Food was very poor. Didn’t look or taste good. Chicken was not a good texture. Not spicy for a jalfrezi. Won’t be back.

Bland cack, tasteless chicken in pre prepared sauce. Bread was awful, worst keema nan I have ever had. Dry meat in undercooked bread, not sure how they managed that. Very disappointing. Was delivered quickly but that is probably because very little cooking was needed.

Whilst the food was delivered late, the main problem was the distinct lack of chicken in the dish. I counted three very small slithers, bulked out by sauce.

Delicious Bombay potatoes & Chicken madras

Plus points, good portion sizes and delivery on time. But, my King Prawn Biriyani only generated one King Prawn and I had 3/4 of it. The Biriyani rice was just a brown coloured rice wirh no onion or biriyani flavour; certainly not the usual layered rice with lots of flavour I was expecting from the description. The veg curry was plentiful but watery and hardly any curry flavour. My partner had Balti. Didn't look or taste like any balti we had before. Again, watery. Naan bread was dry, not buttery and fluffy, and the peshawar bit was just some dried coconut flakes that must have bee. Shaken over a plain naan as most of the little there was, was just sitting in the bag. Disappointing. Won't be ordering there again. No point discussing. Shouldn't need to. Can't change a poor meal. I am very fed up with the lottery of getting a decent meal. Whatever happened to those flavoursome spicy curries we used to get consistently back in the 90s.

Very watery curries, both vindaloo + tikka masala I ordered were filled with water & oil to the brim. Even when mixing. Masala portion came short and filled just above half way on a big container. Very disappointed.

I am updating my previous review, as we had such inconsistent experiences with House of Spice that we stopped ordering. There was a huge difference from one week to the next in the quality of the food. On one occasion, there was a bit of debris (appeared to be from a can opener) in one of the dishes. The flavour of the favourite dansak was inconsistent from one order to the next as well. Very disappointing.

Overall the food wasfine. The vegetable curry which came with the biriyani was a little blend. The rice itself was very tasty. The lamb sag was very nice as was the chicken tava. The Ghorma Sabzi was underwhelming, however. Happy to order from them again.

Tikka masala lacked flavour, was like a tomato and cream but no authentic flavour. I've never had a curry like it... the mango chutney and poppadoms all tasted off and like soap. They were basically inedible. The korma and the naans were alrigjt. Would never order from here again though.

Horrible service, phoned up to complain about my order, politely may I add, to be then told it’s how we make it and then to be hung up on. Curry was sour! Popadoms had a weird and funny taste to it. Please don’t order from them, there are better curry houses.

Wrong order arrived, we ordered 3 plain naan breads, we got one coconut naan and one plain. Food was way over salty and oily.

This is our neighbourhood restaurant. We regularly order take away. They are always very polite on the phone and they deliver very fast. The size and quality of the food has always been outstanding. They have always been very consistent in delivering high quality delicious Indian food at a reasonable price. I strongly recommend.

Food was lovely especially the keema naan, unfortunately the chicken dish I ordered was literally just a container of chicken and boiled onion in a broth. It was supposed to include tomato and peppers in my mind like a shashlik. The restaurant quality and service is good but the dish needs to match the menu - it’s actually a legal requirement not just base line service.

We ordered a take-away dinner from House of Spice for the first time yesterday. The website to order the food is well laid out and clear; everything on the menu is easy to find. Delivery time given was 40 minutes (ASAP requested) and the food arrived within 25. Unfortunately, the food was not great. We had the Nawabi Kebab and Mixed starters The dishes were very wet making the the onion bhaji soggy. We had Lamb Balti, Chicken Jalfrezi, Baby aubergines, Chilli jeera paneer and Royal Daal. The mains were bland at best, lacked seasoning, no real flavour. Too many peppers and onions in the Chicken Jalfrezi and Chilli paneer. Sadly, we won't be returning too soon.

Another superb curry from House of Spice, I was running late with everything yesterday and hadn’t even started to prepare my meal let alone cook it. In that situation, log on and order my favourite, it helped that it was Tuesday and I got a discount. House of Spice, never disappoints.

Fantastic Indian takeaway! Could not fault anything!

I just didn't feel like cooking so I went online and ordered from the ever-reliable House of Spice. I got what I wanted quickly.

The food tasted ok at dinner, but that night, a family member was experiencing stomach cramps and had bowel problems. She had food poisoning for the next two days and, when we contacted House of Spice management, we were only offered 25% off and have not heard back from them since. I don't know if the hygiene standards have plummeted or if the ingredients in the vegetable curry were way out of date, but it's the worst food poisoning we've ever seen from a takeaway. Needless to say, we will not be using them again.

I got home after a long day and it was just too cold for the salad I had prepared. A few clicks of the mouse and I had a lovely curry from the always reliable House of Spice at my door.

Too spicy, could not handle the food it supposed to be medium hot it was too hot.

The food is delicious and full of flavour, very tasty; but so little meat inside the dishes, small portions also, for byriany also didn't had the option to order with my choice of meat... such a shame.

The worst Indian I've ever had. I ordered the lamb korma and it was tasteless and watery. Really disappointed.

Madras was VERY spicy (and I enjoy spicy food). Description is "medium hot", which incidentally is the same description as for the tikka masala and vindaloo... probably need to differentiate between these 3 curries a bit more. Naan was also half the size of a typical naan elsewhere. Won't be ordering from here again.

In my opinion,the vindaloo should be hotter than whats being cooked.CHILLI hot.

Vindaloo was excellent,very hot which is to my liking.The mushroom rice was also great as was the aubergine bhaji.

The best curry I had in a long time. Dhansak was super lemony, just how I like it. Probably it would rub some people the wrong way. The Kerala was sublime! Not as coconuty as the description would suggest, but with fresh pieces of coconut (not flakes or flour) in it. Best curry house in the area.
