Salt & Vinegar in Spelthorne

The food here is incredible, and the owners are absolutely lovely. I've been coming since I moved to Ashford, and this has quickly become my favorite local chippy. I love that they serve pea fritters which are my all-time favorite!

everything looks great on the outside, but... ordered cod and chips, the food is very fatty - it is impossible to eat the food was served wrapped in paper, which as a result was soaked from fat and my knees were in it, they also did not give fork, I had to eat with my hands 🤬 as a result, most of the food had to be thrown away

By far the best F&C in the area.

The place was spotless but food was so blank chips were super soggy and the cod was extremely small.

Always great service, food cooked fresh and you can order in advance. If you haven't tried their spring rolls then they are a must

Best fish and chips in Staines and Ashford! MUCH better than Smiles. The chips are out of this world and the staff are lovely. They cook the food fresh in front of you. Consistently spot on, every time. Cash only. Highly recommended!!

True veggies be warned. The 'veggie nuggets' are Quorn and not vegetables, I should have asked before ordering but presumed they would have vegetables in them. Not sure why a veggie can't have a vegetable option and not fake meat.

Used to be a regular here , right up until 30 minutes ago. Still serving customers but when I turned up at 19:10 they shoed me away like a dog. "We closed early" . You close at 21:00 ??!!?! Unnecessarily rude. Won't be returning again.

Nice hot food at a good price. Fish was nice and thick . Only issue was I phoned to order and collect so I didn't need to wait but on arrival time I still waited as wasn't done.

Ordered a few times from this place before never really had major issues. Took me 2 days to write this review as Ive just recovered from being sick (Im also 8 months pregnant)from the cod I've ordered. Not just me, but my partner and even my cat got sick from it too. My and my partner feel better, but my cat is still very sick. We always gave him the inside of the fish not the batter of course and hes always been fine. Now I'm going to have a vet bill because of your unfresh cod. Spent £40 on 2 cods, chips and some extras. Not worth the money, half the house hold got sick Id like a refund for this poor quality of food. Can I mention the black dirt/soil all over the cooked chips? You need to also check your chips when you are serving them. Ended up being sick mid eating due to having a mouth full of soil whilst being pregnant, put me right off any chippy now.

Visited on Friday for a takeout when at the In-laws, oh wow! These are the best chips I have had this side of South Coast and my word I have been searching a long arduous time, they stayed perfect till the end, flavourful slightly crisp outside and soft in middle - perfection! Fish was beautifully cooked and tasty and saveloy was delicious too. Lovely little family run the business too. Super impressed 👌🏼❤️

Strongly suggest if you are going here to ensure you don’t turn up in the last hour of opening as they like to close well before their opening times. And if they are still open it’s likely they will only serve you what’s already cooked as they are are clearly keen to shut shop and unlikely to cook fresh as they would likely have cleaned everything down for the next day. To the man behind the counter that evening (likely the owner) Shame on you for trying to indicate you are closed but when looking at the the clock you sheepishly realised you closed 30 min + earlier and then quickly hid around the back when I was trying to point out your times on the door clearly show you are still supposed to be open. No idea on the quality of food as it was my first time but ratings appear to show it’s ok based the people they have managed to serve in the hours they were open!
