The food here is equivalent as I'm sitting in Malaysia and eating it.. The food is too good. We ordered Nasi Lemak with Udang Sambal, Roti canal with chicken curry, Nasi goreng Kampung and Kuey Teow Goreng. Milo Ice is wowww. It's spicy and delicious. The waiting hours was too long. We waited nearly 1 hour but the food deserved it. I forgot to do booking, there were kind and got us a table. Special thanks to Mukund, he was super sweet and warm person. Overall, such a great experience eating Malaysian food in Manchester. Feel so much home.

Friday was very busy as you can imagine but they managed to stay on top of service. Friendly staff managing a lot of people so if you’re in a rush to eat, you may be waiting around a little while but we were not in any rush at all and enjoyed having time in between starters and mains. The taste was authentic and brought me back to eating at hawker stalls in KL. This is a no frills kind of restaurant, good portion sizes (we had to take food home!) and booking is recommended. Would come again!

Let’s start with the positives. The Teh Tarik was good. The flavour of the curry mee was also good. What ruined the experience: we asked for both dishes to be medium spicy. One was extremely spicy and spoiled the dish. When we told the staff they didn’t make an effort to take it back and redo it or anything. Next, we ordered together and we were the first customers. People who ordered after us got their food first, there was ten mins between one dish and the other arriving. The prices are also a bit silly. 5.5 quid for a cold milo and 4.5 for the tea is ridiculous. They chuck in an assumptive 10% service charge which they don’t even consider optional. I don’t recommend this place and won’t go back.

Great Malaysian food! We stumbled upon this restaurant in West Didsbury and ended up going two nights in a row. We tried nasi goreng kampung, char kuey teow, chicken satay, roti canai and mee goreng mamak. Probably the best nasi goreng kampung I've had in the UK. Also, excellent service from Farah throughout.

Perfect casual Malaysia restaurant! Everything was hot, fresh, and amazingly authentic. I took my mum (who’s from Singapore) and she agreed. We’ve gone to a bunch of Malay places in and around Manchester and this was the very best!! Don’t hesitate to take a trip here, it’s like being in KL! Lovely service from the girl we had today too, very kind and knowledgable about the menu. Kudos to the chefs in the back too ! We WILL be back :)

I've been here twice now. It's nice to go every once in a while to remind you of the fine taste of southeast cuisine. It can get crowded and that too in a small space, but like I said, it's worth it. I only go there for the nasi lemak even though the other dishes are from what I've heard really good too. There is a service charge of £3 something so if you don't mind paying that then gooooo.

Had dinner here with my wife and daughter for the first time. I must say the food tasted authentic and right mix of flavours. We enjoyed the food there surely. And I believe this will be on our repeat list 🙂 100% recommended You must book it before because the space inside is small and it will be wise to book it in advance. All gentlemen and ladies serving were polite, approachable and always had good smiles on their faces despite very busy hours.

Both food and service were incredible! We had the roti canai with chicken curry, butter prawns, lamb rendang and the fish curry, all of which were stunning. We also tried Malaysian tea which was delightful too! It was a little quiet when we went but it was a random Monday night and when I’ve gone past before the atmosphere generally looks great! And the staff made us feel extra special Can’t wait to go back and try more things on the menu 😍

If you're looking for authentic Malaysian cuisine in Manchester, this is the place to go! We recommended Rojak mamak, the dish is packed with rich flavours and traditional peanut sauce and the spices that take you straight to Malaysia. From the perfectly cooked mee goreng mamak to the mouthwatering Keow teow ( spicy), everything tastes just like it’s made back home. The portions are generous, and the ingredients are fresh. Whether you’re familiar with Malaysian food or trying it for the first time, this spot will not disappoint.

Malaysian Chicken Satay The Malaysian chicken satay is a perfect showcase of tradition and authenticity. Grilled to perfection over an open flame, each skewer is infused with rich, smoky undertones. The chicken remains tender and succulent, marinated in a delicate blend of spices that deliver a delightful balance between sweet and savory. Paired with a creamy, nutty peanut sauce, it’s a must-try for anyone seeking the true taste of Malaysian street food. Spicy Fish Fry Bursting with robust flavors, the spicy fish fry is an exemplary dish that celebrates the heat and depth of Malaysian cuisine. The crispy, golden crust encases the fish, sealing in its freshness, while the fiery marinade of chili and aromatic spices gives it an irresistible punch. Every bite is a delightful contrast between crispy and juicy, offering a mouthwatering experience reminiscent of coastal Malaysian kitchens. Chicken Rendang This Chicken Rendang is a masterpiece of slow cooking and layered flavors, true to the heart of Malaysian culinary tradition. The chicken is incredibly tender, having soaked up the rich coconut milk and spices, which create a savory, slightly sweet, and deeply aromatic sauce. The authentic preparation shines through, with the perfect balance of lemongrass, galangal, and chili giving the dish its distinctive and complex taste. Mee Goreng Mee Goreng is a vibrant and flavorful stir-fried noodle dish that captures the essence of Malaysian street food. The noodles are perfectly cooked, absorbing the tangy and spicy sauce that coats them. The combination of fresh vegetables, shrimp, and eggs adds layers of texture and flavor. It’s a satisfying, savory dish that showcases the harmonious balance of sweet, salty, and spicy elements typical of traditional Malaysian cooking. Mee Curry The Mee Curry is an indulgent bowl of comfort that blends the richness of a creamy, coconut-based curry broth with the heartiness of noodles. Each spoonful reveals the authentic depth of Malaysian spices, with a hint of lemongrass and turmeric enhancing the robust curry flavor. The tender pieces of chicken and vegetables complement the broth perfectly, creating a harmonious balance between spice and warmth that is distinctly Malaysian. Lamb Curry Rich and fragrant, the Lamb Curry is a dish that embodies the soul of Malaysian cuisine. The lamb is slow-cooked to perfection, making each bite tender and flavorful, while the curry sauce bursts with a complex blend of spices and herbs. The use of traditional Malaysian spices like cinnamon, star anise, and cardamom elevates this dish, leaving a warm, lingering taste that perfectly complements the lamb’s richness. Coconut Rice (Nasi Lemak) The coconut rice is a simple yet iconic Malaysian dish, and this version does not disappoint. The rice is fragrant and subtly sweet, with the richness of coconut milk permeating every grain. It’s the perfect base to pair with more robust dishes, while also standing out on its own with its soft, fluffy texture. The authentic preparation, using traditional Malaysian methods, truly enhances its delicate flavor. Unfortunately, their Milk tea & coffee are horrible ❗️😪

A Malaysian colleague took 8 of us here. The ambiance, food and the staff were amazing. The place gave off a homely aura. The staff was very accommodating of our adjustments. Ordered a variety of starters and dishes and everything was exceptional. My personal favourites were buttermilk prawns. I ordered Nasi Lamak, which is their traditional dish, and Sirap Bandung as my drink. After my meal I ordered the Ten Tarik tea as I had heard about it a lot. The price-to-serving ratio is acceptable. Definitely recommended. The place is Halal.

Went for dinner on a week day and it was relatively busy, which is a good sign ? But it became sooo busy we were playing musical chairs 😆 we got shifted x2, and it was 3rd time lucky. It did become embarrassing though. They had no fresh orange juice so brought me fanta. The food was surprisingly good. Good sized portions except the starter. The lentil soup is noted as having chicken.. if u call a tiny bone, chicken then it's ok 🤣 but the malaysian bread is to die for. Worth a try even though no chicken.

Visited this place because of all the great reviews it had. Although we had booked a table, there was still a waiting period due to the immense amount of foodies flocking to this place. Everyone that had left the restaurant had all given 5 stars thumbs up and recommended dishes. We waited a good 30-40mins. As soon as we were seated we ordered 5 starters and 3mains. Suffice to say the starters did not disappoint. In fact we were so stunned at how delicious the food was that the addiction is real. Please if you ever do go, order the fish starter, the roti canai with chicken curry, the sticky wings and the satay skewers. Absolutely amazing. Portion sizes are good and price was good value too. We were so full from the starters we barely ate the mains. The mains were not to taste tho. In future we would probably order a bunch of starters and a curry with that.

We had a dinner there, with drinks, starters, and main dishes. The starters, roasted chicken were good. Our drinks were unfortunately forgotten by them. However they remember the rice should be ordered for the lamb curry so they constantly disturb us and ask to order. After we had been there for half hours and had food for around 15mins, we were pushed to taken away the food and paying the bill. They told us there were some customers waiting outside as they reserved. How come? It was so chaotic of the service in the restaurant. In the end, we had to finish and leave in advance. Although the bill was discounted by 10%, the service fee was charged and the whole experience was horribly awful and disappointing.

Firstly, I have dined here before and had a wonderful experience and I have also lived in Malaysia and can vouch that the food is very authentic and delicious. However, we were thoroughly disappointed by our experience this evening. We booked ahead of time for a 6pm sitting for the special banana leaf set menu. On arrival we were told that there were no tables available, even though we had booked. This was the case for 2 other families who had also booked and had been asked to wait. After 45 minutes of waiting outside we were finally given our table. From the minute we sat down, the serving staff were unattentive and really didn't seem to know what they were doing or have any understanding of basic customer service. We weren't given a menu until we asked. Drinks came separately and after a while. We said we wanted the banana leaf set menu and the staff looked at us blankly, eventually they understood what we meant. After 45 minutes we finally received our two chicken curries (the main of the set menu) we then waited 10 more minutes for the banana leaf set (breads, chutneys and veggies) to arrive. As I said, the food was delicious I can't deny that. The set menu was also supposed to come with a side of fried chicken which didnt arrive so we ordered it separately and that never arrived. We waited and waited to get the attention of someone to ask for the bill (bear in mind this is a tiny restaurant with about 7 staff members). The bill came and it had the fried chicken added on (which we never received) and a service charge which I thought was laughable. We asked for the chicken and service charge to be taken off, we waited ten minutes and then just gave them the right amount in cash as they never gave us an updated receipt. I'm really disappointed with the lack of customer service experienced tonight. As i said, the food is delicious and the service has been great in the past, tonight was just a complete let down.

I don't usually post reviews except for the usual stars, but this place left me astoundingly surprised, so I'm leaving one as I'm leaving the premises. I regret not being able to taste the food after making a reservation. Unfortunately, we weren't served. The wait staff were unapologetic and frankly rude, with one of them stating, "Oh, there was a guy working before me, and he messed up your reservation." He said, "Give me 15 minutes, I'll get you a table." We waited for 25 minutes and were ignored by the wait staff throughout our stay (standing in a cramped corner). While I'm not particularly strict about receiving apologies, such a mistake definitely warranted one, in my opinion. Proceed at your own risk; the service might not meet your expectations.

This food wasn’t great.. It was amazing, even more. Words can truly not explain the incredible flavours that all just blended together into heaven. The food came out piping hot and was plated nicely, didn’t take too long and tasted very fresh. We couldn’t finish three mains between the four of us. It’s bring your own alcohol, and they supply cups, wine glasses etc. Food was cheap for massive size and quality. The butter prawns were spicy, sweet and the whole lot. The satay chicken was melt in the mouth chicken with a satay sauce, I’ve had some bad satays, but I can assure you that this one is the best of the best. The rice was cooked beautifully, the noodles were really good. We got seafood for the noodles which came with calamari, prawns and I believe I tasted fish. It was all really nice. After someone asked my sister if it was a bit to spicy for her liking, and she replied yes, they gave us a non spicy dish for my sister in which we couldn’t finish because we were stuffed. At the very end we were given free desserts, which were gorgeous. Waiters were all very nice. Unfortunately we don’t live here, so we can’t go everyday 😂 if you’re around, please go, if you want good food for cheap prices, go here. If you go here you will be given the opportunity to taste the best food in Manchester.

Absolutely wonderful! All portions were large and perfectly cooked.! Staff were so friendly and welcoming. Got 3 starters and 3 mains (+one free main) and was so much, unfortunately we are travelling and couldn’t take to go, but takeout boxes are available. Bring your own booze which makes the dinner extremely affordable. Cook came out and asked how we liked the food and after she saw my reaction to the small amount of spice, came out with a zero spice dish which was delicious! Very traditional and flavourful food. Highly recommend if you’re anywhere near Manchester!

Ordered nasi lemak sambal sotong for takeaway through a friend. Was really excited to have it for iftar and this was my first time trying it from Sambal, but I was met with disappointment when I only got 5 regular sized calamari rings and 2 small ones (see pic attached).. i don’t think that’s worth £13 sadly. The dish was kinda bland and sambal had no kick (ordered hot spice). Takpelah, first and last.

The food here is so authentic, all the flavours I've been missing, which I couldn't even find in Malaysia nowadays. We ordered nasi lemak Lamb Rendang, rojak, chicken satay, and mee goreng mamak which is definitely way too much food for 2 of us, but we were so excited and we enjoyed every dish. The lady who is the daughter of the the owner is so friendly, chatting with us and introducing all the popular items on the menu, explaining everything to us. Definitely recommended if you looking for authentic Malaysian food.

My first experience of Malaysian cuisine. Tofu sambal with coconut rice was incredibly fresh and flavoursome, and very generous portion size. Extremely friendly, kind and attentive restauranteurs and staff. Excellent in every respect and highly recommended!

Great food and very accommodating! Spice level is proper spice like the one you can get back home. My group and I booked a large table of 10 and all the dishes that came were very good and very tasty. Will defo come again and personally recommend :)

While the food itself tasted fine they managed to get something wrong for each of orders and it was so packed they didn't come and give us the opportunity to complain. The person who wanted spicy got mild, the person who wanted mild got spicy, one of the chicken dishes turned into seafood and the other seemed "medium rare". And with all that in mind it still took them over an hour to bring our food to us, and they didn't give us plates or cutlery at first either. A poor experience given what was expected from the reviews.

If you are looking for the the true taste of Malaysian food (the warmness and the kindness of the owner is also included), Sambal is the right place. I can confidently confirm the food here ranks top 3 among all the Malaysian restaurants that I’ve tried. The curry for the roti canai was superb. The fish curry brings back my memories to the Malaysian restaurant i frequent visited when I was back home. The best of course the cha kuew tiaw. It was cooked perfectly with the wok hey from pan completed the taste. Unlike other restaurants, the portion for each meal is enough for 2 person, so you can share the food. The best part of Sambal is the owner. She was friendly, treat you like a family eventhough it was my first time there. She even add an extra fried chicken for my daughter’s nasi lemak. We will come back for sure to try another dishes. Thanks for the excellent food.

The best Malaysian food I've ever tasted. So authentic and full of flavour. Prices are reasonable and portions are great. The nasi lemak was out of this world. Would recommend booking a table in advance as they're always busy.

Tried Samba's for the first time this week as a takeaway and can't fault it! Got the lamb and chicken rending, and roti canai. Everything was full of flavour, really decent portion sizes and reasonably priced. Having been to Malaysia, this food was spot on.

Feel very grateful for the service. We are rubbish at eating spicy food and dared to order nasi goreng mamak 😅 the taste is truly authentic, first bite brought me straight back to my eye-watering experience in Singapore where I did the same stupid thing. The lady owner saw our struggling and offer to replace the dish with none-spicy stir fry hor phon without additional charge. She has a lovely personality as well. All dishes were tasty. Highly recommend but do your research before ordering if you cannot handle spicy dishes like us🤣

Delicious genuine Malaysian food! Nasi Lemak, a Malaysian national food, was spot on especially with sambal squid (sotong). Mamak mee goreng reminded us of Penang. Big portion. Owner & cook is from Malaysia (Seremban). Saraswathi (boss lady) was very welcoming. Btw, they even got the teh ais right! Right down to the glass itself (straight out of a mamak)!

The roti canai was the best I’ve had. It was soo delicious with the curry sauce. I must’ve spoke about it for weeks after I had it. We also ordered the nasi goreng and the noodle dish which was ok. But our favourite was definitely the roti canai. The drinks were delicious too!

Really loved the food there. It was very tasty and authentic. The hosts very welcoming and friendly. It's a small restaurant so the seats may feel a bit congested. I tried the Parotta and couple of other dishes. The quantity was a bit more so ended up packing them home. 4 stars because when we entered there was sting smell of cooking filled the dining area. The ventilation should be improved to overcome this.
