I've visited this museum many times from childhood. On Sunday, Larkhill Place was chilly and very poorly lit. The café where we'd hoped to eat only had a very limited menu. Possibly best to avoid Sundays . Parking outside was quite expensive.

Didn't like the exhibition they had on at the time. A lot of space was wasted there and the "art" left too much to be desired. But everything else was grate as well as the other exhibitions. The cafe was packed but then again it was noon.

Extensive art galleries permanent and changing exhibitions on various types of art, at any time there's something for everyone to enjoy art wise. They also hold events (like talks) in the galleries sometimes (interesting for some but would recommend enquiring about these if you wish to have a peaceful visit to the gallery) and there is some art you can even buy on the first floor landing. The only "museum" part is the Victorian Street, which is well set up including ambience and smells and fun to explore but rather small. Other than that, not much apart from the art. There is a cafe but I haven't tried it yet. Good for a morning or afternoon out, but unless you're really into art there isn't enough to last you a day.

It was all I remembered as a child. So happy my Dad took me back at my age of 56 to see its wonder again. The Larkhill is dark but everyone knows that. We took an American friend and she loved. We had ice cream in cafe with beautiful view, and bought some postcards.

Not much to see. System for labelling paintings is really unhelpful. Cabinets of objects with separate laminated sheets because no one can be bothered to put labels next to the actual objects. Paintings hung so high that you can't appreciate them properly with strip lighting that makes it sometimes impossible.

You can take a look at the museum if you are in the area. There is an exhibition about an old street in Manchester where life back then is depicted. It's very authentic and nice to look at. The gallery has a lot of pictures that were hung out of context. According to the description, they should fit the period and therefore a lot of pictures can be exhibited. As a visitor it is very difficult to keep an overview or to be able to assign the pictures. All in all very nice for a stay of 30 minutes but no more.

Open Tuesday to Sunday and FREE to visit! :) The main museum collection is now one of social history, although originally the museum had a wider remit when it came to collecting artefacts from all over the world. This Museum is s an intriguing mix of Victorian and 20th century architecture. With the popular permanent attractions of The Victorian Gallery and Lark Hill Place, as well as the ever changing exhibitions, there is always something for everyone at Salford Museum and Art Gallery, from hands-on activities and workshops to modern art.

We recently visited the Salford Museum for a junk model insect session. While the concept sounded fun, the session was less interactive than expected. It mainly involved picking up materials and crafting something on your own, which felt a bit uninspired for kids. That said, the museum itself is lovely and worth a visit. There are some enjoyable coloring activities available for children, and the café offers a nice spot to relax. Overall, it's a pleasant place to spend some time, though the workshop could be more engaging.

The food in all honesty although a bit salty it was good and seemed fresh but the service and planning does need improvement in my opinion. Some dishes in the menu seemed overpriced .
