Salt House Tapas in Liverpool

Visited on a Sunday lunch time after booking well in advance and was not disappointed. All of the staff were attentive and friendly and the food was amazing. Good quality ingredients and fantastic tasting dishes that weren't over complicated which seems to be the norm these days when it comes to tapas. Glad we booked to experience this restruant and will definitely be back the next time we visit LIverpool. Thanks

Fabulous place . Went for the tapas lunch. £ 17:95p for 3 dishes. The restaurant was pretty full. Great service. Good banter with one of the waiters . Food was some of the best tapas I have ever had. Wish I had this restaurant near where I lived !! Just recommended it to my friend who is going with a party of 12 for her 40th

If I visit Liverpool again, this is a restaurant I want to go to again. It was the most cost-effective and delicious place during my trip to the UK, and the staff were friendly and unbiased.

I’ve been to salt house many times over the past few years and have always had a good experience. However the last time I visited fell short of the usual standards. We were served cold meatballs that we had to send back. The bread and aioli consisted of a cheap baguette with what tasted like garlic dairylea. Patatas bravas sauce was essentially unseasoned tinned tomatoes served with more garlic dairylea. The pork belly was unseasoned which unfortunately gave it that musty pig smell/taste and was accompanied by a charcoaled piece of black pudding. That was also sent back. Seabass was nicely cooked but the sauce was reminiscent of tinned soup. Service was friendly and efficient but I’d give salt house a miss and go to bacaro instead.

We are here just before NY Eve (30th Dec I think) as Miller & Carter cancelled our reservation at the last minute!!! Anyways - it was really delicious - and being half Spanish myself it was great to see so many choices & well done typical Spanish dishes. We had a variety including the stuffed peppers, the chorizo sausage, gambas, patatas bravas and chuletón to name a few. Really good service as well loved it!!

Me and my husband went here for our anniversary. Tapas is our favourite and we like trying new places. Firstly our server was absolutely lovely. Answered all our questions about the menu with complete confidence. And even suggested a few things for us to try. Service was super fast ( as it should be with tapas) the food kept coming and each dish was absolutely gorgeous.

Fabulous restaurant, great food and drinks! Not too busy and allowed us to order dessert even though they weren't far off closing!

This tapas restaurant is located quite close to Liverpool One shopping centre. It is easy to book online. We visited on a Friday lunch before Christmas and it was very busy. All the dishes were good as was the service.

Authentic Spanish Tapas in the Heart of Liverpool I had the pleasure of visiting this fantastic tapas spot in the heart of Liverpool city center, and I can confidently say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The menu offers a brilliant selection of authentic Spanish tapas, with a variety of dishes that cater to all tastes. The food was simply outstanding—particularly the ox cheek with truffle mash, which I can’t recommend enough. It’s a 10/10 dish! The drinks menu also impressed, with a great range of options to complement the food. But what truly made the experience memorable was the first-class service. The staff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, creating a welcoming atmosphere that made our visit even more enjoyable. I’ll definitely be returning and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for delicious food and drinks in the city!

Wat een leuke zaak, middenin het centrum van Liverpool. Op een zondagmiddag konden wij gelukkig nog zonder reservering terecht. Het is hier lekker druk en gezellig. Fijne bediening ziet alles en komt geregeld langs om te kijken of er nog iets gewenst is. Hier bestel je alles om te delen. Lekkere, leuk opgemaakte gerechtjes. Ailoi met brood, gamba in look, mooi gegrilde zeebaars enz enz. Aanrader!

Great food and came in great time.

Came here with the wife for a light lunch and we chose 3 dishes off the Christmas menu and 2 from the al a carte.. Can honestly say the prawns were the best tapas prawns we have had. All the food was lovely and great service to, well worth a visit if in Liverpool and tapas is your thing

A second visit to Salthouse, as the first visit earlier this year was so good!! The staff are welcoming and attentive! And the food is exceptional! Three of us ordered a wide selection and not one dish disappointed! All absolutely incredible! Favourite had to be the Pork Belly though! Well worth a visit!!

Visited a few weeks during an extended stay in Liverpool and was nit disappointed! We'd had a difficult drive up to Liverpool and were tired and stressed and slightly late for our reservation. The friendly staff reassured us and swiftly got us seated and fetched much needed drinks! We were very hungry and so it was fantastic how quickly our order was taken and the dishes were brought out very quickly. Everything we had ordered was absolutely delicious. Each dish was as good as the last although a special mention to the pork cheeks dish and the goats cheese and spinach croquette which were out of this world. Really nice wine too. Such a lovely, buzzy place full of atmosphere and although busy we always felt very well looked after - made sure we didn't have empty glasses etc , offered more water. A lovely and delicious food experience and we can't wait to visit again when we are next in Liverpool.

Just popped in for a drink then we had a few tapas it was really nice and chilled then the manager came over and gave us a complimentary mushroom risotto it was really good thank you when we visit Liverpool this is are go to restaurant

Staff were very good and attentive. The choice of tapas is good on the whole. Gordal olives, nice bread, Followed by chicken skewered which were superb, the mixed fish was well cooked but wouldn’t have it again or the pork belly. The goats cheese was very nice as was the churos. Overall a good experience.

We’d visited twice before on trips to Liverpool and really enjoyed it - we were pleased to see that their standards are still top notch. The server recommended 3 tapas plates per person, but we don’t have the appetites we had when younger, so chose 2 tapas and 1 nibble each. Patatas bravas - very crunchy potatoes with a tangy sauce Prawns in garlic - 5 juicy prawns in shell, only niggle was I don’t like odd numbers of prawns to share between 3 Mixed fried fish - excellent battered fish and calamari - probably should have eaten quicker as this was dish which suffered most as it cooled down Crispy pork belly - like the world’s best pork scratchings Chorizo in honey - thick tasty meat, tasted even better when it had cooled down. Chicken skewers - tasty and tender chicken in a spicy sauce We just had enough room to share a basque chocolate cheesecake - sensible portion size as it was extremely rich Total bill including house white was £77 Lively atmosphere and quick service

We ordered five different tapas & one dessert which are all delicious, especially pork belly, pardon pepper & chocolate cheese cake. Highly recommended!

We had the fixed price lunch menu - choice of three meat dishes and veg sides each, shared between three of us. Really nice food and sharing added lots of variety.

Spectacular food in a spectacular setting. Staff great too. Lively atmosphere inside. Menu very good and reasonably priced too. Highly recommended for a visit if your in the area.

Went for the first time last week for lunch and was not disappointed! The food was incredibly flavourful - 3 tapas plates for £17.95 and each one was absolutely delicious. The staff were so friendly and courteous, I would gladly recommend this place to anyone. It's opposite John Lewis and well placed for both city centre shops and the docks. Will definitely return.

Lovely rustic setting. We were met by a friendly host who enquired about any allergies then showed us to our seats. Good selection of both tapas and regular menu items. We had tapas which was delicious. All staff extremely friendly and helpful. Toilets nice and clean too!

Had a lovely meal here, the menu was great, plenty of choice, in fact it was hard to narrow it down. We throughly enjoyed everything we had & the service was great too. Will definitely be returning next time we visit Liverpool.

Service is brilliant but food is ok. Most dishes are incredibly salty not authentic tapas atall. Overall just above average for the food but service makes up for the food

Had a lovely afternoon here yesterday, the staff are friendly & welcoming, the food was very very good, lots of choice & we throughly enjoyed everything we had. Will definitely come again when we’re next in Liverpool.

The food portions are approximately 1/3 of what they used to be. The Malaga fish particularly was scant. The so-called baby chorizo was just chopped up chorizo, nothing like what they used to serve. The ham/cheese board was about 50% there. Pork cheeks were like a Sunday lunch and were not great. The goats cheese was good, however, and saved the meal. Sticky toffee was enjoyable but not very Spanish. Almost nightclub-level music in a tapas? Really? The food is good overall but not good value anymore. It's such a shame. The staff were great, apart from one bloke who forgot literally everything we asked him. The Spanish speaking staff were exemplary, and so we were happy to tip them. Shame the greed of the management is taking away what was always an awesome experience.

As the name suggests, it may be a ghost of not being able to sprinkle salt on it, but all the food is really, really salty. They didn't even provide water to my table. The most disappointing meal in Liverpool... TOOO SALTY. I never recommend this restaurant.

Wow, what an incredible place. We couldn't decide which tapas restaurant to visit and so glad we picked this place. Lovely atmosphere and really enjoyed sitting near the kitchen and watching all of the action. All the food was great, especially loved the padrón peppers, really well chared with a good portion of oil and salt. Excellent selection of wines and lovely staff made it an incredible experience. Can't wait to visit again

Loved this restaurant! I followed the reviews and they weren't wrong! Friday early evening it was busy, we hadn't booked but we're found a table for 1hr10mins..we accepted because we were hungry! However after an hour, on asking how long we had left, was there time for coffee they found a way to accommodate us & we were very grateful. Generous tapas plates of very tasty, well cooked food; Malaga fish plate; chicken skewers; pork belly; chorizo & broccolli. Each plate delicious & so glad we had time for the gorgeous coffee. Every member of the team was welcoming, positive, smiling & super efficient. Can't wait to return.

Service was great and it was nice to have small plates for lunch. I didn’t think the food was spectacular as a vegetarian and why I give 4/5. Overall, I would go back for having something quick.

We popped in here around 8:15 on a Friday night with no reservation. They were fully booked but a couple of 8pm tables had not yet arrived, so the hostess asked us to take a seat at the bar and she would give those guests 5 more minutes then call to see if they were on the way. Luckily one of the groups didn’t answer so we were seated upstairs within 15 minutes of arriving. The restaurant was very busy but not too loud for conversation. From the broad menu we chose four plates (fried fish, goats cheese, patatas bravas, corn special) and one of each croquette to share between 2 of us. Our food arrived promptly and everything was absolutely delicious. The chimichurri corn on the cob special was a highlight. Staff were very attentive and able to answer any questions we had about the menu. There is a well stocked bar with an imaginative cocktail menu. For our food, one cocktail and a gin & lemonade the bill came to around £60.

Cozy tapas place with great and affordable lunch offer. Superb service and really nice drinks. Had to remove one star for the high noise level inside, with some better accoustics it would be a perfect place to eat.

We came here several years ago where we were introduced to Pedro Ximenez - what a great drink. We just could not pass by without "checking the place out" again. we were not disappointed one bit. Fortunately for the pair of us, we were greeted by Elizabeth (the manager I think), she was so bubbly & welcoming, her smile was really delightful. If you were having a bit of "an off day", Elizabeth's smile would help you enormously. A great person on front of house. We arrived around 19.30 and left around 22.45. However in the three hours or so that we were there. we had the most fabulous food to include, Spinach croquette, Chorizo sausages with egg, wild mushrooms, goats cheese and honey, sizzling prawns etc etc As mentioned previously special thanks go to Elizabeth with a great team around her. It was worth the 600 mile round trip up from Kent. I think Elizabeth was a little surprised at just how long we had been married!!!! A definite return visit on the cards Thanks Phil & Gill

What a scam! The food is "Spanish" when they have no idea how to even make a potato omelette.... plus the prices are exorbitant for the plate of food they give you, it's an armed robbery... I wouldn't even go back that they invited me!!

We came here for a bite to eat after seeing a few reviews online saying that they'd catered well for Gluten Free/Coeliac people. And I absolutely wasn't disappointed... We ordered too much food for 2 people - my honest advice would be make your choices then lose a dish. But that aside, every single plate came out looking absolutely beautiful - the kitchen clearly care a great deal about the plates they're presenting, and it's a credit to everyone involved. I can't eat wheat or dairy, which if you're reading this, you probably know already!! The kitchen very kindly marked the dishes that I could and couldn't have, and there was still plenty of choice from the menu. I went for padron peppers, Tortilla with garlic aoli, patatas bravas, hake with grilled courgettes and spiral fennel, and the pork belly. Every single dish was cooked to perfection, and I don't say that very often. The hake was the highlight - I suspect cooked in a bain Marie - as it was incredibly tender, almost translucent, and just delicious. In short, if you like tapas you should absolutely come to Salt House. They know what they're doing and they do it well. A straight 10/10 for me, not just for the food but for the incredibly attentive staff who all made note of my intolerances and 4 hours later I'm absolutely fine. No symptoms or stomach ache etc. Hope to visit you again :)

Really really good dining experience in this Tapa's restaurant. Lovely food, great staff and not too pricey. Only reason I haven't given 5 stars is I'm into my red wines and whilst decent, there wasn't a great selection of what I'd like. But I'll definitely be back.

Came here for some birthday celebrations. It didn't disappoint, the food was so fresh, really quickly came out to the table and delicious. It's gets busy so make sure you book, you don't want to miss out

Fabulous food and wine in a great atmosphere

I have been here many times and this restaurant has always performed well, I had 3 tapas dishes and was offered another dish for free! Which was kind, servers where professional and nice, calamari tasted lovely and cheesecake dessert was brilliant, would recommend!

If you are looking for a wonderful restaurant that serves the best tapas in Liverpool, has attentive, friendly service and is an ideal spot for a quick bite to eat, a special occasion or a date night then this is the place ! We tried an array of dishes , pork belly to scallops to one of the best vegetarian dishes I've ever had ! Quality produce , beautiful presentation and a huge variety to choose from , this place is my number one for Spanish tapas ! Highly recommend trying the spinach and goats cheese croquettes, the moreish pork scratchings and the wonderfully tender steak! The restaurant is beautiful, ideal for a romantic evening , vibrant enough for a great catch up with friends too. Absolutely recommend, prices of dishes vary to suit your budget too.

Buzzing Tapas restaurant with a medium size ground floor and a smaller upper balcony area. Busy and lively with an informal feel. Service was very efficient and friendly. Food is fabulous in taste and quality. You choose Tapas and it just keeps coming as and when you want to order more. Plenty of staff on duty, always close at hand. An excellent place!

Met with a friend for a long over due catch up. Food was beautiful. We had 3 courses, every dish was perfection. I also enjoyed a Bakewell daiquiri and that was 10/10. The cheesecake was also 10/10. I will certainly be returning.

Been twice over this weekend. We to convention at M&S arena and tried Salt House Tapas. The staff Lauren and the Manager Lydia were amazing and very attentive with my intolerance to gluten and lactose. We went again Sunday and the staff were excellent.

Every dish was amazing! Really good quality and value, service was excellent too. White Sangria was lovely.

We took our twin girls, Florence and Daisy, here to celebrate their 13th birthday. This is the 2nd time we have been to The Salt House Tapas. They made the girls feel very special, with complimentary 'Mocktails' and personalised greeting cards on the table. The food was really good. Everything was a delight on the eye and tasted excellent. In addition to all of this, the waitresses who looked after us were so friendly and nice. They are such nice people. WELL DONE, Salt House Tapas. To quote Arnie... 'I'll be back'.

Lovely staff. It was the best prawn I’ve ever eaten. Give it a chance you won’t regret. Chicken skewer was also so tasty. Spice and sauce in a good balance. Patatas bravas is another good taste in this place.

Just some Glasgow lads on tour for pride. Dinner was great, scran was bangin, drinks were dino, and Joe was a superstar!! Plus my mate had a few allergies that were very well accommodated for. Amazing wee place would absolutely come again!!

Our first visit here and we'll be back. Sat outside and the smells coming past from various dishes made me feel I was in Spain. Very authentic.

Me and my boyfriend travelled down from London and we came by the restaurant by chance. Sia and Aisy in particular went above and beyond for our needs. They were lovely and I can’t rate them enough. My boyfriend has a crustacean allergy and they took good care of him. Five star all the way.

I came here for my graduation dinner and the food was exceptional. There were 4 of us and we shared 12 dishes and the service was impeccable. Considering my boyfriend is Spanish and has high expectations he was very impressed. Would highly recommend and when I come back to Liverpool again I will definitely be visiting.
