WOW seriously nice We love this place (been 3 time now) the lady of the house is so Friendly : ) and the food is so good!.. The food is not big and over fancy, simply “simple” straight forward BUT to its best! BEST rice ever so light and “fluffy” and the home made ice cream- stunning! the meat is so tasty. Go there! the place is really not fancy but you will have a great meal

This restaurant was a lovely experience, from the moment we arrived. We were a group of six friends celebrating a birthday. The service and atmosphere was welcoming, and the food is home made so they could answer all our questions. We had mixed starters then various stews, great flatbreads and sublime olives, and a couple of puddings. All gorgeous. We were also able to bring our own bottles, though there is no alcohol to purchase. It was really good and we will definitely come again. Highly recommended.

We hadn't come across this restaurant before but were very pleased we gave it a try. The restaurant is family run and very authentic Middle Eastern. Portions were large, expertly cooked and beautifully presented. We especially enjoyed the starters - the thin flatbreads were absolutely delicious and freshly cooked. Prices are reasonable too. There is 2 hour free parking in nearby side streets. We would recommend Saffron restaurant and will definitely go back.

Had been before with Iranian friends who loved the food they compared it favourably with their mother's. Went with English friends we all loved the food which was tasty and plentiful. The service was most friendly we will all be making return visits we highly recommend this superb restaurant

This is an undiscovered treat. The home made Persian food was delicious. The slow cooked big portion Lamb Shank fell off the bone. The sauces were tasteful beyond belief. The Restaurant is clean and tastefully decorated in an authentic Persian manner. A delight to visit.

As an Iranian I was surprised by how great the food was. Very authentic home-style cooking and delicious. Very caring and attentive staff as well.

I have to say I have eaten a lot of Persian food but this is up there with the best. Tender meat, great dips and fresh bread.

I love this restaurant ! I have been already couple of times with my boyfriend and friends. I have been back today as it was open for the first time after the COVID. A small family business, where the food and the atmosphere make you feel like at home ( as my Persian keep say) In addition is really cheap which is always a plus. A small hide gem in Nottingham, it is worthy a visit! Highly recommended

Just got back from a family celebration at the Saffron. We love Persian food but haven't had any for a while so I booked here on the strength of the TripAdvisor reviews. I have eaten here years ago when it was something else but the current owners have done a lovely refurbishment. Service was warm friendly informative and prompt. Food authentic and absolutely delicious. Portions very generous. And all very reasonably priced. Appreciate being able to take your own drinks! We will definitely be back. Thank you.

My first time to a Persian restaurant, I thought this food was absolutely stunning. The wraps with the paneer, mint leaves and salad were so unusual, fresh and tasty, I would go back just for that. We had vegetarian dishes only, about 5 dishes to share. It seems suited to all tastes with a choice of meat and meat-free dishes. The service was friendly and attentive. I really like this place. Saffron should be tried to believed the food is excellent.

Love this restaurant! The food is always delicious and freshly prepared. Extremely good value for the amount you get. I ordered the Persian traditional lamb for the third time running and the meat just always melts off the bone. The dill rice is to die for! Can't wait to return. We're always greeted in a warm and friendly manner.

We were recommended this place by friends who are both Iranian and they told me it is the best Persian Restaurant in Nottingham according to them, so I was even more intrigued. It is in Hyson Green in Nottingham and is easily accessed using the Tram and getting off at the Forest stop and is only a few minutes walk from the restaurant. Hyson Green is a very diverse zone for shopping with Gregory Boulevard and Radford Road being the main zones with locals calling Radford Road, 'International Road' because of its very rich blend of businesses from around the world. Saffron Restaurant is at the quieter end of Radford Road on Bentinck Road turning right towards another busy ethnic road of Alfreton Road. Therefore it appears to be hidden from both major zones. Upon entering the restaurant their is designated space to sit in a traditional Persian setting or the usual seating, the staff are very welcoming. We ordered our food and upon arriving, the waitress told us a tip of making the rice even better by using the grilled tomato. Therefore they were very hospitable and very helpful.The food was delicious, that before the food came, me and my spouse were talking non-stop. But when the food came, there was silence. We both happily dug into our food and were both filled as well as very satisfied. I would in turn recommend this restaurant to any person seeking to taste and feel true Persian etiquette and cuisine.

Saffron had been recommend to us by friends from Nottingham, and we were not disappointed! The visit to Saffron with the family has been a beautiful experience! We were seated by the owner of the little restaurant, who was happy to give us, who have no prior knowledge of Persian food, some recommodations on the food. The friendly lady really gave us a lot of time to choose. I chose a lamb dish, my wife had a salad, and the kids got smaller-sized dishes. My lamb was very good. The meat was soft, there was Saffron-infused rice as a side, and a little salad. Both mine and my wife's salads were very fresh and very tasty. The children seemed happy with their meals too. As a dessert we had some halwa, which I think is a must-have in this place. It was simply delicious! At the end, as a family of four, we paid under £30 for great meal and excellent service. We will be happy to return to Saffron again when we are in Nottingham!

If you like Persian cuisine, you are going to love Saffron! The restaurant is run by a family and their attention to detail is immaculate. The food is absolutely delicious! Portions are generous, and the quality of the meat, rice, and salads is simply divine! Both my wife and I had lamb dishes and the meat was very soft, and it was masterfully prepared.The subtle seasoning was something I otherwise only know out of Michelin Star restaurants. Simply delightful! For dessert my wife had a faloodeh, a unique kind of ice cream, or sorbet (In all my years travelling, I had never seen anything like it!), and I had probably the best baklava I have ever had. Likewise, the service was topnotch. No wish seemed too big for the nice lady who seems to both wait and cook, and she seems very happy to explain how her lovely dishes are prepared and how they are best enjoyed. The décor and the Persian music create a very warm and cosy atmosphere, and the restaurant appears very clean. The biggest surprise of the evening was the bill though! To write that the place was affordable would be an understatement! This is a first class restaurant for a budget price. I really can not recommend Saffron enough! The only downside might be that the place is quite small and it seems very popular. So, if you want to go on a weekend, or if you are a bigger group, you might want to book a table.

I have been to Saffron several times now, as I very much enjoy the restaurant's combination of excellent, friendly service, delicious, always fresh food, and the restaurant's warm, "living room" like atmosphere. Saffron is a small, family-run place, and with the friendly hosts one easily feels welcome and cared for. The lady of the house cooks many meals herself and is always happy to help. As I am a Vegetarian, she helped me find delicious vegetarian dishes. I am in love with the aubergine dishes, and the Paneer Sabzi (It is very different from Indian paneer. It is Persian bread with feta cheese and herbs). Also, you can not leave the restaurant without trying the home-made truly delightful baklava! Finally, being a student, I am also happy that the price is fair. If you are looking for a nicely decorated, warm and friendly Persian restaurant, with excellent food in a cosy atmosphere for a good price, you are going to find it in Saffron!

We have been there a couple of times and we are pleased every time! I’ve had a different dish every time and they are all delicious! The place is run by a very nice lady that also serves at the tables and is very happy to show you the right way of eating the dishes. The restaurant has a very nice atmosphere, very homey and the portions are very generous! The skewers are so yummy and filling and you will not be disappointed with their amazing baklava! We will keep going! :)

I visited the restaurant with friends following the recommendation of a colleague. The restaurant is recently done up and looks quite pleasant and authentic inside. The food is very very good, authentic Iranian taste, excellent rice, fantastic meat. It's a very good place to go, food is amazing, and after you do not feel stuffed even if you had a lot.Definitely recommended, will go again!

We enjoyed a truly excellent meal at Saffron over the Bank Holiday weekend, when visiting Nottingham.The restaurant is family-owned and run, so there is a great sense of pride in everything they do, from freshly preparing the meals to providing a friendly welcome and excellent service.We enjoyed two aubergine dips (mirza ghasemi and kashk bademjan) followed by lamb kobideh and chicken kebabs.All were cooked perfectly, with fine flavours and generous portions. The dips (served with hot bread) were truly delicious; some of the best we have tasted, and we have eaten Persian food many times. Our kebabs were so delicious; tender and well seasoned, with a good portion of rice to accompany them.We rounded off our meal with Persian Tea, and we were all completely satisfied, unable to eat anything more! This is a great restaurant and one we hope to return to when visiting the area again.Please note that currently payments can only be made in cash, so do plan ahead.

Worth trying this newly opened family run restaurant.We all loved the taste and the tenderness of our dishes (Lamb shank, ,Koobideh, Chenjeh)Dishes were made as they should be in Iranian cuisine not like some places trying to change the authenticity of the food, then you wouldn’t get what you’ve expected.Decor could be changed a little bit to get more Middle Eastern atmosphere on table sitting area, the music was so boring and slow, luckily I didn’t fall asleep, I’m sure Iran has lots of traditional songs and instrumentals to be played in a restaurant.The lady owner-waitress-chef was so friendly and happy to give us the best service.Not sure about the parking, it could be hard to find a space.DON’T miss the DOOGH drink it’s so nice.

Saffron is an oasis of beauty - elegant refurbishment, thoughtful decor. But it is the food that is the star here - authentic, home cooked, every attention to detail. The final bill was exceptionally good value. Even the yoghurt is made by the lady of the house. It was so good we even considered it for our wedding caterer but we were restricted to our venue's caterers. We will be back as often as possible. thank you.

My partner, who is Iranian, took me to this restaurant for Sunday lunch. He says:"It feels like home".I've tried persian cuisine many times before, but this is one of my favourite places from now on.Very traditional, familly atmosphere, the food is absolutely amazing and staff so kind. We were wandering around in Nottingham, and searched on Google for a good food suggestion. We luckily ended up at Saffron Persian. A great family owned restaurant with fresh home made food. Highly recommended! We will be back soon for more :)

Great experience from start to finish. We'd had Persian food before but this seems the most authentic and traditional that we've had in the UK. It's a family run place and the staff were very welcoming. They took the time to explain about the dishes/ingredients and taught us a little about Persian culture. The food was delicious and there was a large and varied menu. The prices were very reasonable especially because they import some rare spices from Iran.At first glance it seems a bit out of town but its very close to The Forest tram stop so is quick to get to.This is a new gem of Nottingham- would highly recommend.

Everything about the restaurant was great! They were extremely welcoming and helpful throughout the whole meal, everything came on time if not faster than expected, and the meal portions were super huge! I've never been to a restaurant that gave this portion, but the taste was even better! And the value of food for what we got was exceptional I definitely recommend it to anyone that is looking for a Devine homemade meal

For those that want to try some authentic Persian cuisines you must try Saffron. You have a very well rounded menu with mains ranging from stews to grills and specials. Oh and don't forget to try the wings in the starter menu...thank me later.Once you finish your meal you are given a choice of ending the evening with some tea, ice-cream or both. I must say it is one of the most common and relaxing traditions they have in Iran to end an evening meal this way. So to sum up, the owners are very pleasant and friendly, you will feel very comfortable to be there.
