Sakonis Indian Vegetarian Restaurant in Harrow

My wife and now visit Sakonis regularly with friends. We were there on Thursday last week for lunch and I took a friend to lunch there the week before. We aren’t vegetarian, but the food served at this excellent vegitarian Indian restaurant is so good it is well worth visiting frequently. The variety of dishes is great, the quality of the food is superb, the values are good and the service is consistently delightful, from such lovely people. I recommend Sakonis in Hatch End unreservedly.

Excellent customer service by Krupa and Dhruvi, looked after us and was very helpful and informative. The food here was excellent, fast service good value for money. The restaurant was clean and tidy. Thank you for a very enjoyable time with friends x

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. Chilli paneer, Patra, Dosa, Chaat. It wad fresh and a lovely variety of textures, flavours. The service was friendly and helpful. Thoroughly recommended. We will be back.

Our first visit to this environment. A jewel of a restaurant in Pinner. Excellent food, excellent service. Two of us had samosas, patria, mogo chips, bhel puri, Thelma potato curry and naan. Total price £50 including the tip. We thoroughly enjoyed it. We shall definitely returning. A bottle of white wine would have complimented this excellent meal. Pity none is available.

The food was very nice. The ambience was pleasant. Service provided by Yogi and Krupa was excellent. We went for a casual lunch and did not require to book.

The restaurant accommodated a last minute change to the booking, the food tasted fresh (although I may be imagining it but the portions look smaller than a year ago) and the service was efficient. They also did a good job with requests we had, including bringing out my father-in-law's birthday cake at the end of the dinner with candles and background music. Overall, the whole family enjoyed the visit.

Really disappointed with the service we received on 10/03/2023. Avoid this restaurant at all costs, if you are a slow eater or want to enjoy a leisurely meal. A friend and I were there for lunch and a catch up. We ordered a drink and a dish each. Before we had finished the waiter asked if we wanted to order anything else to which we said we were not ready to order anything yet. Within a few minutes, he was back again to ask if we wanted anything else. Again, we said No as I was still eating. So he told us that we had to vacate the table within 5 minutes as it was reserved for someone else. My friend and I looked around the restaurant to find almost half of the restaurant empty. He was back within 5 minutes with the bill and to tell us that we had to leave so we asked why the people who had reserved the table could not be sat elsewhere. To which he replied that that was the only table that was for two people so we pointed out to him that there were so many other empty tables. He told us that we had been there for an hour and a half and that was the maximum that we could have the table for and started emptying the table and asked if we wanted to take away the food we had not yet eaten. I have Parkinson's and cannot rush my food. We were absolutely disgusted with the way we were treated. He literally threw us out of the restaurant. Not only had we not finished our meal but we wanted to order more, we were not aware of the fact that there was a time limit on how long you could be sat at a table. I have eaten there numerous times but have never been treated in this manner. In fact I have never been treated like this anywhere. Absolutely, disgraceful Sakonis! We decided to go to Minori to have desserts and hot drinks. As we entered there, we asked if we could go in just for desserts and we were warmly welcomed at sat at a table. We received an excellent service and were allowed to take our time.

Lunch was under seasoned and the noodles were extremely greasy and tasted tired. The oil the potato Bhajia was cooked in tasted old. The waitress brought the food, then walked away. We had to get plates and the cutlery container from another table. Totally unprofessional waiting staff and food a big let down. Prices increased, food quality and service decreased. As it appeared self service a service charge is superfluous.

We booked the Sakoni's Hatch End for a Birthday celebration for 18 of us on a Saturday evening and were happy with our starters but were disappointed- to say the least at the limited options of curry's available that did not have onion or garlic therein. Having eaten at Sakoni's Wembley regularly we were flabbergasted that the Hatch End branch menu was not so accommodating. On top of this, the Manageress of the premises was rude, specially as we had over half the party who could not have a proper meal. Would definitely not be returning back to this eatery again.

This is the most upmarket of the various branches we have visited, more a restaurant than a canteen The range of vegetraian food and snacks, the juices are still wonderful. The problem has been that on return visits there were dishes not available and even no corriander chutney at all! Some of the dishes sing with flavour and texture others were a bit of a let down Still worth visiting, still worth exploring just for the more than occasioanl gem of a dish It is soewhere you can take a non-foodie and

Fantastic authentic vegetarian food in lovely surroundings. Staff are helpful and able offer recommendations if unfamiliar with the menu. Food always fresh and nicely prepared. The chilli paneer is out of this world!

I have been to both the Sakonis restaurants with my family and were very pleased with food, my only concern, because there is a huge concern for people gaining weight, I think they should understand and cater for calorie counters? some people may not agree but I think most people would like this to happen! So try and do better in what you put on your food and how much, especially sauces.

They have changed their chutney "imbli", that has spoiled the food and will not pay 10 pounds for the chilli paneer that does not even taste good with these new changes. Hope they go back to the new menu.

I haven’t been back to Sakonis in years and am glad I visited the Hatch End restaurant for the first time. The food was very good especially the tofu chilli which I’ve never tried before! The service was attentive and I liked the clean and modern look of this branch. However, I do think they could introduce a few more healthy/innovative dishes as there are lots of Indian restaurants to choose from now.

Visited with a friend. Didn’t realise it was vegetarian when I said yes (I’m a solid meat eater). Food was delicious, we had the Bel, chilli garlic mogo , and another yummee dish I’ve forgotten the name of. I always judge a restaurant by its chilli garlic Mogo and this was up there with the best I’ve had. The portions are a good size. We over ordered so we could try lots of different things so had some to take home. All in all a good experience and I shall be back.

Disappointed with the food from this Sakonis. They charge enough, not like they are cheap, the paneer was days old, swimming in oil and definitely reheated several times, 3 days later, the food is still repeating and burping to chilli paneer scent. I would not...

Went there today, chilli garlic Mogo was just reheated and hard. Haka noodles was tasteless and not temperature hot. Crispy mushrooms was ok, have had better. Paubhaji was bland. Crispy bhajia was good portion. Liked the green juice drink.

Worst restaurant I’ve ever eaten in. Service was poor and food was tasteless. Ordered shezwasn noodles and it was super sweet. Do not visit if you want a proper meal.

Our favourite dish dosa was terrible, probably the worst I ever had. The sambhar was a paste. Noodles were ok. Chaat was normal.

My family of four went to the Hatch End branch of Sakonis. It’s smaller and quieter than the Wembley branch, and the decor is a bit more up-market, which makes this the perfect choice for a veggie-family celebratory meal. There is so much variety on the menu, and the food came very quickly. The staff were lovely too! I would especially recommend the chilli paneer, avocado chaat and Bombay rose Lassi. Would recommend to anyone, and will definitely come back!

I was looking forward to finally be able to sit inside the restaurant with family to celebrate a 50th birthday. I was very impressed, in particular, with the service. Very welcoming, all staff were wearing masks, were attentive, polite and professional. Very impressed!

Popped in for a quick lunch. Tasty food, good service and very decent portion sizes. Sat on the terrace with the sun coming down and ate samosa chaat, crispy bhajia and masala rava dhosa. Would recommend all three dishes. Lovely lunch.

The portion sizes are very small for what you pay, and dishes such as chilli mushroom and chilli paneer are lessened by being served on a bed of lettuce - ends up being a very small amount. The chai is very expensive considering it comes out of a machine and is not freshly made. Naan is also not fresh. A large amount of money is also charged for basics such as plain rice and yogurt. The food itself is good, it is just not worth the amount being charged for it. The aloo papdi chaat is well made.Chaii room in eastcote has better portion sizing and prices in comparison.I also noticed that none of the waste was recycled at all - as a young person I find this very distressing, as I have previously worked in restaurants and know how much recyclable waste is generated. Surely it cannot be difficult to install a recycling bin?

We regularly visit Sakonis and always enjoy the variety of food. Our favourites are the dosas. We had very prompt and friendly service from Diana. We will come again.

Not the best but okay quite expensive and the food portion quite small for what you pay. £2.50 for a cup of tea I know it’s hard out there but cmon. Also found the service very slow considering that there were only 4 people in the place menu was limited compared to other branches will stick that Harrow branch more variety and service better.

We did takeaway from this place a few times and ate in once but generally, good tasty food and affordable prices! Most of the starters are good and their wraps are delicious (sakoni specials).

Ordered from here recently and had a fantastic experience! Price is reasonable for an Indian restaurant, as well as fast delivery and great tasting food. Will order again soon!

We’ve been going to Sakoni’s for years and the food is always great. The staff and atmosphere were very good, and kept in line with social distancing measures. Food arrived quickly. A lovely masala chai that hits the spot!

Delicious vegetarian food, street food was especially yummy. Very clean and excellent service. Staff are courteous and friendly. Went out of their way to make us comfortable. It was so nice that we visited two days on the trot. Highly recommend.

Came in for the first time not knowing what to expect, food is served as soon as it’s prepared meaning that’s its FRESH. Food was full of flavour and was a delight to eat. Would definitely recommend

Table booked 3 hours in advance. Arrived, placed order, all items came in a timely manner and to great quality. Catered to our dietary needs on dishes that they could adapt, and food was presented well and tasted lovely. Ordered Kulfi for dessert. Although not the best I've ever tasted, but was good all the same.

We ordered food from the restaurant being only 2 mins away. The butter naan looks like it was microwaved with no butter on it, it was so soggy. The whole order was cold, and when we phoned them they blamed the Uber driver. Poor guy we tracked him and it took him only 2 mins to ride from the restaurant. The coconut chutney had a bad smell, and when I tasted it I can definitely tell it is outdated. Chilli paneer was the worst of all, no flavour, oily as pork fat and disgusting. Being Asians we cook and have eaten from so many Indian restaurants. This has been our worst experience, never ever going to Sakonis.

My parents took me to this restaurant for my birthday and it was so, so good. We have been to the Harrow branch of Sakonis before, and I was a bit reluctant to go to this al a carte one because I really enjoy getting a taste of everything at the buffet, but their sharing plates system means you get to try lots of different dishes anyway, and what dishes they were! The chilli paneer is exceptional, the server told us it was their best seller and it is easy to see why. The other dishes were very good and flavourful, with subtle and complex spicing, they reminded me of the food that I ate while in India! I enjoyed eating here more than I enjoyed eating at Tamarind in Chelsea, which has a Michelin star.

Exasctly two years ago, very soon after this restaurant opened, I decided to visit with a friend. I wrote a review then headed 'Didn't even try the food' (under another non-de-plume'. I reported that there was no menu outside and we were 'greeted' on entry by a waiter who pointed to a heap of menus on a table just inside the door. He never showed us to a table - maybe be because throughout he was chatting on his mobile phone! I told him I didn't want to disturb his conversation and we both left.A couple of weeks ago, I was in Harch End with a friend and we fancied a late lunch. Most of the other places were closed and so, 'faux de mieux', we decided to try Sakonis again. What a change! There was a menu outside and we were greeted by a very friendly waiter. We both enjoyed a superb meal; tasty and generous portions. Delighted that I will be able to return in cofidence that I will again enjoy the pleasant atmosphere and delicious food. If you look around inside you will not be surprised that it gets 5/5 for food hygiene!

The order arrived with HAIR in the children’s dosa. They couldn’t eat it. They were very UPSET. This is POOR FOOD HYGIENE in testing times during the Covid-19 pandemic. They also LEFT AN ITEM off the order which we paid for. When we asked for a refund over the phone the assistant manager said she couldn’t do that unless we came back to the restaurant. This was a lie because after some discussion she managed to give an inadequate refund. We were very put out and very disappointed.

Rude on the phone, hair in food, not just one strand, multiple strands. Also did not receive my full Order. When I asked for a refund of missing food, I was denied, until I kicked up a fuss. Very very, very very.... unacceptable..

My family and I went to Sakonis today 4th Feb 2020. We had Excellent Friendly Service and the food was Excellent. My mum does not eat Potatoes and Onions and the Staff at Sakonis made recommendations which my mum thoroughly enjoyed. Great People, Great food reasonably priced and adequate Portions size for Family of 4. Recommend 5 Stars. 10 out of 10.

Samosa were cooked in the outside but pastry inside still raw. Rookie chef mistake. Chaats were under whelming. Needs more taste.

Went for a New Year meal as a last minute plan. Had a lovely meal with helpful staff. This Sakoni does not have a buffet menu so it’s different as much more relaxing and calm then the other branches of Sakonis

This was my first visit to the Hatch End branch of Sakonis and I can’t believe that I have never thought to come here before! We were welcomed with extremely warm, friendly and professional customer service. The restaurant itself was impeccable and the food was absolutely delicious and freshly cooked. I will definitely be coming here again.

We hadn’t been to Sakonis for years - mainly down to bad experiences ranging from poor customer service and questionable food hygiene experienced at the Wembley and Harrow branches. Having heard some positive reviews about the newer Hatch End branch we visited and were not disappointed.

I love Sakonis and often dine here. I find the prices very reasonable for the portion sizes and the service is great.

Food is tasty. Though it feels bit overpriced for the quantity served. However service was absolute terrible today on Halloween. Food coming in random order with some items didn't arrive until we finished eating our dinner. One of the waiters was rather unapologetic and struggled not to look rude when complained about service issues.

I ordered us a takeaway and when I went to pick up my food there was another lady preparing a takeaway for somebody else. What I saw shocked me, With a five star food hygiene rating, I thought all staff would practice excellent hygiene. I was wrong, the lady who prepared my crispy bhajia Shook them into my takeaway box without touching them which was very good. However the girl previously was handling money and was touching all sorts and then proceeded to pour the crispy bhajia with her hands into the takeaway box without washing them, the chef in the white coat was standing there watching her and did not say anything, I cringed but I didn’t say anything at the time as I was in a rush. The experience made me wonder what goes on behind the scenes as if the head chef didn’t say anything and didn’t seem to mind what else went on! I gave three stars as the food was tasty, the chilli paneer could’ve done with an extra kick but it was still very nice. I was a little disappointed with the portion of the Samosa chaat, it had only two samosas within it and at a cost of £6.50 I thought was a bit steep, three samosas would’ve been more suitable seeing as they were not very big, It was very tasty though.

Visited to get a take away,once we ordered takeout I asked if we could wait inside as it was raining the lady said no you need to wait outside. When we got the food home the portion were so small for the price we paid ,would not recommend and would not visit again.

Went there to have a Dosa and must say it one the worst dosa I ever had. Bad sambre And the dosa was thick like a chapati ☹️ chats and Dahi baraa were ok

Visited Friday lunchtime, my friend hardly ate any of her food. My dosa was very poor. Service was haphazard one meal arrived 15 minutes before the other two.

The website says they close at 9.30pm. 3 of us arrived at 8.45pm to be told they are closed. We said that we had driven quite far to get there and had arrived 45 minutes before closing time so why were they closing. There were two other groups of customers that arrived at the same time who were also told that the restaurant had closed. The manager said that if they are quiet, they go home early, even though the website states closing time of 9.30pm. What a waste of my time!

Good food, good service. Plenty of choice for vegans. I would have like a beer with my food and they don't have an alcohol licence, but if you can get over this then a lovely experience.

To see a sakonis with this level of decor inside is unbelievable. Gone are the plastic chairs and bathroom tile decor; replace with fittings that befit the hatch end location.

A nice atmosphere, staff were friendly and attentive. The crispy bhajia were nice, though not the same as the unbeatable original recipe they used to make. Since I have become very sensitive to spices, I found a lot of the chutneys too hot. The dahi puri was very tasty, but they forgot to add salt to the mogo chips. I did notice the mugs had some old tea stains. Overall, we found this place rather overpriced for the quality.

Our very first visit to Sakonis & it won't be our last. Super, tasty food & great atmosphere. Lovely staff, who were attentive throughout. Got chatting with a lovely couple, who had travelled an hour & a half from Bedford just to eat here - a fantastic recommendation in itself. Will be back with friends & family next time.

Went there for a birthday dinner a few weeks ago. It was my first visit and will be my last one. We ordered our food and everything was fine up until they started serving. The order in which I thought restaurants serve in was 1 Drink, 2 Starters follow my main and then dessert. The order in which we were served in was Mains first, drinks, followed my starters. We asked that the starters be bought out before main, but was told it was ready earlier so they had to serve it. Mogo had way too much salt, which we complained about, and they said it was the normal amount of salt they always use.

Food was very tasty and served hot very quickly, thank you for the excellent service, especially the waitress Karishma.

We regularly visit Sakonis Hatch End and are never disappointed. The food and service are impeccable. It has great Indian street food with variety of options. The chaats are one of the best.

Food is ok but why o why do the owners not consider sound deadening because it's far from relaxing. .

Great food and good service. I’m usually a big carnivore but I always make an exception for this place as the food is always good and the atmosphere and surroundings are really nice. Worth a try!

My family and I were absolutely shocked with the fact that 2 girls were the only staff members literally running around like headless chickens for a fully packed restaurant. This is UNFAIR on both them and paying customers. My brother waited 1.5 hours to receive his paneer wrap even through we asked for it with the starters. We were told at 7pm that the chef has gone for a break so the food will take time. I didn’t expect us to be sat there for almost 3 hours (not because we were relaxing, but because the service was so slow) - again not the 2 girls fault.

A lovely Indian vegetarian breakfast with Jelebis and dosas. Probably the best around in north london and it under £20 per person - it’s a bargain. Lovely team serving - always gentle and with lovely smiles.

Came for a late (1030) brekky with friends. We were seated and served straight away. The courses kept on coming: fresh and beautifully presented vegetarian delicacies accompanied by chai and Indian coffee. Lovely staff, great value - thank you!

A breath of fresh air in Hatch End: not the usual Indian restaurant, Sakonis produces Indian vegetarian cuisine to challenge the taste buds. If unsure what to order, the charming staff are delighted to help. We had lunch recently, and will definitely return. Sakonis is popular, so reservations are recommended.

Good early dinner had with in-laws. Spacious restaurant with a few booths at the back of the restaurant. Good selection of drinks. Falooda large so that could be shared (split into 2 glasses). Good selection of food and reasonably priced. One dish had to be sent back as served cold but other than this minor gripe very good meal.

Sakoni’s has been around for a while but when I last went a few years back they were a typical Indian restaurant of poor decor, poor service and mediocre food. But wow! They have turned this around. The menu is amazing, the food delicious and the service was impeccable! Definitely way above average now! Well done Sakoni’s!

We had a nice lunch at this restaurant. The menu was different from most Indian restaurants we have visited as it is based on Vegetarian street food. There is a good choice of dishes at fair prices and the food tasted really good

Visited with my Hindu vegetarian friend and did not know what to expect except knowing Indian food I knew it would taste delicious even if there wouldn’t be a bit of meat in site! Great friendly service, I had a chilli paneer wrap and this was amazing! My friend had the dorma which was a rice powder wrap filled with a vegetable filling of potatoes and spices. We had a side of fried cassava chips with chilli sauce which has now become one of my favourite dishes ever! I left satisfied and would of happily paid double. Great great value for money. Getting a take away this weekend from there.

The food is excellent as always however we were disappointed to learn that the Masala Chai is from a machine.

1st time here. Midweek night out with friends. The staff had smiles on their faces. I was extremely impressed with the food. Fabulous flavours. Generous portions. Reasonably priced. Only downside for us was we felt a little pressure to leave by 10, as we were the last ones. Definitely be back.
