sauce from curry had spilt in bag and pilau rice came instead of plain rice.

I met up with friends and we wanted an Indian close to Tooting Thameslink station. Byo booze was great as there were many off licenses close by which kept the cost down. The menu was varied featuring your favourites as well as new interesting tasteful dishes . We had a great time and would recommend it.

Great old school BIR curry absolutely delicious fantastic value as I ordered the 1 person meal that’s a main curry your choice naan pilau rice 3 onion bhajis poppadoms Bombay potatoes and a soft drink for about 18 quid mine was 50p more as I wanted white meat chicken but amazing value and great flavours everything was made to perfection. I’ve tried the fancier Indians and the fancier Indians I live in tooting it’s absolutely full of different levels and styles of Indian food but I really enjoyed

The korma wasn’t nice at all, unfortunately. It had a really odd taste to it and w eaten. Everything else was ok.

Usually very good, but an hour late on an order made an hour and half before the requested time is poor.

Takes a while to arrive but it is definitely worth the wait! Always hot and delicious. Also reasonably priced too. A wonderful selection of food to choose from. This is one of our favourite places to order from!

What a retro discovery. Decor like an original 80s curry house complete with large handpainted frescoes full of Eastern promise. Lots of four person booths with hand etched uplit dividers and old-school Indian music wailing in the background. All a bit run down but that was part of the charm. Proper linen white tablecloths and napkins. BYO on booze so you pop across the road to Lidl or Tesco and save a packet. Service really attentive. Food arrived in good time and was surprisingly good in generous portions. Has a proper Tandor oven which is rare in the area and they make their own paneer. Left stuffed with a doggy bag for less than £20 a head. All in all, a highly recommended retro, yummy, value for money, gastro experience. Try it and keep places like this alive.

I used to order from here years ago. First time back and the food was quite basic. Had better, had worse.

I requested my order to be delivered as soon as possible and I was very impressed when it arrived 30min earlier that the predicted time! Brilliant and well done. I will definitely be returning!

The food, as always, top quality. They didn't have lamb shanks as ordered and phoned promptly to allow me to change the order. Early delivery was not a problem for us...

Food was absolutely mesmerising. As someone who has been all around the world, I have never tasted a cuisine quite as authentic as this. A big congratulations to the team at Samrat for their service. Will I go again? We will be there.

Pilau rice was microwave rice for sure, and the poppadoms were stale!! Really disappointing- meat was tough everything g seemed “left over “

I enjoyed my starter dishes very much. Didn't try the main dish as not really my type of curry but apparently it was also very delicious.

Reading through the reviews I just dont get it.. not once have I had a disappointing meal from these guys.. always hot always tasty.. always tender and plentiful.. I would never grom anywhere else.. I live this place!

Didn't reflect its reviews. the lamb karahi was less lamb and more onions. Same goes for the masala fish, which was very disappointing. I was naive enough to think it'll be the same as the big restaurants in tooting, but I was wrong.

I had been here a couple of times b4 and liked it. This business has always been a Del Boy retro 80’s sort of place, and actually I liked that, being retro myself. Having heard it had had a refurb I was curious to return I could see no changes at all except it seemed to be now an unloved and further deteriorated But notwithstanding this, it is no longer licensed although BYOB permitted But the food was not great and the Popadoms arrived within seconds both cold and stale. There were also no deserts available at all I’m am reluctant to post negatively on any business but this restaurant was overall pretty bad. It really needs a complete rip out and start again, and with new management to entice me back….

Your food is of excellent quality and taste although you do not do value for money,the portions you put in the containers are way out of proportion to the amount you charge, come on lighten up try treating your customers with more respect or you will rapidly start to lose the patronage of the public through your doors.

I live 5minutes away and yet my delivery was estimated 1hr to 1hr30mins and despite that it still came late… 1hour 45minutes LATE! So obviously the food was no longer hot and we had to warm it up in a microwave (i dont like doing thay) which changed the taste of the food.

I am a life long curry fan and wherever I go I seek out the local restaurants. Yesterday, I ordered a lamb curry and vegetable Thali. It was sensational and of authentic flavours. I would highly recommend the food here.

Despite calling several times & getting promises that the driver had just left, this was clearly not true. The restaurant is 10 mins away not 40. The food eventually turned up at just before 9 - nearly 2 hours after I had placed the order. By this time it was too late for me to eat because my stomach gets upset if I eat too late in the evening. It was also cold. The Samrat cooks tasty food but this is the third time it has let me down on delivery. I won’t be using them again & certainly wouldn’t recommend them to other people

Unfortunately we threw away the 3 portions of fries and coconut rice (too dry) They were not suitable for eating. Very disappointing to threw away food that you have paid. The chicken was fine. Not quite Indian, not hot but OK. The chicken tika masala doesn't taste as the traditional Indian food that you can find elsewhere. It is sweet but eatable and suitable for kids. The delivery takes 1 hour.

I was born & bred in Tooting & the SAMRAT was just literally just round the corner so we were frequent visitors, the service was always on point either in person, on the phone or eating in the restaurant & so was the food, I moved away 8 years ago & I really miss getting a curry from here the ones up here in the shire just don’t cut it!

Lovely food. This was our 2nd time of ordering and it was hot, fresh and the cubes of chicken in the Jalfrezi were huge and cooked to perfection. Sheek kebab was also a showstopper.

The Samrat has been here a very long time, 43 years, and was always a favourite of myself and my nephew and we just live round the corner. We took two friends and first nobody opened the door for us coming or certainly going out. (I am elderly and partially disabled; of course I had 3 able-bodied friends to do it for me). Then I found the chicken in my dish very tough, and one of my guests admitted that his seemed like an ordinary English dish. My nephew's favourite is butter chicken and he had that and it was fine, apparently. It's probably a good idea to know exactly what you want and preferably to have had it there before.

Prawn Puri bread too tough, Dansak way too hot, between Madras and Vindaloo spice temp. Lamb was good but overall too oily.

Don’t order the Lamb Masala. It’s full of bits of shredded coconut, which makes it sooo sweet. Very unbearable to eat and wouldn’t recommend. I don’t even know why they’d make a curry that tastes like that

I have ordered many times from you and it has always been very good. However, I am very disappointed with the service tonight. My order was 45 mins late and it had been out for delivery for almost an hour when I finally got it (as I received a text when it was out for delivery). The food was barely hot when it arrived.

I love the set meal for 1, such good value for money, and the food tastes amazing! You can tell its restaurant standard food. Definitely recommend.

Selected delivery for 8pm as my friend was coming over and it arrived at 7.20. Food was cold by the time she arrived.

As always, another delicious meal! Delivered piping hot, decent portion sizes and great value for money! The delivery guy was also friendly. I have used Samrat both as takeaway and to eat in for over 25 years! Highly recommend them!

I've been eating here for several years now and always enjoyed eating food from Samrat, but I was so disappointed with my last order and it was not only cold when it arrived, but it was expensive, oily, bland and tasteless. And I decided that it was time I move on, as maybe the chef has changed now or the recipe. Which is a shame.

Been useing this restaurant for many years and will continue to do so the food is always excellent and the delivery service is great

All items correct, delivered in good time and friendly polite delivery, however the food leaves something to be desired. Majority of the food was so oily, it dripped all over my countertops and hands. I had to wash my hands twice whilst serving up due to how oily it was... nothing wrong with the packaging just way too much oil used. The Tarka deal was quite pleasant, but based on the whole order I won't be a repeat customer.
