has a wonderful sense of service. Absolutely loved it and appreciated the student discount as well.

Review for Sangam Restaurant, Manchester Me and my friends dined at Sangam Restaurant, and my experience was a mix of highs and lows. The Starter Platter was absolutely amazing every item was flavorful, and I especially loved the Shev Puri Chaat, which was crispy, fresh, and had the perfect balance of tanginess and spice. For the main course, we tried the Dal Makhni and Kadhai Paneer. Both were decent but not exceptional. The Dal Makhni had a good texture but lacked depth in flavor, while the Kadhai Paneer was well-spiced but didn’t quite hit the mark for me. Coming to desserts, it was a mix of hits and misses. The Gulab Jamun was soft, warm, and delicious. However, the Rasmalai was a complete disappointment. I couldn’t even eat it and had to get it changed. On the other hand, the Gajar Halwa was excellent, rich, and full of flavor. Overall, a great place for starters and some desserts, but the mains and certain sweets could be improved. Would return for the chaat and Gajar Halwa!

The food was delicious and the service great. Our server Fahim was friendly and attentive. It was a bit pricey but maybe thats Manchester prices?

Very friendly staff, especially Fahim always checking if we need anything and coming over to our table. The food is 10/10 with a variety of options to cater different tastes and they have a lovely aesthetic indoors.

Lovely decor of this place. Love the atmosphere when you walk it. Unfortunately, we found the service poorly on our table from the start. They were aggressive each time we asked for another plate or cutlery as they didnt set the table for us for 6 people. Each time there was a shortage and we had to grab them from another table. Took glasses away without asking us if we even finished them. Was so abrupt the entire service until the end apart from bringing the cake out. The starters were mediocre and the portion sizes wasnt good. There was a long wait after we finished the starters before we received the mains. Mains were the right portion sizes and was cooked to perfection. Really filled with flavours and wasn’t disappointed with anything there. We wasn’t even able to add pictures of the mains as we forgot because we were waiting so long and just went straight in. We came out for a birthday celebration and that part was very special and appreciate the effort and decided to then give them an extra star for that.

One of the worst Indian places in Manchester. To begin with, the food was horrible. And the service was really slow. The plates were not as clean as well. It was super expensive for the quality of food they serve! Definitely do not recommend.

Dined with a team of 20 and had an exceptional experience. The ambiance is nice and the outstanding service that truly stood out. Each dish was expertly prepared, presented, and bursting with flavor. Our server, was attentive, knowledgeable, and ensured our every need was met. The staff's ability to accommodate our large group was impressive, and the food was exquisite. The staff went above and beyond.

Service was great, Fahim is actually HIM and the food was bloody delicious!!

Average food and low quantity which was not even hot. You can easily deceive people from other countries, but not Indians. The person who served food was literally hugging the plates and dishes to his chest 😤

Fab food, atmosphere, service, highly reccomend. We had samosa chaat, butter chicken and Lamb Jalali. Asif was a wonderful waiter and even helped us pack the takeway box, as we were too full to finish the delish food

Ibrahim was amazing and lovely! Very quick to serve and attentive despite being really busy. Food is always amazing, my parents visit me in Manchester from time to time and will refuse to go anywhere else and they say this is the best Indian they’ve had, so authentic and love the fact they have dessert options. Atmosphere and decor is also really lovely and welcoming

We came here last night, we were blown away by the amazing service we received from your staff! The staff were so friendly and helpful, we loved the atmosphere, it was so well decorated and the music was really good! The food was absolutely incredible, really delicious! The menu had a huge selection and the prices were very reasonable considering the location. Unfortunately we don't live nearby but we really hope to return in the future! Thank you so much for making our visit to Manchester so special!

We live in Hartlepool and every time we come to Manchester we visit Sangam. The food is incredible, all allergens clearly labelled on the menu. Service was outstanding. Would definitely recommend.

Came a week ago, lovely restaurant. Service to order was very slow & it wasnt busy. Took another waiter to get ours from chatting so not a good start. Starters of onion bhaji & somosa were lovely. Had biriyani as main & curry sauce was not good. Hubby had jalfrezi which was better. Naan bread was the best. All in all it was ok.

This place is absolutely incredible. I went here with some Mates after a united game. We had some pornstar martinis while our table was being prepared. The dinner was absolutely amazing, huge spread of top quality Indian food put out. We had a great bottle of red wine to share between the table, a Chateau Neuf De Pap. The food was top quality, and the service was quick and attentive. I would definitely come back here again for dinner. 5 stars all around!

I organised a conference dinner at this restaurant, it was good food, nice restaurant. The owner was very welcoming and the service was great. Saleem gave me a really good deal on the party set menu. I will definitely come to this restaurant again
