Sam Pan Takeaway in Stevenage

I ordered Singapore fried rice sweet and sour chicken balls with egg fried rice and roast pork chow mein the food has got no taste to it at all all all the the Singapore fried rice I asked for it to be hot it's not hot at all the rice looks cheap and stuck together the roast pork chow mein had no flavour I would not all the food from here probably one of the worst Chineses in Stevenage

Ordered from this chinese takeaway for the first time yesterday and honestly - one of the worst chinese takeaways I've ever had!Food was overly salty and inedible. I hate to waste food but the noodles were so inedible, I had no choice but to throw them away! Beef tasted old and overcooked. Special fried rice was bland, yet had an underlying burnt taste! So disappointing as I was really looking forward to my meal & even checked the reviews before ordering. Felt it necessary to leave a review so people are aware of the poor quality of food on offer.

The best Chinese hands down, we moved last year and are now living in Welwyn garden, we still travel to this Chinese as there is no one better near us.

Absolutely the best Chinese in Stevenage. I will never use any other Chinese in town. Keep it up sampan you are the best.

I ordered my meal at 6:15 and they delivered at 9:30 and was very unapologetic and was rude stating that I got the food what was I complaining about, this was an Uber delivery so could see that it had been out for delivery for over 2 hours so as you can imagine the food was stone cold and I had tried to call them over 100 times

Just had our first ubereats from sampan. It was just perfect hot super tasty and not greasy at all. Really really lovely. Our definate go to for good.

I placed an order through Deliveroo. Chicken curry and chips. And a few other things. The chip where not edible. Even covered in curry sauce they were solid. I would say they’re being re-cooked many times. Rather disappointing for my dinner. I will Return to this restaurant. So I ended up with some bits of chicken and some chicken balls and the rest in the bin. Not a good dinner.

We haven’t used Sam Pan for a number of years but discovered they were delivering so gave them a go. We ordered lemon chicken, sweet and sour chicken, chow mien and vegetable rice but really weren’t keen on the quality of the chicken used. In fact, after a couple of bites I left the chicken and ate some noodles and rice.Missing the Old Town Chinese desperately, they’re slightly more expensive but the quality is far greater. Oh well, we gave it a try..

friendly staff and a busy kitchen, this is a takeaway only venue and the fod is fairly standard - however their salt and peper chicken is always good and asking the chef for his special - is always interesting - it changes and is always good food well cooked and done the way the staff like. as there can be some change in the kitchen staff and as ingredients reflect whats freshest and "best" - "the special" - isnt always the same,Service is quick - its reasonably priced - and the kitchen area is spotless.

It was an OK meal, nothing special, the ribs did taste of burnt oil, the rest was just, OK! lots of take-away's available in Stevenage though

Ordering was friendly & easy by phone it was delivered within the hour as promised.Food quality was pretty good.

Not our usual Chinese but had been out so decided to collect a takeaway on the way home. Quickly prepared and looked ok but not much taste at all , in fact the mixed veg was completely tasteless. Avoid.

We decided to try these guys for the first time this weekend just gone and WOW, what a fantastic meal, it was hot, it was plentiful and it was delicious. I am gutted it has taken some years to find this place !

Excellent service, Even given a discount of the menu prices, food arrived in the stated time and was delicious. Will definitely use again

We went to see family and was recommended to try Sam Pan, we were not disappointed it was very tasty and good quality food, a lovely meal.

Just had a delivery from this place. Was the best tasty chicken curry I have ever had. Also had special fried rice salt and pepper squid and pancake roll. Delicious every mouthful. Will be ordering again. Thanks.

How disappointing. I've just had my second terrible takeaway from here. I let the first one go as them having a one-off problem as I've been coming here for years but whatever has happened (new owners or new chefs or whatever) it can't be coincidence that the food is terrible again quite a few weeks later. All the meat is overcooked (a quarter duck, chicken balls and sweet and sour chicken hong kong style) - you can literally snap everything apart. The duck is burnt and inedible, the sweet and sour sauce smells a bit like paraffin and, although I've never tasted paraffin, I imagine it tastes like it too. The egg friend rice is again overcooked and slimy and has a horrible taste to it. The whole lot is about to be shared between the dogs and the bin which is a real shame. I won't ever be buying from there again,

This is (in my opinion) the best take out Chinese in Stevenage. The whole family enjoy this food. Order early in the evening though as you may wait an hour or so for delivery, so popular is this place.

Tried this takeaway as our favourite moonlight was closed. Looked ok but lacked sauce as the sweet and sour sauce was tiny. Singapore fried Rice was large but lacked flavour and by the end of the meal both my husband and I felt a bit sick as it was a bit stodgy and lacked flavour. Lady was friendly and helpful but food very disappointing so will not go back. Moonlight is far superior.

When I started to order the food was great, spicy, hot, when delivered and now it has no taste really. It to salty or no spices at all and it smells like burned plastic. Time to change.

The best in Stevenage. Highly recommend Hong Kong sweet and sour chicken. We ordered a meal for 10 and received free bottle of wine and prawn crackers.

Delicious Chinese and good service every time, this is my Chinese to go. Strongly recommend this is the best in town.

Acabo de descubrir esta comida para llevar china después recientemente se muda a Stevenage. He probado otros, pero este es el mejor. No estaba a tiempo de entrega y la comida estaba caliente.

Hmmm not got any better I'm afraid.Used to go here a few years ago but found the food average and the service poor. However was in the Old Town and thought let's give it another go.Oops shouldn't have bothered it was just the same.Food run of the mill, service average. Prices average.Won't be going here again but readers should not be put off as it is what it is.

I've been coming here for years, and it never disappoints. Always good food, at reasonable prices. Staff are helpful. Waiting times can be long on Fridays, so the earlier you order, the better.

Really nice food and this will now be my weekly Chinese takeaway as it is better than the others i have tried.

I ordered from there earlier, though engaged with an other caller,though the one serving had a rude attitude when telling me this. there is oalso ignorance on her part as I ordered beef dishes but it didn't occur to her that I could be muslim or middle eastern and gave surprised tones and comments to the fact that I'm ordering beef. While waiting for my order, she then laughed about me with the kitchen staff, often looking back at me while laughting which indicated that it was about me

Tried this place last year and have always gone back, great food every time, my partner left our son's passport detail in the shop with all our private information which they kept safe for us some places may have thrown it away, great food will be back soon

I used to really like Sam Pam however they take an hour to deliver a bit o Chinese food ! it's one of the better ones in Stevenage that deliver Chinese. WAS a little better than average food. . I liked it ... THEN IT GOT SLOPPY .. THE CHICKEN WAS OFF so was my custom ... When I rang to complain they didn't have any sense of urgency about my findings . They said that they would send me chicken balls with sweet and sour sauce for free next time ...ERM next TIME ?? Won't be one . got sloppy no second chances with chicken not being right .. Could have been ill ....

Very nice food and very friendly people allways happy to have a chat with me the crispy chilli beef is very nice and a very good price range very clean food aswell not greasy like other chinese places that we have ate from this is the only one we eat from now top marks for me

Ordered from here a few times now. Speedy delivery and the food was still so hot I had to wait for it to cool down a bit. All tasted very good and not greasy. Will carry on using them and recommend.

The counter service is bad I call up my order she didn't seem to understand my order I call back the shop to tell her my chicken balls was not cooked she say cannot be and put the phone down on meThe food was watery and noodles was burnt Never go back again few months ago food and service was good know they change people it's not nice the counter always different people and they should employ people that can speak English

I've used this takeaway for years was all ways good but it must have new staff I ordered a set menu for 3 to be delivered it was 1 hour to wait for it.totally cold and tasteless very disappointed even the prawn crackers oily with no prawn taste.i will not recommend

I don't know whether they have new ownership here because it's the first time we've used them for a takeaway for some time but it certainly isn't as good as we remembered it by a long shot.We ordered Singapore noodles, sweet and sour chicken and crispy chilli beef with egg fried rice and the quality of ingredients really wasn't up to the mark. There was an almost stale and overpowering taste of something akin to cheap oil, anyway we ate no more than half before throwing it away. A real shame because because it has alternative opening times to other choices in the Old Town.We won't use them again, I just don't understand why owners let standards slip because customers aren't fools and saving a few pence here and there will ultimately end in custom lost.

Fast delivery when I order on Saturday night, and the food was still hot, the food tasted very nice and the counter service was good

and we have been ordering for years as has many from Stevenage. Consistently good food, sometimes rather brash service but that matters not. Phone your orders through and collect or they deliver. ALWAYS busy at the weekends.

While this place is a bit hit & miss quality wise, the one constant is the poor service, they won't take your debit card (even if you offer to pay the 12 pence it will cost to process the card payment) unless you spend more than £10.00Though the 'Moonlight' is a 5 minute drive from the old town, they are less expensive, more consistent with the quality of their food & will take your debit card if you haven't got cash on you..
